I loved this book! It's the 3rd book in the Sunshine Cove series, and while I haven't read the first 2, I still was able to understand and love this one. RaeAnne Thayne writes such beautiful novels with deep, complicated characters, and that is definitely true of Rachel and Jess. They both had difficult events happen in their past, and not only does this book include a love story, but the two sisters are able to do a lot of healing to make peace with their past and focus on their future! It's just a beautiful book all around!

This was a perfectly nice story with sweet characters, exploring complicated relationships, but it fell kind of flat for me. I wanted it to go deeper into the relationships and the characters, but it seemed to just skim the surface.

The book is part of a series, but does not need to be read with the accompanying books and works as a stand alone.

The story follows Jess and her relationship with her sister Rachel, as well as a budding romance with Nate, the son of a client. It takes place over a 2 week period, but even in the short time frame, things seem to move a little slowly. There is more time spent on the outlying relationships than the 2 main ones.

I liked all of the characters, I liked the storyline, I just think that this wasn’t the right book for me.

A quick easy read. A story of sisters reconnecting, self discovery and second chances at love and what it means to be family.

This is a delightful novel from RaeAnne Thayne that deals with grief, sibling relationships, and learning to love. The main character, Jessica, was a very sympathetic character who has been holding in a lot of hurt in an attempt to protect the ones she loves. At the same time, her sister's desire for a perfect life in the face of her son's autism diagnosis is a real reminder that perfect is over-rated if it threatens to destroy a wonderful, albeit imperfect marriage or family. With great characters and a touch of romance, this was an lovely and heartwarming book without being too sweet.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

If you think family and Women’s fiction when you are choosing your beach read look no further than this book. Sisters can be the best of friends but also the biggest enemies. A heartwarming book about family and love and bringing harmony and peace back into life again.

This is a Women's Fiction/Romance/Chick-Lit, and this is the second book in the Cape Sanctuary series. I have not read the first book in this series, but I did not feel lost at anytime while reading this book. We follow Jessica who grow up in foster care and her sister that she is no longer close to lives near her new job. Her sister has a son who was just diagnosis with Autism. Her sister is having trouble dealing with his new diagnosis. I feel this book does a good job showing how hard it is right after you get told your kid as Autism. The romance was in the background of this book. I enjoyed all the characters in this book. I do feel that the middle moved a little bit slower then I like. The storyline was good, and it kept you pulled into the book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin) or author (RaeAnne Thayne) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

I really enjoyed this fun escapist read! It made me want to move to Sunshine Cove and Cape Sanctuary. It’s sounds so idyllic. I loved the romance element between Jessica and Nate but that aspect almost took a backseat to the relationship between Jess and her sister Rachel.

Jess lives her life on the road helping people clear out their homes for a variety of reasons, organization, decluttering, or to finally let go of their loved ones belongings after they’ve passed. Following their parents tragic death Rachel and Jess were separated. Rachel stayed with a family in Cape Sanctuary while Jess went to foster care elsewhere. Their are a lot of hurt feelings and their relationship is strained when Jess arrives. I was glad to see them navigate their relationship as adults and work through their issues.

Rachel is a stay at home mom and influencer. Her son is autistic and it’s putting a strain on her marriage to Cody. The author did a wonderful job handling the relationship between Rachel and Cody, and the struggles families with autistic children face. My nephew is 4 and autistic so I appreciated this realistic aspect of the book.

I also enjoyed the relationship between single dad Nate and his daughter as they navigate their relationship and learn to communicate,

I absolutely loved the matriarch of Sunshine Cove Eleanor and how she managed to bring all of these characters together. She was my favorite character by far but I really enjoyed them all.

Thank you to Netgalley, RaeAnne Thayne, and Let’s Talk Books Promo for the chance to review a digital copy of the book.

3.5⭐ rounded up

This was a light cute read that I finished in one sitting. While it wasn't the most unique plot, I still found this book quite enjoyable.

What I liked about this book:

1. The author wrote well developed characters that are easy to like and I was easily invested in their outcome.

2. The setting sounded absolutely amazing and made me yearn for the ocean. Thayne's writing was descriptive enough to make you feel like you were in Sunshine Cove right next to the characters.

3. As the mother of an autistic child, I thought those aspects of the story were accurate and well written.

If you love a great small town romance with mature adults and a great setting, definently read this one.

2 sisters separated by distance and time. Jess got the opportunity to come back home to her sister Rachel in the course of her work. And it gave them a chance to forge a new relationship, letting go of old resentments.

Beautiful story by this author that brought a smile on my face with characters who were real and likable.

