Although I've followed Gretchen Saffles and her online ministry for years, this is the first time I've actually read any of her writings. She says she "wrote this book for every woman who wants more of Jesus in her everyday life but struggles to live out this desire." I've been that woman in many seasons of my life, and this book was refreshing and challenging. I enjoyed the gardening illustrations woven throughout the book, and felt the author's writing was strongest while drawing on this imagery. Saffles covers a range of topics throughout the book- from trials and suffering, to misplaced identity, discontentment, and distracted living in our social media saturated world. With such a wide scope, I feel nearly everyone who reads this will find something they identify with and will walk away with some encouragement.

This book contains many helpful reminders of things we already know we should be doing. I found a few of them specifically useful in spurring me on to do better! Overall, I felt like this book wasn't anything earth shattering but again it's because we mostly know we should be doing these things and need a good reminder.
