Pretty good book. What would you do if you found out you had 6 weeks to live? Would you focus on spending time with your family, do things you’ve always wanted to do, or would you try to figure out who killed you? It’s engaging and peaked my interest. I would recommend this book to others

In this domestic suspense novel, a mother is given heartbreaking news when diagnosed with terminal cancer. However, as she pours over the test results, she discovers something that makes her believe she might be suffering from being poisoned (not the accidental kind). The doctor reveals that her time is short and she needs to enjoy the six weeks that are left.
As the time ticks down, she starts to get her things in order, but the hunt for her killer remains forefront in her mind. She is convinced her conniving estranged husband might be to blame, but wants to prove it before she dies. The reader is taken on an interesting journey. Secrets are revealed slowly, and red herrings are sprinkled throughout, but it is the revenge taken at a moment’s notice that brings this suspenseful thriller to life.
I loved that this book hooked me from the first chapter and kept pulling me along with just the right amount of suspense and intrigue to keep me pushing through to the climatic ending. Bravo to Catherine McKenzie. This was a clever and unique story that kept me well entertained on a warm summer day.
My Rating is 5 out of 5 stars because... I love reading books about people caught in a psychological mind game, books with mysterious links to family secrets, sisterhood, brave women, determined women, strong women, motherhood, and books that remind me to question medical advice.
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Publishing/Atria Books for allowing me to read a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I could easily see this novel being developed for the big screen. Loved it.

Jennifer has just been diagnosed with a glioblastoma and given about six weeks to live. Her triplets are shocked. Her ex-husband looks gleeful. Her mother can barely handle the pain of hearing that her daughter is dying. Meanwhile the situation and relationships are unraveling.
Told from multiple perspectives, those of Jennifer and each of her daughters, this story is a complex web of personal angst, interpersonal aggressions and deceit.
I found this a quick, engaging read. The characters are mostly troubled and anxious but for good reasons.. The different narratives give the story depth. The mystery that slowly unfolds is captivating and the mental health issues depicted with authenticity.

Interesting and fast paced. A stunning thriller that follows a woman who has terminal cancer but also believes strongly someone is trying to poison her. Multiples characters and POVs throughout the story create a great deal of tension and suspense- with some characters more likable than others. A page turner and a fast, suspenseful summer read. Parts of the book feel a bit overexaggerated and unbelievable, but the ending manages to deliver some solid twists and turns

Jennifer Barnes receives the shocking news that she has a terminal brain tumor at age 48, and only 6 weeks left to live. Jennifer decides to spend the rest of her time with her adult daughters and her grandchildren, but when Jennifer discovers she may have been poisoned a year earlier, she becomes determined to find out the truth while she still has time.
This book was full of so many twists and turns. It is told in the point of view of Jennifer and each of her triplet daughters. (I do love an unreliable narrator!) There is some animosity between the characters and as the story unravels, so do secrets from their pasts. The characters are all flawed, but I still found myself rooting for them, even with their poor decisions.
This plot was very different from anything I have read recently. It was not the most realistic book, but it made for a very entertaining read. And the conclusion left me shocked—I think I actually gasped aloud! Be sure to grab this book if you like psychological thrillers and family drama. It’s a fun ride!

I always enjoy Catherine's books and get extremely happy when she releases another one! This one did not disappoint at all -- in fact - having read about half of her books -- this one is definitely among the top!! I related to the main character Jennifer throughout the whole book -- a mom of girl triplets, a wife who is abandoned by her husband, a boyfriend break up and then finding out she has a terminal illness. If you are a domestic thriller fan -- you will not want to miss this one!!

This book starts with a bang and a lot of promise. Sadly, it goes downhill rapidly as the plot becomes more and more insipid and the characters are shown to be conniving egotists.
I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

A thank you to Netgalley for sharing the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Not exactly mind-blowing in the way that I hoped it would be, but it did keep me engaged and consistently entertained well enough. The characters were interesting, some more than others, some more likeable, some not so much. It's not terribly difficult to discern the ending, but not so early on as to leave you wondering, well, what was the point of reading that? Will have an audience and make for a good summer beach read.

