The Business of Botanicals is a book for people who are consumers and botanical lovers. I wasn't really into it and I don't think It was a book for me.

The beginning chapters of this book were almost all about the spirituality of herbs and botanicals. Not what I expected at all and I am very disappointed. I would have appreciated more secular information.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is an interesting book. It was around 3.5 stars for me.

Almost the first third of the book was about the authors personal experience and how they got into herbs. While there was some acknowledgement of colonialism there wasn't much of a dive into the history of Ingenious people of the United States or Canada using herbs.

The rest of the book looks at the herbal supply chain which I found more interesting. The author travels around the globe and talks to people who grow herbs and who process them. The book also explores fair trade certification and auditing and highlights problems actually following the supply chain accurately.

Overall it's not as thorough as I expected but is definitely an interesting look at the world of tea harvesting and other herbal uses.
