This book was so good! I flew through it in one afternoon and I was so sad when it was over. The characters were very relatable and the plot was full of action. I loved where the author took the story and I am hoping to read more of there works.

I love books about girls finding out what they're capable of!
Sam is a whip-smart girl who loves books, but lacks confidence. It's the 1920's, she lost her father to the war, and she doesn't have money. Sam plans on staying in her small town, working in a book shop, repairing old books. But when a mystery falls into her lap, she's whisked off on an adventure that takes her to Ireland.
This book has a little of everything: history, mystery, ciphers, curses, friendship, and romance. I really enjoyed watching the characters grow. I can't wait to find out what Samantha Knox gets up to next!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an early copy to review.

This book was a ton of fun! I loved the adventures Sam and her friend Joana, Jo's brother Bennett and the crew they (more or less) inherit get into. I thought that the story was a bit slow and Sam sometimes frustrated me (I found her friend Joana a bit more interesting, oops!), but about halfway it REALLY picked up and I could not put this one down.

It's going to appeal to teens who love Meagan Spooner and Amie Kaufman's books, as well as Indiana Jones, and the Mummy (the way to my heart!). Third person perspective isn't always my favorite, but I know it is many people's so I think they won't feel as disconnected to Sam as I did (I prefer to be in the first person head of the main character). What I adored about this story was that it took place in Ireland!!! We so rarely see adventure novels set in the 1920's from the United States to Ireland with mystery, curses and codes to figure out... What a fun book!

Jenny Elder Moke has delivered in the best possible way! Curse of the Specter Queen time warps readers back to the small town of Clement, Illinois, where Samanth Knox toils away lovingly repairing her old books. After a flaming disaster she must face her past while time runs out to save the future...of the entire world. Working her way across ciphers, relationships and oceans Sam
These pages are filled with an amazing cast of characters, mystery, mythology, a touch of romance and the lusciousness of the Emerald Isle! I’m really not sure you could possibly ask for a better combination. I cannot wait to share Sam’s adventures with my middle schoolers, and I sincerely hope there are many more of those adventures to come!

Quite enjoyable but not as good as its concept. I like the idea of a series of books about a female Indiana Jones, but it seemed to take a long time for the heroine to pull herself together. Perhaps the mixture of historical adventure romp and portrait of a girl coming to terms with her grief was a little awkward. Characters also had much too much of a tendency to indulge in what I guess was intended to be banter but just became annoying talk. I most liked the relationship between Sam and her friend Jo.
