I really loved this first book in a new to my series and author. I can't wait to read the next one. The characters and location really add to the plot. This book keeps you guessing until the end.

Fun, summery setting, which you don't always see in cozies, and quirky characters. Good escapist read with a satisfying mystery.

One of the reasons I've always enjoyed the Agatha Raisin mysteries is because she's not completely likable, but there's enough in her to make her sympathetic to the reader. Carrie Doyle has created another wonderful, flawed main character, Plum Lockhart. She's annoying, she's oblivious and self centered, and when the book opens with her getting fired, the reader thinks "yup, she served that." The only job Plum can find is on a gorgeous tropical island, but she's so determined to spend as little time there as possible that she continues the same behaviors that got her in trouble in New York City, until, that is, a murder happens in a property Plum was responsible for, and suddenly Plum realizes that she has to care and make an effort or she'll lose her job (again) and maybe her life. I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery. Plum herself grows as a character and this reader found herself liking her as the story went on. The setting, Paraiso, is gorgeous, snd reminded me of many places I've traveled in the tropics. Plum's new coworkers are set up perfectly to become integral to future mysteries, and the potential love interest is perfect--adult, no jubilee high school hijinks, and realistic. The pace is fast and maintained steadily throughout the novel, and the writing is mature and flows. I am looking forward to the next set of scrapes that Plum gets herself into.

This is the first in a new series by Carrie Doyle! And I am here for it! First off, I love the puns in her titles! Such a fun addition! In this story, we meet Plum who loses her job and finds herself in a new opportunity on a Caribbean island. Sounds like a dream - until she finds a body. This cozy mystery was full of mystery and laughs. Even though this is a mystery, I laughed out loud a few times. The writing and characters were so good! I can't wait to read more!

I didn’t like the main character at all. She was brusque, rude & selfish. I couldn’t get past her character faults, even though she began to soften about half way through.

The story was formulaic, & I figured out who the killer was way ahead of the end.

Not a great book, in my opinion.

This book was given to me as an ARC by #Netgalley in exchange foe my honest opinion. I thank NetGalley, I’m most appreciative.

It Takes Two to Mango by Carrie Doyle is the first in a new mystery series set in the Caribbean. Disgraced former magazine editor, Plum, trades dreary winter New York City for island living and working at a rental agency. After she goes against her boss's firm instructions not to rent to a bachelor party and one of the guests is murdered she adds sleuthing to her to do list. She works with a local hunky security guard Juan Kevin to unravel the case! Interesting take on the cozy genre and I enjoyed seeing the personal growth Plum underwent.

A good start for a new series, a bit different from the norm as the MC is quite unlikable even if it seems to evolve (to be honest she made me laugh at times).
Great setting, solid mystery that kept me guessing.
I'm curious about the next instalment.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

I REALLY wanted to like this book! The synopsis really peaked my interest. I was looking forward to a cozy that would be perfect for a vacation read. HOWEVER this was not for ME! It is not to say that someone else wouldn't enjoy it. My issue was the main character! she was snobby from the beginning and it kept me from wanting to continue on. I had tried a few times to push past it and I just can't enjoy a cozy with a main character I can't stand. Maybe in the future I will try to pick this up, but for now I will have to DNF. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to receive an ARC.

This was a pretty good start to a new cozy mystery series. I struggled a bit with the main character, who is very obviously meant to be unlikeable in the beginning. I am a big character reader so I didn't really like that aspect. However she does grow throughout the book and some of the more abrasive personality traits ease up a bit. I think this will provide for a lot of character growth over the series. Overall I enjoyed the mystery and the writing and I look forward to seeing where book two takes us.

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. Sure, Plum is not the most likeable character but she's driven and that's something I admire. She also gets better as the book goes on, learning how to slow down and appreciate her surroundings. The mystery was front and center, not bogged down with superfluous details but the setting was still well described. Looking forward to the next one.

Plum Lockhart’s life turns upside down when she is fired from the travel magazine she works for. After failing to land a job at any other New York magazine she decides to leave the cold weather behind and take a job doing something completely different. She packs her bags and heads the the Caribbean Island of Paraiso and begins working as a villa broker.

