When Jennifer Barnes went to the doctor to get her test results, she wasn't expecting to receive news that she had terminal brain cancer and that she had just six weeks to live. She calls her daughters, triplets, to be by her side. Emily is the daughter most like her, not only in looks but also because Emily got pregnant in med school just like Jennifer did. Aline is the brilliant scientist who has the most contentious relationship with Jennifer and Miranda is the one whose life is a mess and is back living at home with Jennifer. Jennifer struggles with the diagnoses and thinks back to a doctor visit a year ago and discovers extremely high levels of lead in her system. She has been poisoned. Jennifer believes it is her estranged husband, her daughter's father, that wanted her dead. Now she has six weeks to prove it, while taking the secrets of her past to the grave with her. Will Jennifer be able to solve her own murder before it is too late?

Six Weeks To Live has to be one of the most clever books I have read in a long time. The concept of a woman solving her own murder is unique in the psychological thriller genre. Jennifer Barnes has a complicated relationship with her daughters. As most mothers do with their daughters. However, there are some secrets that Jennifer would do anything to keep from her daughters. I was really torn between believing that somebody poisoned Jennifer and believing that it was Jennifer's way of coping with the news that she was dying. I didn't really care for any of Jennifer's daughters. They came across as incredibly self-involved. Even after their mother's diagnosis. The truth really surprised me, both from the past and from the present. - CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS

Bottom Line - A book like Six Weeks To Live doesn't come around very often. A unique plot and a surprising ending makes for an superb read. The very definition of page-turner.

I didn't really love the story for this book. I have enjoyed the authors previous books. I think I went into this thinking it would be different than the title suggested.

Domestic drama and suspense novel that definitely was a good read! I went into it thinking it was going to be more psychological suspense, but it was not.

Honestly, this book could be a movie! That is what I kept picturing in my mind as I was reading it-a movie playing out on a big screen before me.

The book is told from the POV of the main character, Jennifer, and her three daughters. I usually do not prefer different POVs in books, but this all streamed together smoothly, and was not confusing as some books with alternating POVs can be. The author did a really nice job with character development, plot, and making sure that each character had their own distinct voice.

It is definitely a good book to read, and I am glad I did, but it did not blow me away or have me on the edge of my seat. I am glad that I read it, but it was not a page turner.

The one thing that I really despised was the word “fork” and how many times it was used instead of the f-bomb!! This drove me nuts and I wanted to shut the book and end it several times because of that word alone.

I can't really use the word enjoy with this book since it was sad on so many levels. The book is well written, though, with an intriguing storyline and strong characters. I liked Jennifer and kept hoping for an impossible ending that never came.

The twists were well done and kept the suspense up but I was sad at the eventual reveal.

Six weeks to live

A domestic/family thriller in which 48 year old, mom of 3, Jennifer, is diagnosed with a brain tumour and told she has only 6 weeks to live. Jennifer vows to enjoy the time she has left with her family but when she discovers that her cancer could be a result of poisoning she determines to find out who her murderer is.

I really felt for Jennifer and despite her previous struggles, which come to light throughout the book, I still liked her character. The adult daughters on the other hand I was not a fan of. The triplets all had very distinct strong personalities but their selfish behaviour and terrible attitudes appalled me.

Domestic thrillers can be a bit hit or miss for me but I really enjoyed this one and the ending gave me goosebumps.

I’ve only read one of this author’s previous books but I’ll definitely be checking them out now.

This isn't the best thriller I've ever read, but it is better than many. It was a good summer read. I enjoyed the story and had a hard time putting it down.

A nicely written book. It certainly had it’s twists and turns and a shocker at the end! Glad I continued to read it to find out the end. I did find at times it dragged in my opinion

I love psychological thrillers! Six Weeks to Live did not disappoint. The storyline was different from anything I’ve read. Catherine McKenzie provided plenty of twists and turns in this story. I highly recommend.

Six weeks to live kept me guessing. When Jennifer 48 year old mother of triplets girls is diagnosed with brain cancer. Doctors give Jennifer six weeks to live. So many lies was interesting to see all the pieces together.

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this digital arc. All opinions are my own.

This story is about a woman who has brain cancer and is given 6 weeks to live. She sets out to right the wrongs of her past and also uncover the cause of her disease, which she believes was inflicted upon her by someone. It’s told from the varying perspectives of her and her triplet daughters, which at first I found confusing. As their back story is revealed it became easier to keep them straight. I wasn’t sure how the book would turn out and it kept me guessing until the end. 3.5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Wow! This was an incredible story that I absolutely devoured in one day. I really did not guess where the author was going to take it, but I was pleasantly surprised. This reminded me a little of Darling Rose Gold and it was just as great as that book too. I am very interested in reading this author's backlist because she knocked it out of the park with this one.

