Jukebox is gorgeous! The cover, the illustrations, the colors, and the musical choices all contribute to an aesthetically pleasing and meaningful treat for the eyes, ears and heart. The time travel that comes from the jukebox is adventurous and suspenseful. I also love the dialogue between characters. A graphic novel that will definitely be purchased.

Fun, musical and magical! When Shaheen's father mysteriously disappears, she gets her cousin to help her find him. A used record shop and a magical time traveling jukebox aid them in their quest. Bright, colorful illustrations aid the story. I was excited to see a new graphic novel from this author. I think fans of the Smile series will enjoy.

Oh I love this one!
I like the mix of purple and blue color as the main color tone.
It also brings me back the not-so-many-years-ago memory.

Jukebox is a charming graphic novel about a girl's relationship with her father told through the story of a magical jukebox. After her dad disappears, Shaheen takes her cousin along with her on a journey through time and music to find him. A love and appreciation for music, especially that tied to social justice movements, shines through in the story. You'll want to listen to the curated playlist at the end of the book after reading -- I know I did! The art is so much fun too. It's a joy to see two young Muslim-American girls in such a wonderful graphic novel.

I loved how the author mentioned her connection with the jukebox and where her first ideas started from.

This was the cutest graphic novel that I have read!! First, the pictures and colors allowed you to be right in the middle of the story. A girls dad mysteriously disappears. Can her and her cousin try to find him? Once they figure out how to go back in time using the jukebox and all.of her fathers favorite records, can they find him.or get lost in enjoying the music? To being able to be in front of James Brown at a concert. To be at a women's March at the time a record was being layer. This book doesnt come out until June 2021 but I would recommend it to anyone. Also a good read with your middle.schooler.

A really sweet adventure about a magical jukebox and a girl's search for her father. I was originally drawn in by the prospect of a South Asian protagonist and was really happy with the representation.
I would definitely buy this for any young person. The book sets up some great opportunities to explore historic events and the way music has influenced history.

Part mystery, part fantasy, and part history lesson, Jukebox features two young girls who travel through time via a magic jukebox in search of a lost family member. The plot moved too slowly to my tastes, mostly due to continual reflections on the part of the main character regarding her unresolved conflict with her father and his obsession with music history. The art work could have been sharper as well,.

I can’t express how much I adore this artwork. The characters are full of so much energy and enthusiasm, you want to join in the time travel fun. The story line is very unique as you follow the cousins on their adventure with the wild jukebox.

From the award-winning author/artist of Pashmina comes a new tale of two cousins who use music to time-travel!

When 12-year old Shahi's music-obsessed father doesn't come home one night, she and her older cousin, Naz, go to the record shop he frequents in hopes of finding him. They find the shop mysteriously closed, as the owner also hasn't been seen that day. The girls sneak inside and explore, and find a strange jukebox. When they put in an album and plug in the jukebox, they find themselves thrown back in time. Can they learn how to use the jukebox and find Shahi's dad?

With an awe-inspiring ability to bend time and reality, Chanani brings history and music to life on the pages. Each record transports the girls back to the year that the album debuted, giving readers snippets of important moments in American history as well as learn information about the artists who created the albums.

Truly a delight for readers of all ages, and one of the most anticipated graphic novels of 2021!
