This was one of the first reads for me by Kaylin McFarren and honestly, this one hooked me right from the start!

This was such a well written book! The excitement between the drama, suspense and character dynamics, it was hard to put this one down. Highly recommend for people really looking for a great supernatural read.

the suspense and the twists and turns in this book blew me away. the portrayal of what is today a common myth was unique and not repetitive. overall a very interesting read with clever insights.

To offer constructive criticism, this book is highly disappointing. While there is potential in the story as described, what transpires is an unfocused narrative consisting of at least 3-4 underdeveloped plots which are then haphazardly pieced together. The characters are erratic and lack substance which is substantiated by stunted dialogue and numerous plot holes.

I don't know a lot about angels and demons, but this story crackled with the tension of the dichotomy. I will admit I was a bit confused when the story changed perspectives partway through from that of death-row inmate Benjamin Poe explaining his downfall, to that of demon Crighton, but I ended up actually enjoying Crighton's story more. There is at least one trigger warning on this story that I'll mention below, and I think it's worth noting that this is overall a pretty dark and occasionally violent story. While full of description, this is a plot focused story with a lot of action! This was a complex tale and one full of imagination and detail.

Thank you to the author and @getredpr for a gifted copy of Soul Seeker!

The book begins with Crighton, Lucifer’s best soul-catcher demon, out on a mission to take out Poe’s son for the many sins his son committed. Poe is a righteous and heroic firefighter while his son is anything but. Despite the son’s flagrant morals, Poe resists his son’s soul to be taken away so much so that Crighton devises a devious method that would get him both the son and father’s souls.

The book’s narrative then completely shifts over to Crighton and his “life” as a demon subservient to his master Satan. Crighton is yet again entrusted with a new project to catch hold of an angel but as fate would have it, the demon and the angel come out of a sticky situation and fall in love. Will they ever be able to avenge the wrath of evil and the curse of God to be soulmates? You will have to read to find out.

This book gave me one hell of a (pun intended) crazy ride to Heaven, Hell and back to Earth. Although the book was predominantly a paranormal fantasy and romance, you could probably inject every other genre into it, including some horror. I’m not going to lie when I say this is possibly the strangest book I read this year. That being said, I think there were a lot of lessons to be learned from it such as the lines between evil and good, truth and lies, demons and angels, forbidden and not can all often be blurred with some redemption and selfless love. I tend to think every book has a conscious or subliminal lesson from its author and I felt this book largely was about good can change even the most vile person if one strongly covets that change from within.

It is imagination plus with this book as the reader dives into the complexities of angels and demons along with humans with superior intelligence. How it all works out is the mystery that keeps the pages turning. I really enjoyed the first part the most with the character, Benjamin Poe, who was sent to prison for killing his beloved son. He said, "It was never my intention to kill him...Not Gabriel. Not my son," He fate was execution. Could he get out of it? That's what kept me reading.

The author used a lot of character names and fortunately, it wasn't hard to keep track. She also mixed in Bible verses. One was: "Be sober-minded. Be watchful. The devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour"- from the book of Peter. The soul theft was Crighton. The beautiful angel was Ariel. And Lucifer brought the worst fears to the equation. One of the characters said, "Angels and demons were created in the universe to balance the scale between good and evil." How an author was able to create a story like this is beyond me.

My thanks to the publisher and NetGallery for allowing me to read this copy.
