Undercover Wolf was an enjoyable read from Paige Tyler. This is the second book in the STAT series. It's nice that this story can be read as a stand-alone story.

This was my first book from Paige Tyler, but it definitely won't be my last!

I enjoyed Sawyer and Harley's story. Both werewolves with intelligence/special ops backgrounds, and neither is completely comfortable with who they are--him because his teammates don't know about his other identity (they don't even know they exist, in fact), and her because she has repressed hers and hasn't shifted since her family kicked her out for her "otherness" eight years ago.

There is a bit of instant attraction here--explained in part by Harley's teammate Caleb's "The One" theory (AKA fated mates trope) and the I love yous come a bit fast, though their paranormal status and the stress of the suspense portion of the book make it feel fairly believable. Speaking of the suspense, I found it well done, with an appropriate bad bad guy and some henchmen with rather interesting paranormal abilities. Dare I hope that one former henchperson return for Caleb's book? ;)

Overall, I really enjoyed my first venture into Ms Tyler's supernatural world. Undercover Wolf is the second book in her STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team series, but you don't have to have read book one to enjoy this one. Prior knowledge of the world that the author has created here, though, might be helpful (I assume it's similar to if not the same as her other paranormal series?) because she definitely has a slightly different take on supernaturals than I was used to, and the overall "rules" of her universe aren't really laid out until you're pretty far into the book. It didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story, but it did have me a bit confused for a while.

Book 1 ( Wolf Under Fire ) is on my TBR; my goal is to get to it before the next one comes out!

Undercover Wolf is the second title in the STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team series (which is a spin-off from SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team). I’m enjoying this spin-off with new characters to get to know and intense situations to be dealt with. The characters are diverse, once again, and if possible, it feels as though the crimes are just a bit more gritty, more heinous but then the world is often a cruel place with people/creatures who have no problem lowering themselves to absolute vileness.

Hailey is keeping her wolf away from her team and even herself. She has her reasons, are they good ones? Only time will tell. Sawyer is comfortable with his wolf, but his teammates in M16 are definitely not for they do not know about his other life. Sawyer turned several years ago, yet those he works with have a very suspicious attitude toward any supernatural believing that it’s impossible for them to be anything but evil. When the STAT’s case crossed into M16’s area these two werewolves will work side by side, and for Sawyer, with the type of freedom, he’s only dreamed about. Neither are aware that they are The One for each other. Sure, there’s attraction, a draw, but neither is putting the clues together just yet.

The supernaturals the teams are after are vile beyond words as they are trafficking in human/supernatural lives, kidnapping, and so much more. Finding those in danger, freeing them while taking down the network is intense and dangerous. No one will come out of this unaffected. Watching Hailey and Sawyer work together, oftentimes fighting their attraction was an adventure that I enjoyed so much. Sometimes smart people cannot see what’s right in front of them without a bit of help.

If you love a good Paranormal Romantic Suspense then Undercover Wolf should be on your reading radar. Because this is such an ensemble series with the entire team involved in many ways and an overarching theme I really suggest trying to read this series in order if at all possible. Do you have to? Of course not. But I do think you’ll get more of a feel for the characters and perhaps pick up some small tidbits of information along the way that may help understand a character later in the series. I had a blast back in this world and would definitely recommend this title.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Harley and her team are in Paris, and she meets Sawyer and his team who are pursuing the same band of human smugglers. Good story overall, and generally enjoy most stories by this author. This one is no exception. Fast paced and good romantic sparks. highly recommend.

Undercover Wolf (STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team #2). By Paige Tyler. 2021. Sourcebooks Casablanca (ARC eBook).

Overall an entertaining, action-filled read. The STAT team do some teaming up, globetrotting, and butt-kicking while trying to thwart a supernatural trafficking ring. Harley and Sawyer feel an instant connection, fitting The One lore in the SWAT and STAT worlds, but they are kinda clueless about it. Despite being from different countries, the two are similar in how they deal with their wolves. When Harley turned her family did not accept her, and Sawyer has never disclosed to his MI6 teammates about his wolf nature for fear of their rejection; leaving both of them never feeling comfortable with what they are. I liked the two and visiting the STAT team again, but the blueprint for the romance is feeling a bit fatigued to me.

