Whoa! That was a lot darker than I expected. Although the last one was about a murder, it had sort of a lighter feel that this one. This one was much sadder and more disturbing. It’s a good book! Don’t get me wrong. But if you’re looking for the kind of book where quirky teens solve a fun mystery, this is not it. Some of what’s in here will linger. I watched my kids extra close at the playground today.

Like the series's first book, "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder," "Good Girl, Bad Blood" is a page-turner of a mystery. The short chapters, engaging characters, and just the right amount of twists and turns made me want to read just a few more pages until it was way past my bedtime!

It had been a few months since I read the first book, and I wish I'd remembered that story better, as the two books are very connected. I sensed that Jackson was trying to refresh readers' memories, but it wasn't that effective for me (not that it mattered). You'll have to suspend belief a bit-- the freedom these teens have to pursue solving a missing persons case with skipped school days and late night escapes from home is, at least in my experience, unreal. But it's fun-- so, so much fun. I look forward to the next installment in this series!

Good Girl, Bad Blood is for lovers of mystery, true crime, podcasts, and thrillers. The story wasn't as deep and dark as A Good Girl's Guide to Murder but all of the characters are back and the mystery is just as thrilling. I loved everything about this sequel, I hope there are more!

Jackson has proven herself as a strong voice in the world of YA mysteries with Good Girl, Bad Blood. the novel leads readers on the same twisty path that A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Pip is the same smart and strong heroine she was in the first book but this time made more human by her struggle with trying to do the right thing while trying to protect her family. Jackson's carefully plotted mystery was filled with surprise turns and red herrings which made the novel incredibly fun to read and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I think this book was definitely a solid follow-up to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. I really appreciated the recap (in the form of a podcast wrap-up) of the first book, because it's been quite a while since I read it, and my brain retains absolutely no plot information.

I am usually taken completely by surprise with mystery/thriller-type books, but I had some inklings about this one. So it wasn't quite 5 stars for me, like the first one. I also felt like Pip was really one-dimensional in this book, too. I can't remember if she was like that before, but there doesn't seem to be much to her, personality-wise outside of her need to solve crimes. It was definitely enjoyable, and I read the last 70% of the book in one sitting, so it was really engaging and fast-paced.

I do have complaint, and I'm not sure if this is too nit-picky or what, so I didn't take it into account for my rating: the amount of British-isms in this book is SO distracting to me! This was an issue I had with the first book as well and every time I came across something that was written in British grammar instead of American, it took me out of the story for a few seconds, which is really annoying. Honestly, I think this is something that should have been fixed in editing. Because I know publishers often change spellings and things like that for books when they're published in other countries. But the fact that this series is set in the US and the character use so many British-isms while speaking is really distracting to me. Honestly, even the MC's name is very obviously British (and so were many of the side characters' names. When was the last time you met an American teenager named Harry or George?). Americans do not say "I have to revise," they say "I have to study." There are so many instances of this that I can't even remember them all now. And yes I realize the author is British! So she shouldn't be expected to write in American grammar! But I think that it takes away a certain level of believability to the story. And for me, like I said before, it's very distracting. And honestly took away some of my enjoyment of the book. So I think it could do with some editing. If this book were set in England, fine. I would have no problem with it. It's not that English grammar makes it unreadable or anything. It's just the manner of speaking is noticeably different. Anyway, I'm not sure if that rant makes sense to anyone else (mostly because I have heard literally no one say the same thing about the first book....) but it really did affect my enjoyment of the book. However, if you liked the first book in this series, I think it's safe to say you'll like this one. I am looking forward to the third one, and if it's about who I think it is, it's looking to be an interesting mystery!

Good Girl, Bad Blood is the sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and it is just as good as the first! Pip is back with a new missing person’s case to solve. When her friend’s older brother, Jamie Reynolds, goes missing, the police refuse to get involved, so Pip steps in to help. What she discovers unravels more secrets in her small town, and, of course, puts Pip in danger once again.

