I received a complimentary copy of Water's Edge in exchange for an honest review. The story had great potential, but unfortunately the dialogue and writing style were painful. I struggled throughout the book trying to determine who was saying what. I felt like there should have been deeper dialogue between Jack and Claudia.
Several themes were awkwardly introduced and seemed to be artificially introduced. Several of the scenes were unique but it wasn't enough to compensate for the writing style. I finished the book with reservations.

Unfortunately did not finish at chapter 2. The lack of quotation marks was weird, the characters blocky and robotic, and the first sex scene was quick. The scene was barely a scene at all and the dialogue during was ridiculous.

Warning, this book is intended to be an erotic novel. It is advised that no persons under the age of 18 reads this book. The content of the story is very graphic with some strong language. Some readers might be offended by the nature of the book.

I’m not sure how I feel about this book. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the story itself, I just found that the characters had a very personal relationship where they relied for emotional support and trusted each other, but they spoke to each other in a rather impersonal and formal manner. I think in situations that were very intimate, it made me feel a little uncomfortable- especially when Claudia is trying new things for the first time.

At times I struggled to distinguish which character was talking, however I think as you grow through the story, you get accustomed to the language that the two main character use to converse with each other.

I think the character growth is really important in this book. Claudia discovers herself sexually, yet it doesn’t come across as her as a character being naive or any less important than Jack.

I think this genre has its many issues with great, in- depth writing. I think that because it’s largely about the sex, authors forget to write about the relationship and the character development. In my opinion Morton did this really well.

For me, it’s a one time read. I enjoyed it, but I’m not likely to revisit it.

Thank you to Martin Morton and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review this book in exchange for my honest review.

Jack and Claudia have a wonderful business relationship but when he is offered a job in Singapore, they cross they line into an intense affair. Neither happy in their relationships they begin to explore their sexual desires with others and share the experience with other. Fast-paced, sizzling read with loads of emotion, drama and steam. Great characters with lots of depth and an entertaining story. I liked it.

I had loved Careless Hours, the third book in the series, and that made me want to go back to the beginning and learn more about the characters. I thought this was a superb story. It took me round the world in the company of what felt like real people in real situations, and if the sex scenes seemed a little over the top sometimes, well, that was entertaining too.