Shifter…special agents… danger… passion… honestly what more could you ask for? Paige Tyler’s new spinoff series of wolf-shifters that are learning they aren’t the only thing that goes bump in the night continues with a story of two wolves that are finding their way in their own skins and in the world together. I have been a big fan of Paige Tyler for many years, enjoying first her SWAT series and not this new one as she takes her wolves on all new adventures. Harley and Sawyer’s story is one of danger, drama, pain and fear but in the end their connection and love is one for the record books as they sacrificed for one another right until the very end. Harley has been stuck as wolf for many years, but she has never really connected with the inner wolf enough to really feel like one, even though she has found a place in the STAT pack and on their missions. Now she finds herself on a surveillance mission when she is confronted by a sexy and enigmatic Sawyer Bishop, a wolf with serious skills and who seems to be hiding his nature from the humans on his MI6 team. Sawyer and his team are on the trail of the same kidnappers as STAT and soon it becomes a joint mission to protect and recover the victims of a deadly and dangerous kidnapping ring, led by some serious bad ass paranormals. Sawyer has hidden his wolf from his team for years, but being around STAT and Harley makes it harder to hide and reminds him that he isn’t really a lone wolf. Harley and Sawyer are more than attracted to one another, but how can a wolf hiding his nature and one that hasn’t tapped into hers find a way to be together as mates? And can they make a decision about their feelings before the psychos they are chasing take their decisions away from them? I loved every moment of the story between Harley and Sawyer, from the angst they both dealt with, to the pull between them, and the danger they faced together. Sawyer has obviously hidden himself entirely too long, but when he begins to peel back his layers and show himself I really enjoyed getting to know him. He was smart, tough, charming, and kind, showing Harley that she was more than enough even if she had some issues with her inner wolf. The sacrifices he made to protect his friends and Harley especially showed his determination to do whatever it takes for his loved ones, and I loved seeing him win in the end. Harley has a lot of growing up and accepting to do for herself before she was able to find her own inner happiness and when her mate was in danger she stopped fighting herself and embraced her own inner badass to do whatever it took to protect her man. Getting to know her was a little harder because she fought so hard to keep herself back, but ultimately she was a strong, dedicated, and compassionate alpha female that found her perfect match. The passion between them was there from the beginning until the very end and you can tell that won’t be waning anytime soon. I enjoyed every moment of this story even though I had to shed a few tears along the way. I am dying to know what comes next for STAT and what kinds of bad guys they will vanquish next and who will find their mate next.

As much as I like STAT series I still prefer the SWAT series. It was a good read enjoyable characters, I can't wait for Caleb's story. Exciting with a good romance.

Was I hooked by that book? Yes. As usual, the action and chemistry between the characters drew me in.

This is book two of the STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team Series.

Harley has been a wolf for a while now and she enjoys her job as part of the STAT team. But she has never fully engaged her wolf abilities. She can't shift and her senses don't work as well as her teammates'. Her wolf is brought to the forefront more and more as she has to work closely together with a team from MI6, with werewolf Sawyer in the lead. Sawyer loves being a werewolf, but he has been hiding this from his team. Working with another wolf team makes it increasingly harder for him to keep his wolf-half hidden.

I liked Sawyer, right from the start. He knows who he is, and he is completely in sync with his werewolf, he's just scared to share it with the rest of his team.

The connection between Harley and Sawyer is clear straight away. And it only grew as they continued to work together. The two of them just felt so natural together and they fit together well as a couple.

There is the usual nail-biting action and great chemistry that I have come to expect from this series. I can highly recommend this series and the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team Series that is related to it. I think it's best to read them in order, but not strictly necessary.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am always looking out for the next book with this group of werewolves! Each one is different and yet great when they find their "One." This time it is Harley who meets Sawyer during a mission and can't explain her attraction to a fellow werewolf.

When they discover that they are both searching for the same objective during their time together, STAT works with MI6.

I loved that Sawyer didn't tell his MI6 fellow agents that he was a werewolf and was able to keep it hidden and his worst fears came true when they see Caleb shift and call him a monster.

Lots of twists and turns, drama, intrigue, and romance keep this story moving along so there is never a dull moment, and I found it hard to put down! Don't start reading this if you have something important to do, as I had to keep reading!!

I sure hope that we run into Brielle in a future book as there were a lot of unanswered questions in the book and I want to know what she is!!

Great ending and wrap up and loved their HEA!

