This book had be gripped from the very start. I absolutely loved the friendship between Jess and Fizzy. It felt so natural and supportive and I felt so confident in their relationship.

Dr. Peña - how was I attracted to a guy I’ve never seen! The authors described him in such an amazing way and then his personality really started to shine in the book. I love characters who are thoughtful and good at their core and I really felt that with River.

I loved Jess’s relationship with her grandparents, my grandma was a huge part of my upbringing so I would really relate with how she regarded them.

Also, I don’t know for SURE, but I think this is the first CLo novel I’ve read that was in 3rd person. Normally they have dual perspective alternating chapters, so it was really interesting to be in 3rd person omniscient.

This was adorable in a cute and nerdy way. Chemistry was great too! Highly recommend !

GeneticAlly is a new matchmaking company that uses DNA to see how compatible people are. In The Soulmate Equation single mom Jess is avoiding dating and finding love when a founder at GeneticAlly unexpectedly comes into her life. After having her DNA tested, Jess finds out she has gotten the highest recorded compatibility number with the founder, River. Jess and River have to figure out if they want to pursue the relationship and if they can live up to the expectation that they are basically genetically perfect soulmates.

I LOVED this book. It was only my second Christina Lauren read but I definitely plan on making them one of my auto read authors! This book was realllllly science and statistics based, which is something I didn’t love. However the cute and original love story definitely outweighed my dislike of the science talk.

Liked:
-Super original concept
-Jess’s family & support system
-Jess & River’s relationship was so cute!

Disliked:
-A LOT of science and statistics talk
-Slightly predictable

This title is a great read-alike for those who enjoyed The Rosie Project! A fun and flirty take on matchmaking services with a few unexpected twists. I loved this title and think our patrons will find it fun as well.

Christina Lauren is a go-to author for me. Sometimes I love their books (Roomies) sometimes I don't (sorry, Beautiful Bastard), but I read them all, because I never know what to expect and I am always entertained. Christina Lauren have been moving away from hot, steamy romance and more into chick lit territory over the years and The Soulmate Equation falls more in the chick lit category. The story is clever and of the times: single mom Jess tries out a dating app that matches you to your soulmate using your DNA. She is shocked to be matched with Dr. River Pena, the lead geneticist and creator of the app. Although she is skeptical of the match (River has not done much to make a good impression on her in any of their pre-match encounters) she agrees to get to know him to see if they connect. The characters in this story are great, Jess, River, her daughter Juno and best friend Fizzy all come alive for the reader, and they keep you turning the pages. I will say, that the story was a bit predictable, and Christina Lauren obviously did their homework in researching this book because there are numerous paragraphs explaining the data, and statistics and science behind the dating app. Frankly it was a bit too much information and caused the story to lose momentum at points. Overall, this was an enjoyable read, even if it was not one of my favorites by these authors,

Well, my favorite authors, the pair known as Christina Lauren have done it again and this may be my favorite books of theirs so far. River, a geneticist, and Jess, a statistician, see each other every day at Twiggs, a local coffee shop, but don't speak. In fact, Jess thinks he is an arrogant (albeit sexy) jerk and he doesn't even seem to know she exists. She sits there every day with her romance author friend, Fizzy to work and both are flabbergasted when they find out he has created a DNA matchmaking company, GeneticAlly. When in a moment of desperation Jess submits her sample to GeneticAlly she is shocked to find she has the highest match the company has ever seen and with none other than Dr. River Pena himself. What follows is a story sure to pull your heart strings and somehow, get you interested in genetics! A fresh take on the current trend of dating app romance novels, The Soulmate Equation, is truly a diamond in the rough or maybe even a Diamond Match of a book for all of us romantics at heart.

Looking for a science experiment about dating, love and relationships? Look no further.

Jess is lonely, having been raising her daughter as a single mom. While out, she bumps into a guy who she immediately dislikes, though it's fairly obvious there's a bit of chemistry there. Coincidentally, there's a new company who matches people based on DNA analysis. Jess takes a chance and gets her DNA analyzed by the company. She finds out that she matched with someone at the highest level possible. Who is her match? Of course it is Dr. River Pena, the guy she already met and dislikes.

The company asks them to give dating a try to test their scientific results, and they will even pay Jess -- money she desperately needs for herself and her daughter. This hate/love trope is one of my favorites, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed at this unique take on love and possibility.

Amazing as always! Character are well- developed and the story is top notch. Even minor characters are thought out in detail to add dimension to the story.

I received an ARC of this from NetGalley. This book was only ok. One of my least favorite Christina Laurent books.

I love Christina Lauren! They are an automatic buy every time I hear about a new book coming out. The Soulmate Equation was amazing! I read over half of the book in one day and was disappointed that I was going to be reaching to end of the book so soon. Christina Lauren books are hard to put down - they are that good. I was laughing out loud at several of the situations that Jess and River got themselves into. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Read this book!

4.5/5 stars for Christina Lauren's newest title. This writing duo never fails to amaze me and the plot of this book was so unique! I loved the entire storyline and most of the characters, though admittedly the way everything magically came together in the end was unrealistic, it wasn't bad enough that I wouldn't recommend the book. I would have liked a little more heat between Jess and River, but overall I loved it!

I was able to read this book thanks to NetGalley. I am a huge Christina Lauren fan and I was so thrilled to get to read this one. It did not disappoint!
I absolutely loved the characters and the premise.
Single mom Jess keeps meeting River at the local coffee shop. When she and her best friend learn he is the ceo of a new matchmaking company based on genetic components they are skeptical. On a whim, Jess takes the test snd she turns out to have the highest recorded match percentage with my none other than River himself. For publicity snd business they proceed to fake date essentially. At first she can’t stand him. But then her feelings start to change. Maybe there is something to this genetic match making after all.

