There's a lot going on in this enemies to lovers romance. The heroine is employed by an agency that sabotages men who deserve it - they have usually taken advantage of some woman in their life, although there is not a lot of due diligence going on before these missions are undertaken.
While the two main characters were entertaining and had a lot of chemistry, I felt there were too many extraneous plotlines - the heroine's weird relationship with her mother, her desire to be an art gallery owner, and the sudden appearance of a father near the end. Overall, however, it was a fun read with a cute cover, and I'd like to hear more about the other Heartbreakers.

This book is such a great enemies to lovers story. Really a great light fall read!
Great recommendation for your friend who loves both a great love story and horrible guys getting their hearts crushed.
I really hope this author explores the other heartbreaker’s stories in future books!

Honesty, I found this book to be more than I expected. I initially went into it because I thought the Charlie's Angels, heartbreaking agency premise to be really fun and fresh, but to be honest, I didn't love the plot of the book. I also wish we got to know more about the characters a little bit more. I did find the whole father storyline a little bit unnecessary and shoehorned it at the last minute. But overall, I loved reading about the mini-mission sequences.

Sonia Hartl is a new to me author and when I read the book description it drew me in since it's about a female who is hired by women to take men down a notch who have done them wrong in some way. I immediately thought it would be a fun book to read.
Brinkley is one of 4 women employed at Heartbreak for Hire. All 4 women were hired by Margo, the founder, to help them overcome their traumatic events. Margo's claim that she is trying to help the 4 women gets weak as the story progresses. Each of the women specializes in taking down men who were guilty of the same thing men did to them - ex. belittles women or cheats on women. Brinkley claims she'll stop working at Heartbreak once she has enough money saved to pursue her dream of opening an art gallery. Turns out she's an artist who loves to paint.
When Margo hires men, Brinkley is shocked to find her most recent target, Mark, is now her trainee and will be working with her, Mark works at the university but longs to be a middle school teacher. Neither is doing what they really want and Mark taking a job at Heartbreak for Hire just seemed a bit odd as there's no backstory on why.
Brinkley and Mark are your typical enemies to lovers couple and have some deep chemistry, though they fight it quite a bit which results in some steamy parts as their passion ignites and can't be tamed.
I liked both of the main characters, Brinkley and Mark, overall and found them to be pretty relatable. I was totally rooting for Brinkley and Mark as they brought out the best in each other. One of the best conflicts in the book was the relationship Brinkley has with her mom. Her relationship with Margo had the potential to be more as did the co-worker relationships at Heartbreaks for Hire. The other women made somewhat random appearances.
Brinkley develops and grows as a person throughout the story and eventually comes to realize that she no longer needs to get revenge on other men for what her ex did to her - the best way to deal with it is to work on yourself - and is finally able to move on and pursue her dreams.
Overall, I really enjoyed this rom-com as it was an enjoyable, quick read. It was funny, steamy, and enjoyable.

** Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion. **
I loved this book! It was such a cute and fun story line! The main character is so funny! I loved all of the characters. This book has drama, friendship, comedy and romance. There were a few twists and it always kept me engaged in the book.

Heartbreak for Hire was a very fun enemies-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, which, turns out, is maybe my new favorite genre? Brinkley and Mark have amazing chemistry and it was good to see that they brought the best in each other which sometimes is not the case with this genre. That said, the actual business of heartbreaking made me uncomfortable as some of the stuff these women did definitely felt illegal and there wasn't a good system where they did background checks on their customers. I would have liked to see the characters be even more critical of that. But overall, read it in one sitting!

This book was a really fun Rom Com! The plot was unique and the story was witty, funny and sweet. I loved the banter between Brinkley and Mark. Their chemistry was also on point. Overall I really enjoyed this read for the unique storyline and the sizzling romance!!!