If you’ve read and loved the first book, you won’t want to miss Good Girl, Bad Blood, out March 2. Recommended for high school and up; perfect for fans of Sadie, One of Us Is Lying, or the Serial podcast.

If you read and liked A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder last year, then you must pick this one up. It is also one that is hard to put down with lots of twists and turns and the final reveal was quite the stunner and not expected at all!

Pip is still a really good character and a joy to read, although we do see a bit of a darker side to her this time around. She does a few things that were a little bit out of character for her, but were totally believable in the circumstances. Pip’s strength is in her determination to see things through and to help others when the police can’t or won’t.

Ravi is still in the picture although he doesn’t seem to be as involved in this mystery as he was the first one. He still always has Pip’s back and is her rock in her very stormy seas. I really hope that at some point we get to hear from Ravi’s point of view, as I think his insights would be amazing. The romance between the two of them continues in this book, but is very much in the background.

Just like in the first book, the plot is what grabs you and keeps you reading long into the night. This one has lots of twists and turns that keeps you guessing right along with Pip as to what happened to Jamie. The author also does a nice job of not glossing over Pip’s issues with what happened to her at the end of the first book. She has some intense ptsd moments which were good to see. I hate it when a character has something awful happen to them and then in the next chapter or book, their life just goes on like nothing happened. The ending was well done and really has me anticipating the next book.

The writing continues to be solid with some interviews and documents that Pip keeps to help explain what is happening. I liked the explanations of how a podcast works and that she asks permission from everyone before she records their interviews and has them sign releases. That level of realism is a really nice touch.

A well done second book that will have you on the edge of your seat anticipating what mystery Pip will be working on next.

This book is the second in Holly Jackson's series, "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder." Pip has begun a podcast about the dark underbelly of the town she's living in when she's asked to help solve a missing person's case. Along with the help of her boyfriend, Ravi, they work together to solve this case and uncover other mysteries along the way. I really enjoyed how the author interspersed interview notes, transcripts, maps, etc. throughout the book to make the reader feel like part of the case! I'm looking forward to Jackson's next book in this series.

I didn't think it was possible to love a sequel just as much as the first book, but this one proved me wrong. I LOVED it. Holly Jackson's writing is so captivating and I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to own a physical copy of this book!

This book picks up right where a A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder ends. Pip is finishing a podcast covering the aftermath of her investigation and had made a promise not to get involved in anymore investigations. That is until one of her friends brothers goes missing under suspicious circumstances. I loved the pacing and plot twists in this book, even though some may be predictable the way that Pip puzzles them out is absolutely fascinating. I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment in this series.

It took me a while to get into this one, but once I did, I enjoyed it. There were definitely some plot twists that I did not see coming.

As soon as I listened to Holly Jackson's first book in this series this past June, I knew I needed to get my hands on the latest adventures of Pip. Good Girl, Bad Blood picks up right where A Good Girl's Guide to Murder left off, and while it took me a little to get my bearings, I think that if I had read or listened to them right after another it wouldn't have been an issue.

As Pip is learning to come to terms with her new-found fame from her project that ended up solving two cold-case murders, she is approached by a friend to help find his older sibling. Pip tries hard to not fall too deep into this mystery, while still maintaining a sense of who she is. But as the mystery gets deeper, Pip begins to question just who she really is. Is she really a good girl, or does she have some bad blood running through her veins?

I really loved how Holly Jackson kept me guessing through this book - she's GREAT at the true-crime feel. I also appreciated the development of Pip from a young and pretty naive girl to someone who is starting to deal with her own dark elements.