This is a must read for all fans of this author or all fans of rom coms in general. Highly recommend

I'd give this one between 3.5 and 4. I thought it was cute, but not super original. I've read at least 3 other books with this same plot. I love Christina Lauren. They are one of my favorites for romance. I was more than thrilled to receive this ARC for an honest review from NetGalley. I was just waiting for the climax, and it was pretty anti-climatic in my opinion. I thought it was an easy fun read. I guess I just wanted a little more.

Christina Lauren is one of my favorites, and this book delivered. I absolutely loved it! It reminds me of their older stuff that made me fall in love with them. I loved Jess and River, the build up is completely believable. I am never one to turn down an enemies to lovers story, that is for sure. And Fizzy, Jess’s best friend?? I absolutely adored her and their relationship. Even the kid and grandfather won my heart over. Since Chris and I met on a dating site many years ago, before it was completely accepted, I love reading other stories about it. This one goes a step further with all the science and genetics, made my nerd heart skip a beat. Both characters were quirky enough to keep it interesting. The only thing I wish, is that we got a little more of River’s background. Just because I loved him so much too.

Bottom Line: Read it! This is going to make my top list for 2021.

The Soulmate Equation was a good time. Reading it brought me joy. There was so much to love about it. It was a sweet romance that had so many humorous moments.

Jess was a single mom was just trying to survive. She had a good support system with her grandparents and her best friend, but after seven years she was missing having a partner in her life. When she matched with River over a dating app that was scientifically proven to find best matches, she knew she needed to give their relationship a shot -- even though he had proven to be nothing but a jerk. I loved Jess. She was an intelligent woman who worked hard, loved hard, and tried to take care of those she loved the most. All of her interactions with her grandparents, Fizzy, Juno and even her mother made me love Jess even more.

River is an interesting character. He might have came across as a jerk in the beginning, but I understood it after getting to know him better. He was a gifted scientist who ended up having a lot of redeeming qualities. We got to see these qualities through the time he spent with Jess and her daughter.  I especially loved the moments between River and Juno. River makes me wish Christina Lauren would have given us dual point of view in this book. He wasn't as fleshed out as a character as I wanted him to be, and I think that is because this book was only in Jess's POV.

Jess and River were all kinds of adorable together. They had great chemistry that became apparent over some funny and sweet moments. I do wish I had gotten more of those moments of them getting to know each other better. It was missing a little meat in that area for me. Maybe I'm just being selfish because I wanted more of them falling in love, but it felt like that part might have been glossed over a bit. I also wouldn't have minded more moments with them and Juno since she was so cute.

I do have a few other random comments about The Soulmate Equation. First, it was sort of a slow burn. A relationship between Jess and River doesn't really even start to happen until half way through the book. There was a lot of build up. That's not to say that it was a bad thing. I was just surprised it took as long as it did for them to begin a relationship. Second, there is quite a bit of science regarding the dating app in a couple of parts. Nothing too overwhelming, but it surprised me by how much depth/thought was put into those parts for a romance. Third, when it was all over I was left wanting more. That's a good thing. The ending was adorable and pretty perfect. I just didn't want to leave River and Jess yet. I didn't feel like I had enough time with them as a couple yet.

So, yeah. The Soulmate Equation was a great time. I enjoyed the time I got to spent with the characters, even when I wished their had been more beef to parts of the story. It would make a great beach read or just an escape from life.

5 stars for Christina Lauren’s new books!!

Received this arc from netgalley. Absolutely loved it. The characters were lovable and relatable. The usual Christina Lauren humour and of course I spent a lot of the book with tears in my eyes as with most of their books!
I felt there was going to be a twist somewhere in there. Love never runs smoothly. Up there as one of my favourite CL books.!
Would 100% recommend this book!ccc.

This one started out slow for me. But once I got into it I couldn't put it down. I just had to know how it was going to end. River is so sweet, once we got past his gruff layer. Jess has so much going on, but she keeps it together. This story has everything I expect from Christina Lauren, great characters, and emotions. It made me laugh and it made me cry. Had me rooting for them until the very end. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for a sweet romance.

Review will also be posted to Goodreads and Amazon.

This book is fantastic. Here’s what I loved: nerdy science, strong women, hilarious lines, cute kid, normalized getting rid of people who are not good for you

Great concept, this was a unique plot for me.

In the age of endless dating apps promising true love and the ability to spit into a tube and find your 4th cousins across the world, GeneticAlly is here to combine the two! This new dating app is centered on finding your biological soulmate. The person that you are compatible with in every way, down to your very DNA. The only problem is when you’re not looking for a soulmate and somehow get matched the the grumpy hot man who stole your parking spot and talks like Alexa.

While I really enjoyed Jess’s POV, I couldn’t help wanting more of her best friend, Fizzy, on the pages! I would kill to have a sequel to this book with her finding her true love... But back to Jess. She was pretty likeable but not the most memorable or vibrant lead. I found River more engaging. I liked that although he is seen as a cocky, direct guy, he’s actually shy and a bit insecure. I definitely found myself rooting for him not to mess it up.

I have read a few Christina Lauren books now, and I’m never disappointed. In a Holidaze was one of the few 5 star books I rated last year, and while I didn’t love this one quite as much, I still demolished it in one sitting and would happily recommend it to everyone.

On my way to go look at more Christina Lauren books to read...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC!

This was so addictive! I couldn’t put my phone down! I adored Jess from page one all the way though. She’s down-to-earth, funny, and as a single mom, so relatable. Fizzy is now my favorite side character. Gosh, everyone should have a friend like her. The romance with River was sweet and hilarious. But what I loved about the story the most was the family dynamic. Jess’ support system and how genuine it was. Five stars. Another great work I’m sure everyone will love and adore!
