This is SO GOOD! This is such a great beginning to a book - the attraction and relationship are set up nicely, there are multiple plot points and history set up with the cooking show and the family dynamics, the friends are lovely, and Reena herself is an intriguing character who seems like she's very capable and has a lot in store for her. I enjoy this modern take on Muslim romance, and on Muslim characters - coming from Trinidad and Tobago where there's a wide variation in how my Muslim friends have met their spouses and how much they stick to religious tenets, I think this would resonate a lot with them. It's also interesting to have the male lead from Tasmania - the Indian and Muslim diaspora extends to so many more countries than are commonly known (like Trinidad and Tobago...) and I enjoyed seeing that represented here. The moment I finished this preview I looked up this book and pre-ordered it, so it did its job! I'm glad that it'll be coming out soon - I can't wait to find out what happens.

This preview was so good! It definitely got me excited for the release of the whole book. I love the concept of the baking show and am very excited to read more of it. Reena seems like a fun main character to be following for this story. I have also enjoyed the peak into her family culture that we have gotten so far as it's quite different from mine and I appreciate being able to read about other people's cultures included in books like this

I absolutely loved this preview and cannot wait to read the full book!!!

I love Reena. There aren't enough women characters who are blunt and to the point. And Nadim is fire!!! I'm so excited!

I really enjoyed the first four chapters of this book and I cannot wait to read the rest of the book. Nadim hasn’t totally won me over yet, but I am enjoying the banter/flirting between him and Reena.

Note to self, do not read this on an empty stomach. Otherwise, be prepared to place an order on instacart and grubhub. I'm preordering this romance for my overseas friends and starting a bookclub.

Seems like a good happy-go-lucky story. The characters are interesting and are well written. The meddling Indian parent scope is also appreciated, they are not written as over bearing parents but just the right amount of meddling. Friends and cousins in the story were quite lively and each had a different type of relationship with the heroine of our story .

The 'facilitated' marriage between the two main characters when neither of them are particularly keen on marriage, would naturally lead to slow transition from stranger to acquaintance to friends to love, when both are trying to make their own way in the world, with the other by their side. Ah swoon. Plus with the added cultural part, is going is going to make this a spicy read. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the book.

Cheers!!

Thank you to Net Galley and Forever for a preview of the first four chapters of Accidentally Engaged. The first chapter got me interested in wanting to read the rest of the book. The banter and tension between Reena and Nadim from their first interaction makes me hope they fall in love. Though Reena is set on not giving into her parents insistence of finding her a suitable partner, it is clear that Reena can't deny her attraction to Nadim and it will only be a matter of time until she falls for him. I also love reading multicultural books with main characters that I can relate with. Culture, food, and family being the center of a story only helps to make it more relatable for myself, being multiracial and sharing these same values in life. I will definitely be purchasing this book once it's published.

You had me at baking bread and British accents. Who hasn’t been baking bread during Quarantine? I know I have which is why this feels special to me. This preview of the first four chapters left me hungry for more. I’ve been looking for a story about that featured South Asians that felt like you could drop anyone into the story. So many books about children of immigrants feel over burdened and while it seems like the main character carries some of that baggage she is independent and has chosen her own path. She’s not struggling to fall in line it just seems she’s going to struggle when maybe this time her parents got it right. It’s come exactly at the right time. These first four chapters quickly laid the ground work for a story I am very excited to finish. March 2nd can’t come soon enough.

I received a 4 chapter preview from NetGalley and I am excited to read the rest of the book!

The book starts with an adorable meet cute and I cannot wait to see what actually happens with that relationship!

Will update my review once I’ve read the whole book.

These first few chapters had me absolutely hooked - I need to read more as soon as I can! Diversity in my romance books is something I am always looking for, plus this book seems to have some of my absolute favorite romance tropes, those being hate-to-love and fake dating. The dynamics between Reena and her family is so engaging and the balance between wanting Reena to feel independent from them, while also rooting for her to get with our male lead despite her family's interest in the relationship is so much fun. The banter is already amazing between Reena and Nadim, and I just can't wait to see where this goes.
Food is also something I love to read about, and I'm already invested in Reena's baking and cooking dreams. I love the food descriptions throughout; also naming her sourdough starters is my favorite thing. This book has quickly become one of my most anticipated of the year!

I was only given access to the preview, but I loved the beginning of it. Great writing and vivid characters. Humorous. I can't wait to read more!

These four chapters made me want to read the novel which I did. The characters are well developed. It wasn’t preachy. The issue of mental illness was handled realistically.

I really enjoyed this start to the book. I think Reena and Nadim have a great dynamic, and I appreciate the integration of their culture that is sprinkled throughout. The cooking element is very much appreciated, because I'm one of those readers who likes a lot of food talk in books. I swiped for the next page on my kindle a few times before I realized I had reached the end of the preview, so it appears that I would keep reading!