I’m revealing my age here, but sometimes, I find it hard to read ebooks. My eyes hurt after a long session, and as someone who has always relished curling up in bed with a book, it’s just not the same. It’s hard to curl up in bed with my iPad! So when I find myself hunkering down with an ebook, I know it’s a good one. I could not put down Heartbreak for Hire. It had me captivated from the first page and I blew through it over the course of a day. It had everything I want in a romance!
Brinkley is an artist with dreams of opening her own gallery. But that takes money, and with her “useless” (according to her mother anyway) art degree, she needs to get creative when it comes to saving. When she is offered a job at Heartbreak for Hire after a brutal breakup, she jumps at the chance to enact her revenge fantasies all while earning a whole lotta cash. Brinkley is hired by various women who are having trouble with egotistical men and it is Brinkley’s job to find unique ways to humiliate them. Usually she is hired by fellow employees to take down bosses or male coworkers who do everything from sexually harass their peers to steal their work. When she is hired to humiliate Mark, she can’t help but feel like he might not actually be deserving of her treatment, and after she hooks up with him–an H4H serious no no–she has to figure out what she is really doing with her career. And then when her boss–a woman who has promised all of her female employees a safe and empowered space–changes the business model to include male heartbreakers, Brinkley is really pushed to reevaluate. And THEN Mark shows up as the male heartbreaker she is supposed to train and oversee. Throughout the course of the book, Brinkley has a lot to reckon with: her career, her relationship with her mother, and her growing feelings for Mark. Of course, in the end, she is able to find her happily ever after.
I think what so brilliantly captivated me from the beginning of this book is Sonia’s voice. She is able to effortlessly combine humor and heart, and that is such a difficult thing to do. Also, this book get super steamy from the get, which I am here for. I loved following Brinkley’s journey, her interactions with her mother were so relatable, and her job struggles felt so real. Sonia weaves together multiple issues in Brinkley’s life in a way that feels so organic and it reads so beautifully. I loved Mark and his sweater vests, I am always here for a nerdy hero. And all of the side characters were so well drawn, from the condescending boss to the supportive best friends. Really, this was just a super fun and entertaining read that captured my interest and held it!

Originally, I was planning on giving this a three star rating; the story was cute and unique, but I felt the relationship was a bit underdeveloped. It went from lust to love real quick - I don't know if the passing of time just wasn't written well or if the relationship itself lacked something.
However, I bumped it up for the unique premise - it reminded me of the Heartbreakers movie starting Jennifer Love Hewitt - but instead of a mother-daughter team, you have a dynamic girl gang. Additionally, it earned that extra star because those steamy scenes were just so dang good - wish there were more of them!

This whole concept seemed fantastical to me. However, I gamely soldiered on because the book was written with humor. I liked the personal growth of the female protagonist. I disliked the dramatic twist and turns that seemed like something out of a soap opera. The male protagonist was kind of a tool, but all's well that ends well, right? Library patrons may enjoy this title, but it definitely was not one of my favorites.

This is a Hate to Love Rom Com and a Workplace enemies to lover Rom Com is typically one of my favorites. I’m not going to pretend I loved this one. The writing ok! The characters, most I did not like. But most of all I felt the heartbreak just to get ahead was not for me.
Thanks for the opportunity from Netgalley for my honest review.

Overall this was a cute book. I didn't love it nearly as much as I wanted to. But it was steamy, romantic and would make a great summer read!

Heartbreak for Hire was a book with an interesting concept, but at the end of the day didn't hit me in the feels. We get a taste of what our main character Brinkley does for a living working for H4H in the first chapter, and then move on to her facing her next target, Markus, who will be our love interest. The meet-cute started off well, and then immediately escalated into a romantic encounter that didn't feel all that realistic.
Brinkley was the most well-developed character, and her fraught relationship with her mother was one of the best conflicts. However, there were plenty of side characters who felt very flat, including Markus our love interest, Emma the best friend, and Margo the boss (I would have liked to have known what drove her, especially since she started as this avenging woman and then turned into a cartoon villain).
At one point while reading this book, I set it down and didn't pick it up again for another 2 days, which isn't like me. I just wasn't invested in the characters. I will say the ending tied everything up nicely. This was an enjoyable book overall, but forgettable.

I have a love/hate relationship with this book. On one hand I really enjoyed the banter between Brinkley and Mark. And the other?? The storyline could use a makeover. Like a little less bashing on the academic department and more focus on Brinkley and her career, and her love for painting.
I can’t hate on the H4H company too much because there was a time in my life when I probably would’ve said yes if Margo approached me with a job opportunity. That was after moving from one bad relationship to another, so I can’t speak on behalf of everyone who’s experienced a toxic relationship. But...one guy?? One bad relationship and you want to punish EVERY guy?? Not to mention this is entirely one-sided so you have no idea what the whole story is. It just seemed a little excessive to me. The first several chapters made me feel like I needed to really hate men in general just to find any humor in this story. If anything I was more uncomfortable than entertained.
Also, being enemies-to-lovers in the workplace should’ve ended up earning extra brownie points from me. I’m a sucker for the angst in a good slow burn. What I despise is having cringey sex scenes randomly thrown in the narrative. I skimmed over or skipped them all together. I’m an adult: I don’t need every bodily fluid and sound spelled out for me. Give me all the emotional feels PLEASE.
Again, these are my thoughts and opinions and what I expected out of a contemporary romance novel. I’m picky about anything modern I read and this particular book just failed to miss the mark.

