Loved it!

I have really been enjoying this ‘Nancy Drew’ type YA series. I found myself relating so much to Pip... I have a tendency to get a lil obsessive when it comes to finding answers to questions. This was not overly complicated and moved at a steady pace. Fun ‘whodunnit’. 4.5.

I positively loved this follow up! So many twists and turns it kept me guessing until the end. I love this little universe and the main character, Pip. It's the perfect kind of mystery: fast paced, fun, and unpredictable.

I so greatly enjoyed A GOOD GIRL'S GUIDE TO MURDER, and was excited but apprehensive for a sequel. But I am happy to report that GOOD GIRL, BAD BLOOD is another suspenseful, well crafted mystery from Holly Jackson. I liked seeing Pip trying to move on from her investigation days but falling back into it because of a friend in need, as that definitely felt in character for her, while also opening the door to demonstrate how much emotional labor such a thing could be for a teenage girl. This is no Nancy Drew situation where Pip can just remain plucky and intrepid, and I liked seeing the consequences of that as the story goes on. I also really liked the podcast element, as it's another new and fun way to lay out evidence in one place without feeling like it's unnaturally done. The mystery was once again very carefully put together and left me guessing, though I WILL say that a huge element to the solution didn't arrive until it felt a little late in the narrative, which, while probably realistic, did feel a bit like a cheat kind of moment. But having said that, it still worked pretty well and didn't tarnish the story overall. I am also very nervous about where things are going to go for Pip now, as a number of things happened that will, assuredly, lead to some emotional setbacks....

Which makes me all the more excited for the next one in the series!! GOOD GIRL, BAD BLOOD will surely satisfy fans of the first book! I was very pleased with it!

Can you tell I’m catching up on NetGalley reviews 😹⁣

A GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER was one of my favorite YAs last year, so of course I wanted to read the sequel GOOD GIRL, BAD BLOOD. But unfortunately, my interest in this series is now gone 🙅‍♀️⁣

It started out well: Pip is once again chasing down a mystery in her small town following the success of her podcast. However, this time, all the clues felt a little too convenient and the ending truly goes off the rails. There will supposedly be two more installments in this series but I doubt I’ll read them. ⁣

Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for an eARC in exchange for this review. ⁣

#librarianreviews Thanks to @netgalley I got to read an advanced copy of #goodgirlbadblood by Holly Jackson!! I had no clue that there would be a sequel and it was the best surprise! Also thanks to @thenextgenlibrarian for posting about it to let me know!

Good Girl, Bad Blood is brilliant! I love following Pip Fitz-Amobi down the twisted shadow and tunnels of the small town. This sequel does NOT let down.

*I am not a huge fan of series, so I tend to be hyper critical of sequels. This one completely lives up to the first one and makes me salivate for the next one!

The sequel to Good Girl's Guide to Murder is just as fun and twisty as the original. We are still in Fairview, CT. following Pip and Ravi as they deal with the fallout of Pip's incredibly popular true crime podcast. This time, someone close to Pip has gone missing, and she gets sucked back into the amateur detective work she swore she was done with.

If you are a true crime junkie, this YA series is for you. Fans of Sara Shepherd will like the feisty heroine and her moxie that leads her to follow hunches the police can't or won't. Definitely a quick and fun read!

I was a huge, huge fan of Jackson's first book in this series and GOOD GIRL, BAD BLOOD did not disappoint as a sequel. After some thought on it as well, I think I may prefer this one to the first! Pip and her now-boyfriend Ravi are back, and Pip has gone somewhat viral with her podcast coverage of her investigation into the death of Andie Bell -- but Pip's life was turned upside down by that investigation and she has sworn off getting involved in anything else. That said, after her best friend's brother goes missing, Pip feels she has no choice but to dive right back into things, this time with the whole world listening as she leverages her podcast to garner attention for this missing persons case before time runs out.

As I said, I really enjoyed reading this sequel. I appreciated the oft-ignored part of teen mystery stories where we actually see how the teen detective in question deals with the often traumatic experience. Pip nearly died last time, and her family dog did die in collateral damage. (I will admit, BAD BLOOD gets bonus points for its lack of pet death). I also liked the nature of this new case; a disappearance lends itself to urgency and more tension during the investigation, which I found to be very compelling.