This book definitely put the "psych" in psychological! I really loved the premise of a legitimate countdown to the main character's demise - part of me was wondering the entire time if she really was going to pass away from this mysterious brain tumor or if it was some kind of game she was playing. McKenzie did a great job weaving in just enough characters to keep me guessing the entire time about the outcome! And wow was it mind blowing when the truth was revealed! I won't give spoilers, but if you like shocking twists & engrossing psychological thrillers, then be sure to grab "Six Weeks to Live" for the pool or beach this summer!

DNF at 48%. After reading and loving FORGOTTEN last year, I was really excited to be granted an e-ARC of this novel. It sounded creepy (in the best way) and intriguing. But, what I found was a lot of family drama and unlikeable characters. Jennifer's ADULT children were very immature, which took away from the mystery and suspense of the plot.

OOOOoooohoohoohoo
Way to go Catherine McKenzie. That was a doozy.
This book follows a woman who is dying of cancer, she has 6 weeks to live...and she swears she has been poisoned, but she is also losing her mind so no one believes her.
Nice quick read, multiple POVs following the woman and her set of triplets, loads of "what-ifs"
Loved it!
Thanks to NetGalley for this copy!!!!!!!

Six Weeks to Live is the best possible example of a dysfunctional family. This is not your typical family history.
I was trying to put all the pieces together and I failed terribly! Twists and turns and that ending, never saw it coming! If you enjoy a good suspense, this ones for you. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

After discovering a brain tumor, and given Six Weeks to Live, Jennifer quickly realizes she's been poisoned and sets out to uncover the truth before time runs out.
This thriller has everything: murder (maybe), suspense and lots of twists and turns. Just when you think you have it figured out, something else comes to light. Quick, fast paced read with a very surprising ending, that was a quite unexpected.
Thank You Atria and NetGalley for the gifted e-galley.

So, if you're in the mood for a sad book where you kind of root for the main character but you also kind of don't, this could be the book for you. If you like your emotions to be wishy washy and you like books with characters you love to hate, this could be the book for you. If you enjoy finding out that you were wrong about someone the whole time, this could be the book for you. If mental illness and how it affects those who have it and those around them interests you, this could be the book for you. If you like to read the last page and take a big sigh or relief because it all turned out ok, this is DEFINITELY not the book for you.
Fairly well written, interesting story line, not very lovable characters (but they were intriguing), fast paced, easy read, unsatisfying ending...

This book was a fun read! The layout of the book with the countdown of weeks left was a smart way to write the book. I love how we start off diving straight into the premise of the story. The family as a whole was strange, non of them were necessarily likable characters, and Aline who Ithought was one of the worst people ended up being my favorite by the end of the book. I loved how much of a cliché the father was, I think the author has a lot of fun at his expense. There book was super enjoyable and a quick read which I like. There were a few twists about Jennifer's past that I did not see coming. I did figure out who the killer was pretty easily but the book was still enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this book.

First of all, I want to say thank you to Net Galley for the ARC of this great book. I really enjoyed this book, I connected with the characters right from the start and felt their pain and sorrow throughout the book. What would you do if you were a mother and just found out you only had 6 weeks to live? As a mother myself I connected with Jennifer as she received this devastating news and tied to find out to the bitter end why she received the test results she did. The twist of the story was also interesting as I have heard of this in the past (trying not to give any spoilers here) and can't imagine going through this myself. It was a great book that kept me entertained from the first page to the last and kept me wanting to continue reading late into the night. I will definitely be interested in reading more from this author.

48 year old Jennifer Barnes discovers that she has brain cancer and only has six weeks to live. Upon hearing her diagnosis, she becomes suspicious that poisoning may have led to her cancer and she uses her six weeks to try to figure the mystery out.
This book definitely had an interesting premise that hooked me right from the beginning. I would say that the ending was pretty surprising and the book definitely took some twists and turns. The story is told from several different points of view and I do generally like books written this way.
A couple of the issues I had with the book were that the writing was a little bit amateurish and all of the characters were unlikable, including the main character. One of the character says “Fork” all the time instead of the F word and that sort of drove me nuts. I would say the ending saved this book and brought it into three star territory for a basic average suspense/family drama/psychological thriller if you are looking for a good quick easy read.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC. Review published on goodreads and facebook.