How I have missed you, Pip Fitz-Amobi!! Reading Good Girl, Blad Blood was like spending time with a new friend. However, I would recommend reading A Good Girl's Guide to Murder if it has been a while since you read it because you might need a refresher on how all of the characters are related.
Pip's podcast has garnered much success even though she still has some emotional scars from last year's events. When this novel opens up, she is still happily in love with Ravi, and it is the night of a memorial for Andie and Sal. That night, her friend Connor's brother, Jamie, goes missing. Although Pip has put a hold on her detective work, she decides to take on the case for her friend and his family. Hence begins a new season of her podcast. This is all going on while Max Hasting's is on trial for sexual abuse. So the reader will be able to find out what happens to Max. Although I figured out some of the key players, I did not know all of the twists. I would definitely recommend this novel if you like YA mysteries.

Fabulous knocked out!!! Another dark mystery!! Looking forward to book #3! Good Girl ,Bad Blood is the sequel to ya murder mystery A Good Girls Guide to murder by Holly Jackson. What a treat for the YA/Adult audience!

I have been looking forward to this sequel to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder ever since I finished reading it. A good mystery can give me an ending that I didn't anticipate and that's exactly what happened with the first book AND with Good Girl, Bad Blood. Honestly, I was nervous to read this one since sequels usually are underwhelming, but like usual, Holly Jackson exceeds my expectations.

When a person that Pip knows goes missing and the police do little to find him, Pip decides to solve the mystery on her own. At the end of the first book, Pip was not okay, so I found the characterization of Pip's trauma at the opening of the sequel to be very believable, which was necessary because she DID encounter events that were incredibly traumatic and she's still a kid with very raw emotions. I enjoyed the healthy display of Pip and Ravi's relationship, but found it to be corny now and again, even though I suppose that is something to be expected of a young relationship - so ultimately that's not such a bad thing. While I enjoyed the plot of the first book more, I very much enjoyed figuring out clues alongside Pip and her friends and the fact that Jackson had me guessing until the very end, which is the most important part for me.

This book was well written. The main characters were like able and believable. I enjoyed the storyline and the mystery behind it. Pip is a strong female lead and I think young women will be drawn to her.

Pip is back investigating again. This time she has a chance to save her friend’s missing brother. At first it felt as if this chapter of AGGGTM wasn’t as intense- though it was still fast moving and intriguing- as the original because Pip herself wasn’t threatened. And then it took a twist, and my heart is still pounding. All your favorite characters are back, and I can’t wait to see them again in the final installment.

Though hesitant, Pip feels a responsibility to help. She, Ravi, and Connor work together to unravel the previous weeks of Jamie's life. Why was he so desperate for money? Who was he talking to on the phone every day? Where did he go when he snuck out late at night? Eventually, all these questions are answered, as yet another mystery becomes entwined with Jamie's disappearance. Good Girl, Bad Blood is just as fast-paced and intense as A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Holly Jackson adds just the right amount of twists and turns to keep readers engaged until the very end. There was quite a bit of character development for Pip in this book as well. She comes to terms with the fact that sometimes she can do bad things for the greater good and that she is, in fact, a girl who solves mysteries. I liked seeing Pip deal with grief and trauma and fear and take those things to make her stronger.
Spoiler-y parts:
I wish the Child Brunswick storyline hadn't been introduced so late in the book. It felt contrived to squish Jamie's storyline into another mystery that supposedly already existed. I personally prefer when all, or most, of the cards are on the table. That said, I thought the Brunswick case was very interesting.

If you enjoyed A Good Girl's Guide to Murder then you need to add Good Girl, Bad Blood to your tbr! It comes out March 2 and is even better than book 1.

A great sequel to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and the door is definitely left open for a followup. Pip has put her senior thesis and murder investigation as far behind her as she can...but trouble comes knocking when her friend Connor's brother, Jamie, goes missing. Once again, she uncovers secrets that the folks in town are dying to hide. Using a new platform, Pip shares updates via Ravi of Max's trial, but then she uses it as a tool to help find Jamie. Unfortunately, she uncovers the dark underbelly of her town and...herself. Good read. Will definitely recommend the books in the series to my students who like mysteries!