A very fun read that draws you in right away. My school library did not purchase the first book in Jackson's series, but we have a lot of YA mystery fans so I may consider buying both titles when BAD BLOOD comes out.

I love a good mystery that takes the reader through twists and turns and leaves them guessing to the very end. This book does this...mostly. While it is twisty and turny the solution was a bit out of left field for me. A bit TOO surprising. And, trying as hard as I can to not spoil the big finish, Pippa’s emotional reaction to the victimization of a character she really had no emotional attachment to until this end was way too over the top.

The relationship between Pippa and Ravi was cringe-y. Would have rather seen tension between them instead of the unconditional support and the we-finish-each other’s-sentences kind of mushiness.

OH MY GOSH THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING! Holly Jackson has got to be one of the best, if not the best, YA mystery writer out there right now. I've been waiting to read this book since its' release date in America is so much later than it's original publication. This book holds up so well to the first book but is also great on it's own merit. Pip is at her detective work once again trying to help her close friend find his missing brother. I NEVER saw the twist coming and was very pleased with what it ended up being! I did fairly well at guessing who was who once the twist came but this book still had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

I read AGGGTM right when quarantine was just beginning. In the months that came after, I recommended it to everyone I could. I absolutely loved it, finding it to be intriguing and not at all the predictable YA murder mystery sort that has become very popular lately (I’ve read and enjoyed plenty of those - this one is just on another level). I’ve seen this second book, Good Girl, Bad Blood, discussed for awhile, and have had it on my to read list for awhile. When I saw it offered on Netgalley and was approved to read it, I was ecstatic. But I was also apprehensive, as I really didn’t want to be disappointed; how could this book live up to the first? Finally, I couldn’t wait anymore. Let me tell you. Don’t wait. Just read it. It’s so good. The writing is fantastic - clear, just detailed enough, focused, and engaging. The pace is rapid, pulling you right along on the hunt. The characters. Ugh! Pip and Ravi are great. Those around them are just as well developed and included in a way that makes sense. The mystery was excellent, as was Pip’s growth. It’s just GOOD. Honestly, the only thing I don’t like is now having to wait for book 3!

Pip’s back with a new season of her now popular podcast A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder in Good Girl Bad Blood.
🎙
Pip Fitz-Amobi is officially hanging up her detective hat as she finishes her senior year of high school. Her podcast has gone viral from book one where she solved the murders of Sal Singh and Andi Bell. The only thing left to do now is wrap up the trial of Max Hastings. But when her friend, Connor, shows up on her doorstep saying his brother has gone missing, it’s up to Pip, once again, to do the job the police won’t: find Jamie Reynolds at all costs.
🎙
I had high hopes for this YA sequel and was not disappointed. My only issue is that it wasn’t long enough! I loved the premise and how it was very different from the first book, but Pip was still as vigilant and invested as ever. I can’t wait to read the prequel Kill Joy and the third book (yet-to-be-named) in the series. Thank you @netgalley for an ARC. Check this one out April 30!

4.5 stars!

Here we go again.

Pip is now the penultimate investigator, bring her in when the cops don't want to do anything about it. And she even has to tell her kid brother not to be like her and take on investigations when he wants to figure out where the pencil went. And she doesn't want to do it again- she's content with her podcast from the investigation and the resolutions that came from the first mystery even though there is an ongoing trial for icky Max Hastings.

But, when a brother to Connor, Jamie, goes missing on the night of the memorial and thus begins the second mystery that Pip must figure out for herself using her podcast as a vehicle. This one is definitely a bit more of a mindf$ck because there are intricate pieces, some super believable psychology, and some weird and twisted manipulations. This one was like my favorite old forensic mystery series by Alane Ferguson because the focus is as much on Pip as the main character is it is the mysteries she's trying to solve.

A fabulous second book in (what looks like from the end) a planned trilogy.

