Yet another suspenseful, alluring romance unfolds in Kerrigan Byrne's latest work. True to her style, the narrative carries a poignant emotional weight, and witnessing Francesca and Chandler's hard-earned happy ending was immensely satisfying. While the conclusion felt a tad hurried, the anticipation surrounding Chandler's discovery of Francesca's secrets added a palpable tension that kept me engrossed. The intricate web of secrets and plot twists left my head spinning. Despite my desire for Francesca to reveal the truth sooner, this installment was thoroughly enjoyable and provided a fitting end to the series. I eagerly anticipate Kerrigan Byrne's next literary venture.

Arc received for honest review

Kerrigan Byrne is one of my favourite authors however this series I have really struggled with, the crimson council and intrigue behind the romance I struggled to follow as I found it didn’t invest me emotionally. H and hs relationship is always superbly done in KBs work and this was no exception, however the crimson council and all the backstory detracted from it.

This just wasn’t for me.

Definitely not for me. Besides the authors personality when dealing with reviewers I just found this book to be too shallow for me.

No longer reading or reviewing due to authors problematic and argumentative behavior with readers on Instagram.

I wish this had worked for me, but I was just never able to get into it! I tried multiple times but could never get past the first few chapters.

Sadly, this book was not a win for me. I have read so many of KB's books at this point that I now realize which aspects of her books will not work for me and weirdly enough it is when she writes "super skinny boyish body" heroines. I really don't enjoy reading about them because there is so much emphasis on how small they are, how they have no curves, etc and it is slightly triggering. I also was not a huge fan of the hero because he was so enamored by her "boyish" body. Idk this just wasn't a book for me and thats okay. The heroine did remind me a lot of Samantha from the other series so if you enjoyed Scot beds his American Wife (?) you'll enjoy this.

Im a huge fan of KB so I'll just stay clear of her heroines that are described as super skinny since these books from her don't work for me.

The Devil in Her Bed - on the surface, this seems like the kind of historical romance I like. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. Originally, I thought it was me, and maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this type of story. So, I picked it up and set it aside several times before finally pushing through. There were some things that I liked - I really like the fire between these characters. Whether arguing or falling into each other's arms, this pair definitely created sparks. At the same time, the whole mistaken identity thing bothered me. There were also some things that were resolved way too quickly (the above-mentioned mistaken identity thing, for one). We go almost the entire book before that secret is spilled, only to need the resolution to happen quickly because we're coming to the end. I'll stop here before I give it all away, and just sum it up by saying this one ended up being a middle of the road read for me. There were things I liked and other things I didn't. Nevertheless, Kerrigan Byrne remains an author I'll read more of. She is certainly a talented storyteller. This one just didn't happen to work as well for me as other books she's penned.

Read this one mainly to figure out how the series ends, and wasn't expecting to 'love' this one. And I didn't exactly love it. It had its good parts, the emotions were tangible, some of the revelations were really 'OMG!' territory. But the pacing kinda killed me loving this book, especially the last 30% of the book where it just seemed to go awry and askew and just off track, too (which then leads the ending and its twist to be a little too convenient...)
It's not a bad one, but it had potential to be a lot better, too

I absolutely loved this book and series. My only sadness is that it was just a trilogy! I somehow wish after Francesca's story it could continue. Byrne has an indelible way of creating romance, mystery, and intrigue, and wrapping it up in a compelling story.

In 1872 in Hampshire, a young Pippa Hargrave is the daughter of servants, who enjoyed playing with the Cavendish twins, children of the Earl and Countess of Mont Claire. Pippa did love two people, Declan Chandler and Francesca Cavendish. When Pippa spies’ riders that end up killing everyone and everything, she holds dear, torching the estate in the end Pippa’s whole world falls apart. Twenty years later Lady Francesa Cavendish is adored by all men and intent on doing one thing to bring down the Crimson Council. Francesa is enjoying her spinsterhood and thinks she is above reproach until Declan comes back into her made up world. Declan will destroy everything Francesca has built especially when she realizes that she is falling in love with him which will shatter Francesa and find out the biggest secret that she guards with her life who the real Francesa really is.
What an amazing Regency historical romance mystery that is definitely a captivating read! The story does seem a bit choppy though in the beginning. there are so many things happening in the first chapter of destruction and death then 20 years later we move to a character that should have died but that is the most fascinating thing Pippa and Francesa aren’t really who they are. Of course, neither is Declan. Luckily, Ms. Kerrigan Byrne knows how to spin a great story into an extraordinary tale and things don’t seem as they should. Unfortunately, both Francesa and Declan aren’t the best characters despite all their emotional upheavals and tragic happenstances. Francesa you never really trust so she isn’t one that you would like to have as a friend and Declan doesn’t make the best book boyfriend. Still, they are both compelling people that pull you into the story so that in itself is a fantastic thing. Is the book worth reading? Sure, it is because I don’t regret reading it more for the wonderful mix of words making a fabulous tale.

