The Path to Sunshine Cove fills your beach loving heart right from the start with this adorable title! I mean look at that cover, swoon worthy! With all of these travel restrictions in place many of us will not get to dip our toes in the sand, so why not read a book that will take us on a little vacation to the cove!
Eleanor knows it’s time to go through her home and let go of items she’s been holding onto too tightly. Clothes, books, furniture is all she has left of her soulmate, but she realizes all she needs is her memories and must call in help to purge a lifetime of “stuff”.
Jessica works for a company called Transitions that helps people make the hard decisions on what to keep, donate, and toss when they are downsizing. Jessica travels all over in her trailer setting up her home for a few days to help families and then move on to the next. The work is hard and at times emotional, but moving every few days helps her to stay disconnected, as she prefers all her relationships to be. Living in foster care as a child and going on to serve in the military she’s always pushed her feelings down and learned to rely only on herself.
When a job comes up in a little sea side town she’s excited because this job will give her time to spend with her sister Rachel whom she hasn’t seen in years. She has really bonded with sweet Eleanor over the phone and is looking forward to helping her clean her home one room at a time, and spend time with her nieces and nephew. Her sister seems very overwhelmed and unhappy and Jessica would love to help out a little while in town.
What she doesn’t expect upon her arrival is how gorgeous Sunshine Cove is. From her trailer she can see the ocean, hear its crashing waves, and smell the salty air. All is right with the world until Eleanor’s son Nate comes over treating her like a criminal or some kind of opportunistic person who takes advantage of the elderly! Apparently Eleanor hasn’t told her son the news that she’s ready to part with his fathers items and maybe even sell his childhood home!
So many changes to come for Eleanor and a Jessica, you’ll need to read the book to find out for yourself!

The Path to Sunshine Cove by RaeAnne Thayne, book two in her Cape Sanctuary series, grabbed me and held me hostage until I turned the last page, finishing the story, leaving me wanting more. This heartwarming, emotional story takes us on a journey into the lives of one sister allowing the hurt and guilt of her past to control her life, another sister trying to live with the stress of life demands, while trying to be the perfect wife and mom.

With her troubled past, Jessica Clayton feels safer living life on the road. She’s created a life of helping others downsize, after learning the hard way that the less “stuff” the better; also applying it to her relationships. A new client has Jess returning to Cape Sanctuary, a town that was once home and where her little sister, Rachel, still lives. Jess and Rachel were best friends until that fatal night when they lost their parents; separating the girls, forcing them to live in different foster homes, changing everything between them. Aging out of the system, Jess couldn’t wait to leave Cape Sanctuary while Rachel found a loving family to live with and a man to love and create a future with. Rachel lets everyone believe she has the picture-perfect life, but the demands of her autistic son has Rachel stressed thin; causing her marriage to unravel at the seams. Rachel badly needs her sister, now more than ever; but has learned from painful experience that Jess doesn’t do family and doesn’t believe she can rely on her now. Despite believing she shouldn’t get involved, Jess finds herself becoming attached, not just to her sister and her family, but also her client’s interfering, available, and handsome son, Nate. All of these connections force Jess to open up and put everything on the line; time for her to make some life-changing decisions. Jess has to decide if she can continue to run from her painful past or stay in Cape Sanctuary, making room for the love of her sister and Nate.

Ms. Thayne wrote a story that reaches the soul; the soul of her characters as well the soul of her readers. This wonderful and amazing story was emotional, moving, tear inducing, filled with wonderful dialogue, and endearing characters that is must read. I highly recommend The Path to Sunshine Cove to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Jessica and Rachel are sisters who couldn’t be more different. They were close once upon a time, but life threw them a curve ball early on that sent them on different paths and very different lives. Now as adults, Rachel is settled down with a family but facing unspoken struggles, while Jess doesn’t let anyone get too close and has a job takes her somewhere new every few weeks. When she accepts a temporary job that will bring her closer to Rachel, she hopes this will be their chance to reconnect and mend their relationship. But does Sunshine Cove have more in store for her? Seeing her sister again and meeting Eleanor and Nate makes her longs for the family she never had.