Heartbreak for Hire!
Okay, wow I actually loved this one!! I haven’t really read a book like this before!
Brinkley works at Heartbreak For Hire (H4H), an agency who takes on female clients and helps them humiliate men who have wronged them and get revenge. One of her jobs goes off the rails, and then the same guy she was hired to destroy and paid to take down is hired by H4H to work alongside her.
This was so well done! Enemies (ish) to coworkers to lovers, this book has it all. Drama. Twists. Parental issues. Strong friendship. Heartache and love.
Brinkley is a hard worker who was jilted in a previous relationship, hence why she took this lucrative job. Enter Mark, who she was hired to take down after he allegedly used his coworkers ideas to get ahead. After spending time with him (and working next to him!) she realizes that he isn’t all that bad of a guy. An adjunct professor and a metal detecting lover, she finds herself falling for him (he’s hot in a sweater vest, too).
I loved Brinkley and Mark! They were both such strong characters (despite Brinkley’s horrific dating past). And their chemistry was off the charts! LOTS of steam in this one!!
This book tackles relationship abuse, how to grow from it, tense relationships with your parents and not giving up your dreams.
5/5 stars for SURE. I’m absolutely going to buy a physical copy of this one. I loved it so much!
Thank you for the chance to review this ARC!

Brinkley knows what she wants - to be an artist who has a gallery that supports other artists. But is she doing that? Nope. She's working for a revenge firm - getting payback for women who have been wronged by men. And that is something Brinkley knows all too well. But when one of the targets turns out to be a person with whom Brinkley has undeniable chemistry, she may need to reevaluate her lifestyle. Mark, her target, is an associate professor who is looking to earn a coveted full-time position in the dog eat dog world of academia. But soon he's her coworker as Heartbreak 4 Hire goes coed. Will their relationship last amongst the chaos? And will Brinkley let her life become one she wants to lead?
An electric romp through Chicago, Heartbreak for Hire is a fun romance, but it's predictable. With excellent swoon content, Hartl has written a punchy love story complete with a tiny, colorful umbrella.

Brinkley Saunders has a secret.
To everyone in the academic world she left behind, she lost it all when she dropped out of grad school. Once a rising star following in her mother’s footsteps, she’s now an administrative assistant at an insurance agency—or so they think.
First, Thank you to Netgalley and Gallery Books for the ARC of Heartbreak for Hire prior to it's release in July!
An adorable, can't put down book that made me laugh out loud and wish that Brinkley Saunders was my friend. Oh how I wish she could take down some of my past ex's. I loved this book sooooo much. The characters, the setting, the plot, all unique. The sex scenes were a little porny but hey why not. Characters were well written and the banter back and forth was not boring or cliche. An all around great rom-com beach read for this summer.
If you enjoy a well written story that meshes romance, great characters, and encouraging goals and dreams, then this book might be for you.

I thought this was a really cute and fun read and it was easy to binge in a day! The idea of working at a “heart break for hire” business that specializes in bringing men with egos, who have cheated, etc... down a peg was intriguing and can we talk about the steam!!! Lot’s of steamy scenes in this one and it’s been a while since I read a steamy book so I was all over it.
I wasn’t too heavily invested in the characters beyond it being a cute Rom com though.
Still, I would definitely recommend this one for fans of steamy binge-able romances.

First of all, Thank you to Gallery Books and Netgalley for the ARC of Heartbreak for Hire by Sonia Hartl in exchange for an honest review.
Publishing Date: July 27, 2021.
Heartbreak for Hire is a very unique book with an intriguing and fresh plot. The girls work for a secret service that specializes in revenge against men that suck. I thought the plot was hilariously fun with some drunken antics that made me laugh.
The one thing that really bothered me in this book was the way like men and women were so horrible with each other. It just rubbed me the wrong way but in the end, it didn’t ruin the book.

Overall Impression: I liked the premise and basic plot of this book, but didn’t go deep enough to be more than a cute fun story.
This is the story of Brinkley and her job as a professional heartbreaker, think Failure to Launch but to break egotistical men. She lets her guard down and falls for one of her targets. The story gets twisty when he starts working as a heartbreaker under her.
It was a cute story with a few very steamy open door scenes, but there was a lot of deep backstory than the author seemed to glance over. I wish we had heard more about Brinkley and Mark’s past, Like how Brinkley is getting over the psychological damage from her ex and Mark’s troubled high school years. The main conflict at the end was definitely an unexpected twist (I had considered it early on then wrote it off), and I did enjoy how they got back together at the end, but it seemed a bit rushed.
I knew at the first 50 pages that this wasn’t going to be my favorite book, but I did still mostly enjoy reading it, I just wanted more, cause it definitely had potential.
