Intrigue, deception, debauchery and tortured characters – what’s not to like in this wonderfully written historical romance?

This was my very first Kerrigan Byrne book and I was definitely impressed.

Though this is the third book in the series, I easily read this as a standalone and got instantly caught up in this story.

The flashback to Franscesca’s youth totally set the stage for what was a story filled with just the right amount of suspense and the perfect amount of heat that simmered between Francesca and Chandler.

If you like historical romances with strong heroines and tortured heroes like I do this one will totally fit the bill.

Francesca was a woman set on her goal of revenge and wouldn’t let anything stop her from achieving it. I admired the lengths to which she went to achieve her almost lifelong mission.

Many a man, including Chandler, were opposed to her direct dealings to bring about her revenge but she would not be thwarted and I loved that about her.

Chandler was just as engaging as a character. It was pretty easy to determine his identity early on but I loved how these two danced around each other toward a similar goal. Their chemistry was intense!

While the subject matter behind the suspense aspect to this story is darker than I typically go for in a novel, it wasn’t overwhelming and didn’t overshadow the characters who really stole the show in this book.

I have not yet read the first two books in this series and I probably won’t given the subject matter of their stories which was alluded to in this book. Those are definitely two trigger topics that I steer clear of but I am so glad that I got to read this one.

I will definitely be reading Kerrigan Byrne in the future.

I recommend this historical romance to fans of strong heroines, tortured heroes and those who like a bit of dramatic suspense with their romance.

Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the electronic copy of The Devil in her Bed by Kerrigan Byrne. I voluntarily agreed to read and review this book prior to publication. My opinions are my own and nothing has influenced them.

The Devil in her Bed is a steamy historical with engaging characters and an intriguing plot. The pacing kept me enmeshed in the story from the start to the end. There’s plenty of action and suspense in this book.

I enjoyed the romance between Francesca and Chandler. The sexual tension between the couple is excellent. Their need to work together greatly added to the plot, and I really wanted them to find their happy ending.

If you enjoy historical romances with spies, exciting scenes and a fiery love affair, then you will love The Devil in her Bed. This is definitely not the normal historical romance. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Byrne, and I am sure it won’t be the last. Happy reading!

Loved it! I was thrilled to get the 3rd book in the series and couldn't wait to read it. It was wonderful to finally understand Francesca's full story, and realize why she's done everything in the previous stories. The Devil of Dorset, what can I say about our dark, devilish hero? He's perfect for Francesca and I'd love to meet him in a dark alley :) Loved the entire trilogy, wish it could continue!

Pippa was raised in the Cavendish home with her parents who worked for them. One day a group of riders came to murder everyone in the house and burn it to the ground. That day Pippa lost her best friend Francesca and DeClan the boy she loved while trying to help her escape hid her and was then shot in the back. She was helped by Serana who talked her into taking the place of Francesca and from then on made it her purpose in life to seek out those murders and have her revenge. There is a lot of drama, action, suspense, and love that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy from NetGalley.

I loved this series from start to finish! The first installment, How to Love a Duke in Ten Days was my first introduction to Kerrigan Byrne's work and now I am working on devouring her entire backlist. This series though, has a special place in my heart. Two of the Red Rogues have found their matches, leaving Francesca with her relentless drive toward revenge. Francesca is an army of one; a jack of all trades really. She is fierce, witty, with a sharp mind and tongue. Out of all three rogues, she is my favorite! Chandler, the Devil of Dorset, works for the crown and has a bit of that tortured hero background that motivates him.

The barely restrained passion fills each interaction between Francesca and Chandler. Watching them both struggle to keep a cool head, and failing, while trading barbs was endlessly entertaining and a bit blush inducing. The Crimson Council is back, front and center in this final installment and it was interesting to see a bit of the inner workings of the council.

As much as I loved this story, the ending had a tinge of bitterness for me. In fact, I waffled between 4.5-5 stars until I used my husband as a sounding board. Francesca and Chandler fit together so well, their strengths complement the other's weaknesses. And yet throughout the relationship, that specter from their past felt ever present for me and gave this HEA a bittersweet feel. To have that feeling and still feel willing to give five stars is just a testament to how well Kerrigan Byrne crafted her characters. I desperately wanted fairytale endings because all of these charming characters deserve it after all that they have been through.

