I loved this book; it was a great romance read. The characters were so very likable. From single mom Jess, her 7 yr old daughter Juno, best friend Fizzy, the grandparents who raised her and Jess's love interest River. I really wanted things to work out for all of them. I loved the nerdy science plot and the sense of community where Jess lives. I have read several other books by Christina Lauren. I would say this is my favorite.

Christina Lauren is my favorite romance writing duo of authors and I was so excited to get an advanced copy of this book.

In The Soulmate Equation, we meet Jess. She's a single mom in CA trying to make it and thrive with her daughter, and she'd tired of the dating scene. Her friend Frizzie encourages her not to give up and then they learn about a local matching making company that is about to go public. GeneticAlly focuses on finding the genes people have in common that means they would be a good match. Jess is skeptical but decides to give it a try when she gets an amazing score with her local coffeeshop asshole and board member at GeneticAlly.

River is the mind behind the science at GeneticAlly and when he finds out about his score with Jess he wants to give it a chance. This could be everything he's been looking for and it would be great for the company. River and Jess agree to give things a trial until the company goes public, and in the meantime, they fall pretty hard for each other. When the question of the authenticity of their results comes into question River and Jess have to decide if the number determined their attraction or if it exists no matter their scores.

In the last year, I have recently become obsessed with the best friend duo authors, Christina Lauren. Even though romance is not typically my first choice, their novels always have romance with humor that make me laugh out loud. As soon as I saw they had a new book coming out, I knew I just had to get my hands on it!

The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren has a new twist of a romance novel that I have never seen done before. The main character, Jess, is a single mother who is a little nerdy with numbers as her job and no desire to date. She discovers the new dating app called “GeneticAlly “which claims the app can discover your soulmate based on compatible DNA. On a whim, Jess spits into the tube, only to find out that her 98% match is the cold, stubborn founder of the company, that she often sees in her local coffee shop. Will the DNA be accurate? How much does fate play a role in love?

This book for me could not have come at a better time. I am newly single and are on the dating apps (ugh dating in a pandemic) and so wish I could find my soulmate through DNA. I related so much to Jess and River and could not put this book down. Christina Lauren continues their humor; however, I have found their previous books funnier. If you are not into genetics/science, then this may not be the book for you since there are biological terms and statistical language. Overall, I fell in love with the characters and the unique concept of finding a soulmate. I give this book 4.5/ 5 stars and will recommend it to anyone when it comes out May 18th.

I won’t lie, I was a little nervous to start this book given I didn’t really love Christina Lauren’s last book but Soulmate Equation is a five star book for me.

Jess is a single mom who hasn’t made dating a priority. River is a scientist turned matchmaker after his company has created a way to match people through a DNA test. They’re both shocked when they not only match, but get the highest match possible from the test. They begin to date to see if their test results are real.

Thank you Gallery Books for my copy of this book!

Ok- I am 1000% blaming Christina Lauren for my actions of staying up way too late and waking up way too early to finish this book. I could NOT sit through my entire workday not knowing how this was going to end. This is a GEM of a book. Such a unique and refreshing storyline, and I am a sucker for a nerdy and sweet love story. River and Jess are adorable characters and Fizzy is an amazing best friend- I loved her character a lot. I can NOT recommend this enough.

I loved the characters in this fun, and modern story. The friendships, love story, and family dynamic make this book relatable and fun! A must read for anyone looking for a beautiful, funny, and unique love story.

I am a puddle – every emotion has oozed out of me after the storm that is The Soulmate Equation. Seriously, could I love this book more? It’s not possible!

5 swoon-worthy stars for Christina Lauren. My heart has melted, AGAIN!

Jess is a hardworking, whip-smart, single mother who never lets a day pass without making sure those she loves know it. She doesn’t give her own happiness a second thought. After having a mostly absent mother herself, this has driven her to be the best, most involved and present mother she can be. Thankfully, Jess has the best support system in her Nana Jo and Pops, who raised her from the young age of six, and are still there today with laughs and love and smiles. And who can forget Fizzy, her sassy, loving, sex-crazed best friend!

One day while diligently working at their neighborhood café, Twiggs, Fizzy and Jess are presented with an interesting opportunity – to learn about a new dating app that is about to revolutionize the game – using DNA. The best part, their invitation comes from hottie McHotterson, River Pena, the eye-candy Twiggs regular who founded the company. Quickly, Jess learns that she has matched, on a cellular level, and at the highest match the company has EVER seen, with Dr. Hottie! The question is, what will she do with this information?

I am in love with this story! Jess is totally relatable as a single-mother just trying to make the world right. Juno is the most darling of young children; she’s astoundingly bright, observant, and somehow totally gets the world at her young age of seven. Fizzy brings in this light and humor that is beyond amazing – if only all women could have a BFF like her. I cried from laughing so hard.

