The first thing I have to say about this book, is that it is magical, and I'm not talking about the actual magic in the plot! O'Shea has managed to weave tales and stories of his intricate universe that are just captivating. I have to say these stories were my favourite parts of the book as they just opened your eyes to the depth of this world that O'Shea created.

O'Shea's writing style is simple, but it's very clever - you know everything you need to know, and whilst you have questions, not knowing the answers isn't overwhelming nor does it take from the rest of story. The careful writing all leads to building this mysterious world and tales of adventure, war and magic right before your very eyes.

Although, I feel that the pacing just wasn't quite right. We start with these two opposing forces, but they are quickly forgotten until the very end of the book. This results in a long story, that feels like you are making minimal progress without a lot happening, despite the many things that do actually occur.

However overall, I did enjoy this book, you can just feel the dedication and pride that O'Shea has in his creation and something like that really wipes away anything else you have to say about it

I loved reading this book as it was like diving into a new incredible world. I like that Cael is born into a hard working class family, but soon finds he is more different than his family, friends, and most people around him.

This book is so incredibly captivating; bringing out most emotions throughout the book and the way the store was told, forming a emotional rollacoaster for the reader.
I love the relationships and insight Cael has. He is so in tune with his feelings as well as the things and events around him. I also love the stories told inside of the story; this history of the story's past gave me as a reader a much better understanding of the story and brought me that much closer to both Cael and Wynn.

I rather enjoyed the author's writing style as it is easy to read while also being to affect you emotionally.

There's not much I dislike about this book, if anything at all. I recommend this to most audiences, maybe to readers 12 years and over because of some of the frightening events and slight violence.
