The weather is cold and the outlook on saving the farm from rezoning is bleak. That won't stop Angie Turner, part owner at the County Seat restaurant, from getting things accomplished including a little sleuthing. An array of characters make their way into this latest Farm to Fork Mystery from a missing daughter, ladies who yoga (instead of the ladies who lunch), land developers, an unidentified murder victim, and a shifty ex-husband. The County Seat family gets busy not only with food prep and dinner service but also with helping Nancy, one of the cooks to protect her family. She isn't the only one who seems to need protecting, as Ian does his best body guard impression and sticks to Angie like gum on a shoe to keep her safe. Funny thing is she still manages to find trouble, but at least she keeps everyone apprised of her sleuthing. This series definitely shows illustrates that sometimes the family you choose is the best family of all. There isn't much that this crowd won't do for each other and I like the subtle faith references, not something you see much these days in most fiction. I also appreciate the various food dishes that are mentioned and look forward to making the Quick Cookies recipe found at the conclusion of the story!

4.5 stars

This is the fifth book in the Farm-to-Fork mystery series by Lynn Cahoon.

This book was a good balance of character conflict worrying about day to day things and trying to find time to delve into the mystery. In the beginning I wasn’t sure if this series was for me but Cahoon has made me fall in love with any character she creates.

Angie was worried about losing her family home to the whims of a soybean company who wanted to buy up a lot of the houses around where she lived. When the lawyer who is heading up the development finds his wife missing, Angie is called in to investigate.

There was a lot of back and forth in this story which keeps the reader interested and on their toes looking for what might happen next. Definitely a fun read. I can’t recommend this author highly enough. She is on my must read list for sure!

If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Angie is back and is still fighting to save her Nona’s farm from the corporate buyout. But trouble seems to be surrounding her. Nancy’s ex shows up on the scene to cause trouble. Barb’s daughter who was raised by Barb’s sister is missing. And an unknown girl is found dead near the park. Fortunately, the restaurant family is fighting together to solve these issues.

I love the characters in this book. And the story which involves many mysteries not all being murder. I look forward to the next in this series.

Killer Comfort Food by Lynn Cahoon is book five in the A Farm to Fork Mystery series. I have read all of this series. This installment did not disappoint.
This easy to read Cozy has a couple of different mysteries but they all come together in the end. It has plot twists to keep you guessing to the end. The main characters are likeable, as are the secondary ones, You get romance and humor. I love the protagonist's "pet" farm animals and her dog, Dom. I also enjoyed reading about all of the dishes being developed.
If you enjoy a foodie cozy, this book is for you..
I was given an ARC by Kensington via NetGalley for an honest review.

I love being able to return to River Vista. I really enjoy this series and am always excited when a new book is coming. The staff at the County Seat and Angie and Ian are all fun to read about. The characters and the writing are strong. There are always points of fun and joy, along with more serious things in the plot and this keeps the stories relatable. The budding love and fun interactions are exciting and enjoyable. I do believe that the author is very tame with the relationship development of Angie and Ian, but not so much with Felicia and Estebe.

That all said, I found this book to be a little off as there was no actual murder and I do not understand the use of comfort food in the title...or perhaps the connection was so subtle that I missed it all together. Also, this book was a mystery, inside of a mystery, inside of a mystery, There was a lot going on. If you are interested in reading this book, and you are new to the series, this installment could be a challenge to jump into and you may want to start from the beginning. Either way, you will not be disappointed. I am a real fan!

Even though I have only read two other books in Lynn Cahoon's Farm-to-Fork Mystery series set in a restaurant, 'The County Seat' in Idaho, I still jumped at the opportunity to read this one, Killer Comfort Food as I enjoy a well written cosy, and this looked like it fitted the bill.

Angie Turner runs her own restaurant alongside her best friend, Felicia. In this story, Angie has a few problems when she learns that a soybean processing company, Taylor Farms, plans to buy the land surrounding the farm. If she sells, she will lose the farmhouse her nana bequeathed to her, but if she doesn't she will be surrounded by the plant and everything else that comes with it. When Susan Ashley, the wife of the solicitor in charge of development goes missing, Angie is called upon to delve into the disappearance...

