Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of Gone Too Far in exchange for an honest review.

Birmingham detectives Devlin and Falco return for the second installment of their series. They are trying to solve the mysterious murder of a local tech tycoon and his mother-in-law, while his pregnant wife has disappeared. Falco's old friend and former undercover agent Cross is fighting to remember what happened to her the year she disappeared and how this missing persons case may link back to her. Meanwhile Devlin is called to her daughter's school because Tori and two of her friends were in a confrontation with a bully who is pushed down the stairs and is in critical condition at a local hospital.

I have read both of the stories in the Devlin & Falco series and for the most part have enjoyed them. The new addition is a standalone if you are new to the series you can catch up without reading the first. I enjoyed Cross' story and her search for the memories she lost while being tortured when she was working undercover. I could see her as a lead in her own spin off series. I think this one story focuses too much on the daughters story line and its odd vodooesq themes. Devlin has no problem slacking off from her responsibilities leaving Falco to solve their current case and ignoring direct orders from her superior. I like detective stories like this one but this one was okay at best.

This second installment of the series was packed with action and suspense. I learned more about the characters and their backgrounds which made them more realistic. This was a page turner and hard to put down.
Many thanks to Thomas & Mercer and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Oh My Goodness, Gone Too Far by Debra Webb is one of the best suspense thrillers this year! This is the second in the series for Devlin & Falco and once I started, I could not stop reading until it was the end. I enjoy the dynamics of Detective Kerri Devlin and her partner Detective Luke Falco with the Major Investigations Division in the Birmingham, AL police department. Kerri's daughter Tori is featured in this book and the story is riveting!

This is the first book I have read from Debra Webb. I can say I throughly enjoyed this book, the characters had depth to them, the story was fast paced, and kept you riveted to continue reading.
I also enjoyed that Devlin and Cross carried their own unique storylines that came together at the end of the book.
I did not know there was a book before this one to make it a series. I’m excited to read the first and experience how the character come together in the beginning.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me a chance to discover a new author. This book can be enjoyed by all readers who love mystery, thriller and crime stories.

I received this book through "NetGalley".

The story begins with Devlin and Falco being called to a murder scene at a tobacco/bar shop. Two individuals are killed execution style. The reason that they are involved is because one of the victims was a DDA. As they are talking to employees, Devlin gets a call from her daughter's school telling him to come. An incident at the school has occurred and her daughter is involved. As she gets there she discovers that police detectives have been talking to her daughter which was not normal police procedure. 3 girls were at the scene where the incident occurred, and her daughter Tori was one of them.

As Devlin and Falco begin their investigation, they are told that the lead is now under the DEA, Special Agent Mason Cross. As it turns out, Mason was the father of Sadie who had been working with the DDA while he was looking into drug trafficking and was providing information to Devlin and Falco as well.

Devlin also happened to be looking into the incident at her daughter's school on her own. She began particular attention to the new girl at school who happened to be one of the people that was at the scene in addition to Devlin's daughter. As she looked further, one of the people that she talked to at a different school wound up being murdered. Because of this activity, Devlin wound up being suspended.

In the end, Sadie who was a former police detective, in addition to Devlin and Falco, were able to resolve the school incident. Once this happened, Devlin was once allowed to pursue the killer of the 2 victims. As the story ends, the murderer is identified. There is also a surprise at the same time.

To discover her the ultimate killer was, what happened at the school and why Sadie became involved, you must read the book. The individuals that were identified as partners in the operation will astound you. You won't be disappointed.

I did not read the first book in this series, and I don’t know if that’s why I had a hard time following at the beginning of the book for about 25 pages. Once I figured out what was happening, this book turned into one you won’t want to miss. There are numerous things going on, and they all had me turning the pages fast. The situations in the story are described very well and are very realistic. The characters are also realistic and definitely believable, and they soon learn secrets can be deadly. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fast paced thrillers.

I read the first book in this series ‘Trust No One’ and really enjoyed it, so when I was given the chance to read an ARC of the next book, I jumped at the chance.
Devlin and Falco seem like a bit of a mismatched couple of detectives. Kerri Devlin is a single mum who does everything by the book, while Luke Falco has spent many years undercover and isn’t exactly what you think of when you think of a major crimes detective. He’s a bit scruffy and disheveled. But somehow the two work very well together.
In ‘Gone Too Far’ Devlin and Falco are called out to double homicide where one of the victims is the new deputy district attorney Asher Walsh. And the last phone call DDA Walsh made was to a friend of theirs Sadie Cross.
Just as quickly as Devlin and Falco begin their investigation, it’s taken over by the DEA and they are relegated to basic grunt work. Something doesn’t smell right to Kerri and Luke, so they continue digging deeper into the case despite the risk to their jobs, along with help from Sadie. When they learn that Sadie’s past as an undercover agent (which she can’t remember due to being held prisoner and tortured for months) may be somehow connected to the double homicide, Devlin and Falco aren’t sure who to trust within their own department with the information they have learned.
There is also a secondary storyline in this book involving Devlin’s teenage daughter Tori and school bullying. At the beginning of the book I wasn’t sure why I was reading about teenage bullies in a murder mystery book, but as the book progressed it became clearer that there was a connection between that storyline and the homicide investigation Devlin and Falco were conducting.
This was a great suspense/mystery/police procedural book. And while I had guessed the ‘bad guy’ half way through, I still thoroughly enjoyed this read. Devlin and Falco are a great partnership and I was glad to learn more about Sadie after meeting her in book one. Will definitely read more books in this series. 4 stars from me.