Add to my tears the joys of a crush, the tensions of a new love, the nervousness of being left alone, the truth of heartbreak – ugh – I LOVE THIS BOOK!! I am not bothered one bit that the story was predictable – I just plain don’t care. It’s all about the road taken – the journey I’m lead on. And I will take this journey again and again. I will also read any book Christina Lauren writes – the talent is just that good! Mark it down, May 18th, the day your heart will explode (and also the day this book hits shelves)!

Thank you to NetGalley, Gallery Books, and Christina Lauren for the generous gift of an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Another great read by Christina Lauren! The Soulmate Equation was another great read, one of my favorites of CL's books so far. A great job of character development with some amazing relationships. It's crazy to think that our genes could tell so much about our personality and characteristics- and if this were not fiction, it's crazy to think how science can find the right mate for us.

Thanks to Netgalley for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

I have yet to meet a Christina Lauren book that I didn't love, and this is no exception!

The Soulmate Equation was such a cute read. I found myself invested in the characters and really rooting for them from the beginning. Like most Christina Lauren books, this was pretty predictable but I don't say that in a bad way. When I read rom-com, I expect them to be somewhat predictable. These aren't books and stories I am reading because I want be kept guessing the whole time. The fun of these novels isn't trying to figure out who is going to end up with who, but rather being taken along for the ride and getting to see a relationship unfold That is exactly what we get to do with Jess and River.

River and Jess would be the first people to tell you they are NOT meant for each other - no way, no how. Then River's new genetically based match making company says they're a 98% match - essentially soulmates. Skeptical at best, Jess is given an incentive to test out the science and give it a chance..

This is a feel good story about family, love, friendship and all the bumps and pivots that need to be made along the way to a possible happily ever after.

Thank you NetGalley, and Gallery Books for the advanced copy and the opportunity to read this book! All thoughts are my own.

Christina Lauren return with another fun, contemporary romance--this time infusing a dash of genetic science into their own recognizable style of storytelling. When a new dating app promises scientific compatibility scores between partners, it seems to be a game-changer for anyone hoping for that chance at happily ever after. When single mother Jess finds herself matched with one of the company's founders, her quiet life is turned upside down. From bad first impressions to corporate investments and a national spotlight, Jess and her scientifically-discovered soulmate must explore the difference between a compatibility score and the often-messy reality that is real life.

With their usual banter, modern flair, and cast of enjoyable characters, Christina Lauren deliver a sweet and heartfelt romance where facts, hearts, and life get tangled and the only way toward happily-ever-after is to take a risk. While the novel's beginning is a little slow, the natural humor and tender romance make this a delightfully enjoyable read that is well-worth the time of any romance lover.

It should be no surprise to anyone on my page at this point, but I am a huge CLO fan!! Self acclaimed president of their fan club, that I know this isn't a real thing, but maybe I will make it a thing! And I am about to make a very big statement with this review....

The Soulmate Equation is one of the BEST books they have ever written!! Like right up there with Unhoneymooners... maybe even my new favorite over Unhoneymooners and Josh and Hazel!!!

Told you! Big claims! All before 8am and my second cup of coffee too!

Single mom Jess, is a math whiz that thrives off of numbers and stats. But there are no amount of numbers in the world that can get her to jump back into the dating game. Raised by her grandparents and living across the courtyard from them, they now help with her seven year-old daughter, Juno. Jess works hard, keeps her loved ones close, and whether or not she will admit it, she is lonely.

GeneticAlly is a new DNA-based matchmaking company that is getting a lot of buzzed and predicted to change the world of online dating. But is it really possible to find your soulmate through DNA?

Jess get's the science and can respect the numbers, but when her test shows a 98% match, which is unheard of, she is a skeptic. And her match... GeneticAlly's founder, Dr. River Pena, who she has had a few run ins with and has been less than impressed... there is NO WAY! He is stuck up, stubborn, lacks all personality, but is drop dead gorgeous, nope, no way they are soulmates. But with GeneticAlly going public in a few short months and a match this high, the PR opportunity and buzz it would create cannot be ignored! So, GeneticAlly would like them to get to know each other. As they begin to go on casual outings together and larger company functions, Jess begins to realize that they are maybe matched for a reason.

Honestly, I could gush on and on about this one for hours. This is CLo at their finest!! Funny, witty, full of charm, and oh the slow burn of an enemies to lovers story! The story is adorable, the characters are fantastic! Even the supporting characters - Pops, Nana Jo and then Fizzy!! Fizzy, the crazy, funny, amazing best friend! And then the dynamic between Jess and River... and then throw in the dynamic between Jess, River and Juno... I am bursting at the seams!

I have seen some reviews saying this was another predictable CLo novel. Which I mean, I can't disagree with, we know how the story is going to end before we begin. But isn't that we love about CLo and the contemporary romance genre as a whole if I am being honest? Plus, the ride along the way it worth every minute!!!

Okay, promise I am wrapping up this ten paragraph essay professing my love to CLo and The Soulmate Equation.

This one comes out on May 18th!! Which is also the week of my daughters first birthday, so I am going to pretend CLo knew that and picked that date as a gift to me, to really make it one of the best weeks ever!