Although there is some character building in these stories I had no difficulties keeping up with characters and events, and this book can be enjoyed as an individual instalment. The plot was fun and lively and Mabel, Precious, and Dom, Angie's hen, goat and St Bernard dog have really won my heart. A compelling tale, there was a very strong family theme running throughout, together with a heavy focus on other relationships and friendships. Events moved along at a comfortable pace and the mystery itself was fantastic with the ending turning out to be something of a surprise. I had a blast reading this highly amusing and entertaining cozy mystery and I'm already looking forward to catching up with Angie and her cohorts in book #5.5, A Pumpkin Spice Killing, as well as grabbing copies of the books I've missed.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Kensington Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

A trip back to small town Idaho outside Boise is always a great time to enjoy visiting with the County Seat Restaurant staff and their farm to fork cuisine. Angie Turner and her gang are a like a family and watch each other's back. In this story, someone is trying to buy up land to build a soybean processing plant and this includes Angie's farm passed down from her Nona. Because she is not interested, it seems to be sparking retaliation from someone involved. Angie is not the only one who is having trouble. Her chef Nancy is revisited by her ex and his new wife one night at the restaurant and scare tactics begin. Barb from the Red Eye Saloon next door wants Angie to find her daughter that she gave up to her sister when she was born, thinking she was not a great candidate for mother. Now that daughter is missing and her husband is an attorney representing the soybean plant, until he is put on leave. Are these events connected and if so, how? It is another time for investigating some strange events going on. Thankfully, Angie has her boyfriend, Ian, along with her restaurant family as they take care of each other. This is another great read in the series with some yummy sounding food too.
I received a complimentary ARC from Kensington Publishing through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

Welcome to River Vista, the home of the Farm to Fork series #5. There are 3 mysteries happening in this book that all come together at the end. This author is one of my favorites and it's always a pleasure to get to read one of her books. The story is well written and the characters are mostly enjoyable, I'm not a big fan of Angie and Ian, I do love Felicia and Estebe. This is a cozy that moves at a fast pace and will make you hungry with all the food that's in this book.

Angie has plenty to worry about: developing recipes, her cookbook project, and her farm-to-fork restaurant. Now she has an added worry: a soybean plant that wants to buyout her property...and they don't seem to want to take no for an answer. There seems to be lots of shady things happening with the project...including the disappearance of the wife of the lawyer who is handling the buyouts.
When Angie is asked to look into the woman's disappearance, she's not sure what she'll find. Did she leave of her on freewill or was she taken? If so, will Angie be in time to save the woman? Or is it already too late?

I love this series so hard! Angie and her crew are fun and sassy and seem like friends you can really count on. I wish her restaurant were real, I'd love to visit.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.

Angie Turner is busy with her restaurant, The County Seat, a farm to fork restaurant in Idaho. Angie Turner is worried about losing her home to the new soybean plant project plus she's been ask by Barb Travis to try and locate her daughter Susan Ashley. Its Susan's husband Jon who is in charge of the soybean project until he's let go .Is it because of his wife's disappearance or something much deeper? The more Angie digs into Susan's disappearance the more she learns and it's not all goof.Is she in danger ? Is Susan dead? And what does the soybean project have to do with it all ? Lots of clues and suspects but no real answers. All Angie can do is hope for a good outcome.

I am loving this series. Angie has a love for food, animals, family and friends. I can so relate to her, only I can’t cook like her. Join her, Ian, Felicia, and Estebe as they run The County Seat, take care of their family, and help Sheriff Brown solve some interesting cases. I loved the story line and these characters are wonderful. I cannot wait to visit with them again!! I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

A soybean processing plant is buying up land near Angie's farm, and they want her land as well. Angie doesn't know what to do. She doesn't want to sell, but knows a sale can be forced if it means jobs can be brought in to the area. Things get even more complicated when Barbara asks for Angie's help in finding her missing daughter. The daughter is married to the lawyer trying to get Angie to sell her land. Plus one of her chefs at her restaurant is the ex-wife of one of the men involved in the plant. Enjoyed the plot and I found the characters interesting.

I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the fifth in the series. I really liked this installment. The many subplots made it interesting.
I liked the concern over Bleak, Maggie Brown is concerned and seeks Angie’s advice. This strengthens their relationship.
The small family at the County Seat is invested in keeping Nancy Gowan safe emotionally and financially.
On top of that, there is a body found in the park, another missing woman, Nancy’s ex-husband returns to town with a new wife in tow, and the bar owner has health issues, and the soybean processing plant trying to buy the area where Angie lives.

There is also a surprise at the end of the book.

Keep this series going. It’s a shame I’ll have to wait for the next installment to be written. I enjoy the strong characters and their diversity, the solid writing and the well-crafted stories to propel the series. I look forward to visiting with Angie, Felicia, and Estebe in the next book.

I was given an advanced copy by Netgalley. I am not required to leave a positive review.
