Aftermath is a must read! I literally couldn't put it down. I'm already a huge fan of Terri Blackstock and this book didn't disappoint. The characters are so well developed that I felt like I was right there with them. I experienced OCD with Taylor, felt Dustin's anguish at the immense betrayal, and sensed the tumolt of emotions going through Jamie throughtout the story. Highly recommend.

I have been a fan of Terri Blackstock for many years, and her new book did not disappoint! Once you read the first page, you will be hooked until the end. I stayed up way too late to finish the book!

Aftermath is a tale of tragedy, hope, redemption, and second chances. The author is excellent at taking two or three different stories and weaving them into one unforgettable story.

I recommend anyone who enjoys Christian fiction and suspense to read Aftermath. I hope you love it as much as I did.

I have absolutely loved every book by this author and this one is no different! You get a a little mystery with some suspenseful moments.. a touch of religion and romance, not to much, just enough to make it perfect!

The author gives you some back story, and lets the plot play its self out which in my opinion is the way books should be written. 5 full stars for the newest upcoming release!

Do you know someone well enough to ABSOLUTELY believe in their innocence and never doubt? Jamie does and that is amazing. You don't see that much these days. All we do is doubt. Then there is the bombing and why it happened..... Then there is the poor girl and her side effects. You just have to read this page turner for yourself to see all that goes on in this great book!

Innocent until proven guilty was that a thing anymore? Not with social media going wild and making claims that were not true. How to get at the truth without making things worse. That’s the dilemma for the main character Dustin as he gets pulled over by police one ordinary day. He cannot imagine why the police pulled him over. He was not doing anything wrong. They ask to search his car. He is a former military person who owns his own company. He has nothing to hide, so he lets them search. The situation quickly escalates when they find unimaginable things in his trunk; last, he knew his trunk was empty. He calls Jamie Powell, the only true friend he has, she is a criminal attorney and would know how to help him out of this mess. He says to her, “Crazy how condemning a bunch of facts can look.”

I like how the author told the story from Dustin’s point of view, with a peek into Jamie’s life and that of a bombing survivor named Taylor. This is a compelling novel with characters you feel for, a situation that is crazy and a lawyer that is trying her best to keep her lawyer hat on to see all the things she needs to see to win this case before it goes to trial. She is trying hard not to fall for the Dustin she knew years ago, a boy that grabbed her heart back then and her heart was betraying her now as she does her best to protect Dustin.

I liked how the author naturally weaves an inspirational thread through the story, “An old passage Dustin remembered from a Bible study he’d done when he’d first found Christ years ago drifted across his mind. It was from Psalm 91. He whispered it as a personal anguished prayer. “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress. My God, in whom I trust!”

This is a gripping, romantic suspenseful novel you will find hard to put down. This would make a great book club pick there is so much to discuss.

Terri Backstock delivers another thrilling, suspense-filled story that kept me flipping pages late into the night.

Three best friends attend a political rally for the sole purpose of hearing the warmup band. When an explosion rocks the venue, only one of the friends lives to tell the tale. Taylor Reid, already suffering from OCD, can't shut off her memories after she escapes the auditorium. Could she have saved her friends?

Security expert Dustin Webb has nothing to hide, so when he is pulled over after an anonymous tip leads police to stop his car, he allows them to search. No one is more surprised than he is when they find explosives in his trunk. Arrested, the only person he can think to call is his childhood best friend, Jamie Powell.

All grown up since he saw her last, Jamie is now one of the city's best criminal defense attorneys. Jamie takes the case, relying heavily on the Dustin she knew growing up. She believes completely that the Dustin she knew then has only gotten more honorable with age, and that there is no way he would, or could have helped terrorists set off the bomb that killed 26 people, including the candidate who was to speak. Even with nearly every clue pointing his way, she is willing to keep digging until they can find the one clue that points to the truth.

Can Dustin and Jamie find the truth before Dustin finds himself in prison, or dead?

Wow, this story! From the very beginning, there were very few clues to the culprit's identity until very nearly the end of the book. I loved how steadfast Jamie was in her support of a man she hasn't seen in almost as long as she knew him before. Dustin, for his part, was surprisingly fearful of showing his heart, but when he finally does, sparks fly! Taylor was a harder character to like, though her interference is what finally breaks the case wide open. I felt bad for her, but even I, looking in, could see she needed help. Why did it take her so long to see it herself?

Readers who love romantic suspense NEED to pick this one up. It was a thrill ride from the explosion at the beginning to the end. This one gets all the stars from me!

I received this one free from the publisher, but every opinion here is mine!

As usual, Terri Blackstock draws you into the story with great suspense. I was rooting for main characters Dustin and Jamie the whole way through. Dustin needs old friend and attorney Jamie when he finds himself accused of a terrorist crime that kills many innocent people. Will they figure out what happened in time? You won’t want to put this book down once you start. Highly recommended.

