Though I didn't realize that this book was a part of a series, I had no problem following along. Cozy mysteries are my jam! I don't think I've read one yet that I didn't thoroughly enjoy! I always love how a regular Joe Shmo takes on a sudden role of being a detective and Suzanne was one of my favorites! This was a fun and entertaining cozy mystery and I will be going back and reading the others in this series.

Some people just seem to be magnets for trouble; wherever they go, chaos and danger follow. And in Egg Shooters, the ninth Cackleberry Club Mystery by author Laura Childs, it seems that the characters not only attract chaos in their small town; they cause plenty of it, too...

This is an amazing cozy mystery!

I love the main characters in this book. Suzanne and her two friends who own the Cackleberry Club Cafe can’t be more different from each other. They have truly figured out how to work together running their business though.

The plot of the mystery is fantastic. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing and confused.

The narrator does a fabulous job! She is a wonderful voice actress and has a wide variety of voices and accents for each of the various characters. She really made the story come to life.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

I received this audio book from #NetGalley and the publisher, #DreamscapeMedia. Gotta say I loved it! Of course, I'm a sucker for the cozy mysteries of the world. I liked the characters even though I haven't read more of the books in the series, yet. After I do, I'm sure I will grow to love the quirky characters.
The writing is engaging and the audio reader is brilliant! The story is fast paced with mysteries left and right. Awesome read!!

I received this audiobook ARC from NetGalley. Egg Shooters by Laura Child is the first book of hers I have read. Suzanne owns the Cackleberry Club and is engaged to Dr Sam. While going to see him at the hospital she finds herself smack in the middle of an armed assault. Can Suzanne solve this crime before anyone else is hurt?

This is the first in the 9th in the Cackleberry Club series. That being said I was able to catch up and not feel at all that I had missed out on anything. In fact I forgot I was not listening to the first in the series. Suzanne is in the midst of a robbery/murder in the hospital her fiancé Seth works at as a doctor. The story focuses on her she helps the local police track down the killer. I enjoyed this book and the narrator did a great job with the various voices, but I am not interested in staying with the series. Maybe I have now read too many cozies, so this is just me getting a bit over the cozies, but if you are still loving them, give this book a try. I am giving this a 3.5 star rounded down to 3.

This has been my favorite of he series so far, but Suzanne was far too judgmental and a little winny in this one for my liking. Good story telling though and focused on a real life problem.

You know how you wish some of your favorite books would be made into a movie?
For the Cackleberry Club I want a whole television series!

I love the characters. Toni would be so much fun to watch weekly.
The settings are comfy with a touch of glamour, especially the food.
And the action never stops!
Suzanne is intelligent and curious, observant and generous. She can not help herself from getting involved, whether in community events or dangerous investigations.
And she can not stop her brain from running through endless possibilities. I enjoyed being privy to those runaway thoughts.

The book opens plunging us immediately into action and tragedy. The mysteries compound quickly, with hijackings, murder, drug related crimes and mysterious disappearance among them.
Suspects are found on every page! When you think you have something figured out, you will begin to doubt your choices as more evidence comes to light.

I hope we do not have to wait long to revisit Kindred.

This was my first ever cozy mystery. Egg Shooters by Laura Childs is book 9 in the Cackleberry Club series. This whodunit started out with a bang right from the get go. There was a robbery and a murder right at the start. The main character Susan Dietz helps investigate the town’s crimes whether or not law enforcement want her help. She sometimes gets herself and her sidekick into some sticky predicaments, but finds a creative way out of them. This story has many twists and turns as to who was committing the crimes and will keep you guessing until the killer is revealed. It also makes mention of PTSD and drug addiction. Overall, this was a nice, quick read that kept my interest throughout the story.

I received an audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. These opinions are my own.

I wasn’t crazy about this book. It’s ok. The story and plot line were good but I just wasn’t crazy about the characters. I did like Billy though. But I found the story dragging and just didn’t move as fast as I felt it should. It should have been stronger on the in between action. Others might like it though. This is a good author. It’s the first I’ve read in this series though. I will still try her others. Sometimes one book doesn’t mean you won’t like others in a series. I listened to the audiobook I received from NetGalley. Thank you to them along with Berkeley, Dreamscape Audio and the author.

Great cozy mysteries series. Love the Cackleberry Club and the trouble they find themselves in. The narrator of this series is good, too.