✨Review✨
This was my first RaeAnne Thayne book and definitely won’t be my last! I adored everything about this one-the small town, the close relationships, and all the real life challenges that gave give these characters depth. I loved them all, but Eleanor warmed my heart the most. She was full of wisdom and love, and the epitome of class. The setting immediately drew me in and gave me that feeling of coming home. If you’re looking for a relaxing summer read, you’ve come to the right place.

Thank you for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Jess returns to Sunshine Cove to do a job for two weeks. She hopes to visit her sister Rachel, nieces and nephew before heading off to the next decluttering job. Her employer's son Nate, a single dad, isn't too sure about Jess. Meanwhile, Rachel is struggling but putting on a good front.

This was a story of relationships-- between sisters, between parent and child, between couples. I really enjoyed seeing Jess and Rachel reconnect as sisters finding a way to accept and support each other. The romance between Jess and Nate came together quickly but the epilogue was perfect.

Rachel and her husband Cody came across as very realistic characters. I feel the author did a fantastic job showing some of the issues of parenting a child with special needs. The setting was also well done as I could absolutely picture the path to the beach.
Thank you to Let's Talk Books, Harlequin and Netgalley for the gifted ebook

We are back in Cape Sanctuary and RaeAnne Thayne has, once again, made me an emotional wreck! The depth and heartache packed into these page was so raw and really helped you to connect with the characters. This story is told from alternating point of views (Jess, Nate, & Rachel) so you really feel like you get the whole picture. Jess is in Cape Sanctuary on a job and is looking forward to spending time in the city that her sister, Rachel, lives in. Rachel is struggling between her picture perfect Instagram life and real life with 3 children, including one with special needs. The two sisters have a lot of unresolved trauma and I really enjoyed watching that relationship play out. Nate, Jess’s clients son, is a widower raising a teenage daughter -what could go wrong? I loved, LOVED seeing the special needs representation!! I especially loved reading it from another mother’s point of view. Every time she talked about Silas I was nodding my head, crying, or remembering a very similar situation I had been put in. Her character development was my absolute favorite. I highly recommend picking this one up if you’re a fan of romance or women’s fiction! *FYI -you don’t have to read the first book in this series either as they are separate characters.

The perfect RaeAnne Thayne book. Every time I pick up one of her books I know that I will meet some amazing characters in a beautiful setting with a wonderful story to tell. Nate is an amazing character raising his teenage daughter while working hard and living on the property he grew up on to be near his widowed mother. Jess arrives on the property to help Eleanor, Nate’s mother, clean out the house that has been in the family for many generations. The catch is that Jess’ sister lives close by and while they use to be close things have not been easy. Jess wants a relationship with her sister again and puts herself out there to get it.

I love learning about Jess and Rachel. There is no doubt that as younger sisters their bond was unbreakable but then things changed, their lives ended up on different paths, and their relationship was tested. Rachel is dealing with her own struggles in her “perfect” family and has put so much stress on herself that her life is not as perfect as she pretends it to be. Jess has never let herself settle down and be close to anyone, so the quick visits are perfect for her. I hoped for them to become the sisters they each needed but knew that it would not be easy.

Everything about The Path to Sunshine Cove is wonderful. I read it on a cold winter day but could feel the sun shining, the waves crashing on the beach, and the love between the characters.

HJ Recommended Read!

I think it's safe to say that we can all use a little comfort right now. And The Path to Sunshine Cove was exactly that: all about warmth, comfort, heart and hope. Which happens to be what I love most about RaeAnne Thayne's emotional storytelling.

I absolutely adore RaeAnne Thayne--and her wonderful books. I look to her for stories based on real life issues, for characters I'd love to meet, and for the myriad emotions she draws into every scene. That captures the heart of The Path to Sunshine Cove perfectly. Told from three POVs (Jess, Rachel, and Nate) family drama and overcoming painful pasts was a huge part of what they had to deal with. Throw in some personal crises and it was a recipe for lots of soul searching and some tears as well as laughs.