From page one I was completely immersed. I didn't want to put 'Aftermath' by Terri Blackstock down for a second. The complex elements of loyalty addressed in this suspenseful novel were a hallmark for me. All things are not simple, and the author brilliantly made this point in a deep and poignant way. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

Aftermath by Terri Blackstock is not reader’s typical romantic suspense novel. There really is not a suspenseful element that drives the story along and has the reader grasping for justice. Right away, there is an element of tension that affects the outcome of the characters. The hero is thrown for a loop and trying to stay out of jail with the help of the heroine. While there is a hunt to figure out who created the bomb and wanted it to destroy the politician, the story really centers around the characters emotions and feelings as they try to solve who set up the hero. As I was reading the story, the plot reminded me a lot of Life After by Katie Ganshert. Not a real suspense novel. Just a contemporary novel with a little bit of the uneasiness of knowing who did the damage. The person who actually set the bomb in motion had a clear motive that I could have gotten behind, but I still do not agree with how he did it. Overall, if readers enjoyed this story, then I suggest picking up Ganshert’s novel too. It is along the same storyline.

I received a complimentary copy of Aftermath by Terri Blackstock by Thomas Nelson Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

A page-turning, nail-biting, who done it new release from Terri Blackstock will have readers hooked until the final page.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and I can’t believe this is the first suspense I’ve read by this author!
Terri Blackstock is a talented writer who keeps readers guessing until the very end.
A victim of a stadium bombing copes with the trauma of leaving her friends behind to rescue herself. An innocent veteran is accused of the attack. A criminal defence lawyer who knows the accused. A best friend and wife’s last hope is an experimental treatment. All of these characters have something to prove and their paths will twist, turn and cross in so many different ways it may leave your brain spinning.
Descriptions of the bombing, post-traumatic stress, and the struggle with cancer and experimental treatments are detailed and create empathy toward the victims and their families. There’s a beautiful faith thread that ties two of the characters together, bringing about forgiveness and restoration into each of their lives.
An excellent read that I didn’t want to put down.

The story of a bomb planted at a political rally and concert had me absolutely riveted from beginning to end. Dustin, the man who was orphaned at a very young age, is suspected of terrorism and arrested. That leads to his calling his old childhood friend, Jamie Powell, to be his defense attorney. The action was non-stop and the story was a totally intense read on so many fronts. There was Dustin charged with supplying the explosives for the bomb, Jamie who is trying desperately to defend her friend, Travis, Dustin’s business partner who is spending all of his time with his wife Chrystal, who is dying of cancer and Taylor, the young woman who walked away from the explosion but who is suffering from the loss of her two best friends there. The emotions were deep in this exploration of domestic terrorism, desperation and loss of freedom. I did not really relate to any of the characters since I have never suffered as they have, but all of them were well-developed and three-dimensional. I cried with Taylor over the loss of her friends. I sobbed at the Chrystal’s bedside, knowing that her death would mean two toddlers would be motherless. I was at the edge of my seat when Dustin was arrested and when Jamie was working hard to exonerate him. The entire book was breathtakingly realistic and scary good! I would highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a fantastic romantic suspense thriller. The tale of the aftermath following a disaster and all of the people who are affected was compelling and an excellent addition to any library.

Thank you to NetGalley for letting me read this advanced reader copy. I enjoy Terri Blackstock so much. She was my first introduction to Christian Mysteries when I was in college over 20 years ago. Her writing is still gripping and as good as ever. This was a really good book about redemption after many years and how God can work even the worst circumstances for good.

I really wanted to like this bookend it was good. It had all the elements I enjoy: terrorist attack, multiple perspectives and someone to root for. I just was not a fan of the Christian parts throw in. It seemed to be shoe horned in and not part of the characters makeup. I did enjoy not having to worry about any swearing in this book.
This is a nice setup for a series if the author chooses to go that direction. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC!

Aftermath by Terri Blackstock is a fantastic book that I didn't want to end. I would make myself put it down so I would have something to read that night. Blackstock is one my favorite authors and this may be her best story so far. It is suspenseful and never slows down.

The book starts off with three girls attending a political rally strictly for the warm up band that is playing before the candidate speaks. . But after a deadly explosion, only girl makes it out of alive.
The story continues as Dustin Webb is driving down the interstate and pulled over by the authorities due to an anonymous tip. After finding explosives in his trunk which he knew nothing about, he is arrested and gets his one call. He calls his best friend growing up, Jamie Powell who is now a criminal attorney. Jamie drops everything and comes immediately to help her friend even though they had lost their connection through the years. She and Dustin find themselves still caring for each other but must put that aside to solve the mystery of why he set up.

There are several stories in background that contribute to the plot. You will enjoy seeing it all come together. I would rate this book a five out of five. I was given a copy to review by Net Galley and Thomas Nelson and my opinion is my own.

I was so drawn in and engrossed in this book that I was bummed when I finished it. I wanted to go out for coffee with Jamie, meet Dustin’s dog, and visit Crystal in the hospital. I don’t know if Ms. Blackstock will be writing a sequel, but I can imagine several ways the story could go. I would definitely recommend reading any of Terri Blackstock’s books!

I don’t read that many suspense novels, so was not sure about this one but it was excellent, It is a literal page turner that made me want to keep reading. The characters are believable and aroused my sympathies. The situation is also to close to being real after all of the roots of the past year.
I recommend this to anyone who wants a good read for a weekend,
