Honestly, I expected nothing from this novel because I hadn't actually heard about it prior to choosing it on here. But I loved it. The suspense was out of this world and I could feel myself in the story! Amazing book!

This book has such an interesting premise and it is what made me want to pick it up. This book has a mix of first and third person writing which really adds to the story line. You get to experience what Jennifer and all of her daughters are thinking and going through.
This book did start a little slow for me, but once it picked up, it really picked up and I finished the last 70% in one night. I don’t want to give too much away, but it had me guessing the entire time. I also loved the ending.
Yes, there were some things that were a little far fetched and the medical stuff wasn’t fully accurate. That being said, I would still recommend this one to thriller/mystery lovers out there.

Jennifer Barnes is living everyone's worst nightmare - she’s been diagnosed with glioblastoma and given only six weeks to live. She's stunned by the diagnosis - and she becomes obsessed with proving her water was poisoned. Her ex is demanding a divorce - did he think she’d be better off dead? By her side in this search are her three very different daughters, each of whom has her own secrets.

I would categorize this novel more as suspense/family-driven drama than a true thriller. It's not an "action-packed novel", but the mystery does unfold in a satisfying way. You have to suspend reality a bit to believe that Jennifer will die in exactly 6 weeks after her diagnosis, but that deadline does give the book a nice sense of urgency.
I'm drawn to sleuth-y mysteries, so seeing Jennifer try to uncover the truth behind her illness was really interesting. These were some good twists that I did not expect - I had an inkling of the big reveal at the end, but it was still crazy to read.
Don’t go into this book expecting to root for anyone - these characters are really unlikeable. Jennifer was not a great mom, her daughters are very screwed up, and her ex is a true villain. That being said, if you like books about dysfunctional families, you should definitely give this one a try!

Review posted to Goodreads and Instagram May 1st.

Six Weeks to Live is a quick read. The chapters are short, alternating in POV between the terminally ill Jennifer and her three daughters. I was intrigued and curios to find out whether or not Jennifer was poisoned (and if so, by whom). There were also some solid twists throughout. But ultimately, I think this book is more of a domestic drama than a psychological thriller, and it just didn’t do it for me.

When Jennifer is diagnosed with a tumor and has just 6 weeks to live, her time is spent questioning who's done it to her. There are lots of twists and turns within the story and I enjoyed the to and froing point of view between the mother and her daughters.
The chapters are short and I found it a quick, easy read.

Jennifer Barnes goes to a routing doctor visit and comes home with heartbreaking news - she has a brain tumor and only six weeks to live. Stunned she goes home and hopes to spend the time she has left with her triplets and twin grandsons. Seems like the approp0riate thing to do. Who would not want to be surrounded by family at the end? But looking back, she begins to believe that she was poisoned.
If it were me, I would want to enjoy my time left, but Jennifer wants to learn the truth. She is determined. She wants to know who and why might have poisoned her. Her blame initially falls on her husband who she is in the process of divorcing. Her three daughters meanwhile are coping with the news in their own way.
Will Jennifer learn the truth? Was she poisoned? Is she wrong? What would you do with only six weeks to live?
I put this in the I enjoyed it while reading it pile. But will I remember this book in months to come? Probably not. But it was a nice way to spend time while stuck home in bed. There is a mystery here, but I would not call this book a thriller or suspenseful. It is a family/domestic drama with a mystery.
With many characters in this book (triplets, twins, etc.), it was easy to keep track of each character due to their distinct personalities. They all have their own issues and agendas. The story does have some twists and a revelation, but it is not of the jaw dropping kind. Will some figure it out? I believe so. But it is still enjoyable.
You will have to read to find out if Jennifer is correct. Will she get closure? You will have to read to find out!
Will this book be for you? Many are enjoying it more than I did, so I encourage you to read their reviews as well.
This is my first book by this author, I am open to reading more of her books in the future.

3.5 stars!
What would you do if you were sick and found out you had 6 weeks to live? I imagine I would be off at an island with my family. But what if you were convinced you were poisoned?
I really loved I’ll Never Tell so I was eagerly awaiting this one. But it didn’t quite land for me. That being said, I still found it entertaining and there were plenty of surprises and twists along the way. Alternating chapters between Jennifer and her adult triplet daughters - I found each voice to be unique, a bit heartbreaking, and the ending to be quite shocking.
This is a great beach read. So head out to the sunshine and grab a glass of wine, desert - don’t forget a fork ;) and enjoy untangling every last secret.
Thank you NetGalley and Atria for the ARC!

This is a story of a woman who finds out she has six weeks to live. She is confident her cancer is not an accident and someone poisoned her. She wants to find out the truth before her time is up.
Full of twists and turns, this book will keep you on your toes. I was completely surprised by the ending twist. It’s a great book for anyone who loves dramas.

At the start of this novel, main character Jennifer is informed that she has an advanced brain tumor and has only about six weeks to live. The book alternates between the POVs of Jennifer and her adult triplet daughters over the next six weeks. Jennifer becomes convinced that she was poisoned, perhaps by her ex-husband, and other characters have secrets of their own as well, so there is a fair amount of possibly unreliable narration going on. I'd say this book is mostly a character drama with some psychological suspense - it's a very slow burn for most of the book, until near the end when some crazy twists start happening. I'm a long time fan of Catherine McKenzie and thought her last two books in particular (You Can't Catch Me and I'll Never Tell) were especially great, but I have to say that this one wasn't quite as good - the characters and final twists were just not quite believable enough for me. But I still enjoyed it and definitely would recommend it to anyone who enjoys character-driven suspense novels. 3.5 stars.