Basically, what I'm telling you is to pick this series up. Start with book one because all three books are fabulous in their own way. I will warn that the prologues are a bit brutal so if you have TW issues make sure to look up the warnings for this series. Byrne handles each topic (violence, rape, murder, child abuse, and others) with grace and sensitivity. As brutal as the scenes are, it is far from being trauma porn. ANYWAY. Read this series.

This is my favourite kind of historical romance and the exact reason why I’m such a fan of Kerrigan Byrne. There’s a touch of darkness which is a great contrast to the light at the end of the journey. The women in this series are strong and have overcome heartache, devastation and loss to find their happiness. The heroes are bossy, demanding and very protective of the women they fall in love with. This protectiveness has spread to all of the Red Rogues.

If you haven’t started this series yet, I highly recommend going back to the first book in the Devil You Know series.

5 So Many Answers Stars!!!

I have been consumed by this series and have wanted Francesca’s story since I first met her in How to Love A Duke in 10 Days and I have to say Ms. Bryne, in my opinion, saved the best for last when it comes to these books. Don’t get me wrong, I ADORED Alexandra and Cecelia’s stories, but there’s just something about this book that spoke to me on an entirely other level!!

My heart was in my throat the entire first chapter. I knew what had happened all those years ago based on what Francesca has said in previous books. But to have it all played out in black and white was truly devastating!! I’m in awe of this young woman and how she survived.

But with this survival comes an all consuming need for answers and revenge and this is where the story takes a turn that is not surprising but definitely shocking. I understand what Francesca needed to due and when she crosses the path of The Devil of Dorset she’s crossed a line that will change her life and what she’s seeking for the rest of her life.

I loved how there was almost an awe they each had for each other but wouldn’t admit to right away. Francesca bests him a few times and he’s never encountered a woman like her and he LOVES it!! There’s also this underlying attraction that comes alive when they decide they’re fighting for the same thing!

I don’t want to give too much away so I’ll just say this, Ms. Bryne has written a book and series that I’ll read again and again. I admire who these women are and what they become as adults. The inner and sometimes outer strength is fabulous. Very unheard of in their time but they march to the beat of their own drummer. Chandler and Francesca two peas in the same pod, it just takes them a while to realize it and that together, they’ll get all the answers and revenge they’ve been looking for all these years!!

This series has had some dark undertones, and The Devil In Her Bed is no exception on that front. There is true evil portrayed in this book, and those who are looking for light and fluffy historical romance might wish to turn elsewhere. Francesca is tough, determined, and has honed herself for revenge, and it’s going to be an uphill battle until the end. Thankfully, the rest of the Rogues, and their powerful partners, are there when she needs them. That all said, it’s a really, really good romance read, and a great finale to the Devil You Know series. Bryne delves into the emotions of her hero and heroine with both an iron hand and a delicate touch, showing them both to readers thoroughly. Without getting into the meat of the story, The Devil In Her Bed is especially poignant in many ways, and keeps the reader on tenterhooks as secrets sit on the cusp of revelation. I flew through this story, and regret nothing. I do think that the book would probably most please readers who have been along for the entire ride of the series, but those who haven’t read any other books by Byrne should have no problem picking this title up and enjoying it. I’m looking forward to seeing what Byrne has in store for readers next!

The Devil in Her Bed was not an enjoyable book for me. I had a really hard time connecting with Francesca and her ways, I'm not sure if this is because I didn't read books 1 & 2. The story starts out really good with a young Francesca and why she seeks revenge but unfortunately it goes downhill quickly after. I love reading romances and this was far from it. I didn't feel any connection between Francesca and Chandler. My biggest issue were the lies, they come together with lies and it continues to the very end. While I believed Francesca's love, I didn't believe Chandlers. Overall The Devil in Her Bed didn't work for me but I am interested in reading books 1 & 2.

This is definitely my favourite of the series! I haven’t read the first one but I honestly don’t think it could top how explosive and dark and powerful this novel turned out to be.

I knew just from the fact that Fransceca was our heroine that this would be a dark yet utterly thrilling story and journey but this book completely tore at all of my expectations. That first chapter really hit deep with how dark and how utterly tragic it was. (I would advise you to look at the Trigger Warnings listed below if you need them, this book delves into some dark, dark topics).

Franscesca was such a badass heroine in every sense of the word. Her entire life mission is to get revenge for her family after they were all killed by this unknown entity. The people Franscesca is determined to bring down in whatever way she needs to. Her storyline was so dark but at the same time, she is full of this inner fire that really made me love her all the more. She’s described as a dragon and that absolutely describes her.

