Beautiful pictures and lay out - a lot of information organized well! If you happened to get both books they share a lot of the same information - wish that they would have made different books rather than organize the information differently

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. I love reading books like this so much. Very informative! I am all about natural healing remedies, so I will be going back to this book again and again in the future!

Medicinal Herbs for Family Health & Wellness by JJ Pursell contains a wealth of information about herbal supplements and preparations. The book provides a pretty comprehensive resource regarding types of preparations (capsules, essential oil blend, teas, salves, sprays, etc.), uses, and basis dosages for adults. It also provided recipes for various ailments from cold sores to sunburns. Great resource for someone who is interested in herbal medicine. #MedicinalHerbsforFamilyHealthandWellness #NetGalley

It's a nice book with lots of informations about medicinal herbs and there are recipes at the end for all common illness like cold, diarrhea, fever and others. The ingredients for the recipes look hard to get. They use a lot of essences, oils and herbs. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

Medicinal Herbs for Family Health and Wellness: 123 Trusted Recipes for Common Concerns, From Allergies & Asthma to Sunburns & Toothaches by JJ Pursell is a great reference for keeping the family healthy using herbal medicine. The same author wrote Medicinal Herbs for Immune Defense.

The book is laid out much the same as the immune defense book with a thorough layout of the types of preparations in the beginning of the book along with dosages for adults. There is a section at the back dedicated to babies and children. In the middle of the book is all the info you need of the medicinal herbs used in the book, as well as the recipes.

These recipes are less preventative, and more useful for things that are happening now and what you can apply to remedy it, such as a kitchen burn, a bug bite or insomnia.

I think my favorite section was the "Bad Dreams & Scary Things" section, providing recipes for a soothing Monster-Rid Sachet and a No-Monsters-Allowed Spray. Her monster-away spray suggested using relaxing oils, which is such a wonderful idea after an upsetting day. Loved that section.

Overall, another great book on herbal medicine by this author for anyone interested, beginners or advanced, in preparing herbal wellness preparations at home.

This book was reviews on my garden blog.

A very complete guide for all the family's little health problem herbal recipes by a herborist. I really liked how the book was divided first into the type of ways the herbs can be used, ie capsules, tea, poultice, salves, oils... Then we have a long list of plants and their properties. I am a rather rational person, so I had mixed feelings for that section which mixed together physical effects, like liver cleanser, with emotional ones, like keeping someone always in the clouds grounded. This whole first section is the same as what you find in the "Medicinal Herbs for Immune Defense: 104 Trusted Recipes for Fighting Colds, Flus, Fevers, and More" book by the same author.

And then we get the recipes in function of the symptoms ranging from colds to asthma, constipation and the likes. They usually take quite a lot of different herbs and an elaborate process, so be prepared to be very dedicated. I think a home "cook" would have trouble to have at hand all the needed ingredients. I think this is for someone who already has a hand in this type of thing.

An excellent resource in every way -- beautiful color photos, informational on all kinds of herbs, simple recipes, helpful advice and more. There is a separate section just for ailments for babies and kids. This is one of the best herbal books I've read in a while (and I read a lot of them). I would like more detailed dosage information for individual herbs, but it's still a great book. Well recommended.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.

First of all I want to make it clear that as a doctor myself, i really wanted to find a complementary method for my patients.
What I liked and respect about this book is the information it provides, it is quite accurate, taking into account that it is a book that ANYONE can read, I also love that it takes the time at the beginning to explain how you can mix the plants and the value of a good diagnosis, in addition to warning what can go wrong when following the recipes in this book without an adequate guide.
the bad: although the ethics used at the beginning caught me, it dissolves for me when it comes to the plants, although there are MANY scientific resourse for the use of medicinal plants, in this book they are based on common beliefs and uses of people and not based on research. Also, it never tells you what it is based on to affirm what it says in the book.
I like the idea, the execution does not, besides that it is dangerous, especially when we talk about minors. I do not care how diluted you want to put it, a baby under 3 months MUST NOT INGEST ANYTHING THAT IS NOT BREAST MILK (OR NOTHING THAT A DOCTOR DOES NOT APPROVE BEFORE).