Another great book! I read this book in less than 24 hours! I was expecting more since the first one was so good, but I felt this did fall a bit short of the first novel. However, I still really enjoyed this book and would recommend.

Amateur detective Pip is back to solve another case in her small town. After the success of her podcast about the investigating the murders of Andie Bell and Sal Singh, Pip returns for unexpected second season. When her best friend's brother Jamie goes missing, Pip starts up the podcast in hopes of finding out what happened. Along the way, she uncovers secrets about her friends and the town that she never expected.

This was quite a thrilling read. There were a lot of twists and turns and red herrings that will really keep readers on the edge of their seat. The podcast format is also a fun way to introduce more information. The greatest downfall of this book is how unlikable Pip becomes and how many illegal things she does in order get information. She blackmails a teacher, bribes a drug dealer, breaks into buildings, vandalizes property, and a lot of other unsavory things that somehow don't get her arrested. It was also frustrating that this book ends on a cliffhanger, leaving room for another installment. Overall, a great mystery for fans of Karen McManus.

Interesting spin on a new series. I definitely liked the tie-ins on this one much better! Highly recommend if you enjoyed the first one. It’s an original spin that enhances the characters.

Typically I don't read mystery novels but this book series is just so good! I honestly thought that the first book would be just be a stand alone novel before, so I was pretty surprised when I saw that there is a sequel! I really enjoyed this, sometimes sequels aren't great but this one was just as good as the first! It was a little slow at first, I found myself just going, "okay yes but I already know this!" at the beginning when everything was kind of showing what happened in the first book, but I understand it is a refresher and it's good to have a refresher in sequels, especially if you can't remember what happened.
Anyways, I really enjoyed this, I found myself trying to figure out the mystery alongside the characters in the book, this was also quite fast paced, which, I think, is good for a crime solving novel. I also found it fun when I could figure things out before the characters did in the book, which is probably intentional but I still enjoyed that bit, and I also enjoyed when things happened that I didn't expect! Overall this is a great sequel and I would love to read the next book in the series whenever it releases.

What an amazing follow-up to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder! I paged through this so quickly and when I had to put it down to do my adulting things like work I still found myself thinking about it. I love how perfectly Holly Jackson puts together a thrilling mystery, dropping enough clues and secrets for us to try to tease it out for ourselves. I can't wait for more in this series!

Wow. This one completely lived up to the thrill of the first one. I feel like this one actually went a bit faster, but it may have been because I was reading it instead of just listening to it. But wow. Twists and turns and red herrings and great characters and just enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages. When does part three come out?

What a story! In the sequel to "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" the main character, Pip, has decided that her detective days are over, after the events in the first book, there was too much angst, publicity, and harm that came from murder investigations. However, it doesn't take long for a close friend to convince Pip to help him find his brother, who is missing, but the police won't investigate because he is an adult and he hasn't been missing for more than 72 hours.

As Pip and Ravi update their podcast with the missing person case, the clues start piling up. At the same time, a certain character from the previous novel, is on trial and Ravi has to testify, which adds another dimension to the plot. The suspense and clues are perfectly set up, including the development of Pip's character, her relationship with her parents, her friends, and Ravi. It's not often that I enjoy a sequel more than the first novel, but this sequel is unputdownable!

Thanks to Random House Children's Publishing, NetGalley, and Holly Jackson for an advanced eBook in exchange for my honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed Holly Jackson's A Good Girl's Guide to Murder & was eager to read the sequel, Good Girl, Bad Blood. Although this book could be a little meta at times, I think overall Holly Jackson knocked this out of the park. This read was sometimes funny & fun, but the real strength in this book was the very real issues this dives into. How the loss of someone never really leaves us. How the actions of murder affect so many people in a myriad of ways (like Cara & her journey through this book). How the justice system fails so many people, especially in rape and sexual assault cases. Thus the strongest theme in this book poses the question - at what point do people take justice into their own hands? Where is the line?

I look forward to Holly Jackson's next installment & I hope she continues to push these thoughts. I was glad to see the inclusion of PTSD at the end, & hope that Jackson treads carefully in how she portrays this (hopefully with ownvoice readers providing input/feedback).
