Webb is one of my go to authors. She has great characters and intriguing story lines. The first chapter of this book threw me - it didn’t make sense until the very end. It is helpful to have read the first book in the Devlin & Falco series Trust No One prior to this one. Although the references to book one are sufficiently explained, the background on the characters does help.

This is the second in the Devlin and Falco series. I didn't read the first book, and while I was still able to enjoy this one, I'm feeling I definately want to go back and read the first. It's been awhile since I've read Debra Webb...and now I'm wondering why I've been neglecting her books because this one was a fantastic read! Devlin and Falco end up in the middle of a case involving the execution style death of a DDA and a local businessman. They suspect a drug hit. Before they can get far the case is taken over by the DEA and tragedy strikes close to Devlin and her daughter Tori. Things start progressing at a frantic pace. They enlist the help of Sadie Cross, a former cop and currently a private detective. Sadie is trying to recover some lost memories from when she was working undercover, and she also had ties to the victims. The story moves along quickly and you can never be sure who is who, or what their motives are. Surprises abound....with the biggest at the very end. I happily recommend Gone Too Far if you enjoy a good suspenseful story.
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Devlin and Falco series. The characters are well developed and interesting. Devlin and Falco are called to the scene of an execution style double homicide. Their investigation becomes more complicated with the involvement of the DEA, a Mexican drug cartel and the addition of a police investigation into an school incident involving Kerri Devlin’s daughter Tori. Sadie Cross, a private detective who was introduced in the previous book in the series, plays a pivotal role in this storyline. She’s missing memories during the time she was held captive when an undercover investigation went horribly wrong. How these seemingly separate cases collide makes for an engrossing reading experience.

I was "introduced" to Debra Webb back several months ago and I could not get enough of her books. She is an amazing author who will take you down some of the scariest backroads you never knew existed. This book is just like that. You will be glued to your seat to see what is going to happen next. You will never be sorry you picked up a Debra Webb book.

I received an ebook ARC from Netgalley and this is my voluntary, honest review.

This is the second in the Devlin and Falco series, and I have to admit up front that I haven’t read the first one, but I don’t think it mattered all that much. The author does a good job of setting the scene, introducing Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco as a pair of detectives in Birmingham, Alabama, on a squad called in to investigate crimes of a significant and sensitive nature. The murder of a deputy district attorney definitely qualifies, but when it starts to become clear drugs are involved, the DEA quickly take over the case and Devlin and Falco are sidelined.

This isn’t such a bad thing, as Kerri Devlin is quickly distracted by a personal tragedy unfolding, when a friend of her daughter’s suffers a terrible fall at school and Kerri’s daughter is suspected of being involved. I admit I spotted the ‘big twist’ about Alice’s true identity almost the first moment it was brought up, but we had to wait to discover it when former undercover agent Sadie Cross gets a look at Alice.

Honestly, this is more the Devlin and Cross series, at least from this book. Scenes are pretty much exclusively from either Devlin or Cross’s perspective, with the occasional one thrown in from Devlin’s daughter. I don’t think we really got a look at Falco’s POV at all; he’s relegated to being a nice, supportive sidekick, which from reviews, I don’t think was the case in the first book, so if you’re a big Falco fan after that one, you might feel a bit let down here.

I actually really enjoyed it, however. I liked Devlin, I particularly liked Sadie Cross, and I’d definitely be interested in reading more in this series. Five stars for a good read.

This one was pretty good. I liked getting to know Tori better. It's starts with an incident at school and I liked the family aspect finally being rounded out. Again, the two detectives were a good set but I didn't love having Sadie's POV. The mystery was good, kept me turning pages.

Kerri Devlin has her hands full with a double homicide on her hands. It doesn't help when her daughter Tori and her friends are allegedly involved with an injury to another girl at school. With her partner Luke Falco at her side, the two enlist the help of former detective-turned-PI Sadie Cross, who was the last person who spoke to one of the victims. Sadie is struggling with lost memories due to her last undercover mission, and as she digs deeper she realizes her past is somehow intertwined with the present.

This book was an engaging read that had many twists, turns and surprises. Falco's relationship with Devlin has flourished in the past year and he has become a close and important part of her and Tori's family. An amazing, page-turning book and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Thank you Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read this book.