Suzanne Dietz decides that she's going to take a thermos of chili to her fiancé Dr. Sam Hazelet at the hospital, however, no good deed goes unpunished because while waiting to make her delivery she is a witness to a masked gunman killing the security guard and wounding a nurse. The only thing she can think to do to protect herself is to throw the thermos full of chili at the gunman. The gunman escapes, and Suzanne is labeled a hero. But she believes that the security guard was the hero and is determined to everything she can to find the killer.

The story was very well-written and the characters continue to grow. It was so much fun to be able to hear them in this audio version. The story really came to life. The narration was excellent!

Egg Shooters by Laura Childs is the 9th book in the Cackleberry Club, and I enjoyed it. I have enjoyed Ms. Childs' Tea Shop Mysteries for years, but had not read this series yet. I believe I would have enjoyed this book more if I have read the previous books, but I kept up pretty well. Suzanne Dietz, co-owner of the Cackleberry Club Cafe takes dinner to her doctor fiance, when the hospital is robbed, and the guard is murdered. Suzanne and the other two owners of Cakleberry are on the case. The three women who own the cafe are so different, but each delightful in their own way. I highly recommend this book to cozy mystery lovers. I am going to read book one next and catch up on this series. I enjoy the narrator, her voice was pleasant and easy to listen to.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Egg Shooters by Laura Childs is a great cozy, culinary listen. I loved how the author wrote a cozy mystery with mouth-watering culinary imagery and endearing characters. The storyline is fast moving and has great descriptions. I could envision so many details. Susan Boyce was fantastic at bringing the characters to life with her voice. I could easily hear who was speaking. #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia thank you for letting me have a review copy of the audiobook. I found it to be a wonderful standalone listen and part of a series.

I must confess I am a lover of Laura Child’s cozy mysteries and this one did not disappoint. The audiobook way well read with enough differentiation in the voices to be pleasant without being annoying and as always Ms. Child’s characters were entertaining and enjoyable. I am one who likes to try and figure out “who-done-it” before the end and this one kept me guessing! If you enjoy small-town cozies, this one is a keeper!

This is a book that's part of a series, set in a small midwestern town restaurant. One of the owners, Suzanne, is witness to a gunman robbing the hospital pharmacy and killing a security guard. She gets involved in solving the case, along with her two colleagues at the restaurant. She seems to be, unlike many cozy heroines, fully approved to do so by the town sheriff, which seems a bit odd. This series is supposed to appeal to those who like food, as well as those who are interested in cozy mysteries. However, I found parts of it to be a bit far-fetched and the characters were not all that interesting, rather stereotypical.

I really liked the beginning of this new book in the Cackleberry Club series as it pulled you right into the action that happens when Suzanne is at the hospital delivering a meal to her fiance and encounters a masked gunman. The actions starts quickly with two shootings one of which is fatal. This is the first time I have listened to an audio book from this series and I have to say it changes the feel of the story for me. The characters seemed less diverse when I read this series but listening to it magnified the character traits from the three main characters Suzanne, The character development at the end of the story in the at risk youth was heart warming as was Suzanne's change in feeling toward him. This was an enjoyable audio book.

It has been a few years since the last Cackleberry Club story, but these ladies were as fun and fresh as always. This is the ninth book in the series and even though each mystery is self-contained, you will enjoy this story more if you are familiar with the characters and the journey they have taken together. Egg Shooters starts off with a bang literally, with the shooting at the hospital. He kills the security guard and shoots the receptionist, before Suzanne throws a thermos of chili at him and he takes off. Suzanne chases him, but he has disappeared. Where did he go? It seems like he was robbing the pharmacy and a nurse in that area is also injured. The wife of the victim has asked Suzanne to help solve the crime, so what can she do?

This series has a great cast of characters led by a main character that is intelligent, witty and a strong female protagonist. Suzanne and Toni get into several scrapes while Petra cooks up a storm in the kitchen for the Cackleberry Cafe. I love Sheriff Dougie. I love his "southernisms" and his laid back personality, even though he is pretty smart. The setting is wonderful and I love the quirky town and secondary characters. This story was face paced and well-plotted. Suzanne had some great intuition in this one as she put together motives and suspects. Suzanne's investigation in this one was a bit different from others in this series, as there was a lot of turmoil and emotional distress caused by her questioning and accusations. Once again, there is danger and Suzanne takes some chances that were ill advised, but she comes through unscathed. There are a few side stories in this one, but they all come together in the end with the exciting reveal. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Susan Boyce, a voice actress who narrates a lot of cozy mysteries. She is a narrator who I listen to quite a bit. She does a great job on the voices and expression in the story. She makes books I listen to very enjoyable. I enjoyed this one and recommend this series to those who enjoy cozy mysteries.
