Suspense, intrigue, a kick ass heroine. These women have been through hell and back. The red rogues banded together and Francesca is determined to finish out her quest. To find and kill all those responsible for her families death.

Great end to the series. Can’t wait for the next one.

I was highly anticipating this third in series by Kerrigan Byrne. She is a must-read for me, and I was looking forward to Francesca’s story and more of the friendship between the Red Rogues.

Francesca is strong, smart and laser-focused on revenge. I was a little less enamored with the hero, and thought he should have figured out the plot line a little sooner, but …

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Stars 4/5 (Grace Callaway, Jennifer Ashley, Sarah MacLean, Jess Michaels, Lorraine Heath)

This book was good, worth reading in a few days. It hit pretty much most of my personal markers for a good read and well roundness of the book. my personal markers for a great read...1. smart and engaging writing, 2. Humorous, 3. sexy interactions and 4. stories with family/friends.

The development and interest in main characters, H/H well paired, and Secondary characters was enjoyable. It kept me wanting to know and read more.

Laugh out loud with humorous moments. The give and take dialogue was wonderful.

I loved the writing around the women empowerment (it wasn’t over the top for me). Badass women rock.

Movement of the book flowed for the most part. Book writing/conversation engaging. Not a lot of historical accuracy (no big deal to me), not a lot of internal character dialogue and not a lot of descriptive scenery written out.

Romantic /sexual content (kissing, oral and love making scenes) was throughout the book. Nothing over the top and was intertwined rightly in the story telling. 3/5 rating hotness and steam with some ‘dirty’ words thrown in 😉. very hot detailed sexual content with ‘dirty’ words thrown in.

I love series around family members or a group of friends. I love the series even more when the author intertwines those characters throughout the book series (it’s a pet peeve when authors don’t do that because what’s the point of the series and introducing the characters if they are not going to interact throughout the series). You get past book characters in this story.

recommend the book and the series. you don’t have to read the series in order however it wouldn’t hurt.

I probably should have read the description of this more closely when I accepted the offer to review it, because this really isn't my type of book. I just saw the name Kerrigan Byrne and have a friend is a huge fan, so I've been wanting to read more, which is why I picked this up.

For starters, while you get enough context to read this as a standalone, I get the impression that knowing more of the backstory for the heroine's friends would make this more enjoyable, though I don't think that would be a deterrent if you really enjoyed the story.

That's where my other problem came in, though: I'm not huge on revenge plots. This story opened up in a pretty brutal manner, which was not at all what I was expecting when I sat down to read this (and maybe it would be if I was more familiar with Byrne's backlist, idk), and the stakes and angst and cruelty just grew from there, and I was not a fan. I think I made it a quarter of the way in before I decided to skim ahead and see when they main characters figured out who the other was, and what I read while I was skimming convinced me that this was not the book for me. It's very much all about the revenge, and I just wasn't invested.

If you like high angst, intense revenge romances, I think this one is worth giving a shot! But if, like me, you have very little interest in revenge plotlines, then definitely pass on this one.

That never happened to me I think but I really liked the story of The Devil in Her Bed, however, I wasn't fond of any of the characters which I'm really sad about.
Still, I was invested enough to want to know what was going to happen.

TW for lost of loved one.
Also, like every KB book I read, the beginning is really dark and intense. I know it's never easy for me to read.

Kerrigan Byrne does it again! Even though it has one of my most hated tropes (stupid evil sex cult), still 4.5 stars

Kerrigan Byrne kicks it up a million with this latest installment. Frankie finally gets her long-sought revenge on her parents and best friends death. I couldn't read this fast enough

This is a super fun read. I really enjoyed this one!

Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

Kerrigan Byrne is simply the best, and there’s a reason why she is my fave historical romance writer! She’s definitely not afraid to go to certain places in her writing, and I applaud her for that! Women using the power they have over men, and their baser needs—why not? Certain scenes in this book where I was definitely impressed that KB went there. If you’ve read then you know😏. There’s always a hint of darkness in KB’s writing and that I feel, is what sets her apart. I absolutely loved this book!

My lord, I forgot to add my review! How I came to love this world, this series, these ladies.
A worth send-off that kept me on my toes, and really tied it all together. Kerrigan Byrne's writing is great as always and this makes it a standout book. I would say one should read the first two, otherwise, the full depth of the Rogues doesn't translate as well.

Last novel from the Devil You Know Series and I'm very grateful to read all of the stories!

Francesca and Chandler are the couple who hid who they really were from the past. Their childhood days were traumatic and dark. And seeing each other for a long time, opens a new beginning and moving on.

