Such a cute little story, which is basically what children love and about their parents and reminisce about what they do together

This is a good book for your little ones.

This was such a cute and fun book! I read it to my 2.5 year old son who absolutely loved it. The illustrations were perfect. I liked how they went right along with each part of the story so I could point out what the words meant. I will be purchasing a physical copy of this book! Thanks for the approval.

This is such an appropriate book for this hard time in children's lives. 2020, and now 2021, have been filled with a lot of missing. Families and friends staying apart to keep each other safe. Video chats and phone calls and maybe even old fashioned letters being the only way to communicate, and having to settle for long distance hugs and blown kisses instead of warm embraces.

This book is all about the many ways children, and adults, can imagine how they would spend time with a loved one if they were together. Baking, going on safaris, eating ice cream and being pirates. No matter how far away their loved one is, in their imagination, they're always right by their side.

And for some children, like my sweet nephew, this book is a great reminder that even if your parents aren't very good at it, and aren't around all the time, it's okay to miss them, and love them, and imagine all the fun things you can do together when they do come back.

In what has been, objectively, the hardest year for many of us, it is our kids who have been hit the hardest by the sudden and lasting distance between family and friends. We are closing in on 9+ months of being mostly separated from many people we love dearly, losing out on socializing, on hugs, on kisses, fort-building, sleepovers, all things that fill a child's (and adults!) soul with what it needs to thrive.

I Miss You Most provides a warm, gentle, colorful world to escape to for a few moments. Softly rhyming imaginary adventures and memories for children to see themselves in without being solely focused on the pandemic portion. (Don't get me wrong, I am ALL about COVID books for kids and recommend COVID-19 Helpers: A Story for Kids about the Coronavirus and the People Helping During the 2020 Pandemic by Beth Bacon for parents to read with their kids!).

What I love most about this book is how it is affirming that it's not unusual to miss your loved ones, wherever they are and for whatever reason they're gone. I do wish it had at least one page depicting a child talking over video chat with a family member, to help toddlers connect some more dots but, that's a teensy tiny want that didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the book. I was delighted to see many different families and kids represented and feel that is such a necessary component in helping children feel SEEN and like a book is meant for them.

I'm also a fan of muted use of colors. What I mean by that is that the book is packed with deep, warm colors that aren't glaringly hard to look at and did not set off a sensory overload for my child.

This book has entered our bookshelf as a regular reading and I suspect it will remain there long after the pandemic eases.

My rating: ★★★★☆
My Sweet Isolated Extrovert Sidekick's opinion: (✿ ♥‿♥) - "This book made me so sad and happy at the same time. I miss my family so much and when the sickness is over I want to read it in their laps please".

This was a lovely book

This is a story that is particularly poignant at this time of year with lockdowns and the outbreak of Covid-19 which have meant that some families have not been able to see each other as they would normally do - my daughter has missed out on seeing her grandparents, cousin and aunt this year as they are further away and we are not permitted to travel.

The illustrations in the book were lovely and they really brought that story to life.
The book was well written and it had a lovely flow to the story too.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, simple text and lovely images - very highly recommended

I Miss You Most by Cassie Hoyt is an adorable picture book all about missing someone.

This is a great picture book filled with colourful illustrations that showcase the feeling of missing someone. It can be read as a story of grief or simply missing someone who is far away. I think this can be an excellent resource for your little ones if they are learning about this sometimes awful feeling of loss. Thinking about the time spent together and the wonderful things you can do together is a great way to manage this feeling.

Four out of five stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.

A delightful book that celebrates all the people we love and miss while social distancing. This would be a fun one to read as an example to students, then have them write their own books for friends and family.

This was a sweet book about loss and missing someone and all the things you shared. This book would be great for kids that are dealing with loss whether it be a move or a death, this book encourages children to remember all the good things they had done together.

Thank you NetGalley for the DRC.

This is a lovely heartfelt book about a little boy who misses his mommy and yearns to be with her. The author has done a wonderful job of exposing that feeling of loss when the two are separated. That sad empty feeling can be soothed some by pretending fun things they might do together such as: how how his mother would hold him and sing to him softly at night, imagining swimming and jumping off the diving board at the pool, the reward of high fives he would receive as he rode by on his big-boy bike, or exploring the seven seas as bad nasty pirates with treasures of gold, just to name a few.

Thinking about the other person can knit hearts together even if the distance is great. Nothing though can surpass the euphoric and magical feeling of being wrapped in each others hugs and sharing their love in real time. It's the best... always!

The illustrations are wonderful: vibrant, colourful and full of love and happiness leaving the reader with a contented grateful heart.

" My time spent with you is what I cherish most of all."

The bond of love between a mother and her beloved child is forever and for always and can never be broken no matter how far apart they are! I highly recommend this book.

This is a good book to have around for 2020. It encourages kids to use their imagination. Kids don't always understand that they can't visit family in person and so thinking about loved ones and talking on the phone are ways they can get over that sadness. The illustrations show diverse families and they are great. I would recommend this book and will be purchasing it for our library collection.

My family lives on the other side of the world so my children don’t get to see their grandparents very often so this book was especially poignant for them. My children don’t exactly comprehend that it isn’t exactly a norm for them to not be able to see their grandparents but they still enjoyed the book. I think the book is even better for adults to read to their children and grandparents to their grandkids as they continue to deal with the distance. All in all a good book for parents and kids.

This book really made me smile a lot while reading it. Through its illustrations and words it expresses the emotion of longing and missing someone beautifully. Such beautiful illustrations. A must add to your child’s reading repertoire.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

I miss you the most is a lovely, poetic rhyming children's book about missing a loved one who is still alive. The book goes through remembering the fun things you do when you see the person your missing and encourages children to focus on the good times not the sad emotions of missing them.

Hopefully my daughter will remember me for most of these things too.