In this second of the series, we return to the city of Birmingham, AL and the lives of Major Investigations Division Detectives Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco. Devlin and Falco have just landed a double homicide at a tobacco shop and bar where the owner, Leo Kurtz, and the new DDA (Deputy District Attorney) Asher Walsh have been bound and executed. There is no apparent connection to the two so they have their work cut out for them. Then before they get started good, the DEA steps in and takes lead on the case. Apparently Walsh has been investigating a major Cartel drug ring with ties in the city. Life has been tough on Kerri's family over the last year since her niece was murdered. Things become worse when her daughter is tied in some way to an accident at school where another student fell down the stairs in front of Tori and two friends. Accident or was she pushed? Sadie Cross, a former detective dealing with lost memory issues while working undercover, is a now PI, was friends with Asher and is interested in helping Devlin and Falco find his killer. This is another story where those with power and money feel above the law. The question is who is behind everything? The author does a great job with the mystery and tying the story together as in fitting pieces of a puzzle together with some surprise components. I am enjoying this series!
I received a complimentary ARC from Thomas & Mercer through NetGalley. All thoughts are mine only.

Detectives Kerry Devlin and Luke Falco are called in to investigate the death of two men. Both were bound to chairs and executed with a shot in the back of the head. One man was the owner of the store they were in .... the other was the city's brand new hot-shot deputy district attorney.

The detectives find a link to a former detective, Sadie Cross. But Cross' past life is just as big a mystery as the killings. And she may hold the clues to solve these murders.

Sometimes, it may be better to let the past stay in the past.

i have read several books by this author and never been disappointed. I've come to expect tightly woven plots, solidly drawn characters, and a modicum of credibility. In GONE TOO FAR, the author puts together two plots ... one of the murders... and another of Kerri's teenage daughter. I like seeing not only the professional side, but a personal side as well, making the characters more than cardboard cutouts.

There's plenty of suspects, with ulterior motives, .... but who's the real villain here? Twists and turns lead to an unexpected, surprising ending.

Many thanks to the author / Thomas & Mercer / Amazon Publishing / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily. opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Loved this book. The characters seemed real and who doesn't love mysteries. Hannah now knows who her mother is and though that mystery maybe solved there are more to solve. I enjoy this series and looking forward to the next book

Gone Too Far (Devlin & Falco #2) by Debra Webb

Almost a year after the events of book #1 of the Devlin & Falco series we now have book #2. The duo have gone from Devlin thinking new partner, Falco, will never work out because of their extreme differences to the duo being best friends, excellent work partners and spending the off time together as a little platonic family for Devlin's fourteen year old daughter, Tori. Things are so much better than a year ago, when Tori unrealistically viewed her mother as the most evil, horrible, vile creature that could walk this earth. I was not looking forward to enduring Tori again but she's in a better place emotionally, at the beginning of the book. Teenagers, shaking my head and rolling my eyes!!!

Two serious situations hit the duo hard, at the same time. Tori is somehow involved in an incident where a classmate is critically injured and rumors swirl that the injury is her fault or the fault of her best friend, who was standing right next to her. On the work front, Devlin and Falco are called to a business where two men have been executed. Devlin is not allowed to be in on the investigation of how the school girl was injured because of Tori's role in the situation and they aren't the leads on the murder case anymore when it taken away from them by higher ups...they are left doing grunt work for those in charge of the investigation.

I like the team at this point in their relationship. The awkwardness is gone from the first book and they are settled into working very well together, like a long married couple. Sadie, a former undercover cop, now private investigator, is back and she's working the angles of the murder case, due to her connection with one of the dead men. I felt like I needed to make a graph, a very detailed graph, to figure out all the links of everyone in the story. I didn't do it so, instead, the whole mess of what was going on was in my head like several tangled up balls of yarn, and I'm not sure it's at all plausible that so many people could be connected in the ways that they are in this book. So I had to just throw that out to the wind (maybe that's why my yarn got tangled up) and just go with the story and accept that, once again, like in the last book, the world of Devlin and Falco is very small, indeed.

Thank you to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for this ARC.

Detectives Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco are called to the scene of a double homicide in a smoke shop. One of the victims adds additional anxiety to the case as the new deputy district attorney has been killed execution style along with the owner of the shop. DDA Asher Walsh was determined to rid the area of drugs and this may have cost him his life. Luke and Kerri question former detective Sadie Cross as she had recent contact with Asher. Sadie had worked undercover in the Osorio organization, but has lost part of herself and is finally beginning to recover her lost memories. Kerri is called to her daughter Tori’s school when there is an accident that took the life of another student. She knows that Tori had nothing to do with the girl’s death, but intercedes as her parent when her colleagues question her. Was the girl’s death an accident or murder? A totally absorbing and twisted mystery as characters may not be whom they seem and are willing to kill to hide their secrets. 4.75 stars

This is the second book in the Delvin & Falco series by Debra Webb.

