Well I tried, I really did, this was just not for me. You should most definitely read book one first, I just had trouble following the story and unfortunately the characters were not enough to capture my interest.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

Let me just say that I don't normally read fantasy romance but there was something that attracted me to the first novel "Animal Instinct". After reading that, I was hooked on this series.

I didn't shed a tear(s) on this story like I did on the first one but this one kept me glued to my e-reader. I had to know how Ethan Grainger (a detective with the Chicago PD) and Nuala Lazare (a Kindred who is pregnant by Ethan's former partner, who is now deceased) would possibly get together! This book did not disappoint.

Like I mentioned earlier, I can't comprehend fantasy romance but here the story takes place in Chicago. It was easy to picture the scenes. I would loved to see this series in a movie!

There was a sexy scene so I would only recommend this to someone over the age of 18. While this could be a stand-alone, I would highly recommend to read the books in order to fully understand the Kindred.

Picking up a short time after the last book, we find the Lazares in cross hairs with evil again. To keep his promise to Shade, Ethan gets involved. A mystery to solve, lives to protect and a budding romance. This is a one sitting read, and a stand alone in the series. You will not be disappointed!

A great follow up to the first book, in fact I think I liked this more, great chemistry, wonderful characters and a great story, lovely at to spend a few hours escaping reality

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

This is the second book in this fun series about the Kindred Lazare Clan who live in The Arc a supernatural world that most humans don't know exists. Detective Ethan Grainger is a human who knows all about this world as his partner Shade was a member of the clan before he was killed Nuala Lazar is the very pregnant partner of Ethan's ex work partner and is due to give birth at any time he hasn't seen much of her since his Shade's death as she blame him for it. When a mutilated body turns up in a park it is no longer an option for Ethan to stay away as this murder has links to The Arc. Nuala is the half sister of Luc who stars in the first book in this series and with his encouragement she decides to move to Shades old home and try to raise her child away from the Arc like Luc's mother did for him This leads to Ethan stepping up to protect Nuala and as they spend more time and attraction grows between them making Nuala question whether she was really in love with Shade. As danger circles Ethan will put his life and soul on the line to keep Nuala and her child safe

This was... interesting. I just have to point out that this is not a standalone, you need to read the first book.
Now... There were some aspects of the book that I liked such as the world building and a lot of the side characters especially Shade's sister and Isabel or isabeou i don't remember well her name but I really like her character. Now I didn't buy the romance here. Is this supposed to be enemies to lovers? Because I don't buy that either. Actually, I didn't like the main characters. She was so whiny and at first it felt like shade was the love of her life and then suddenly he wasn't? And our Male lead.. so you're telling me he's being lusting for his best friend/brother's girlfriend this whole time? Maybe even before he was killed? And now you want me to like him? Okay. Not gonna happen.
This could have been a lot better with different leads because they ruined part of the story for me. Still this was an interesting read.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 2nd book of this series, and i like this better than the 1st one.

Maybe because the characters were already introduce and at the same time, the love story was slow to build. I mean, for me it was slow, but there were rare moments that i was giddy with feelings this book invokes.

Some things were a bit clear on this part. The explanation of some rituals were better.

I do hope on the 3rd book we will get more.

Nuala is a panther shifter, a Kindred, and pregnant. She wants her daughter to live a normal life, even though she’ll be half and half. Ethan is a detective and wants nothing to do with Kindred. His partner, Shade, was killed a couple of months ago and Nuala blames him. Shade is the father of Nuala’s baby and Ethan promised to take care of them. When Ethan investigates the murder of an alderman, he believes it was by a Kindred. While investigating, two more people are killed and Ethan must hurry and find the killer or killers. But also go after the man who took Nuala and her daughter. He is powerful and it’ll take Ethan gaining powers to help defeat him.

A pretty good story, though I was totally confused at the beginning. I think you have to read the first book to know what’s going on. Then Nuala absolutely despised Ethan and then all of a sudden she liked him. Then she was acting hurt because Ethan was not spending more time with her but she didn’t explain that she no longer disliked him. Action, secrets, and sexual tension.

A wonderful follow up to Animal Instinct! I wasn't sold on Ethan in book one but he grew on me throughout Animal Attraction. Without giving any of the plot away, the paranormal activity was mind blowing and I'm really looking forward to book three!

This is definitely book two in a series and should not be read as a standalone. That was my first mistake. There is just way too much backstory to be able to just jump into this one and enjoy it. Honestly ? I did not like this book at all. Sorry but I won't lie just because I got this book for free. It's even hard to write this review because I have so many thoughts and I'm trying not to just dump on this book. I didn't enjoy the writing style, I didn't enjoy the characters, especially the main female character. I didn't feel the connection between the two main characters, I didn't understand why the author just kept throwing so much into it, and by that I mean, they're not just shifters, oh no, they are part Nephilim, they are this and that can do this thing, and perform magic and spells, and teleport and influence people's minds ..... I mean holy cow. In this case, more is not best. The conflict took a lot of turns in an attempt to I don't know, throw you off the scent perhaps and it was unnecessary because guess what, it was all predictable.

Again, I just could not enjoy this book, and I can't recommend it either.

This is such a good book! It grabbed my attention and kept it. The dreams Ethan and Nuala had were scorching! I enjoyed their story. Add in Isabeau and the tattoo twist and you have a riveting read.
