Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I did Christina Lauren’s other books I read. I think one of the reason was I know the test results from the synopsis so it takes too long to get that point. You are 50% into the book still there is no action. I wish it has more mystery or action that could keep me excited and turn the pages. I

Christina Lauren's best rom-com yet! Single mom Jess is constantly trying to make ends meet, and her best friend is begging for her to get back into the dating game. Enter: a DNA matchmaking company? Jess is unconvinced, but the hot coffee shop guy she keeps bumping into of COURSE just happens to be the CEO of the dating company. My favorite parts of this tag-team writing duo are the dialogues between Jess and her best friend Fizzy. I like to think that because the two authors are friends who make up this writing them, this dialogue is authentic to the two of them, and what keeps the novel sparkling and fresh and such a fun read. Of course, the romance is also filled with wonderful tension and genuine emotion; it's just lovely. Pick it up this summer on the way to your vacation spot!

I'm always anxious for the latest release from these ladies, and this didn't disappoint! It was a fun, cute, fast-paced read - exactly what I've come to expect and (usually) love from this author duo. I enjoyed the unique concept of the story. Especially from the perspective of science bringing two adults together, but ultimately they make the decision to be and stay together. Some of the scientific jargon got to be a little much at times, but it's easy enough to skim over.

📝SUMMARY:
You’ve got single mom, Jess Davis out here trying to provide the best life for her sweet 7yo daughter, Juno when she finds out she’s lost one of her biggest clients. Then you’ve got River Peña, aka “Americano” who is one of the regulars at her coffee spot. He happens to also be CEO of a new dating app “GeneticALLY” where it can match you with your potential soulmate. So when Jess decides to turn in her kit (picture a 23andme type of kit), can you guess who comes up as a match? An unseen before 98% match?! None other than the CEO himself.

Let’s talk about what’s to LOVE:
🧬The concept of finding a soulmate through a DNA match
🦸‍♀️Jess, a bad ass mom! Working hard while being there for everyone she cares about
🙆🏻‍♂️River - I can’t even describe how bad I want this man 🤤🤣
👯‍♀️Her BFF Fizzy, that friend you know you can count on no matter what and genuinely wants to see YOU happy
🌶Those swoon worthy scenes minus the 🧀 (I can’t stand the kind that me cringe) these scenes def had that signature CLo spice 👌🏽😅

What I didn’t love:
👎🏽 The sciency parts had my eyes reading gibberish so it went over my head but it was still interesting to think about & at least it was only for a few split seconds.

Christina Lauren have another hit on their hands with The Soulmate Equation! Romantic, witty, and full of wonderful characters, this book put a smile on my face and had my heart all aflutter.

At first glance, the incredibly scientific concept feels like it would be completely antithetical to a good romance, but it is a testament to the authors' skill that they pull off something this good. I appreciate that they didn't rely on a leading lady that was overly quirky to the point of feeling disingenuous - Jess manages to be grounded and immensely funny at the same time. There were a few odd lines that knocked down the half star for me, but I definitely think that this is one of Christina Lauren's best books of the past few years.

Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review!

.This book was exactly what I hoped it would be. The unique storyline was refreshing, and I loved the development of Jess and River's relationship. Plus, I was charmed by every single secondary character! You'll definitely want this one for your summer reading.

🚨New Release coming from Christina Lauren, May 18th. When a new book comes out they are a must read for me and never disappoint! They are quick, fun and rom com at it’s finest.

“The Soulmate Equation” 🧬was no different. Jess is a single mom feeling kinda lonely so she decided to take the DNA test that can maybe find her soulmate. Little did she know that she would have a 98 % match with the app developer, River. So for PR and their own curiosity they decide to get to know each other. Will a dna test decide their destiny or will they have a choice in their future? Are there even such things as soulmates? Jess and River take you on a fun journey either way and worth the read.

I forgot how much I enjoy a happy book 😂

I spend so much time reading books with harsh topics that are super important. I pride myself on that.

When @netgalley approved me for this ARC , I knew what a treat this was going to be!

I enjoyed EVERY SECOND of getting lost in The Soulmate Equation. I love a good enemy to lovers plot. I love a strong female friendship. I love books that show the importance of loving our grandparents. I love River and Juno’s relationship most of all.

The Soulmate Equation is available May 18th and I highly recommend you pick it up! Thank you to @netgalley @christinalauren and @gallerybooks for my advanced readers copy of this incredible book!

I absolutely adored this novel. It was such a heartwarming story. My husband and I lived in San Diego for five years so reading a book set in that area was really exciting. I thought the storyline of The Soulmate Equation was really unique and I just loved the connection that Jess and River had. This book had me laughing, it had me "Awwwwing", it had me hugging it and smiling through the whole damn thing. It was SO. GOOD! My favorite part was probably how well River and Juno hit it off- They were absolutely adorable and my momma heart fell for River in that instant. Do not hesitate with this book- you need it!

Also, where can I find a best friend like Fizzy? Because I need one immediately!

This book is another winner from Christina and Lauren. While there were sometimes when things were predictable I still enjoyed the overall story. They always come up with quicky characters who help drive the story forward and this book was no different. I loved Fizzy and Juno they kept me laughing throughout. I enjoyed watching Jessica and River grow into themselves throughout the book and were able to overcome their issues by the end of the story.

This book was so fun! I absolutely adored the premise of finding your love match through DNA. But, can you imagine if your match is someone you feel anything but compatible with?? Steamy, hot, fun! really loved this one by Christina Lauren. thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an ARC for my honest review.

