This is going to be a hard to review without spoilers because what didn't sit well with me is the plot itself. This is my personal bias not the author's fault. The best I can explain without ruining the story is to share a story from Smallville fandom years ago, the show about Superman as a young man. There was this character Chloe Sullivan (actress in the news because of the branding cult). Her fans wanted to be revealed as Lois Lane. The only problem was Lois Lane was on the show and was Chloe's cousin. For years Chloe fans came up with farfetched ways for Lois to die and Chloe would take Lois's identity (name and all) and end up with Clark Kent. They wanted her with Clark and so she had to be Lois Lane. The story had to end that way because of DC Comics rules. Needless to say it didn't happen.

I got unpleasant flashes to all that reading this. The end of the story in particular really disturbed me. I didn't feel the hero loved her as much as she loved him even with the grovel scene. I felt there would always be a ghost between them. When it was never going to end the way the hero imagined because the girl on the pedestal didn't feel the same and the reader was privy to this but he wasn't. This didn't work for me but probably will for others!

Kerrigan Byrne does not write insipid heroines, but of tortured brave soldiers of life. Nor does she write polite exploratory love scenes. Instead sex is ‘punishing’ or a conflagration of ownership and emotion. This book, the conclusion to her Mistresses of Mayhem series, takes a child who survives a massacre of everyone she knows, including children, and puts her heroine on a 20 year journey to wreak revenge on those killers and the man who ordered that massacre. Unbeknownst to her, her childhood secret love also survived and is on a similar redemptive path but knows that the architect of the massacre is his own father. They join together, hostile allies in pursuit unaware of each other’s secret identity. Misunderstood motives drive them before they achieve their HEA. A worthy conclusion to the series.

I enjoyed the book. Though there were grammatical error in couple of places the flow was good. The story had strong characters.

The concluding novel to the series where knowledge of the Crimson Council first started and impacted two lives greatly, both living with guilt and seeking revenge for the loved ones they lost. Both are keeping secrets from each other, where one move throughout society and the other through the shadows. They call this dangerous man the Devil of Dorset, for he does not exist, but for one woman he does. Francesca Cavendish, the Countess of Mont Claire, has trained to not be defenseless or helpless, but to be strong and cunning in order to avenge her loved ones. As their two paths begin to intertwine, they realize both want the same thing, but working together is not either of their strong suites. Still, they begin to learn more about each and reveal secrets about themselves, which changes their relationship. However, secrets never stay buried and the ones they each carry could change everything in their lives.
I received this novel from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was waiting anxiously for this book and it did not disappoint. The Devil in Her Bed is everything you want in a Historical Romance and more, I loved it. It's romantic, action packed, characters deceive and are deceived, truth is revealed.... It's great and exactly what you'd expect from a Kerrigan Byrne novel.
I just wish there'd been an epilogue, but I'll have to deal.
5 stars.

A very good ending for this that was one of my favorite trilogy of regency romance. I love the way Francesca and Declan get to know each other, or something like that ;)

Un ottimo finale per questa che era una delle mie trilogie regency preferite. Mi é piaciuta soprattutto la modalitá con cui Francesca e Declan si "riconoscono".

THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

*Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.*

I don't know that I have read a more perfectly put together Historical Romance Trilogy than this one. I don't know how I can separate this one out from the entire Devil You Know Trilogy because it all built on top of each other so well.

I was fortunate enough to receive an eARC for this book not long after reading the 1st and 2nd novel in the series and I think it flowed together so well. With Byrne's trademark darkness, sexiness, and great characters, I was swept away to the world of the Red Rogues and The evil Crimson Council which is really dived into in this novel.

I was so ready to learn more about Pippa/Francesca and I knew from the previous novels dropping hints that her story would gut me. This was so true the Story of Francesca and her revenge is so poignant and she is such a kick ass heroine… I was just entranced. So much so that I started this book the night before Thanksgiving and finished Thanksgiving day as soon as I put my turkey in to roast.

I also knew something was up with certain people we meant along the way. Which I won't spoil here since we are a long ways off from the release but… WOW! Was my diligence paid off.

Francesca is a power house! She was fierce and takes no prisoners. She was tough and strong and could hold her own against Lords, Assassins, and her friend's husbands. She would not be gainsaid in getting vengeance for her loved ones. But she was also clever and alluring.

Our hero… well, I don’t want to say too much about him. I was able to quickly guess who he was.. But it did NOT lessen my enjoyment. I don't think the author is really trying to make his identity a mystery, its more of a mystery about where he has been in the past and why he is watching Francesca. He knows she is an imposter… maybe… and he is obsessed with getting her to admit, while in his bed of course.

As always, this is sexy as hell and full of longing. It may be close to one of her darker novels and the Crimson Counsel is no villain to laugh at. I was scared about what damage they could cause.

All in all, if you have read the other 2, I know you will be continuing. As you should. If you haven't read a Kerrigan Byrne… Please don't start here. Go back and read How to Love a Duke in Ten Days because it will make this book 1000% more satisfying.

But this a 5/5, NO QUESTION!

I can't wait to see what she writes next.