"Undercover Wolf" is Paige Tyler's latest story in the STAT series, with both Sawyer Bishop from the MI6 team and Harley Grant from STAT teaming up to solve a case. The two divisions working together was the logical way to go since each of their teams was working on the same case. Their story is action filled with a fast pace that keeps the reader turning pages to find out what is next in their journey. Not only will they bring down the criminals, but what will come next for these two when they realize they have found The One? For readers of the genre, it is 'One' not to be missed. **I was gifted "Undercover Wolf" via NetGalley, leaving my review based on my reading.** 4.5 Stars!

Undercover Wolf by Paige Tyler is the second book in the STAT series. I had not read the first book, but was able to read this as a standalone book.

For being a supernatural crime novel, I had a hard time getting into this book. Since this involves the MI6 and the werewolf equivalent of the FBI/CIA, I was expecting fast paced adventure. Instead, I felt like this book was flat. It wasn't the worst book I have ever read, but I found it kind of boring. I struggled to connect with any of the characters and that made it hard to enjoy.

I'm not completely writing off the series, as I plan to read the first book to see if having that context will help this book. I'm hoping the next book in the series works better for me.

I'm so grateful to Paige Tyler, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Throughout the course of this book there was always a lot going on. The STAT team partnered with MI6. Harley and Sawyer are strong alpha wolves and are drawn to each other the second they meet. Through everything that is going on, they are there for one another especially after they realize their feelings. Once Harley and Sawyer realize what they are to each other they will walk through fire, or worse, for one another.

I thought this was a well written book, and with everything going on Paige Tyler managed to keep it flowing. A lot of authors make this level of action choppy, but this was not. Undercover Wolf reminds me of Live Free or Die Hard it had the same feel and has you on the edge of your seat hoping everyone comes out ok. Highly recommend this book.

3.5 Hearts So here is the deal. I read so many books by Tyler in the SWAT series that two things happened… 1. I kind of got tired of her werewolf stories and 2. I decided to give the STAT series a try because, well, I had read so many of the SWAT series.

And this is the best she has written in a while. I really believed Tyler needed to change her writing completely. I mean the SWAT series was near 20 books. But she came back in this book. The action packed story kept me interested the whole time. The romance was well written and Sawyer is just yummy!

This book is why a reader should always give new series a chance to stand on its own.

Tyler’s second book in her “STAT” series is another start-at-a-run paranormal thriller - with a dash of romance - that took members of the STAT team/pack hopping cities around the world. It’s a gripping, intense, and exhilarating; bringing together the usual motley crew with new allies. Harley Grant is the STAT member who took the spotlight in WOLF UNDERCOVER along with Sawyer Bishop an alpha werewolf with the MI6 team.

Other than the combined team effort to put a stop to a villainous plan, this entry also focusing on Harley coming to term with her werewolf self and Sawyer learning more about werewolf world. This made for interesting journey to follow. I’m thinking a slightly longer and more explored scenes could give more impact to the story. Lots of internal/personal conflicts that relatable IRL as well as in PNR world.

While WOLF UNDERCOVER also followed the myth of the one route, it wasn’t drawn out too much. More action and personal/character development rather than steamy moments. Although I liked how the pair dealing with the issue - without rejecting or making a deal over them overmuch. And I especially loving the bunch of Caleb’s great moments and hoping - really please, author - his would be the next story to tell! 🙃

And I’d also like to point out [the similarity in STAT and the original series in the way the team picked a Brit werewolf into the fold. (hide spoiler)] Not that I begrudge the team of that matter!

✦Review: UNDERCOVER WOLF (STAT Book 2) by Paige Tyler https://wp.me/p3d0RZ-bNV

Genre: Paranormal Romance

I found this STAT installment to be fast paced and exciting from page one. International intrigue, mystery, danger, and a variety of new paranormals to make things interesting. Although the extent of their globetrotting seemed excessive for the situations, it did make for fun reading and gave time for the romance to blossom.

Harley’s continued issue about shifting bothered me. She had been with STAT long enough to be comfortable in a pack, so I couldn’t reconcile her hang-up with her strength of character. Thankfully, I liked everything else about her. She made a great match for Sawyer. Both were strong and accomplished yet yearning for more and not sure what that more was. Sawyer was a handsome Alpha in MI6 – I could easily imagine his delicious accent as he worked operations or seduced Harley. It was nice that although they were clearly “the one” for each other, they took the time to let their relationship build instead of either fighting it or surrendering to it. That gave the romance a nice depth. There wasn’t a lot of sexy time (what there is, was hot!), but with the story blending in, it worked just fine for me.

This is a romantic globe-trotting, special agent wild ride from beginning to end. Loved it.