I’ve read several other books by this author so I was excited to see a new series and be able to read an early copy of the second book. In this book we meet up with Devlin & Falco again as they investigate several cases. There’s a lot going on in this book. There’s a lot of characters and I had some trouble keeping them straight. It was a good story, lots of action and intrigue. It was a hard to put down book and I’m looking forward to the next one in the series
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the early copy

I loved the first book in the series and this one was no different! The relationships between the characters, between them and their professions, is so good! I loved that this book was consistent with the first one and I love how jampacked Webb makes the stories!

I love Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco! They are the kind of detectives you hope will investigate any case you are involved in. There is a lot going on in this story including twists, betrayals, and secrets, And through it all the two stay true to their characters, and by the end, all is well. But you will hold your breath until you get there! Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for my copy of Gone to Far. Can't wait for the next book with these two.

This is the first book that I have a chance to read from Debra Webb, and I can say is one of the best books that I ever read. I couldn’t put this book down till the last page. This book is definitely easy to read and easy to get into the story. One of the things that I love about this book is the relationship and dynamic between the main characters Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco.
The book begins with the murder of the district attorney, Asher Walsh, and the owner of the exclusive tobacco bar, Leo. In the short time of the investigation, Devlin and Falco quickly linked the double homicide with the former detective Sadie Cross. While they are at the beginning of the integration, Devlin gets a call from her daughter's school where she hears the information that her daughter Tori gets in a malicious accident with a fellow student.
Sadie Cross is one of the most essential characters in the book besides Devlin and Falco. In the book, we will learn more about her past when she was deep undercover in a Mexican drug cartel. Now she trying the find the truth about herself in that one year when she has despaired.
As they begin to unearth the truth, they soon discover that the more secrets are revealed, the more fatal the consequences will be.

GONE TOO FAR is the second in a series by author Debra Webb that has garnered significant reader praise. All that praise prompted me to read the series and I was disappointed. I am always in search of good mysteries and authors to follow but somehow these didn’t connect with me. Webb’s writing style improved with this second book but it’s still clunkier than I would like. It is too noticeable and interferes with her storytelling. Her characters are too generic; I wish they had sparks of originality that made me crave learning what they would do next. I am in the distinct minority in my opinion on these books. I received my copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

The second book in Debra Webb’s series about Birmingham Detective Kerri Devlin and her partner Detective Falco starts with a gruesome double murder. The owner of a tobacco shop and the new ADA are found shot in the head in the back room of the shop. As they begin to investigate they find that the ADA had a connection to former Birmingham detective Sadie Cross. Cross tells them that the ADA was fighting a war on drugs in the city. As the case gets more complex Devlin has to deal with trouble at her daughter’s school. Soon it becomes clear that the case and the school incident are connected. Who is pulling the strings? Can Devlin and Falco even trust Sadie Cross? The book has a good pace to keep the reader interested. I read the first I book in the series and enjoyed this line. I am looking forward to book three.

I read the first in this series in July and liked it, so I was pleased to get the second in the Devlin and Falco series.

from description: As veteran detectives of the Birmingham Police Department, Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco have seen it all. So when the city’s new hotshot deputy district attorney turns up dead as part of a double homicide, the partners immediately get to work.

I was glad to see Sadie Cross make another appearance and get more of her background; hope for more of her in the future.

Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco have a great partnership that will probably lead to more. I like the friendship and the way Luke steps in when Kerri's daughter has a serious problem.

Several storylines and complications.

Gone Too Far (Devlin & Falco #2) by Debra Webb
Detectives Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco, with the help of an old friend Sadie Cross tries to understand the puzzle of events leading to the death of high profile deputy district attorney. Meanwhile, Kerri's daughter is a part of traumatic incident at a school leading to the death of a teenager.
The book has multiple plots running in parallel. There are quite few characters to remember however the book is written so well, that you wont mind remembering them. Sadie's back story provides a lot of explanations on why's oh everything in the story. The story unfolds to reveal the interconnecting events that led to multiple homicides.
The dynamics between the partners is amazing. The could understand and coordinate with each other with limited verbal communication. The mother and daughter bond and the impacts of trauma after a recent loss is portrayed clearly. Strength exhibited by Sadie is amazing! She confronts her past against all odds to get to the truth knowing. I cannot wait to read more of these characters in next books of the series!
A powerful Mayor, Drug lords across the border, a ruthless power couple, a cold DEA agent - the power struggle is real here!! A fast paced thriller with well written characters and a clear ending. Thank you Netgalley and publishers for my copy

Wow!! This is a must read for fans of Debra Webb.
Devlin and Falco are back in this second installment that is a suspenseful page turner.
Three plots in one that come together in the end. There are some sensitive subjects so beware. Shocking secrets come to light. Just gets better with every book.
