This was such a sweet read and definitely the first of many I will be reading by this author. I found all the characters relatable in their own way. The romance aspect was written so well.

This one was a bit disappointing. These types of books are some of my favorite--dark, female friendship and romance, thriller vibes. For some reason, this one just didn't hit like some of my other favorites.

I guess I can't really say that an ARC feels unfinished, but I feel like I was missing the connection between Trix and Lux, and the ending felt rushed after the slow slogging travel. I get that there was no Thelma and Louise ending but this felt unfinished.

A different kind of love story where words are said, actions are made and consequences must be paid. But that doesn't mean we can't root for them to get away with it. The story moves quickly, you'll finish the book long before you are ready. You'll be talking about the story long after you're through.

This was a reimagined, queer, YA, Thelma and Louise, though I don't think it completely hit it with the execution. I felt that too much was left unsaid and I found it hard to believe that Trixie and Lux even had feelings for eachother. This was ok, but I didn't love it.

This was a beautifully fun and heartfelt LGBTQ reimagining of Thelma and Louise. I absolutely fell in love with the characters and enjoyed the writing. The book pulled me into and I could not put it down. I highly recommend this!

This one unfortunately fell a bit flat for me. It wasn't bad but definitely underwhelming. Not sure that I would recommend.

I don't know what to feel about this book right now. I think it's because what the book was pitched as messed up my expectations about it.

One thing's for sure, though, there are a lot of content warnings for this book, and a lot of elements can be triggering for readers. Please beware before deciding to pick this one up.

I loved this sapphic take on the Thelma and Louise story. It felt fresh and original, even if the lack of chapters drove me a little bit crazy!

A quick and wild ride, Trouble Girls was definitely darker than I expected, but worth reading all the same.

This book was some great Thelma and Louise stuff but was heavy on the foreshadowing. Otherwise it was very well done and I really enjoyed it. 4 stars!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me this ARC.

This story was billed as a queer, YA take on Thelma & Louise. In the very loosest sense that is true. However, this story is more of an ill-advised road trip with unclear stakes.

The concept is good, really good. The execution doesn't quite match it. The romance contained therein doesn't live up to its promise as one of the two characters never rises above the caricature of a Manic Pixie Dream Girl the book attempts to critique.

I wanted so much to like this book but it just wasn’t one for me. While the story line holds much promise it gets old with one of the characters calling all men “hogs” just because of how she has been treated in the past. Some f their exploits are unrealistic and makes the story too unbelievable for me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you NetGalley, Julia Lynn Rubin and Wednesday Books for hearing my honest review. Looking forward to reading more with you

The idea of a sapphic Thelma and Louise story seems like something that I would love.
Unfortunately, this one didn't work for me. Though this book addresses some pretty difficult topics, I struggled with the way that they were framed, as it often seemed shaming. I found the characters difficult to connect with, and the unusual format of the book a little jarring. I feel like this book had so much potential and I wanted to love it more than I did!
She was just way too obsessed with her friend too

This had incredible potential but I sadly did not enjoy it. If it wasn't a review copy I would probably have DNF'ed before halfway. There story just doesn't flow smoothly, it feels clunky and slow.

I’m not sure if it was just me and my mood or the book but I had to DNF this one. Will update my review if I ever try again.

Wasn’t a huge fan. The romance was meh, the plot was boring and it felt like everything dragged. It took me a while to finish this book

4/5⭐ to Trouble Girls by Julia Lynn Rubin. Thank you very much to Wednesday Books and Netgalley for an egalley copy to review! This is a story based on the tale of Thelma and Louise where best friends Trixie and Lux head out for a much-needed weekend away when their lives are changed forever and they're forced to go on the run. As much as this has elements of a "fun" out-law road trip story this book does get intense so please check out trigger warnings first. The inciting incident, which also sets up one of the major topics/themes of the book, is one of the girls is nearly sexually assaulted in the bathroom of a bar when the other girl intervenes and injures the perpetrator who ends up dying from the injuries. Terrified, Trixie and Lux start their runaway road trip trying to keep ahead of law enforcement and the resulting media frenzy. This whole situation brings up the difficult but much-needed conversation around the #MeToo movement from the barriers survivors face in reporting harassment, assault, and getting the justice they deserve to the divisiveness this conversation brings in society - particularly online. Part of Trixie and Lux's fear in returning home and reporting the whole situation to the police is the support people have for their perpetrator online, not only defending his character but villainizing the girls (who are still unknown to the public or police at this time). There is one good thing that does come out of this situation, and that is because Trixie and Lux don't have anyone to trust than each other and they are now spending all their time together is that the girls finally realize their feelings for each other. They each have been through so freaking much, even before this situation happened, so it's beautiful that they finally have each other and a new relationship to explore and companionship. Finally, I think what really pushed this novel forward and why I liked it so much is the writing created the perfect atmosphere for this story. It relayed the intense emotions Trixie and Lex are feeling, the tension of running away from the law after a horrible incident, and the relief they have that they have each other. If this at all sounds like a story you'd enjoy, I'd definitely recommend checking it out!