She soon discovers life in paradise is not always coconuts and sunshine as she struggles to adapt to the slow pace of island life. Between an obnoxious coworker who wants nothing more than to see her fail, and embarrassing herself in front of the head of security detector Juan Kevin, things can't get much worse. But when a member of the bachelor party she rented the villa to ends up dead, Plum convinces the police that it was murder. She has to team up with Juan Kevin to solve the murder and keep her job.

It Takes Two to Mango is the first in a new cozy mystery series By Carrie Doyle. The cover is beautiful and drew me immediately. The author did a great job with the pace and plot of the book and the supporting characters were colorful.

I will be honest it was hard for me to really enjoy the book because I could not connect with the main character. Plum Lockhart would be labeled a high-maintenance woman by many. She is very confident and has a high opinion of her abilities. She is totally unlikeable and very selfish with an abrasive personality.. She is definitely not made for island life and she makes that known throughout the entire book. I understand she is not meant to be liked, and yes, there is a small growth and changes in her personality as the chapters go on. But because her attitude and speech were so nasty and bitter, it was hard for me to root for her.

Thank you, NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC.

I had enjoyed Carrie Doyle's mystery series set in the Hamptons and when I saw she was starting a new series I had to give it a try. Now I have another must read series for my TBR list. Welcome to paradise, Plum Lockhart, you are in for a challenge. She needs a change, to get out of NYC now that her job as editor for a travel magazine has gone poof. Taking a leap she heads for fun, sun and sandy beaches to try her hand at being a villa broker on a Caribbean island. Turns out Paradise is more than tropical nights and exotic drinks with new friends. A killer becomes part of the scene when Plum finds a dead man at Casa Mango. Now there is big time trouble in Paradise and Plum is in the middle of it.
From the start Plum takes some getting used to with her blunt and abrasive style. She knows how to rub people the wrong way. By the middle of the book her demeanor had started to shift and by the end of the book I was putting the next book on my must read list. I came away liking Plum. It was so worth getting to know her by the end.
The setting is so vivid I was transported to the beach with the warmth, the breeze and those fancy drinks at hand. That and the food made me want to pack my bags for a trip to the tropics but please don't include a corpse unless I get to hang out with Plum, Juan Kevin and the rest of the cast as they track down another killer. I'm certain the next puzzle will be as excellent as this one was.
My thanks to the publisher Poisoned Pen Press for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is a great little mystery which lulls you into a false sense of security in the context of a seemingly idyllic sea change. It’s more than the ”cozy” mystery genre, offering lively dialogue and really engaging characters as they take you through a clever and tight plot line.

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗼! 𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲!

Looking for an escape to the Caribbean? Definitely check out this new murder mystery beach read, and don’t forget your sunblock because its a scorcher.

Right off the bat this gave me major Hallmark movie vibes. This is your high maintenance, selfish, snobby boss who everyone hates, who gets a dose of reality when she’s fired and starts to become a better person for it. Plum isn’t the villain in this story she’s the main character but she’s not a very likable one. She’s a high powered editor at a travel magazine in New York until she gets fired. Plum thinks she’s earned it to be waited on hand and foot, she’s overly critical, blunt, and flat out rude. She has no family or friends and has made work her entire life so it’s no wonder she has no one to turn to when she gets fired. Her ego takes a major hit as she starts a new career and life in Paraiso makes her rethink her life’s priorities. Plum is like an onion you have to peel back her layers. She starts to soften up as she works with Juan Kevin the sexy Director of Security to figure out who killed one of the guest. I have to say Plum actually makes a pretty good detective.

My biggest complaint is that I found the dialogue to be stiff. I just don’t know many people who talk the way they do. The storyline and murder mystery element were top notch though and kept me throughly entertained and guessing until the very end. This is a great first book in the Trouble in Paradise! series can’t wait for more.

Loved it! Great start to a new series from established cozy author Carrie Doyle. When Plum Lockhart's cushy job as a magazine travel editor is eliminated, she's got to take the only position available to her - selling resort vacations on a Caribbean island. When one of her renters winds up dead, she's must investigate (along with the hunky resort detective!) to find out whodunit, all while dealing with the slow pace of island life, and a very obnoxious co-worker! I am really looking forward to the next Trouble in Paradise mystery!!!

Fun read that transports the reader for a couple of hours into a well plotted mystery. It made me smile and I lost myself from the stress of moving. Will look for more in the series.