This was a long-awaited release for me! I loved the previous installments of the series and jumped for joy at the opportunity to read the final novel! This novel did not disappoint! It was an incredibly satisfying and exhilarating finale to a beautiful saga!

Kerrigan Byrne writes the best romance novels, and this one does not disappoint.

Pippa Hargrave has been hiding a secret. She was the lone survivor of a terrible massacre. She took the name of Francesca Cavendish in the hopes of avenging all those who died that day. Her goal: Take down the Crimson Council.

Declan Chandler loved Francesca as a boy. Now a man, he's a spy (and a very good one). His nightmares are filled from an event 20 years ago that he has sworn to avenge. His goal: Take down the Crimson Council.

The heated interplay of Pippa/Francesca and Declan is wonderful. They play to each other's strengths, but lies could tear them apart.

This book is the final chapter of the Red Rogue Society books. I enjoyed the conclusion of the series. The book itself is well written. My only reason for the 4 star review is that I seriously wanted to beat Declan with a frying pan near the end. Without giving a spoiler, lies are a problem and they come back to haunt this couple.

It's still a very enjoyable and steamy read!

This was my 1st book by Kerrigan Byrne and it was very good. I think this is the last book of the series, which I didn't realized until I started reading it. I usually like reading series in order but I really did enjoy it.

This book moved along quite well for me. I hadn't read the previous books, but didn't feel as if I was lost in the story. I will go back and read them as they seemed like a wonderful group of friends.

I really loved this Kerrigan Byrne series. This is a darker historical romance and more angsty that i am used to but it worked for me.

FINAL DECISION: This book was almost a great book. Unfortunately, the ending when the final secret was revealed with completely unsatisfying. The amazing journey was not ended well. But there is much to love about this book.

THE STORY: Countess Francesca Cavendish is not who she appears. The survivor from a massacre that left her alone in the world, she assumed a new identity to hunt those responsible. In her search, she crosses paths with the Devil of Dorset, mysterious and solitary, he has his own agenda. But the two of them are connected in ways that neither expected. As each pursues their goals, the question is whether either can trust the other when so many lies and secrets are between them.

OPINION: This was almost my favorite of the series -- for 90 percent of the book that was true. Then the ending came and the resolution of the final secret between these characters was poorly handled. Instead of drama and resolution, the author went simplistic and trite. Definitely unfortunate and it left me questioning the long happily ever after. Just not enough resolution for me.

The rest of the book was magical. The two characters are so well matched. The lies and secrets between them seemed reciprocal and thus there was no shame in each deceiving the other -- rather than betrayal, there was respect. These two are in the mold of spies that are both doing their job on opposite sides. There is nothing personal about the deception. Thus, the great competition between them was deeply satisfying. As they both reveal themselves to the other, the intimacy of knowledge and being themselves worked so well.

Francesca is a great heroine. Strong and determined and independent. She doesn't put up with the hero's bull, but at the same time, the connection between the two felt genuine and deep.

Perhaps that is why the ending upset me. The final secret between these two was serious and needed real resolution. The work was not done in this book rather it was rushed and unconvincing. But the book is still a good story...I'll just have to imagine my own resolution.

WORTH MENTIONING: This book involves characters who are often lying to one another and concealing secrets.

CONNECTED BOOKS: THE DEVIL IN HER BED is the third book in the Devil You Know series. The series has some overlapping storylines, but the individual romances mean that each book can be read on its own.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

NOTE: I received an eARC of this book via Netgalley. I was not required to write a review or to write a positive review. All opinions contained herein are my own.