This book has a couple of storylines running through it an it is all connected to Kerri Devlin in some way. The first storyline features Sadie Cross, BPD Detective with a shaky memory and a not very above board father who is a bit of a criminal in truth. And it shows the death ofn DA Asher Walsh who is close to Sadie.

Then we have the story with the death of one of Kerri’s daughter Tori’s classmates. This is very mean girls-esque and really keeps your attention. This is kind of an omnipotant writing style and would translate well to film, tv or movies.

Needless to say there is a lot going on in this book. It is all interesting and keeps you turning pages. The writing style is spot on and you can feel the tension the characters are going through. The mystery is great and there is a surprise at the end that is quite a shocker!

Loved so much about it. If you like detective fiction or police procedurals, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title. Opinions are completely my own.

Gone Too Far is the second book in the Devlin & Falco series by Debra Webb. Detectives Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco are called to the scene of a double homicide where both Deputy District Attorney Asher Walsh and a local business owner are shot execution style. This is a real page turner and you will not be able to put it down! Full of betrayal and secrets that go deep - two things that every book mystery should have. Highly recommend this book!

This was a great follow up to the Devlin and Falco series and I can not wait for book three. This was dark and a page turner that I didn't want to end. I loved the in-depth characters and how intriguing they were. I now wonder how long it will be before they put out a movie or tv series. I can not wait for more.

There's a lot going on in this wild ride of a novel which starts with the investigation of. double homicide and moves on from there to incorporate a drug cartel and bad behavior by a teen. Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco, detectives in Birmingham, find themselves wrapped into a mystery when they are assigned the murder of a Deputy DA and a cigar shop owner. Sadie Cross, a PI who left the force after she was tortured while undercover, is perhaps the most interesting character. No spoilers from me but plot lines do pull together. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC.

I will leave a review on Amazon or B&N on April 27th

I absolutely love suspense thrillers, and Debra Webb is a master at weaving an amazing storyline together. I have read plenty of her previous books and this one was excellent, action packed even if it was just a little bit strange. Kerri Delvin will do anything to protect her child, and I really like the chemistry between here and her partner. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

I received a ARC from NetGalley and the publisher and am under no obligation to leave a favorable review, all opinions expressed here are my own.

4.25⭐

Gone Too Far is my first introduction to detectives Devlin and Falco, and it was a really enjoyable one. That although took a little time to get into did turn into a great read. That was full of red herrings, twists, and turns. Not to mention great characters, and I enjoyed how the different characters stories came together, with some big surprises and shocks in the end. And I was gripped particularly during the second half.

Furthermore, I was intrigued enough by Devlin and Falco to want to check out the first book in the series, and I would happily recommend this story to others.

Many thanks to Net Galley, Thomas & Mercer, and the author for a chance to read and review this book. All opinions are expressed voluntarily.

Debra Webb is a bestselling author of about 150 novels and the saddest part is I haven’t read a single book by this author. Thanks to Barbara Schultz at Goodreads whose review led me to check this out in Net Galley and glad that finally, I did read at least one book by this fantastic author.

Gone Too Far is book #2 in Devlin & Falco series. I haven’t read book #1 but book #2 can be read perfectly as a stand-alone.

Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco are called into investigating a double homicide, but the identity of one of the victims throws a spanner in the works. The murder of hotshot Asher Walsh, Deputy District Attorney is no small affair and the detectives know they are up against more than just a drug deal gone wrong. Devlin also has the additional burden of handling the sensitive issue of bullying at her daughter Tori’s school which has led to a critical situation.

The pressure of handling a high-profile case and her daughter’s problems have been dealt with wonderfully by the author, Devlin does come across as a sensible mother as well as an intuitive detective. Her partner Falco gives the required impetus in an investigation that has so many layers. Drugs, the Mexican cartel, amnesia, bullying, bad parenting, dysfunctional families, murder, and mayhem, so many subjects get discussed in this mind-boggling thriller. The story was like a secret puzzle box, as each jumbled pieces begins to take shape, another slice is revealed in this intriguing web of suspense

Sadie’s attempt to reconstruct her lost past and the details about her trials and abuse were sad and sympathetic. It makes one think about the sacrifices the undercover agents do to get to the criminals, they almost pay for it with their sanity. I would have dearly loved to have a few chapters in Falco's POV coz his past seems to as interesting as Sadie’s life. Hopefully in the next book in the series.

Looking forward to reading more books by this author!
