The Stranger in the Mirror - Liv Constantine

Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When I was thinking of how to describe the roller coaster of thoughts I had while reading this book I kept coming to the word mind fuck. According to Google’s dictionary, a mind f***is described as “a disturbing or extremely confusing experience, in particular one that is caused by deliberate psychological manipulation”. Addison definitely went through multiple mind f***s throughout the novel. This book had so many twists and turns and I loved it! I couldn’t wait to wake up this morning to finish it. Liv Constantine does it again!!!

Thanks to @netgalley, @livconstantine2, and @harpercollins for allowing me to review this book.

Summary:

Addison does not have many memories since she was found by a truck driver on the side of the road two years ago. The truck driver, Ed, and his wife took Addison in and provided food and shelter for Addison. Addison is able to make a life for herself despite the memories of her past and finds a fiancé named Gabriel.

Julian is a doctor living in an expensive mansion near Boston. Julian is looking for his missing wife named Cassandra. He has been looking for his wife and the mother of his child for two years.

As the stories collide, Addison struggles to find her place in the world.

My Thoughts:

I absolutely loved this book as I loved all of Liv Constantine’s books!

I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book will be released in July of 2021.

The Last Mrs Parrish was a great read, and I enjoyed The Wife Stalker fine enough, so I was eager to see what the authors had this time out.

First impression was “Ok, seems like I’ve read this plot a hundred times...how is this one gonna be different?” The story moved along nicely so I stuck with it. Characters The first flashback scene is interesting....hmmmm.

At the ending of part 2., I was like “Wait..WHAT?!”

Sorry to say it kind of lost me at that point. Just seemed too over the top, too convenient. I said “Oh brother” way too many times from Part 3 on. Just too “been there done that”. Still a Liv Constantine fan, just this one was a nope.

It gets a 3 from me because the beginning was interesting and page-turning.

Interesting nuggets:
Blythe as name for the MIL is too funny. Clever!

How does Addison end up with not one but TWO excessively wealthy men? Come on. Not buying it.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I have loved these authors previous works & this latest novel, "The Stranger in the Mirror" in no exception! A fast paced thriller with an interesting premise of a new bride with complete amnesia... lots of twists & turns along the way. I really enjoyed this one and highly recommend it! My thanks to the authors, publisher & Net Galley for the ARC.

What happens when you can’t remember your past or your name? You move on...unless your past won’t let you.

This dynamic duo of authors crafts another perfect, twisty thriller. Read it!

I will read anything Liv Constantine writes, I’m a big fan. My favorite was The Last Mrs. Parrish and if you haven’t read it, grab it today!

The Stranger in the Mirror was a captivating novel and kept me engaged and wondering what was going to happen next. I loved the premise of a missing woman, amnesia, potentially evil men, a little girl, and more. How terrifying to wake up one day and be confused as to your true identity. You can’t trust anyone, even those who claim to know you. Yikes.

Check it out:

Addison’s about to get married, but she’s not looking forward to the big day. It’s not her fiancé; he’s a wonderful man. It’s because Addison doesn’t know who she really is. A few years ago, a kind driver found her bleeding next to a New Jersey highway and rescued her. While her physical wounds healed, Addison’s memory never returned. She doesn’t know her real name. Or how she ended up injured on the side of a road. Or why she can’t shake the notion that she may have done something very, very bad . . .

In a posh home in the Boston suburbs, Julian tries to figure out what happened to his loving, caring wife, Cassandra, who disappeared without a trace two years ago. She would never have left him and their seven-year-old daughter Valentina of her own free will—or would she?

Beware of twists and turns and you might think you know what’s happening but … you don’t! Coming out on July 6.

I loved this book! I recently read The Last Mrs. Parrish, so I was prepared for a juicy thriller. The Stranger in the Mirror did not disappoint.

Addison is a young woman who has no memories of her past. Two years ago she was found walking on a road, badly injured. She’s tried to start over, but her past is always in the back of her mind. The story pieces her life back together, with regained memories, and the introduction of players from her former life. Each move has you thinking you know what is coming next, but the resolution is surprisingly satisfying.

Addison is about to get married, but she's nervous because she doesn't really know who she is. A few years ago she was rescued by a kindly man who found her by the side of the road, but her memory never returned, so she made up a name and an identity.

In Boston, Julian is trying to figure out where his wife Cassandra is and why she would have disappeared two years ago and leave him and their seven-year-old daughter behind.

Constantine's new novel is psychologically twisty and page-turny!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a chance to review this outstanding book by Liv Constantine.
Addison is a showcase photographer planning the perfect wedding with her fiancé Gabriel. It appears everything is in order except for the need to know who she really is and her future mother-in-law is just the person to hire a detective to protect her son’s heart from a woman who lost her memory of who she is and where she came from two years ago.
Abandoned and injured, a sweet little couple Ed and Gigi take her in hoping she can get on her feet and rebuild her memories. This is how she was introduced to her future husband.
Meanwhile, several states away is Julian mourning the loss of his wife, Cassandra....while raising their daughter alone.
This book is an amazing thriller that twists and catches you off guard with its unbelievable characters and mind controlling games. You will not know who to cheer for and cry for in this psychological thriller. I could not help but think of the movie Before I Go To Sleep starring Nicole Kidman...yikes....This author is amazing!!!

