At the beginning of this book,we are introduced to Jan,a character I immeadiately liked.
She seemed to know her own mind.
Then I spent the majority of the book waiting for her to show up again in a bigger way than she did.
The whole ghosts, dreams thing was interesting enough, though I felt the pace of the book a bit slow.
It started off better than it continued for me.

This is a republishing of a classic novel from 1924, which is a bit of a whimsical mock up. Not bad, though I wish this had been made clearer in the description I had been given. The tale is a solid pick, and the cover does a good job of making it more intriguing to the unwitting reader. But it is a short tale, and one that has been out for some decades.

I consumed this book in one sitting. The writing was absolutely beautiful and the way the two stories were weaved together to become one was stunning.

I only wish it was longer so I could stay in the story forever. This is my first Margaret Irwin book and I will definitely have to pick up a few more.

When I requested an ARC from NetGalley, I didn't realize that this book was indeed not new and written almost a hundred years ago, so maybe I came into this expecting something different. The premise sounded interesting - kind of a ghost love story - but I found it rather slow moving. There also wasn't much focus on Jan and instead we spent most of the story with Juliana and her brother. Maybe their relationship was normal for the time and my viewpoint from 2020 taints this, but their very close relationship almost seemed too close at times. I was hoping for a bit more excitement, but this unfortunately didn't deliver.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
