This beautiful love story with a not so happily ever after ending is one of the best love stories I've ever read! From the perspective of a husband who had to say goodbye to his wife much earlier than he ever dreamed he would have to, my heart was immediately drawn into his story. As he reflects on his brief marriage to the love of his life and mother of his 4 daughters, my understanding of the grief journey has been broadened. With very real and honest emotions and recollections of how he made it through the early days of learning how to live life without his wife, I was very challenged by the strength of his faith and his confidence that the same God who gifted him with his wife would carry him through his new life without her.
I particularly appreciated how he so frequently shared that although his story is heart breaking, sad, and just plain hard, he also frequently recalled how God had used the people around him to encourage him and help keep his eyes upward. He also frequently shared that though his wife's life was tragically cut short, it was not in vain because she lived such an intentional life, with open hands, allowing herself to be used by God in whatever way He wanted to use her for His glory.
Along with that, the overarching theme of this book is that even when we can't feel it or easily see it, God is still good and faithful! One of my favorite quotes was "The pain of loss is understandable, but our loss is not the end of the story.", reminding us that we have hope in what is to come when we leave this earth, when we will meet our Savior face to face just as his precious wife already has.

This is an heart-touching, beautifully-written tribute by the author to his late wife, Wynter. Jonathan Pitts allows us into his emotional and spiritual journey as he faces the reality of the sudden, unexpected death of his beloved wife. Even though he experienced the shock, grief, and sadness of the reality of her death, his spiritual anchor of steadfast faith in God held strong, He was an example to all who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The author shared the scriptures and songs that comforted him during the early days of his journey through grief and loss. Although there’s understandably a shadow of sadness as you read this book, there’s also an overriding theme of “Victory in Jesus”. This book will be a help, comfort, and encouragement to many who are experiencing grief, or who need to learn how to be a comfort and encouragement to someone else.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

My Wynter Season is lovely tribute to author Jonathan Pitts' wife Wynter and her legacy. Mr. Pitts describes his life with his wife and their four daughters and what they all went through when Wynter went to Heaven The Author writes gut-wrenchingly the truth, the ups and downs, and what God has taught him through his continuing grief journey. Through out the book, you feel his family's pain, but the reader is assured that there is Hope in the midst of the pain because God is walking and holding them through the process. The book is a wonderful Testimony to God's Goodness and Faithfulness. I am keeping the entire Pitts and Evans family in my prayers. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this wonderful book! I highly recommend this book to everyone! (This review is also on GoodReads.)

This is a brave, personal walk through grief. A young husband and father loses his wife and clings to Jesus as he lives continuing to give God the glory through it all! Simply beautiful; a story to certainly share with others

Although I hadn't heard of her before her untimely death, this story resonates with me. Jonathan and Wynter Pitts were raising their children and having a Godly, purposeful life together until late one day, Wynter passes at the age of 38. Jonathan is now a single father, trying to navigate life with out his wife and raising their four daughters with out their mother. Mr. Pitts, through out his grief, reminds us that God is still with us, no matter what life or circumstances throw our way. One thing that stood out to me in this book was to remind me that we should live life purposefully, and fulfill God's purpose, so when it's time to depart, you're empty and have fulfilled your life's purpose

Grief is not something we generally like to think about, its inevitability as a part of life makes us too uncomfortable. This book was very timely for me, having just experienced a major, unexpected bereavement myself. But even if this were not so, it helps to be prepared for such a thing. ‘My Winter Season’ brings home the importance of setting up strong relationships & support systems before anything untoward happens. Besides the story itself, many pearls of wisdom are included such as “emotions...can be the thermometer.., but..faith should be the thermostat”. And a real gem : “Faith is simply acting like God is telling the truth”! I found this book best to be read in small doses, giving time to absorb the depths of emotion : it is well worth the time.

I met Wynter Pitts once and she was just as lovely and grace-filled as her husband describes her to be. Their story is heart-wrenching and through it all, God is glorified. I cried as I read. This is a beautiful story of loss, and ultimately, of hope.

This book is well worth reading. It tells of the tragic death of Jonathan's wife Wynter. Although, as you read the story, the message of hope comes through. The book shares the honesty of grief and many of the challenges it brings. It also describes a hope that Wynter had with her Saviour and the hope the family have, knowing they will see her again. It was quick and easy to read, although it contains so many parts that you could and would want to reread again and again.

I had first learnt of Wynter through her 'sister cousin' Crystal Evans Hurst and Priscilla Shirer, I have also watched Wynter's daughter act in the brilliant film The War Room. I remember following her on social media and then hearing of her death. Wynter's thanksgiving service was streamed worldwide. As I watched it, the celebration of her life was evident

This book shows the other raw side to events before and after that service and the realness of how everyone processes grief differently.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book - I always give an honest review of any book I have read. I would happily purchase this book or buy for a friend.

