Plant based or vegan food but for the slow cooker which is great as many people only use theirs for roasting or stewing meat. Very inspiring, would prefer some stove top alternative instructions though.

Good book for people who want to eat more nutritious food, not just for people who follow a plant based diet. Very happy with the recipes!

Another great collection of vegan recipes from Robin Robertson! I'm always looking for ways to vary my cooking and I do love my slow cooker. With 225 recipes, there's sure to be something for everyone here!

Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Harvard Common Press, Harvard Common Press and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

My wife and I are gravitating toward a vegetarian diet and this book has so many scrumptious sounding recipes that I can’t wait to try them.

The Chai-Spiced Breakfast Bread is calling my name. As is the North African Chickpea Soup, the Mom-Style Vegan Meatloaf, Spiced-Rubbed Whole Cauliflower, Chickpea and Mushroom Tagine...

My only criticism is that there are no pictures to accompany the recipes.

I really liked this cookbook. Usually slow-cooker recipes often include either meat or various cans of whatever, and this one didn't. It also had sections such as soup and pasta and there were recipes I'd love to try, such as the Cuban black bean soup.

This was an awesome addition to my cookbook collection. Usually slow cooker meals are full of cans and meat and this was the perfect solution. I really recommend it!

Starts with all the basics of cooking with a slow cooker, so that's interesting. After that the book dives in a lot of recipes. A lot of recipes I see online are always about the meat, so this book is a good change.

I'm a 95% vegetarian, in that I was fully veggie for 9 years, was never a big meat eater before that, and have never been since, but I do eat the occasional bit of meat or fish now. When it comes to cooking though, I am in the habit of cooking vegetarian meals or even vegan, as I prefer it, find it healthier and I feel a lot of guilt around meat!
So I'm always looking for new ideas, especially as my partner is not veggie but he likes eating plant-based meals.
I got an instant pot which also functions as a kind of slow cooker, but being completely new to it I wasn't sure what to make. Now I am armed with plenty of ideas and think it will save me time and energy in the kitchen.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I LOVE my slow cooker (because it is so easy and doesn't take much attention from me)! This book expanded by repertoire of slow cooker meals, which is much appreciated by my family!

Usually when you think slow cooker you think meat based meals so it is nice to see not just a vegetarian set of recipes but plant based recipes. There are several that I want to try but there are also some disadvantages to these recipes.
First, since they are plant based even the recipes that run on low are only for 4-6 hours in length, meaning that unless you have a timer set cooker you cannot put in the pot in the morning and have dinner when you get home.
Second, several of the recipes have meat replacement items and while the cookbook includes those recipes as well it means another item you have to make before you can even start the initial recipe. Now I know that eating large amounts of the processed meat replacement is not good but some recipes that included those would be helpful so that they seemed more user friendly.
Finally, multiple recipes have stove top steps or multiple timed steps to the recipe making them once again not set it and forget it recipes. Instead these feel more like the regular recipe and it just takes longer.
All that being said I like the concept and will try some of these next time I need a slow cooker recipe.

The good things about this cookbook: lots of recipes from many different cultures (though a bit heavy on the seitan), an entire section of stuffed recipes (e.g., stuffed eggplant), unique recipes I've not seen before.
The not-appealing parts: I only found a couple of recipes that sounded appealing. This is due, in a large part, to the lack of any photos in this book (not even on the cover). Maybe that will change in final production, but frankly, without photos, I rarely try a recipe. The visuals are very important to whether it seems appetizing.

Thank you to the publisher for my copy of this one - all opinions are my own.

I LOVE this new cookbook! As a vegan, it can oftentimes be hard to find delicious and accessible recipes - but this book offers them up in spades. I love that these recipes are all simple, and let me use my favorite appliance (especially in winter) to make delicious comfort foods. A must for all foodies!

This is a great resource for all who cook plant based. I loved the variety of easy receipes that are sure to be new favorites. The author discusses 225 receipes that you can make for all meals. I love how she incorporated sensible use for plant based meals of the slow cooker that anyone can cook with a busy schedule to have delicious nutritious meals. The author includes every type of food here for a great variety and even reviews different type of slow cookers and how to best cook vegetable, legumes and beans. This is a wonderful cook book that I highly recommend. I will be buying copies of this cookbook for friends for Xmas presents.

Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity.

I have been vegan for almost five years and a fan of the slow cooker for as long as I can remember. This books helps with both. Great recipes, easy to follow, my only complaint being that there aren't photos of the food.

I have to admit, I’m biased when it comes to this book. The original version has been one of my most used cookbooks for the past many years!

I’ve bought this book twice in the past, and will absolutely buy the new updated version. Robertson’s recipes are easy to follow and turn out well. I think it was a fantastic idea to release an updated version of this book with the new(ish) interest in plant-based cooking. There’s something for everyone in this book, and those who are new to eating vegan will be impressed with the simple, satisfying dishes.

The 17 new recipes in this book sound delicious! I can’t wait to get slow-cooking!

Thank you for the chance to read this updated version, Harvard Common Press & Netgalley!

I love to eat a healthy, plant-based diet however I don't enjoy spending a lot of time in the kitchen. I am always so excited to review cookbooks that use slow cookers! This one met all of my expectations! Delicious, vegan recipes that use easy-to-find ingredients and are simple to prepare. I look forward to trying the Spicy Tomato Queso Dip, Wild Mushroom Soup, Lasagna Primavera, Puttanesca Pizza, and Chocolate Truffle Cake!

Thank you, NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group, for a digital ARC!

There's some great ideas for slow cooker lovers. I did find it featured a lot of Jack fruit recipes and would have liked to have seen a variation in these. There was a strong introduction with a good explanation to ensure you get the best out of your slow cooker. Loves the fact that there was pasta recipe!

I was so impressed with this book! I already noted quite a few recipes that I cannot wait to make.

There is an incredible amount of variety in the recipes, but what really stuck with me the most was the fact that the vast majority of the recipes can be made with items that I generally have handy, rather than having to go shopping specifically for obscure or unusual ingredients.

I was so surprised at what you can do with a slow cooker, that I have never thought of. I have used mine to make stew and soups, but I've never realized that you could make PIZZA in a slow cooker, and that is absolutely going to be the first recipe I try from this book. And like I said, it's all made from ingredients that I already have in my house, so I don't even have to visit the supermarket for anything. This cookbook has everything from breakfasts to breads to desserts, and even condiments that you can make without using the slow cooker.

I find myself using a slow cooker more often in the colder months, and I'm really looking forward to making so many of the recipes in this book. As a picky eater, I don't find myself getting this excited often, and generally pick and choose, but the vast majority of the recipes are incredibly appealing. If you're vegan, or even if you aren't and want to incorporate more vegetables, eat healthier, or add a few more plant-based recipes into your diet, this book absolutely fits the bill.

4 stars

I was given a pdf to read which was Ok but I missed pictures that I think would have enhanced the experience. Often with cooking books I've made a recipe because the picture looks enticing.. A lot of the recipes looked easy to put together and I have noted quite a few to try. I'm not Vegetarian but was interested in including some bean and barley into my diet. If the soups and stews I've noted are a success I'll look out for the hardback!

Many thanks for the opportunity to review this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