Even though there were multiple threads of the story to follow, I found that it was so well done, woven together so intricately, that I breezed through it and knew at all times whose POV I was reading. Something that Thayne excels at, in my humble opinion. It helped that two of the main characters, Jess and Rachel, were sisters. Kind of estranged sisters, but at one time had a close bond. So watching them find their way back together and finally put their horrific childhood behind them? Heartwarming, to say the least. Rachel and Jess both had their own current problems to contend with as well and that was where they butted heads a bit. It was obvious that they still loved each other. I definitely enjoyed the way everything was resolved. It was realistic and oh so touching as one would expect from Thayne.

There was also some romance. We had Jess and Nate, neither of whom wanted a relationship as they were too busy in their lives to want to go down that road. Although their attraction was too strong and their hearts too tangled up to ignore it. Then we had married couple Rachel and Cody who needed some serious help strengthening their flagging marriage. With three kids--their youngest having just been diagnosed as having Autism--and busy careers, I think a lot of readers will commiserate with them. It was tough to see Rachel struggle so much. And there were times I couldn't believe the attitude she gave Cody. But it was raw. It was honest. And the way things ended up between them made me smile huge. *happy sigh*

Picking up a RaeAnne Thayne book is like coming home. The paths for her characters are not easy ones, but that only gives it an authentic feel and makes the HEAs worth every tough moment--for her characters and for her fans. Highly recommended.

Good book about the complications of family life and relationships told from the viewpoints of three people. I enjoyed the realism of their struggles with their pasts, the effects of those pasts on the present, and the desire to change the future.

Jess and Rachel are sisters whose traumatic childhoods affected them both. As children, they were very close, but the effects of their parents’ deaths drove a wedge between them. Though they see each other occasionally, their meetings are always strained. Neither one knows how to fix it.

Jess is independent, self-contained, and very much a loner. Her business, Transitions, involves going to a client’s home, helping them clear things out, then moving on to the next job. She doesn’t spend enough time with anyone to form a relationship, and that suits her fine. She tells herself she is too busy for a man in her life. In reality, her parents’ marriage put her entirely off the idea of love. Her father was a controlling bully, and her mother believed he could do no wrong. Jess misses the close relationship she had with Rachel and hopes she can use this time in Cape Sanctuary to mend fences.

Rachel settled down in Cape Sanctuary, marrying her high school sweetheart, Cody. They have three children, the youngest recently diagnosed with autism. Rachel is very active on social media, where she has a large following, but the perfect life she portrays online isn’t so perfect in real life. Her quest for perfection has put a strain on her marriage and driven her close to a nervous breakdown. Rachel wants her old relationship with Jess back but has no confidence that it will actually happen.

Nate is the son of Jess’s newest client, Eleanor, and the single father of thirteen-year-old Sophie. He is very protective of his mother, who is still grieving his father’s death, and is suspicious of Jess when she arrives. He has his hands full with his construction business and Sophie’s newly acquired teenage attitude and has put any romantic relationships on the back burner for the foreseeable future.

I enjoyed seeing the various characters establish or re-establish connections with those they love. There are many past hurts, fears, and desires that need to be faced before our characters can move on to the happiness they each long for. Rachel struck me as the one who is most overwhelmed. The effect of her childhood on her is the need for everything to be perfect. Her highly popular social media account portrays a family far from reality, and she struggles to reconcile the two. In real life, she deals with a husband who works long hours, a two-year-old newly diagnosed as autistic, and a refusal to believe that it is okay to ask for help. That attitude puts a strain on her marriage, and she seems unable to change. Jess’s arrival is just one more thing for her to deal with. I admit there were times I wanted to shake her. Her husband was great, but he couldn’t do anything right in her eyes. Though tentative in her attempts at first, I liked how Jess saw Rachel’s struggles and tried to help. Though things were a little better, it took an explosive confrontation between the two to knock down the walls that kept them apart and finally start the healing process. Admitting she needs help also went a long way toward helping Rachel and Cody reconnect. I loved Jess’s suggestion at the end and how Rachel ran with it.