Jennifer discovers that she has brain cancer caused by lead poisoning. She has 6 weeks left to live. Can she figure out who did it?
This was a thriller that dragged on forever. The chapters were far too long, and the ending was entirely predictable. The book contains a set of triplets and twins. I still don't even remember all of their names.
This book was such a disappointment. This last year, I had a partial heart block with more than 2,000 abnormal beats daily. When I closed my eyes at night, I wasn't quite sure that I was going to open them in the morning. One of the things that I learned is that we are all dying in some way. We all march on towards death, but you never really know the day of your exit. On the way to an appointment, I could be hit by a car or a plane could land on my house. No one knows for certain their exact time of exit. What I can control for the most part is how I feel about my life. Are there days when I have a pity party? Yes, absolutely. Are there days when I am frustrated? You bet. But with my remaining days, I choose joy and happiness. I try not to dwell on things that I can't do anymore. With the time I have left, I am giving myself the gift of happy days. Jennifer apparently never did that. She complains constantly about how she has been wronged and pushing on an investigation in her final days. The best revenge is a good life. Move on and live your life to the fullest. Haters will know that they missed out on a good thing. Jennifer though is always the victim.
There was one passage in the book that boiled my skin. It was about how cancer causes people to die, not like mental illness. Whoa. Um no. Mental illness is just as serious as cancer. In fact if you are 15-34, you are about 3X more likely to die from suicide than cancer. That's right. We spend all this time worried about cancer when the bigger risk is suicide, mental health. Books like this are not helping to move the needle on educating people about mental health; that it is OK to ask for help. There is no shame in saying, "No, I'm not ok." And it is serious.

Thank you to Netgalley, Atria Books and Catherine McKenzie for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Jennifer Barnes, mother to grown triplet daughters, goes to her doctor because of headaches she's been having. She finds out that she has a Glioblastoma, stage 4 brain cancer and only six weeks left to live. Later, when she's looking over paperwork that she was given, she notices a spike in her lead levels from the year before. She begins to suspect that someone has poisoned her - namely her husband, who has separated from her and wants to marry his girlfriend. Did someone poison Jennifer or is it all in her head?
Six Weeks to Live has an atypical premise which is nice to see in an otherwise saturated genre. There are a few details, such as Jennifer having exactly six weeks to live from the time of her diagnosis, that are a little farfetched, but if you're willing to just go with it, you won't regret reading this book.
The book has alternating POVs from Jennifer and her daughters, Emily, Aline and Miranda. I thought the characters of Jennifer and her daughters were nicely fleshed out, given there are essentially four main characters and each has their own unique voice and personality. Something happened at the end of the book that shocked me - I'm not usually surprised or left speechless. I just wasn't expecting it. I think that's the a big part of the reason I gave this book 4 stars.
Six Weeks to Live was a quick, enjoyable read for me. I easily finished it in one sitting. I will definitely read more of Catherine McKenzie's work and this is an easy recommended read for me. Readers who enjoy psychological suspense, general fiction, women's fiction, book club reads and stories about the inner workings of families will enjoy this book.

Recommended to readers who like a family dram mysterious with a twinge of darkness.
Sipping thoughts: What would you do if you were told you only had six weeks to live? I can think of a ton of things that I would want to do but not necessarily sure if I wouldn’t be in such despair preventing me from doing those things. I enjoyed every bit of this book. It reads more like a thrilling psychological family drama with a dark unsuspected twist. A very cool aspect the author added was that every chapter begins with a title of a song. I am not sure why or where it comes from, because I don’t remember seeing a tie in, but I loved it, nonetheless. I think if you read this you will be pleasantly surprised at the turn this book takes and the gasping-induced ending.