Jonathan, talks about the heartbreaking death of his wife Wynter and how he is managing as he continues his journey thru life.

Wynter was author who died all too soon at the age of 38. Wynter leaves behind her loving husband and 4 beautiful daughters. Jonathan is having such a hard time dealing with his grief but he is managing rather well.
Jonathan’s faith gets stronger with each passing day. He has God and his 4 daughters, family and friends to help him along the way. It’s not often that you find a man who bares his deepest feelings. We are often led to believe that men are so strong but they also need comfort and cry not only in the dark but daylight also.

My heart went out to Jonathan as he talks about how he’s able to get thru everything after the death of his.
This was a great story; I would recommend it to anyone who has lost a significant other / spouse.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC, I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a very sad, but necessary story to tell the fellow believer. The author's grief was very powerful, heart wrenching,; but with the help of his family and God he made it. through grace and shone through to the other side. Excellent book.

A thought-provoking book, touching on the brevity of this life, and the Christian perspective of grief from real-life experience. A brilliant work, and a must-read for all those going through loss and questioning God's goodness through the storm.

Don't we all need a little help walking through grief. This is the loving story of the death of Wynter, his wife, and his walk through his grief. I think this book would be of help to those grieving the loss of a spouse. I found the writing to be a bit confused. Thanks to Harvest House Publishers and Netgalley for the ARC.

Amazingly written!! I had a hard time putting down this book. Being thoroughly involved in my own grief story, I kept picking and putting it up/down depending on the emotional space in my life. But, I am very thankful I kept binge reading as I began to process my own grief. It was definitely a comfort to me.

My Wynter Season tells the tragic story of Wynter Pitts' death, but also celebrates the triumph of her entry to heaven. Wynter was a Christian author and blogger, who died suddenly at age 38, leaving behind her husband Jonathan and four daughters. This book is the honest account of Jonathan's grief, and how he leaned on God through the most difficult days of his life. I appreciated how honest he was about his feelings and experiences, and was encouraged by his strong faith in the face of adversity. Jonathan was not afraid to accept help from those he loved, and to have tough conversations with his daughters. My heart broke for him, while I also was inspired by his relationship with God. The only thing that I would change about this book is to put the events in chronological order. It often seemed to jump around, and recount memories in a random order. Despite that, it was a powerful read, and would be encouraging for someone who is walking through grief to read.

This was such a beautiful and emotional book. This a story about Jonathan and how he went on after losing the love of his life, his best friend, his wife, Wynter. And, especially, it is about how he clung to God during these hardships. It's exemplary how he put his faith in God and how He gave Jonathan the peace, wisdom and willingness to go on.
I like how open and real Jonathan is about his feelings and struggles. It's not easy to be vulnerable, and he showed that. I think that's really kind so people that are going through the same can relate to him.
I got to know Wynter through his words, and I wish I'd have met her. She was a remarkable woman. Her example makes me want to be a better prayer and seek God's presence deeper.

A touching story that will, I believe, be relatable and comforting to those who have lost a spouse. From a writing standpoint, I just can't give it more than 3 stars because the writing is poor, the structure needs a lot of work, the author overexploits who every single person is several times, and it needed a better editor (or ghostwriter).

My Wynter Season is a blessing wrapped in a book cover. A heartbreaking story of love, loss and family. In the first chapter I was already in tears, feeling the pain and love the author had for his wife and best friend.
Jonathan Pitts invites us into his marriage that God had brought together. From the moment they met to the loss he faced and the strength God gave him to continue on. Emotional but inspiring, it’s a book I couldn’t put down. It touched my heart, reminding me how precious our time here on earth is, but also, how good our God is. This books is a reminder to live with intention, to live for the purposes God has for us, and to show love to those around us. It makes me think about the legacy I will leave behind, the people God has blessed me with, and the home with God that waits for me.
Jonathan Pitts writes of the struggle and pain of his loss, but also the strength God has given him and the blessings he sees through it all. This is a reminder of how God is always there, supplying every need we have and in every aspect.
If you have gone through loss or other dark storms in life, this book will open your eyes to remembering that God is still here and working.

A beautiful, heartbreaking yet uplifting story of losing the person who made you whole and recovering from that loss through God's grace and love. It was a wonderful story and I left feeling inspired and reflective.

Received this to my Kindle from Net Galley for the purpose of review.

This is a true story of a man who married the wife of his dreams and watched as God used her to reach many and to bring glory to God every day. Not a perfect woman but a humble and joyful woman.

Wynter Pitts was such a powerful Godly woman. She had grown up in a turbulent home, but God, brought out of that circumstance and into a world she could have only dreamed about. She came face to face with God through her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. She loved him totally and became a "YES GOD" kind of girl.

I will not continue because I will ruin it for you. Be sure you obtain this book. It is inspiring and relatable and just what you may need for today.

Share it with others and they will be happy you did.