I liked Jess. It is evident from the start that she loves her job and helping people streamline their lives. Though she usually keeps a professional distance between herself and her clients, it’s clear that her relationship with Eleanor is different from the start. I loved how Eleanor refused to be business-only and sucked Jess right into the family. Jess was somewhat unnerved by the emotions that working with Eleanor stirred up, as she wasn’t accustomed to caring that way for her clients. I loved her kindness and patience as they worked their way through Eleanor’s treasures and memories of her husband, Jack. At the end, a crisis with Eleanor makes Jess realize that she’s risked more with this family than anyone else in many years.

Then there’s Nate. Once he got past his suspicions about Jess, he couldn’t deny the effect she had on him. I loved watching them spend time together, discovering how easy it is to talk to each other. Sparks of attraction are there also, but with Jess’s stay being temporary, they are reluctant to pursue it. Well, Jess is reluctant. The feelings he stirs in her scare her, as she has visions of turning into her mother. I ached for them both when Jess finishes the job because Nate wants her to stay, and Jess wants to, also, but doesn’t trust herself. I loved the advice she got and what she did with it. The epilogue was terrific and showed that anything was possible with love.

Jessica Clayton has had a harrowing past growing up in foster care, separated from her sister Rachel when her parents passed away. Since that tragic day, their relationship has been strained. Jessica now has a thriving career helping people downsize and she is now back in Cape Sanctuary to help a widow declutter her home and hoping to repair her relationship with her sister. Will Jessica guard her heart with her sister and the wonderful family she is helping, or will she let them show her that she can find love once again?

While Jessica spent time in foster care, Rachel grew up in the ideal town of Cape Sanctuary after being adopted. She should have the perfect life. She has a wonderful husband; three beautiful children and she is a social media influencer. What everyone around her does not know is that she is falling apart after her son is diagnosed with Autism. When Jessica shows up on her doorstep will she open her heart and try to mend their relationship?

I am such a huge fan of RaeAnne Thayne and her writing style. This book was fabulous. The relationship between Jessica and Rachel was heartbreaking yet heartwarming as we see how two sisters can heal from the past together. Then we have a budding romance happening with Nate and how his family can be the family that Jessica has always been searching for. It is truly a book that takes you through all the emotions. Thank you so much to Harlequin Publishing, RaeAnne Thayne and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous! All opinions expressed for this review are unbiased and entirely my own.

Leave it RaeAnne Thanye to consistantly come through with the romance novel I'm looking for: clean, not smutty, sweet stories. While this one is book two in the series (and both are equally enjoyable!) it can most definatly be read as a stand alone. In fact, at first, I didn't remember much about book one and then it all started to come back to me, but I wasn't never confused about anything.

As I was first getting into this title, I assumed that it was a light and easy beach read, a little bit of family drama, a whole lot of romance, sandy shores, and sunshine. I was right… but I was also wrong. It reads like a warm and easy feel-good novel, but that shouldn’t deceive the reader. The author doesn’t go deep with a lot of issues, but she has created characters with weighty backstories who are definitely shaped by their pasts. There are experiences of neglect, abuse, and suicide, and a more prominent thread of grief and loss that have created the flawed, bruised characters of the present. Lest you think, wow, that’s dark, know that the characters are living, growing, changing, experiencing life, despite or in spite of those experiences – building business, families, relationships and finding themselves day by day.

The setting is absolutely gorgeous. For those of you not living on the west coast with sunshine and palm trees, after being cooped up for the last year it will definitely stir the travel bug. The entire cast of characters is delightful – Nate’s mom is just the best. There’s a balance in the developing romance and the strengthening of the sister’s relationship – defining this as women’s fiction vs. romance would be a struggle for me. I don’t think either outcome takes center stage and both carry equal importance in the telling of the story of the whole. We’d be lost without one or the other. Overall, it hit all the right notes for me – it’s a feel-good, delightful, easy-to-read, happily ever after – just don’t be fooled that it’s all fluff and nonsense.

My thanks to the publisher for the complimentary copy.

