Another enjoyable Mary Kay Andrews book! Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC review. This book was a nice mix of Florida beach life, suspense, and a splash of romance. The main character Letty is on the run with her niece Maya when she ends up finding shelter at a Florida motel full of "snowbirds". The truth of the situation is slowly revealed as the pages basically turned themselves.

I’ve heard the name Mary Kay Andrews on many occasions but this is the first time I’ve actually read anything by her. I’m kicking myself for waiting this long!! The Newcomer is such a great read! I loved the characters, the drama and the ending! I was hooked the first page and couldn’t put it down until I was done. I will be buying another Mary Kay Andrews book right now!

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!
This is my first Mary Kay Andrews read and I can't wait to get my hands on more! This book follows Letty and Maya as they travel to Florida after a horrific event occurs in New York. The book unveils the life of Tanya, Letty's sister and the crime and abuse she experienced. Letty rescues Maya, a 4yo, the daughter of Tanya and tries to protect her from additional harm. While escaping to Florida, she moves into a small beach front motel and becomes friends with the owner and her family. I loved following the progression and connections Letty uncovers during her time at the motel. Many twists and turns, leaving you to want more!

Another fun read from MKA. Letty is on the run at the Murmuring Surf Motel in Treasure Island, FLA. Definitely fun to read, as are all her books. Sit on the beach, or by the pool, or anywhere and enjoy. I received this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

When she finds her sisters dead body Lettie takes her 4 year old niece and runs to Florida where she begins to uncover the secrets her sister had been harboring. To clear her own name as a murder suspect she must try to unravel the truth with the help with the local motel owner and her cop son.
This book had such promise but it just landed short for me - it felt slow and kind of drug out. I really enjoyed the characters though - I just wanted more plot development.

Loved! This book had me hooked from the beginning. When Letty finds her sister dead in her NYC apartment, she knows it was her ex who did it. Letty promised her sister she would take her daughter Maya and run away if anything happened to her. Now on the run, Letty ends up in a family-run motel in Florida hoping to find the truth.

The Newcomer by Mary Kay Andrews will be a great summer beach read. I enjoyed all the characters and the motel setting very much. I could picture myself living in one of the cottages for the winter months. The characters all contribute to moving the story forward with their sincerety and amusing interactions. Throw in a little mystery and romance and you have another winner. Overall a very enjoyable and entertaining read. Thank you Netgalley and St. Martins Publishing for the opportunity to read another fantastic book.

Love the storyline, drama and how it unfolds. Not her typical beach read, but it was full of a page turning thrill.
Told from current and past perspectives - gives the readers a quick glimpse of what’s to come.
When Letty’s finds her sister, Tanya, brutally killed in her lavished apartment, she grabs the necessities and her niece Maya. They are on the run- for anywhere away from Tanya’s overbearing ex- Evan. Evan will do anything to get to Letty and get Maya back.
Letty settles in a quaint town, Treasure Island, FL to find she loves being a part of the snowbird community. She has a job, some stability and a roof over her head at the motel she works.
How long can she keep this up until Evan finds her? Or until Tanya’s past catches up to them both?

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC of The Newcomer By Mary Kay Andrews.
While the story dragged on a bit longer than it needed to, I enjoyed this book quite a lot. The descriptions of the motel and the beach were especially vivid and appreciated in this chilly January. I liked the characters and adored their nicknames (Maya Papaya, Tanya Lasagna and Letty Spaghetti --- could they be any cuter??). While the story was a bit predictable, it was well told and there were a couple things that kept me guessing. Mary Kay Andrews is a very talented author and this doesn't disappoint.

I really tried to enjoy this novel of a woman trying to solve her sisters murder. It seemed too off the wall and the characters were too unrealistic Seemed a bit of a fantasy to me

I thought this was an easy read, and a book that the reader was easily drawn into. As a reader you will fall in love with the characters and the lives they are leading. This book is romance novel, with the mystery thrown into the mix to keep you on your toes. You will be constantly trying to figure out who the bad guy (or girl) is.

I received an early copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Sadly, this one didn’t hit the mark for me. I thought it was entirely too long and drawn out. I enjoyed the plot, although very predictable, and the characters were easy to love, but I thought the whole book was so basic. I chose 3 stars for the lovable characters, quick chapters and overall easy read, but I wouldn’t recommend.
Posted to goodreads.

I loved The Newcomer. Mary Kay Andrews newest book is a lovely trip to the beach with a little romance
and suspense thrown in to the mix. There's also a nod to her previous books that MKA fans will recognize.
I read this book in one sitting because I could not put it down.

This book made me want to move to Treasure Island, Florida! The setting came alive and the dialogue was all genuine and believable. This is a book that seems like it would be plot driven but is actually character driven. There was no major twist (unfortunately? It might’ve been a little better with a big twist) but I enjoyed the ride even though it was a predictable one. The characters were fleshed out and imperfect and I very much enjoyed their interactions with one another. I read it all in one night because I was enjoying it so much, but I wouldn’t say it’s particularly suspenseful. Totally enjoyable read, would definitely recommend this to a friend.
4/5 stars.

Mary Kay Andrews serves up a mystery along with romance in her latest novel. On the run from New York City and the greedy brother-in-law she is sure killed her sister--with her four-year-old neice in tow--Letty Carnahan takes temporary refuge at an old beach motel in Florida, a motel that holds secrets about her sister's past. With danger closing in, she gets help from a hip highschool hacker, a delightful cast of characters and curmudgeons at the Murmuring Surf Motel, and a handsome police officer. The retirees of the Murmuring Surf are one of the delights of the book, as is the gruff FBI agent I hope to see again. A breezy read from an author who never disappoints.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I have loved MKA's books for as long as I can remember. And this one is no exception. Letty is on the run with her niece. There is danger back in NYC but there is also danger in Treasure Island Florida if anyone finds out who she is. This is more than a "beach" read. Its about family ties and taking care of each other. Broken trust and finding trust again. Just another great MKA book!

The Newcomer is the latest of Mary Kay Andrews and it hits its mark as this summer’s new beach read. The mystery takes the forefront in this book compared to the romance. Letty Carnahan has left New York City in the middle of the night with her four year old niece after finding her sister dead in her townhouse. Letty soon finds herself a new parent, wanted by the law, and in need of some desperate help from a motel owner on the gulf coast of Florida. Unfortunately for Letty, her sister left behind a lot of secrets that lead her into circumstances she never expected!

Another great summer read from Mary Kay Andrews! She’s one of my favourite author and this book is the perfect mix of suspense, intrigue and romance.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Letty visits her sister Tanya's apartment where she finds gr dead. Letty takes her niece and goes on the run. Tanya always said if something happened to her it was her ex-husband who did it. She escapes to Florida to figure out what happened. This book was well written.

I really enjoyed this novel by Mary Kay Andrews. She did a wonderful job painting a picture of the beach, you could almost feel the sea breeze and smell the salt air from the ocean. It was a welcome escape from our current reality. The characters of the novel were well written and you were drawn into their stories. A true story of family love, as imperfect as that can often be.