Addison is like any bride, she is very nervous about her upcoming wedding. She is trying to get her future mother in laws approval but there is one thing that is very different for her. She doesn't know who she is, she has no memory of who she was.
Julian  a successful doctor has been a single father for the past two years, he has been looking for his wife after she disappeared two years ago.
Both of their lives are on a collision course to turn everything upside down when these two cross each other's paths.  Julian claims that Addison is his missing wife that disappeared two years ago. While Addison finally thinks that she will get the answers that she has been searching for, the twist and turns show that not everything is as it may seem!
So this is my first by Liv Constantine and I was not disappointed at all. Constantine had me hooked from the beginning and while I was hooked from the beginning the ending was like the fireworks in July! Fantastic narration and the plot! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the other mrs and domestic thrillers!
Thank you Netgally and HarperCollins for the opportunity to read and review this one!

My gratitude to Harper and Netgalley for this ARC.

Addison Hope has amnesia, has no idea who she is (Addison is made-up name), where she came from or why she was wandering on a highway when a trucker picked her up. She has jagged scars on her arms that appear to be from when she tried to take her life. She makes a home with the trucker and his wife, soon falls in love and becomes engaged to be married.

In another state Julian’s wife Cassandra has been missing for two years. Why would she leave him and her 7-year-old daughter? Could Cassandra and Addison be one and the same?

This thriller is full of inside-out twists. Early on it’s clear who the culprit is, but how and why must be explained, too.

Written by a sister duo with the pen name Liv Constantine, you’ll stay up at night to finish this riveting and puzzling story. I’d love to know how these two sisters work together because the results are mighty fine.

I highly recommend this title and any other written by Liv Constantine.

I received this book from netgalley in exchange for a review.
I've read others by this author before and was immediately drawn to this one.
Addison finds herself engaged to a wealthy gentleman, and living a pretty good life, despite the fact she cant remeber who she is. Two years ago, Ed found her on the highway alomg his truckimg route, and decided to lend her a had. She's been with him and his wife ever since.
Miles away, Julian is looking for the wife who disappeared one day. He has a chance encounter while speaking at a medical conference. He convinces Addison that she's really Cassandra, his wife, mother of their child, missing for 2 years.
She decides that's what's best is to return to her old life and daughter and push away the family she's been developing as Addison. But when she goes back, she has difficulty adjusting to her old life as Cassandra and the mental strain she begins to feel.
Pretty good read overall, just pretty farfetched in places.

Liv Constantine is clearly making herself a force to be reckoned with in the thriller genre. The Stranger In The Mirror follows Addison, a young woman with amnesia living in Philly who is attempting to piece together her old life while starting a new one with her fiancé Gabriel. In Boston, Jullian’s wife and the mother of his child have been missing for 2 years, without a trace or lead to follow. After a chance crossing of their paths, things take a turn quickly. This novel is tense, twisty, and very soapy. I did have some issues with the dialogue between the characters, it seemed a little vapid and forced, but overall a great read!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love a good thriller with twists and turns! The Stranger in the Mirror started off strong- the storyline of a women with amnesia sucked me in but as it moves forward it’s lacking credibility.... Addison Hope turns up in Pennsylvania with no memory of who she is. She builds a new life and is planning a wedding to the love of her new life when her old life collides with her stress free née one. Who should she trust?? Be ready for a wild ride!! I was surprised and shocked at some of the twists but was hoping to feel more of an attachment to the storyline and the characters. This is a solid 3.5 stars!!

Sending a sincere thank you to NetGalley and an advanced copy of The Stranger in the Mirror for my honest review! Can’t wait to see what comes next!!

Clever, twisty and highly satisfactory. Probably this book will be one of the greatest 2021 hits. We will keep hearing about this one for sure.

Another fantastic twisty tale! The only thing I didn’t love was how the villain basically had to just tell the reader what he did. I think there could have been more hints or self discovery on Amelia’s part. But overall, a successful story!

I so look forward to Liv Constantine’s books. They are edgy and fast-paced and keep you guessing. The Stranger in the Mirror was a fascinating glance into a truly evil mind and I can’t get enough.

Addison couldn’t remember anything about her past . . . Not even her name. A truck driver found her hitchhiking and took her home where she was like a daughter to him and his wife. She met Gabriel and was planning on marrying him, but she was plagued by traumatic flashbacks that frightened her.

Then, after two years, handsome doctor appears at the art gallery where Addison is exhibiting her photography. He claims to be her husband. But is he really?

Buckle up for the wild ride this twisty story will take you on! I cannot wait to read more books by this author!

I really enjoyed this fast paced novel. I found it to be really well plotted and thoughtful. I was surprised by a handful of twists and turns. This author is hitting it out of the park and I am stoked for what she puts out next. This book is particularly nice in front of a cozy fire with a big cup of tea.

Wow! What a wild ride this book is. You think you know, and maybe you do, but then you don't. It's truly so full of twists and turns, I actually gasped out loud.
Addison Hope is about to marry the man of her dreams, into a wealthy family, who support her work in photography. The only problem: she has no idea who she is.
Found wandering alone on a New Jersey highway, she has no memories of her life before that, only flashes. She knows there was violence, but not much more. The doctors say she's never had a child, but that is the only clue to her past.
Julian is trying to find his wife Cassandra. She disappeared two years ago and he has never stopped looking for her. Imagine his surprise when he sees a new gallery opening for a photographer, Addison Hope, and he realizes that she is Cassandra. He is determined to bring her home and have her return to her normal life.
Only things for Addison/Cassandra begin to unravel quickly as life with Julian is not what she expected.
While I did enjoy this book, it's not as good as the authors other books. It's just too....hard to believe.