RaeAnne Thayne never disappoints when you want to read a poignant and heartwarming story that will move you and make you smile.
This one is a well written story about family, not letting the past dictates who you are and finding you path.
The book is told by three different point of view: Jessie, Rachel and Nate.
Jessie is my favorite characters as she's a strong woman who was hurt but is willing to let the past go.
All the characters are well thought and interesting.
The descriptions of the setting are great and made me wish I was there.
A sweet story that I recommend.
Many thanks to MIRA and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

About the Book: Jess Clayton owns Transitions, a business that helps older people clean out their clutter. She has taken a two week job helping Eleanor Whitaker in Cape Sanctuary which also lets Jess be close to her sister, Rachel and Rachel’s three kids.

Rachel and Jess were very close until they were teenagers but after their parents died violently, they were sent to two different foster families.

Jess travels in her Airstream and doesn’t think setting down roots would ever work for her.

Rachel is married to her high school love, Cody, and is a successful lifestyle influencer but with a diagnosis of her youngest child having autism she is struggling to keep up her IG perfect life.

Nate Whitaker is Eleanor’s only child and lives on the family property with his teen daughter, Sophie.

Nate and Jess have a spark but with Jess just a temporary part of his life, neither party thinks it’s a good idea to get involved.

It’s time for Jess and Rachel to mend and build relationships after growing up in a volatile home.

My Thoughts

This book is told in three voices: Nate, Rachel and Jess and I enjoyed each of their perspectives.

For me, this book deals with the theme of not letting your past dictate your present and I think that in each of the characters’ circumstances this theme was wonderfully played out.

I think the name of the town is absolutely appropriate since all parties involved in this story need to feel that safety of Sanctuary.

Jess has taken a job in Cape Sanctuary. She hopes to renew her relationship with her sister. Jess finds her sister is struggling with her life and family. She also discovers it is very hard to forgive the past and move forward. But with the help of Nate, Jess might discover more than she expected.

I love new beach reads! It’s my favorite time of the book publishing year! And this year is shaping up fantastically!

This is a wonderful story. Jess is one of my favorite characters in this novel. She has a unique job with a unique living situation. Jess cleans out clutter and she travels in her refurbished airstream trailer to do it. But, she comes with a good bit of baggage. And when she sees her sister, Rachel, again it all starts to come to the surface.

Need a good, heartwarming, family twist with a love story thrown in…this is it! Grab your copy today.

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

I find that sibling relationships will always be complicated among each other. And it’s best for them to figure out their issue than anyone else to interfere. It will get messy really quick. And thankfully Jess and Rachel will bring back their sister relationship on track after they sort their own issue in their personal lives. Jess is happy to be closer to her sister after she accepts a job around the area. But nothing is ever easy when it’s about her sister. Jess really does not understand the distance between them but she is willing to come through especially when she becomes attached to her client and family. Rachel knows her relationship with her sister is strained, but she really does not have time to fix it when she is more worried about her marriage and her son's recent diagnosis. Maybe she thinks she does not have the time for her sister but I think it is the best time because who knows your true self. Their relationship may be messy but it’s love. And love is always worth fighting for.

Jess rarely spends more than a few weeks in any place, going from job to job as a clean-up/declutter guru for her business, Transitions. This is just the way she likes it. No close, long-term attachments that can drag you down and damage. However, she’s taken on a job in Cape Sanctuary, her younger sister Rachel’s hometown because she sensed an undercurrent of stress coming from her. It’s been a long time since the two have been close, but maybe she can help and close some of the distance between them.

Rachel for her part is stressed out. Trying to emulate the perfect housewife and mother as an influencer has become just about impossible with her three-year-old Silas throwing tantrums daily. Finding out he’s on the spectrum wasn’t a shock, but it’s disheartening to feel so helpless as Silas becomes frustrated and at times out of control. It’s definitely put a strain her marriage, and Rachel feels like she’s drowning under the pressure. Having her older sister visit only adds to the stress, as their relationship has been strained for many years.

Can these two sort out their problems and find happiness? Jess and Rachel each faced relatable, realistic problems, that made it easy for me to put myself in their shoes and root for a solution, a HEA for both. There’s not one, but two romances here: Rachel and her high-school sweetheart hubby facing the challenges dealing with a special needs child and Jess finding a man in Cape Sanctuary when she had no plans on ever settling down. I loved both romances and each were low on drama. I appreciated that the conflict made sense and didn’t drag on and on.