Among these three ladies, I was never been a fan of Francesca but I appreciated her personality in the story. I like Chandler more though. 😁

Thank you St. Martin's Press for the wonderful opportunity of reading this series and Netgalley for the ARC. Congratulations Miss Kerrigan Byrne for the romantic series!

So good! I love the history and the present mixed in the plot making it more intense. The characters are great as always from Ms. Byrne. I cant wait to read more by her

I'm a huge, huge Kerrigan Byrne fan, but The Devil in Her Bed felt underwhelming to me.

I adored the first book in the series and also enjoyed the second, but The Devil in Her Bed is by far the weakest book. I think part of my issue is that the MCs keep so many secrets from each other, right until the end of the story, and communication lacks throughout. Both throw little hissy fits, and it felt like two feral cats in a bag, not like a romance book.

The male MC was also very over the top. I felt like he was too fixated on his idea of what Francesca was like in childhood (or what he thought she was like), and was all up in his feelings far too often. I found him to be broody in a emo way, and I think his chemistry with Francesca was spotty at times.

Francesca was also too private for my tastes. I think the whole magic of this series is the bond between the female friends, and that was very underwhelming in this particular story. I missed their connection and collaborating. Francesca felt like a lone wolf, even when she over romanticized her connection to Chandler.

I enjoyed the exciting plot (though the reveals were both strange, improbable, and anti-climactic all at once), and I always like Kerrigan Byrne's writing style and pacing, but these two MCs didn't do it for me.

4.5 stars

Once again, Kerrigan Byrne delivers historical romance right in the lane I love the most.

This is Francesca's book. She's the third and final member of the Red Rogues and her story was even than I'd hoped. You see, Francesca isn't really Francesca at all. She is Pippa, daughter to the servants for the real Francesca's family. When they were only children, a group of men attacked the home and killed everyone. Only Pippa and one other servant survived. Or so they thought. The boy she loved, Declan Chandler, survived too. But she didn't learn that until years after she assumed her friend's identity and made it her mission in life to seek revenge.

Meanwhile, Chandler was doing the same thing. He became a spy, creating multiple identities for himself. Like Francesca, his goal was to take down the secret society to blame for the murders. But at first, he plans to take down Francesca too. He believes her to be an imposter of his childhood friend, never imagining her true identity. Their reunion and subsequent relationship ends up twisting and turning with half-truths, passion, distrust, and somehow... love.

I was there for every minute.

True, it took a little while at the beginning of the book to really ramp up to the romance, but I like a good prologue and this one was on point. There's some solid angst here, which Byrne does quite well, and the sex is on fire, without being over the top.

Francesca is a kick ass heroine. She is tough and every bit as capable as she believes herself to be. She's loyal and brave and loves deeply. I think she's the stronger character her, but Chandler makes for a fine hero. Together, they gave me a rollercoaster ride of a romance, a solid mystery/action plot, and a satisfying HEA.

Would recommend this entire series... and pretty much all of Kerrigan Byrne's stuff.

While Francesca and Devlin were not my favorite couple in the series, I did enjoy this book. I loved how strong, capable, and fierce Francesca is. I have to admit - while I understand some of the necessity behind all of the secretiveness of their mutual past and identities, at some point it was more anxiety inducing than entertaining. But I found the plot to be action packed, fast paced, and (for the most part) entertaining. I'm actually sort of sad to see the series come to an end but all of these HEAs were so hard won and well deserved. 4 out of 5 wine glasses.

The Devil In Her Bed is the final book in the trilogy that we have here, and it was so nice to finally reach a conclusion. I will admit this the book I was looking forward to the least. The heroine I knew would be an issue for me and to be honest in the first couple of chapters I wasn't sure if I would keep this book up or would DNF it because this heroine is hard as a stone especially towards men, she is bitter and cold and not the most relatable of heroines. And I was wondering while I was reading the first handful of chapter, how this author would win me over....well the answer is the hero. He was superb in every way and gave off all the delicious alpha vibes. This book also had some "Highwayman" vibes I was totally down for.

Francesca lost the boy she loved and her whole family was murdered and ever since then she has been determined to get her vengeance against those that took everything from her. She goes after men and destroys them in some creative ways while also getting the information that she desperately needs. But then she runs into a man she is not ready for and one who will tear down every defense she has....the Earl of Devlin. Devlin is a man of many facets and works as a spy for the government and is working his way to tearing down a dangerous secret organization but Francesca keeps getting in his way. There is a powerful chemistry between them but he is determined to tear down all her defenses and find out all she knows. But what Devlin and Francesca don't realize, is that they must join forces, come clean with their pasts to destroy their enemy and discover a epic love worth fighting for.