I thought that this book was ok but not great. I loved her last novel so I was a little disappointed. I didn’t think it was that thrillery.

Jennifer finds out that she is dying of brain cancer and she has 6 weeks to live. The shock is enough to share her but then she suspects that someone poisoned her. Her main suspect being her husband who has been nagging her for a divorce. With help of her three daughters (triplets) she is coping with her last few weeks of life, and trying to find out evidence of her poisoning. Lot of secrets from the past are raked up, and it’s a wild ride.
While reading the book, I felt I was going to rate it only 3, but the end made me bump up my rating. My problem with the book was not being able to relate to characters. Jennifer was supposed to be dying and her daughters were supposed to be losing their mother, but the emotional aspect of they dynamic was missing.
But towards the end, things make a lot more sense and the twists hit you out of the left field. I was not able to guess the twists at all and they were pleasantly surprising.
Over all I loved the thriller aspect of the book, I would have liked to feel more emotional through the story but the plot and ending made up for all that it lacked!
Recommend reading for fans of mystery, thriller, domestic and psychological thrillers.

What a wild ride this book was! This was a psychological thriller and domestic suspense perfectly wrapped up in one story.
Jennifer, the mother of triplet girls - two identical twins, with another fraternal sister, has just found out she has terminal brain cancer and only has 6 weeks to live. When she sees a lab result from a year ago showing acute lead poisoning she knows for a fact that someone did this too her. But how? And why?
Jake, her ex, seems the reasonable choice. But as Jennifer’s own secrets start to unravel it becomes clear that there could be a lot more people with reason from revenge.
I loved that this was told from different perspectives on a linear timeline. We had Jennifer, Aline (identical twin 1), Miranda (identical twin 2) and Emily (the last and fraternal triplet). Since the story was centered around the four of them and their relationships with each other I knew the answers to the story lied there. I thought McKenzie did a wonderful job of unraveling the secrets that each kept.
There were two hints that I caught as to who the real culprit was, but I wasn’t 100% sure and found myself needing to read the rest of the story to get through it as fast as possible.
I liked who the poisoner turned out to be - it felt right. However, the ending left me unsatisfied. Even though we got the whole story, not everyone else in the book did. There was definitely justice in the injustice, but I just wanted the whole truth to come out to everyone.

I absolutely loved this book! Jennifer is the mother of triplets who accidentally got pregnant while in Medical School and is never able to go back. Jennifer finds out she has cancer and only six weeks to live. Jennifer believes her cancer is caused from lead poisoning she didn't realize she had. This is not the end it is just the beginning of a twisting, winding mystery that will keep you guessing!

If you are looking for a fun exciting read grab this right now!!!

Six Weeks to Live is a gripping family drama that will keep readers guessing while examine mother-daughter relationships throughout. Jennifer Barnes is a mother of three triplet daughters and has an estranged husband, so when she finds out she has a terminal brain tumor that will kill her in six weeks, there are mixed reactions. And when further testing reveals she may have been poisoned a year earlier, she’s determined to find out who the culprit is. She clearly suspects her estranged husband, but when her daughters don’t support the idea, she begins to wonder if it was someone else who did the deed or is this all in her head? The writing is fast-paced and suspenseful. The relationships are complex and realistic. The ending is a surprise entirely. Highly recommended if you enjoy family dramas with suspense mixed in.

After being diagnosed with a brain tumor, Jennifer is determined to find out what led to this and her best guess is that someone poisoned her. As the story unravels, everyone has a motive. Told from multiple points of view, you learn everyone has their own secrets and issues. This is one very dysfunctional family!

I struggled being able to connect/relate with the characters, especially the main character, Jennifer. But then again, I really didn't like any of the family members. As a mom, I'd want to make the best of what time I had left. Her obsession to find out how this happened wasted so much of her time and further divided her family. I grew so frustrated and angry at the characters' lack of communication and lies. This quote, "We all lie in little ways, big ways. That's how you get through life." summed them up nicely.

Read this book if you enjoy family drama and surprise endings!

Thank you NetGalley, Atria and Catherine McKenzie for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Not going to lie but this is not what I expected from Catherine McKenzie. This wasn't really a thriller at all, more of a book about family drama and secrets. I guess I went into it with the wrong expectations so maybe that's why I wasn't as invested but I thought it was just okay. Thanks so much to Netgalley and Atria books for an advanced copy of this book!