Declan was a surprise but in a good way, for the most part. At some points, he did get on my nerves but Francesca never let him get away with his bullshit. We truly love to see a man like Declan get put in his place. Their romance was an inferno of passion and anger and lust and it was everything.

My only real complaint was the miscommunication trope and a certain lie that took way too long to be revealed. I also hated the way it was revealed, it was a plot device that I easily guessed and took a bit of my enjoyment with it.

But overall, I had an absolute blast with this book. I flew through it and I am glad that I got a chance to read it early.

If you like badass, ass kicking heroines, a demon of a man who is also a spy, a thrilling revenge plot and a steamy, passionate romance, I implore you to check out this book and the rest of this series! I love the Red Rogues, I’m sad that their stories are over.

4/5⭐️

TW: murder, attempted murder, hanging, rape, death of a child (descriptive), drowning, fire, blood, sexually explicit scenes, drugging, assault, violence, gun violence.

I have really liked this series. This book didn't disappoint with Frank's character. I was really surprised by who H turned out to be.
The "mystery" was a little convoluted but it worked with the history of the 2 characters. I was fun to see the other 2 rouges .

This had me hooked from the first page, I had read the first two in the series and I was waiting for Francesca’s story. It didn’t disappoint!. Francesca was determined to find the person responsible for the death of her family and had trained in many martial arts. The Devil of Dorset was a spy who was able to change his appearance but there was something that drew them together. There are a few surprises along the way, some very tense moments, the strong bond between Francesca and her two friends, Cecelia and Alexandra and moments of passion. In all, a very engaging read. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

“Whatever souls are made of, yours and mine are the same.”
Hiding ones identity can lead to an intriguing story, full of tension. I love watching the characters forge their way, risking the danger of letting that façade slip. Both Chandler and Francesca had spent their lives becoming someone else. Imposters because they could not be who they truly were. Both had donned enough of their own facades to recognize that deception in the other. They’d built their identities to bring justice to those who had destroyed the lives of loved ones. Their whole lives were consumed with revenge until fate brought them together, and with that union came a hope and longing for something more.
I have adored these Red Rogues. Three friends bound together by secrets who had forged an unbreakable bond of trust. I loved seeing them find life partners who brought love, happiness, and hope to their lives. Watching these characters evolve past the darkness in their lives has been exquisite. I definitely recommend starting this series at the beginning. You’ll appreciate Francesca’s story more after knowing of her past and how brave and resourceful these three friends are. As with the first two books in the series, this book was intense and passionate. Another dark and emotionally gripping story with sharply defined characters that readers will quickly become invested in. Kerrigan Byrne’s writing is flowing and eloquent, and this series has all the steam, secrets, and scandal I’ve come to expect from her books.

Oh, what a stunning finale! The Crimson Council, the secretive occult society is crushed and the last of The Red Rogues finds her perfect match.

He's known as the Devil of Dorset, but unknown as a gentleman of many disguises. Chandler works for the Crown and Francesca Cavendish is a woman he knows is a fraud. After all, he's a master of deception, and it takes one to know one. He's determined to discover why she's pretending to be the Countess of Mont Claire, only his interest in this woman goes beyond his investigation.

Francesca is a resourceful woman and wants to finally solve the mystery of who ordered the massacre which killed all the people she loved. As the sole survivor, she's getting close to finding the perpetrator. With her reputation in tatters, will she succeed in finding closure?

I've enjoyed the previous novels in this intriguing series, but this one is exceptional. Lies and deceit are uncovered, as the strength of friendship is enforced as Francesca comes face to face with Chandler. However, all is not at it seems because both are masquerading as aliases...who have met before on more than one occasion.

The heroine and Red Rogues are familiar characters and each complement the others with their skills and intelligence. Surprisingly, Cecilia and Alexandra men; Redmayne and Ramsay, play an active part in helping to bring down the Crimson Council and sending the man responsible for the massacre to the gallows. Therefore it's no surprise, Ms Kerrigan's writing kept my attention the whole duration of the book. The well thought out narrative, along with added humour make this a novel and series I'll want to read again.