Loved the Northern California coastal setting that came to life with Ms. Thayne’s beautiful descriptions! It’s such a gorgeous area, sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean that take your breath away! There’s a spot I visit at least yearly, close to the Oregon border that I pictured in my mind as I read. Now I want to go again!

The Path to Sunshine Cove was such a lovely, feel-good kind of romance that I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys an uplifting story!

This is book 3 in the "Cape Sanctuary" series and the first one I've read! I do not feel like I was missing anything or feel lost at all. This was a really enjoyable book about sisters, love, and family bonds. It gave me all the feels...very emotional....happy and sad tears! Jess was separated from her sister in her teens, and raised In foster care. She is now a professional organizer, where she helps people reorganize their homes. She gets a job for 2 weeks in Sunshine Cove, which is very close to where her sister Rachel lives. Rachel has a son, and struggling with his
autism diagnosis. The 2 sisters want to be close again, and this may just be the time. Jess also has a love interest in her clients son Nate. He's a single father to a 13 year old girl.

I loved the ocean setting of Sunshine Cove and I really enjoyed the characters as well. I loved seeing them all grow through their troubles with each other. I love family drama, which I've mentioned before and this was right up my alley! I definitely recommend you check out this one! And now I will be reading the first 2 in the series!

4.5/5

RaeAnne Thayne is my go to author when I want a sweet, comforting read full of heartfelt moments, lovely characters and a beautiful setting. I know exactly what kind of story I’ll be getting when I dive into one of her books and they never disappoint.

This one follows Jess as she arrives in the town of Cape Sanctuary to work with a new client. Her sister Rachel lives in town and she’s hoping that besides helping Eleanor clean out her house, she’ll also be able to reconnect with her sister after years of a strained relationship. You hear from both sisters viewpoints as well as from Nate, Eleanor’s son and I always enjoy multiple perspectives. One of the things that I love the most about the authors books is that you get a romantic storyline as well as something additional plot wise and this was no exception. There’s a budding romance between Jess and Nate but there’s also a lot going on between the sisters both together and separately. Rachel has three kids, two girls and then a boy and she’s also struggling with her sons recent autism diagnosis, so I definitely had so much in common with her. I found myself relating to her quite a bit as she dealt with her emotions, fears and concerns surround her sons future and I thought the author did a great job at exploring the emotions special needs parents face. Overall another really lovely book from one of my faves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I have a new to me author to share today- @raeannethayne! I read the second book in the Cape Sanctuary series, the Path to Sunshine Cove over the weekend. I didn’t get to read the first book yet, but I’m definitely will! I love when you find an author with a lot of backlist and you can read many more.

This story takes place in Northern California and share the story of two kind of estranged sisters. Jess is returns to her hometown for a job working as a professional organizer for an older woman looking to clean out her giant family mansion. Jess’s sister Rachel lives here with her family including a special needs toddler. Jess and Rachel spent some of their childhood in foster care before Rachel was adopted by loving parents and Jess had to live apart in a group home. They had a plan to reunite when they turned 18, but Rachel backs out on the plan and the sisters don’t talk much for years until now. Jess becomes close with Eleanor, the woman who hired her and even closer with her adult son Nate and his daughter Sophie.

Returning to her hometown has brought up a lot of feelings about her family and her life and Jess starts to think long term. Should she continue her nomad life? Or is it time to settle somewhere?

I really like this book- it’s a sweet story, but still has a little grit. The sisters childhood was awful to read about and I can’t imagine going through what they did. I loved Jess’s story of how she got into the military and it taught her discipline that helped her find her passion for helping people downsize and clean out their homes.

It was a small part of the story, but I also enjoyed seeing Rachel’s sister take a proactive approach to her young son’s autism and getting help from specialists. If showed that life doesn’t have to stop with that diagnosis and she could have a lovable family life.

4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to @raeannethayne @harlequinbooks and @netgalley for the ARC copy.
