This is the second book in Webb's Devlin and Falco series. The two veteran Birmingham PD officers are assigned the case when the new deputy DA is found dead in a double homicide and a conspiracy must be unraveled. Webb once again writes a story filled with elusive mystery and a host of characters who are not what they seem. On top of the high profile case, Devlin's daughter Tori is caught up in a tragic case of bullying, that tests her devotion to her job and her daughter. Loved Sadie's character and the mystery and many layers of Luke Falco and the dynamic between the two partners. I recommend reading book one first to experience the most out of this story. Definitely worth the read!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

With an enjoyable cast of characters the second book in this series didn’t disappoint. A double murder, trouble at home, a full plate yet it’s nothing for Devlin and Falco. I look forward to reading more in this series.

The book starts with a double murder. In the middle of the investigation Det Kerri Devlin is called away to her daughters school. There has been an incident with another student. The further they get into the murder investigation the more questions they have. This is a page turner with lots of twists and turns. This book is part of a series but could easily stand alone. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I was really excited to read this second book in the series after really enjoying the first. Wow, this one was even better! The author did an amazing job with the character development and the plot. Really couldn’t have asked for better.

I first heard of Debra Webb when the first book in this series (Devlin & Falco) when it was available as an Amazon First Reads. I absolutely love police procedural novels so when I was offered the opportunity by the publishers to read Gone too Far in exchange my honest review I jumped at the chance! Gone Too Far picks up with of our detectives from Birmingham Police Department. They get to work on the case of a murder involving a new attorney and immediately find out there is so much to answer for. Webb created a realistic universe and I enjoyed the story. If there are more in this series I will pick it up for sure! Her writing is suspenseful and I had to keep going to find all the answers!

My favorite part of this book is the character development. The relationships are real and complicated, which drives the story even more. The mystery and action were interesting and compelling. I look forward to more books in this series.

Debra Webb's second installment of the Devlin and Falco series does not disappoint. Although it is not a continuation story from the first one, it does lay the groundwork of the characters that are in this book. You do not need to read the first to enjoy the second, but it gives further in depth information about the lead characters of Detective Devlin and Falco. We were also introduced to Sadie Cross here as well.
The book opens with a double homicide with Deputy District Attorney Asher and bar owner Leo. A side story of Devlin's daughter Tori who has an incident at school which causes Devlin to be distracted and Falco to take over most of the murder investigation. Sadie Cross helps with this investigation because of her ties to the dead DDA despite her lack of memories from a previous incident from her past. She becomes integral in solving this case, and her relationship with Devlin and Falco becomes more solid in spite of her self isolation. The many secrets and twists that carry this story make you want to turn the page at record speed to find not just the killer(s),but why the murders were carried out to begin with.
In true Debra Webb fashion, she engages the reader to a whodunit that draws you in with slow steady pacing and characters that make you care what happens. It is a must read for the everyone who likes a good thriller with heart.

I am really enjoying this series. In the next installment, I’d love to see more of the development of Devlin’s and Falco’s personal relationship, and how that impacts their work.

Note - This review is my honest opinion and I received this arc courtesy of Net Galley.

It's my first time reading a Debra Webb authored work and I must say I absolutely loved this one !!! The story was simply great. It's been a really long time since I actually read a good mystery thriller by another author apart from classic mysteries like Nancy Drew and Dan Brown thrillers. The protagonist characterization of Kerri and Falco for some strange reason reminded me of Chloe and Dan from the famous Netflix series Lucifer. The story pace was moderate and bit slow at the start, however it took off 4- 5 chapters later and close to end; I simply didn't want to keep it down !! It was that good !! Thank you so much Net Galley for such an awesome book !!!

However the arc I received was the uncorrected one so it had multiple instances of grammatical errors. There were many places where comma was used unnecessarily and in some places, it was missing. Also in certain places, I felt that some phrases or sentences could have been written in a different way as the present format appear confusing at times. An occasional spelling error was noticed too as well .But it didn't hamper my reading experience in any manner which is why I choose to rate it 5 stars.