Warning: do not start reading this book just before going to sleep! Like the other two books in this series, there is evil stalking the pages and the beginning of the book is dark indeed. Francesca is a worthy heroine who has spent twenty years preparing to revenge herself against the Crimson Council. She never expects to be reunited with her long lost love but can she trust him with all her secrets, or will he betray her?

*3.5
In one book, Kerrigan Bryne took down purity culture and proved that women will always end up saving the men. Anything by Kerrigan Bryne is a must-read for me! The Devil In Her Bed was thrilling, mysterious, and sexy. When Pippa was a young girl, she is the sole survivor of a massacre that leaves her entire family and friends dead. She reinvents herself and takes on the name of her best friend Countess of Mont Claire, Francesa Cavendish. Flash forward to 20 years later, we learn that Francesa is on a vengeance mission to find the people who murdered her family. I LOVED Francesca. She was so badass, smart, and strong. I love that she was written as a morally grey character. Francesca is the type of heroine I want to always want to read about.

The first scene is dark, so if you are sensitive to reading about violence, be prepared. I will say that I did not connect with the romance in this story. There were so many hidden secrets that I did not get the emotional depth I wanted in a relationship. The plot was a bit confusing, but that's on me because I have not yet read the last two books. Overall, I did not connect with some aspects of the book, but Kerrigan’s writing always impresses me and takes me into another world.

This book is glorious historical romance perfection. It starts with a heartbreaking bang and proceeds to be a rollercoaster ride full of action, romance, intrigue, and emotion. It's the best book in the already fantastic Devil You Know series and I'm so glad that it can be read as a standalone because it is now officially the romance book I will be recommending to every single person for the rest of the year.
I always liked Francesca as the most daring of the Rogues trio and I'm so happy to finally get to see her get revenge and justice for her murdered family. That it also brings her together rather explosively with Chandler and that they are the perfect pair is delicious icing on an already perfect cake.
Byrne is a master at twists and turn and taking off-hand comments or tiny details and making them vitally important to the story or character later on. It makes for a complex plot that nevertheless develops organically and gives every character a chance to grow and catch the reader's heart.
My one tiny complaint is that Byrne apparently ran out of ways to describe female anatomy and got a little too creative for my tastes. I'm pretty sure it wasn't her intention to make me cringe and laugh during one of the very smexy romantic scenes, but it's just bad.
That's how amazing this story is. I'm actually willing to ignore cringey vocabulary in vital parts simply due to how much I loved everything else about it.
I'm serious in saying that will now be my go-to historical romance rec. It'll just have a warning to be prepared for unusual word choices.

Extremely happy thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Paperbacks for the early read!

Oh how I enjoyed this series but this story was my favorite of the series! This story was so full of adventure, danger, heartache, intrigue, sizzling chemistry and love that it was exhilarating to read and brought a smile to my face and made my heart race.

Francesca Cavendish, Countess of Mont Claire has spent the last twenty years in pursuit of Revenge. She is smart, strong, quick and a fierce warrior not to be taken lightly. After twenty years of training, and learning, everything she can in order to be the best. Using her beauty as well of her intelligence to gather all the information she needs to move forward, so she will finally be ready to bring down the Crimson Council for the deaths of her entire family. Only being alive due to the boy she loved, but who she lost as well.

Chandler Alquist, the Devil of Dover is a ghost. He has lived his life in the shadows doing covert services for the Crown whose sole purpose in life was to be notorious and invisible. He is as lost as he is deadly, after losing everyone he ever loved.

Oh how I loved watching these two tangle and how they both are affected by the other... Such a captivating, sizzling connection. Adventure that is action packed as well as edgy. A fantastic ending to this series!!!

Francesca Cavendish has waited twenty years to find out who murdered her family. Chandler, the Earl of Devlin is an enigma, a man of deception. Can these two wounded souls learn to trust again and find love?

This is the final book in the Devil You Know series and can be read as a standalone. The series features three friends and I really liked how they are always there for one another. I was looking forward to Francesca's story as there was a bit of a mystery surrounding what happened when she was a child.

Francesca was a strong female lead who persevered against tough odds in her mission to find justice. Chandler had a very dark past, channeling his emotions into being a spy for the Crown. I had a harder time warming up to him because of some of the things he says, but he came around in the end. This book was more drama than character driven or banter but was a solid end to the series. Though I was really hoping for an epilogue with all three couples.

If you enjoy historical romance with strong female characters be sure to check out this series. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an e-copy of this book.