The Devil In Her Bed is basically what the tile infers to be honest. Because our hero is every bit the devil and what a devil. I absolutely adored his character in every way. And he is the reason that I kept up with the book, if it wasn't for him, I would have DNF'd it ....hands down. Francesca took a lot of time to be endeared to and even by the end I never really liked her character all that much. While we see some genuine traits to her character, I never got fully to the point where I could truly like her. The story is pretty intense actually and the plot of what the author builds here definitely will keep you in suspense and on the edge. I never really know what to expect with a novel by KB and I am more than happy to explore books more with her and seeing how she crafts a story. It did become quite a page turner and I was more than content to settle into it.

Overall I found it to be a stunning ending to a emotion craft filled trilogy and what a ending that Kerrigan Byrne has delivered to us. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

A beautiful third story in a beauty trilogy! I love Francesca and her strength in body and character. I loved her second chance romance with Chandler, I could totally feel her inner struggle and pain when they spoke of their childhood. The angst was perfect, the steamy was delicious! I only wish this series didn’t have to end!

The Devil in Her Bed by Kerrigan Byrne
Series: Red Rogues #3
Subgenre: historical romance
Release date: 9 Mar 2021
Publisher: St Martin’s
Format: ebook and print
Length: 368 pages
RRP: $7.68 (ebook); $17.50 (print)

I was so excited when I started this story knowing it was the third story in the Red Rogues, and it was Frank’s story.

Francesca (Frank) Cavendish, Countess of Mont Claire is a dynamo. She is determined to find the members, and in particular the head, of the Crimson Council, an organisation who is depraved and willing to overthrow the government which has been a thread through the previous two books. Slowly the Red Rogues have chipped away at the membership of the Crimson Council and have met the love of their life. This time it is Frank’s turn.

Francesca is totally different to her friends Alexandra and Cecilia. She is toned and has trained herself to seek and look, much like a spy, for the head of the Crimson Council. She also has a reputation among the men of the ton as being sexually promiscuous and willing. Little do they know is that she has drugged them, searched their homes and made them believe they were an excellent lay. Francesca also has a deep secret. One that no one can know.

Declan Chandler is a man with no real identity (until the end when we find out who really is). He was a lost boy who found refuge at Mont Claire. The residents are murdered, and the estate burned to the ground. Two people survived but each believes the other didn’t make it. Both seek revenge. Declan is not sure if Francesca is real or not. He believes the real one was killed, and he means to unmask the imposter.

When Declan and Francesca come together, the chemistry sizzles and they cannot get enough of each other. The sexual attraction is intense. The reader is then taken through the depraved ceremonies of the Crimson Council (think Hell Fire Club from the Regency period for history readers). Frank is able to recognise Declan, as you would expect in a romance story, even though they are masked. Night two of the ceremony is the downfall of the Crimson Council and there are more revelations.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. But I think this might be my favourite in the series. Frank has an objective. She has learned skills to achieve her aim. She drinks. She has little fear to attain her objective, find those responsible for the death of her family. She even learned to vault to gain access to a prisoner on the third floor of a building! Declan is her prefect match.

It is a little sad to leave the Red Rogues, but they have sorted their lives and found their love.

I was really excited to read this book. Francesca's back story and what she has gone through adds so much depth to her story and character. I was really looking forward to her story and hot steamy romance!

However, our hero Chandler had one too many names and persona that sometimes, it was confusing if another character was our hero as one of his personas or a different person entirely. This made it difficult to fully invest in him because he switches into one of his aliases too frequently.

Also, there was such a build up to the Crimson Council that finding out who they were was such a letdown. I felt that there could have been more romance and less Crimson Council, especially since the defeat of the series' big baddie was anti-climactic.

Overall, the first book was the best of the series and this was the second best.

Kerrigan Byrne is one of my favorite historical romance writers. Her heroines are complex, her heroes subversive, and she is not afraid to defy the expectations of a subgenre that can often constrain the types of characters that can be depicted.

I received an eARC of The Devil in her Bed quite unexpectedly. I'd read the first two installments and find the story flows better when considered against the backdrop of the larger trilogy.

Francesca's story was always teased throughout the previous books as compelling and this book proves this true. There is a real payoff in all the world and relationship building from the first books, and all the friendships that came to fruition in this book.

Francesca is out for revenge and won't be stopped. She's a formidable adversary against Lords, Assassins, and her friend's husbands and it is thrilling to see a historical lead so fully in her power.

The mystery surrounding the male lead is compelling and speaks to why he has been watching over Francesca, and what he wants from her. The slow-burn is really slow, but delicious for the expectation it creates. When it's resolved, it's explosive and very satisfying.

Excellent, modern sensibility in the guise of the beloved historical romance. Well-done!