This was an interesting concept. The narrator was unreliable due to her illness so everything was questionable. The obvious perp is the husband but that would be too neat. So who is it really or is it him? The answer of who and why will surprise you. There is more than just a mystery in this book. It is also about familial relationships which gives it more depth.

This book was a total surprise read for me! I did not see what was coming the whole time. I really enjoyed this!

This was such a good read! Fast-paced, so interesting, and unpredictable. I love this author and this novel did not disappoint!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for gifting me a digital ARC of the latest thriller by Catherine McKenzie - one of my favorite authors! 4.5 stars for a book that will keep you guessing until the end!
Jennifer is the mother of young adult triplets and is separated from her husband, Jake. She goes to the doctor after not feeling well and gets the news that she has inoperable brain cancer and only 6 weeks to live. Stunned, she finds older blood work that shows her cancer may have been caused by poisoning. Her thoughts immediately go to Jake, who has been trying to get Jennifer to agree to a divorce for over a year. When she tells her daughters what she fears, they don't believe her. Each of the girls is also processing the news that their mom is dying in much different ways. There just isn't much time left to find out all the answers.
Less is more going into this one - there are plenty of characters and each has a different motive and secret. Lots of interesting family dynamics in this book - everything from the girls being minor celebrities when they were young, to a grandmother with mental health issues, to divorce, sibling issues, money issues, on and on! Great read!

Wow. This book! It honestly started off slow for me and where I usually finish a book within a day or 2, it took me about a week to get through the first half. Im quick to not finish a book if it doesn’t suck me in but I was intrigued and the story was good so I always came back to it. I think my dislike for the characters put me off a little or maybe they just took awhile to fully develop. Anyway, once I hit about 55% the whole game changed and I finished the book within hours. My jaw literally dropped at one point and the twists were so unexpected and insane, in the best ways ever. The ending was great although I wish it had played out differently with the other characters knowing more. This book actually ended up being one of the best books I’ve read in awhile and it’s a story that will stick with me.

Ok this reads straight like a lifetime movie and I AM HERE FOR IT! Wow. I am still just shocked by this, It has all the ingredients to make an amazing thriller and it did not let me down.

This was an ok thriller. I thought the writing was a little cheesy and the plot was somewhat unbelievable, But if you're looking for a quick, escapist read this book will probably be just what you're looking for.

Woah - what a premise! A woman, recently given a terminal cancer diagnosis, endeavors to discover if someone tried to hasten her meeting with the Grim Reaper by poisoning her, all before her limited time runs out. If the premise drew me in (which it certainly did!), the characters are what made me stay. McKenzie has peopled her novel with characters that add to the suspense of the work and are drawn as real people, complete with unique foibles of their own. This is a page-turner that readers won't be disappointed in!

I typically adore Catherine McKenzie's novels, but Six Weeks to Live felt very contrived to me. Not sure if the book has already been picked up by a streaming service and this is more of a script, but it feels childish and is far from the author's standard writing style.
Pros: Short chapters, quick-paced, entertaining read for a plane ride.
Cons: All of the characters are annoying, the ending is easy to guess, and it feels like a YA novel, but not in a good sense.
If you need a distraction, this novel might work. If you are looking for something better to read, I would say pass on this particular one and try one of the author's older works.

At forty-eight, Jennifer should be enjoying the life she has led. She was almost a medical miracle with giving birth to triplets, no less when IVF and all those other ways weren't as accessible. Jennifer and her then-husband, who she is in the process of divorcing did it naturally. And if there was any doubt, one of the triplets had twins.
Yes, Jennifer had raised wonderful daughters all with their own lives and careers. Jennifer should be enjoying her grandchildren, starting a new life, and being oh, so very happy for the opportunity.
Instead, Jennifer just came back from a doctor's visit and has been informed of news that would make no one in their right mind happy...She has been told she has a terminal brain tumor—and only six weeks left to live.
How's that for a shocker.
Jennifer decides to be with family, that's what she should do...and while she is doing that, certain things come to light. Like her medical records show over a year ago, when she wasn't feeling so hot, it was due to her having too much lead in her bloodwork. Lead in her bloodwork, why...Could it be she had been poisoned.
Well, Jennifer is sure it is her ex-husband but she will have to find the evidence to prove it.
Take this ride and see if we ever find out what is what...nothing and no one is who they seem.

I knew it! Then I didn’t, but then I knew it again! This novel was such a ride!
Six weeks to live started off with quite a bang and had me hooked the entire time. Within the first chapter we find out that Jennifer Barnes, a mother of triplets, has an inoperable brain tumor and has about six weeks to live. Pretty sad, but then things get a little intense, Jennifer learns that she had lead poisoning a year ago and thinks it’s her (ex)husbands doing. She recruits her daughters; a scientist, a medical student, and daddies favorite to help her figure it all out. As the story progresses it becomes clear that there is major family dysfunction, but the fact that the daughters come together seems like a good sign, at first.
Catherine McKenzie did an amazing job; the plot was well thought of and the book itself was very quick but thrilling. The alternating from the POV of Jennifer and the triplets added to the read. Additionally, she spoke about tough topics like Cancer, post-partum depression, mental health very well.
I know who the culprit was, but I did appreciate the reasoning that was revealed at the end. This book had me hooked and I am defiantly going to get my hands on as many of Catherine McKenzie’s books as possible.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys mystery thrillers with a little extra.