The problems in both their lives were relatable. I loved how authentic the author’s writing was, where I could feel for both of them.

Emotions were palpable in the story where I got to understand both their lives and cheer for their bond. I loved how I was so immersed in this story.

There was romance but kept at the background. Relationships and family were the core of this book.

I love this author, as her books always leave me with a huge smile on my face and hope in my heart.

I enjoyed the first book about Cape Sanctuary by this author (see my review of The Sea Glass Cottage), so I was looking forward to this one. I wasn’t disappointed.
Aside from being a place I would love to visit Cape Sanctuary reminds me of the towns that my parents and I used to visit on weekend drives. Having grown up in the San Francisco Bay Area, there were no shortage of such towns.
To me, a setting that invokes good personal memories is almost as important as the plot or the characters. It certainly can help to put the reader in a positive frame of mind for reading.
I liked the way the author shaped this story.
First off, I thought the job that the job Jess had was fascinating. It was indicative of her true nature and in direct conflict with the prickly outer shell she exhibited – especially the one her sister thinks she has to break through.
I actually found myself wishing that Jess existed and would be available to help me and my mom clean out her house. There are 50 years of memories waiting to be sorted, and it will not be easy. Do people with jobs like Jess exist in real life?
I digress.
I appreciate how this isn’t a typical romance book, although there is romance involved. I thought the point/counterpoint of Jess figuring out what Nate meant to her and Rachel trying to juggle her homelife and realizing what Cody actually did for the family was interesting.
One thing that stood out to me in the previous book and is again present here is how well the author captures teenage girls. Sophie is a real person, not a caricature of a teenager. Her moodiness is perfectly accurate for her age, as is the way she capitulates (in relief) when someone offers her an alternative.
A potential surfing disaster headed off with the offer to build sandcastles is an excellent case in point.
I also thought that Rachel was a perfect example of today’s social media conscious society. She obsesses over everything being perfect for Instagram or her blog even as her home life is messy and complicated.
What she didn’t initially realize was that her desire for everything to be perfect kept her from spending quality time with the family – which would have ultimately made her life easier.
While Jess and Rachel were at odds with each other initially, I liked how they came together and realized each other’s strengths. The same could be said about Nate and Sophie as he juggles learning how to parent a teenager. It’s all about family.
Ultimately, I found that to be the strongest message. When we stop to actually listen to each other, we can learn so much more than hanging on to assumptions and past interactions.
Words to live by.
I hope we get to visit Cape Sanctuary again. I’ve become fond of it.

This was my first RaeAnne Thayne book and was so impressed with her writing. Her characters were well-developed, the story flowed smoothly, and she managed to bring out so many emotions in me. I ached, I laughed, I worried, I loved, I cried, and I triumphed along with them. I wasn't expecting to feel that much, and I was delighted there was so much depth to the story. This isn't just a romantic tale between two people, this is a family love story and I loved every minute of it!

I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Path to Sunshine Cove by RaeAnne Thayne is listed as the second book of the contemporary romance Cape Sanctuary series. However,The Cliff House, which was published first, is also set in the same setting of Cape Sanctuary and that is the common theme among the series. Each of the books have different main characters in them so they all can be read as a standalone if choosing to do so regardless of where they are listed or not listed in the series.

This time in The Path to Sunshine Cove Jessica Clayton has taken a job in the small town and plans to use the time there to visit with her sister, Rachel. Rachel and Jess grew up in Cape Sanctuary but after the death of their parents Jess couldn’t leave fast enough while Rachel found herself taken in by a loving family and eventually put down roots in the small town by starting a family of her own.

Jess knows that she has built a shell around herself keeping people at a distance and not getting close to anyone but she wants to amend that with Rachel. Rachel though is struggling with her own issues with her family and Jess doesn’t know how to deal with that. There’s also Nate, Jess’s clients son who just happens to keep crossing Jess’s path but will she allow him into her heart and give her a reason to stop running.

Having read both The Path to Sunshine Cove and The Sea Glass Cottage that are set in Cape Sanctuary I can definitively say they both have a wonderful setting and also reiterate that these work wonderfully as standalone novels. The characters in The Path to Sunshine Cove were just wonderful again with the story pulling at my heartstrings all throughout. I have a certain affinity to autistic characters in stories too so Rachel’s struggle with coping with her son engrossed me just as much as Jess learning not to push others away. Definitely a lovely read all around.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

This is the second book in the Cape Sanctuary series. It can be read as a stand alone book though. I would definitely recommend this author and book. It was a nice light story with a great pace. I wanted to just keep reading to find out what happens. Nice characters and town!