So, May 18th!! Pre-order now!

This book had be gripped from the very start. I absolutely loved the friendship between Jess and Fizzy. It felt so natural and supportive and I felt so confident in their relationship.

Dr. Peña - how was I attracted to a guy I’ve never seen! The authors described him in such an amazing way and then his personality really started to shine in the book. I love characters who are thoughtful and good at their core and I really felt that with River.

I loved Jess’s relationship with her grandparents, my grandma was a huge part of my upbringing so I would really relate with how she regarded them.

Also, I don’t know for SURE, but I think this is the first CLo novel I’ve read that was in 3rd person. Normally they have dual perspective alternating chapters, so it was really interesting to be in 3rd person omniscient.

This was adorable in a cute and nerdy way. Chemistry was great too! Highly recommend !

GeneticAlly is a new matchmaking company that uses DNA to see how compatible people are. In The Soulmate Equation single mom Jess is avoiding dating and finding love when a founder at GeneticAlly unexpectedly comes into her life. After having her DNA tested, Jess finds out she has gotten the highest recorded compatibility number with the founder, River. Jess and River have to figure out if they want to pursue the relationship and if they can live up to the expectation that they are basically genetically perfect soulmates.

I LOVED this book. It was only my second Christina Lauren read but I definitely plan on making them one of my auto read authors! This book was realllllly science and statistics based, which is something I didn’t love. However the cute and original love story definitely outweighed my dislike of the science talk.

Liked:
-Super original concept
-Jess’s family & support system
-Jess & River’s relationship was so cute!

Disliked:
-A LOT of science and statistics talk
-Slightly predictable

This title is a great read-alike for those who enjoyed The Rosie Project! A fun and flirty take on matchmaking services with a few unexpected twists. I loved this title and think our patrons will find it fun as well.

Christina Lauren is a go-to author for me. Sometimes I love their books (Roomies) sometimes I don't (sorry, Beautiful Bastard), but I read them all, because I never know what to expect and I am always entertained. Christina Lauren have been moving away from hot, steamy romance and more into chick lit territory over the years and The Soulmate Equation falls more in the chick lit category. The story is clever and of the times: single mom Jess tries out a dating app that matches you to your soulmate using your DNA. She is shocked to be matched with Dr. River Pena, the lead geneticist and creator of the app. Although she is skeptical of the match (River has not done much to make a good impression on her in any of their pre-match encounters) she agrees to get to know him to see if they connect. The characters in this story are great, Jess, River, her daughter Juno and best friend Fizzy all come alive for the reader, and they keep you turning the pages. I will say, that the story was a bit predictable, and Christina Lauren obviously did their homework in researching this book because there are numerous paragraphs explaining the data, and statistics and science behind the dating app. Frankly it was a bit too much information and caused the story to lose momentum at points. Overall, this was an enjoyable read, even if it was not one of my favorites by these authors,

Well, my favorite authors, the pair known as Christina Lauren have done it again and this may be my favorite books of theirs so far. River, a geneticist, and Jess, a statistician, see each other every day at Twiggs, a local coffee shop, but don't speak. In fact, Jess thinks he is an arrogant (albeit sexy) jerk and he doesn't even seem to know she exists. She sits there every day with her romance author friend, Fizzy to work and both are flabbergasted when they find out he has created a DNA matchmaking company, GeneticAlly. When in a moment of desperation Jess submits her sample to GeneticAlly she is shocked to find she has the highest match the company has ever seen and with none other than Dr. River Pena himself. What follows is a story sure to pull your heart strings and somehow, get you interested in genetics! A fresh take on the current trend of dating app romance novels, The Soulmate Equation, is truly a diamond in the rough or maybe even a Diamond Match of a book for all of us romantics at heart.

Looking for a science experiment about dating, love and relationships? Look no further.

Jess is lonely, having been raising her daughter as a single mom. While out, she bumps into a guy who she immediately dislikes, though it's fairly obvious there's a bit of chemistry there. Coincidentally, there's a new company who matches people based on DNA analysis. Jess takes a chance and gets her DNA analyzed by the company. She finds out that she matched with someone at the highest level possible. Who is her match? Of course it is Dr. River Pena, the guy she already met and dislikes.

The company asks them to give dating a try to test their scientific results, and they will even pay Jess -- money she desperately needs for herself and her daughter. This hate/love trope is one of my favorites, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed at this unique take on love and possibility.

Amazing as always! Character are well- developed and the story is top notch. Even minor characters are thought out in detail to add dimension to the story.

I received an ARC of this from NetGalley. This book was only ok. One of my least favorite Christina Laurent books.

I love Christina Lauren! They are an automatic buy every time I hear about a new book coming out. The Soulmate Equation was amazing! I read over half of the book in one day and was disappointed that I was going to be reaching to end of the book so soon. Christina Lauren books are hard to put down - they are that good. I was laughing out loud at several of the situations that Jess and River got themselves into. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Read this book!
