I struggled with this one. I don't know if it was the plot or maybe I was burnt out on this kind of romance book. I felt like the characters lacked the depth and likability that I was hoping for. It could be that maybe I just wasn't fully feeling the book at the time and made myself read it because I wanted to review it, but it was hard for me. If you like the main concept of the book, then I certainly think readers will enjoy this one! Just for me, at this moment in time, I did not enjoy it as much as I would have hoped to.

Heartbreak for Hire is such a fun concept to think about. Love that it all changed for her when they hired a male—lol

Heartbreak for Hire is a fun, flirty rom-com with a unique premise—a secret agency that gets paid to break hearts. Brimming with witty banter and sizzling chemistry, this book had a lot of potential, but some pacing issues kept it from fully landing for me. Still, it’s an entertaining read with a strong feminist angle and a charming romance. If you’re looking for something light and playful, it’s worth checking out!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

I thought it was a good book. Definitely a light and fast read. I really enjoyed it. A must read book.

With your standard enemies to lovers fare, this book was just ok for me. I tries to really get into it, but I kept putting it down. And up and down. I'm not sure if it was the characters, the story, or the writing, but for me this one was just meh at best.

I received an advanced copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to NetGalley, Gallery Books, and Sonia Hartl. ❤️

This was a fun little romance. I chemistry between the characters was great and I enjoyed Brinkley's journey. It's a little too spicy for my library.

I have high expectations when I start a Chick Lit novel. I enjoy them as a beach read, but they all seem really similar and nothing new or creative. This one blew it out of the water. Brinkley is a woman whose job it is to break the heart of the person who broke yours. Making money and living it up every night seems like the perfect life after she's gone through her own heartbreak. That is until one night when she meets someone who's different. I can't even begin to tell you about how wonderful the storyline and characters throughout this book are. It's a quick read and wonderful!

I initially put off reading this one and was hooked when I picked it up. I read it in a day! The character building, the premise, the chemistry between the main characters was all incredibly well done. Thoroughly enjoyed this!

Heartbreak for Hire by Sonia Hart is an enemies-to-lovers trope. It is filled with somewhat comedies of errors, but mostly unlikeable characters that have minimal morals or likeability. Over all the book was okay, but fell a little flat for me.

Thanks NetGalley for the preview!

This book had so much potential and unfortunately it fell a little short. The characters were all mean and spiteful. I couldn’t believe how much drama was packed into one book. Mark was a liar and Brinkley was miserable. Also the cat sweater thing just was weird.

I wish I hadn’t put off reading this one, I read this in one sitting - it was so good! The premise was really unique and fun and the chemistry between the main characters was electric - this is very much an open door romance.

Heartbreak for Hire had a cute storyline. It was unique and the writing was good. The only thing I can say that I really didn’t care for is some of the dialect between the characters.. I felt at times the min characters were a lot younger than they actually were because of the way they spoke. But overall the book was good and I did enjoy it.

This book had me laughing out loud the entire time. The author's writing of the main character's personality is witty and sarcastic and keeps you on your toes because you never know what’s going to come out of her mouth. I loved her relationship with Mark and was rooting for them the whole time.

Thank you to Gallery Books for the #gifted copy.

I love this romcom! Who doesn't love it when a woman is able to get revenge on men who have done women wrong. YES, YES, YES!!! That alone is worth reading!

Things I love: Fake Dating. Things I love more than Fake Dating? When one of the fake daters is hired.

Thanks to NetGalley / Edelweiss and the publisher for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for a review.

Brinkley works at Heartbreak for Hire which is a revenge service for jilted lovers. I thought the premise was cute but I just couldn’t get invested in either the characters or the story for this one. I thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Ah yes, the rom com that has enemies turn to lovers. This was a cute romance where what you think you want is not actually what you get. A slow burn, easy to read romance that had me rooting for the protagonist. While not my favorite genre, I loved the name of the book as well as the cover. The blurb certainly helped in making my decision.

"Though we didn’t consider ourselves moral by any standards, we cared about women. We wanted to help our clients. In the world at large, men still had the upper hand, and in our own twisted way, we considered what we did an evening of the odds."

While in theory, a business created exact revenge on someone that doesn't treat others well sounds like a fun premise, the execution wasn't what I was looking for. I felt that there were moments when the MCs didn't treat each other well, making it somewhat uncomfortable. This was a book that I was extremely excited for, but unfortunately, it ended up being middle of the road and forgettable for me.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. It was a little light on the romance but some parts had me laughing out loud. I enjoyed the deepness of the characters and side plots were interesting. Like most romance books, it was a quick read. This one followed the "enemies to lovers" trope. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