Christina Lauren duo, do it again. This engaging romance brings the mysteries of science and love side-by-side in a journey to Happily Ever After. The characters feel authentic and the reader can easily pick out someone similar in their own lives. A fast-paced read that had me smiling thru the final pages.

Ahhh...this novel nails it with steamy romance, witty banter, and solid relationships! It's only the second CLo book I've read, but I love it so much and am definitely going to need to read more of their backlist.

Although I didn't comprehend all the science and math they spouted about genetics, it didn't make me feel lost or annoyed - if anything, it gave me warm fuzzies for Jess and River's mutual smartypants-love (one of my favorites!) Their chemistry was fantastic - so electric! And the communication was on point - I have an issue with very poor communication in books, and am thankful that this one took a more open route.

The secondary characters, like Jess's best friend Fizzy, and Jess's daughter and grandparents, are equally quirky and lovable. They definitely added unique dimension to the story.

Overall, this sciency romance was engaging, exciting, and lovely. My nerd heart is totally swooning! Highly recommend!

Thanks to Gallery Books for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

4.5 Stars!

This was the story I didn’t even know I needed. It gave me a good feeling. It was a cute story and low on the angst.

Jess and her friend Fizzy often hang out at a coffee shop to work. They can’t help but notice River when he comes in to get his coffee every morning. He’s easy to notice. He’s hot, but he rubs Jess the wrong way - so right off the bat you know that Jess and River will wind up together. There are no surprises there, but seeing how their relationship started was certainly different.

Jess is a statistician. She geeks out at numbers. River is a PhD working in genetics. On paper they are perfect for one another, and as it turns out, there are actual papers that show they will in fact be perfect together. Now just to convince them.

Other than Jess’s mother, this story was filled with a great group of lovable characters. Her best friend, Fizzy, is a romance author often jotting down notes for story ideas. Her daughter, Juno, adds some cuteness to the story, while her grandparents are a great example of true love.

If you’re looking for a fun, heart-warming story, I highly recommend this one.

If you've liked Christina Lauren's books in the past, you're going to LOVE this book. It's a fast, fun, engaging read with fantastic characters; from a grumpy scientist, adorable 7-year old, fun grandparents, and a great best friend and I haven't even mention single-mom Jessica. The story-line is a different take on finding your perfect match using a dating app that I found quite intriguing. This book does NOT disappoint & will go down as one of my top picks by these authors. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This is a classic enemies-to-lovers story with a little Pride and Prejudice undertone. Life is messy and bad things happen and sometimes things go totally off the rails. What’s neat about the DNA love match idea is the struggle of “are we together because we want to be or because we feel like we should be”. Because sometimes good things actually happen and they’re almost too good to be true and so difficult to trust.

The statistics and algorithms were totally over my head, but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything because of my lack of comprehension. I was so into the book that I think I finished it in under 24 hours!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

“What’s that face you’re making?” Fizzy drew an imaginary circle around Jess’s expression. “I’m blanking on the word.”“This?” Jess pointed to her own head. “Defeat?” Fizzy nodded, mumbling aloud as she typed: “‘She glanced away from his penetrating gaze, defeat coloring her features a milky gray.’”“Wow. Thank you.”“I am not writing about you. Your expression was just timely.”

“This is part of life, Jess. Emergencies and responsibility and managing small fires all the time— but it’s only part of it. There are quiet moments, too . Good moments. Moments when we can ask for more.”

Finished The Soulmate Equation last night and loved it! I was pleasantly surprised because Christina Lauren is sometimes a hit or miss for me. This was also one of those books where life is messy and the circumstances aren’t necessarily desirable but you run with it and make due. Loved the characters. Loved the romance. The premise was very intriguing as well; a new matchmaking company that finds soulmates through DNA. It was so entertaining. Loved it. Thank you @netgalley for the ARC to read and review. The Soulmate Equation releases on May 18th!

Christina Lauren is one of those auto buy authors for me. No matter what, I feel like I have to have it. Unfortunately, they are not always as good as I want them to be. This was one of those. It really fell flat for me. After In a Holidaze, I was really excited for their books again. I thought this would be a cute read for spring. I was not a fan of the characters and I struggled to force myself to pick it up each night. While it wasn't terrible, it just wasn't as good as some previous books of theirs that I have my expectations set to. Hopefully the next one is back on track for me!

The Soulmate Equation kept me up until 1am. Christina Lauren’s books tend to be that captivating, so engrossing you do not want to stop reading. This was definitely the case.
Jess and River got a match, a pretty unbelievable one, at many different levels. Now that some feelings might be surging….what to do about them?
The story was quite original and the DNA matching was interesting (I wish that would exist). The characters were really nice and complex too. I liked River from the start, I liked Jess too but I thought she was a bit quick to judge River in the beginning, but I could understand her and connect with her in other things. I appreciated that they were both very mature, that they care about the facts and that family was important to them. Jess and River as a couple were great and the characters had great chemistry. That is probably the thing I love the most about CL’s books, their characters and their relationship are both well thought and it shows. The secondary characters like Fizzy and Juno were great too.
Overall, it was a great read. I deeply enjoyed it; it was fun and riveting, with the right amount of romance and a dash of steaminess.

I am fairly certain that Christian Lauren can do me no wrong. While I haven’t been reading her books for a super long time, I have really enjoyed the ones I have read. She creates well-rounded, relateable characters and puts them into fun settings. I like to call her books the Netflix style movies. Easy reads, enjoyable and perfect for a summer day with an adult beverage in your hand. I love Jess’s freelance job, harried life and single mom-ness and River’s uptight demenor. The new aged Tinder situation was also really intriging and kept me wanting to read. Really enjoyed this one.