Disclaimer - The book does include swear words and moderate profanity as well as occasional mention of sex. Apart from that, it is perfectly fine to be read by all those aged 15+ .

Gone Too Far is the second entry in USA Today bestselling author Debra Webb’s Devlin & Falco series. I really enjoyed the first book and the interaction between the two primary characters so I was excited to see this available to read. I want to thank NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

What I liked: As I’ve said in other reviews – I love a good series novel where the primary characters repeat and get involved in new plotlines and stories. Devlin and Falco have great chemistry and are well developed. Their interactions with each other as well as the personal twist with Katie Devlin’s daughter and others make this a strong character-based read. This has a multi-layered plot with twists that involve both the murder investigation as well as Kerri Devlin’s issues with her daughter caught up in a bullying scenario at school that escalates to a student death.

In this installment in the series, Falco and Devlin face a double homicide - the mysterious murder of a local tech tycoon and his mother-in-law, while his pregnant wife has disappeared – or has she?
Also involved is former undercover officer Sadie, whose interactions in an undercover scenario with a drug cartel left her with a fragmented memory of events and devastating nightmares. This connection adds depth to the plotline and fast-paced action and suspense. Kept me on the edge as I read the book.

Hopeful for more books in the series.

I found Debra Webb’s books a couple of years ago and quickly became a fan. I love her fast-paced crime thrillers. Her characters are magnetic, engaging and easy to cheer for. As expected, Gone Too Far was a good follow-up for the detective team of Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco. This time the pair find themselves tasked with solving more than one case. Things get really tense when someone close to Kerri and Falco becomes involved. A great addition to the cast is Sadie Cross. What a complex character! If twists and unexpected turns are your thing you won’t be disappointed with this book. My only disappointment was that the end arrived too soon. I hope Debra Webb has more in store for this team!
4.5 stars rounded up!

I was fan of book one, although it got a little lost for me. I am happy to say book 2 was a big improvement! I enjoyed reuniting with the characters. The case was interesting and had me invested from the beginning. I enjoyed this installment and look forward to more in this series! My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.

Let me start off with...I liked the first book.

But Ohmahgawd I loved the second book. What an intricate plot. So complicated, so devious and dark. What a ride. I absolutely could not put this book down. I sure hope there will be more. Debra Webb is so incredibly talented.

The second in the Devlin and Falco series, this one has it all. There's murder, drugs teenage manipulation; all wrapped up in an intense, fast-paced narrative featuring Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco along with some additional characters who have great depth and add both to the intensity and to the world inhabited by Devlin and Falco. While there are three separate cases being worked, they all involve Devlin and Falco in one way or another. Initially they are called in for an execution style murder; but are quickly sidelined as an investigator takes over their investigation as it affects an on-going investigation of a drug cartel that is suspected to be running in Birmingham.

In addition to the two cases Devlin and Falco are working, there is an incident at Devlin's daughter Tori's school. When Devlin is notified she arrives to discover two detectives interviewing her fourteen year old daughter without her knowledge or presence. This creates tremendous friction between the two sets of detectives which worsens as the edges of the two cases keep intersecting.

An intense, fast paced book, readers will find it difficult to put this one down. The book is written with shifting points of view from Devlin, Cross, the DEA agent, Sadie, a former police officer who has amnesia as a result of an undercover assignment gone bad, and Tori. This adds to both the pacing and the intensity of the novel and helps keep the reader moving through the book.

it is the second in a new series from Webb featuring Devlin and Falco; but is completely self-contained so there is no need to have read the first novel to enjoy this one. There are references throughout the book to something that occured in the first book which may pique the interest of the reader and have them going to the library or their local bookstore for the first book in the series.

A full review of this book can be found later in the on-line magazine MysteryandSuspense.com. A link will be provided when it is established.

Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for allowing me to read and review this book early. First, let me say, if you haven’t read Trust No One yet, it will take you a while to understand the characters and what’s happening. Read that one first. This one, like the first one, is filled with twists & turns. I loved the suspense/mystery/police drama/“who dun it” type of feel that this book had. It had me on the edge of my seat and I did not expect the ending at all. All in all, I really enjoyed this one.

I have a feeling it's a good idea to read Trust No One before reading Gone Too Far. I spent the first 20% of Gone Too Far feeling as though a tsunami of characters had hit me, and I couldn't figure out who anyone was or what was going on. Also, the characters were sometimes called by their first names, and sometimes by their last names, which added to my confusion. I wanted so much to know more about the characters, other than their names, and that they were hiding secrets. Like I wrote previously, it's probably a good idea to read the #1 book first!

But then! But then! I started figuring out who everyone was and I absolutely enjoyed the rest of the book!! It was definitely mysterious and twisty-turny. The characters were complex but once I figured out who each one was, I found them all to be compelling. Falco was my favorite character, hands down. Sadie was fantastic in the last portion of the book. I ultimately LOVED her!

I hope the next book will have fewer secrets but I'm eager to read it, even if it doesn't!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of Gone Too Far.

Happy to be back with special agents Kerri Devlin and Falco. The new partners are now working well together Kerri wasn’t sure at first. The story has so many interested in plots going that will keep you interested and guessing. Well written and easy to read. Kerri’s daughter Tori, is in deep trouble and Kerri has to divide her time between helping her and being on a high profile murder case. The DDA has been murdered and he comes from rich influential parents. The influx of drugs is maybe tied in but how? Falco is working with another friend Sadie as she has inside information on the Cartel that could be involved. Kerri, Falco, Sadie and Tori are all characters that I really enjoy the dynamics of. Each has a unique personality and whom I enjoy following their exploits. Thank you Debra Webb, NetGalley, and Thomas & Mercer for allowing me to read this ARC this is my honest opinion as always. I really liked this book!

Review of Advance Reader’s Copy --- Uncorrected Proof

Birmingham Police Department detectives Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco, assigned to the Major Investigations Division, find themselves at the scene of a double homicide. Shop owner Leo Kurtz and Deputy District Attorney Asher Walsh are dead, shot in the back of the head, execution-style.

The detectives' investigation leads them to Sadie Cross, a former detective who’d vanished for nearly a year following a failed deep undercover assignment . . . and the last person Asher Walsh called before he died.

But before they can make any headway on the case, the DEA, led by Sadie’s father, Mason Cross, steps in and takes over the case, leaving Devlin and Falco to investigate in a reduced capacity as part of the support team assisting Special Agent Cross.

At the same time, Kerri finds herself embroiled in a difficult situation at her daughter’s school. Tori stood on the staircase landing with three other girls; somehow, one of the girls fell back and tumbled down the stairs. Now Brendal Myers is in the hospital, her condition critical.

Kerri is desperate to protect her badly-frightened daughter. Just what was Tori’s involvement in the accident? And what do Sadie’s fractured memories of torture during her undercover assignment have to do with the accident at Tori’s school?

Although this book works well as a stand-alone, it is the second outing for detectives Devlin and Falco following the earlier “Trust No One.” Again, the opening chapter pulls the reader into the telling of the tale; however, this scene actually takes place near the end of the story as after this heart-stopping opening the narrative slips back to five days earlier. Backstory revelations help to create complex characters and strengthen the telling of the tale.

Filled with action, the suspense builds as secrets, lies, and betrayals keep the plot twisting and surprising revelations weave a multifaceted tapestry of connected events that create a complex mystery for the detectives to unravel.

Strong, relatable characters and an intricately-layered plot work together to keep the tension building, to keep the readers guessing, and to keep the pages turning in this difficult-to-set-aside narrative with its heart-stopping denouement.

Highly recommended.
