Catching up on my requests.. did not realize this was a sneak peek when requested. I see high potential for this novel!

Thank you NetGalley for the sample reading of The Queen’s Assassin. I look forward to borrowing or buying the full version to finish the book. This and the rest of series will now be on my never ending TBR.

Absolutely loved this book by Melissa de la Cruz! What a perfect ending and honestly better than the last two in the series. This was a great mixture of romance and adventure to tie it all together.

The writing was really simple and I could guess the plot twist... the characters were written well but I think Cal's assasin job was really underplayed.

Thank you for approval of this excerpt! I have not yet read the full novel but I truly did enjoy what I did read. The story seems dynamic and intriguing! Definitely makes me want to read more! I might have to move The Queen's Assassin higher up on my TBR :D

With this stunning title and cover, who would not be majestically drawn in and intrigued? Luckily, the inner plot and characters reflect the beauty of the outside of this book through and incredibly engaging read.

I definitely think that this book had a lot of potential. It is a great read if you're a fan of the YA genre or if you like books by SJM or Victoria Aveyard. However, the plot was simplistic and not at all complicated or challenging. I found that the plot was easy to guess and that the writer did. a lot of showing and not telling when it came to writing about her characters.

I didn’t realize this was a sample until I was approved for the Galley. The book didn’t hold my interest enough to look for the full copy to read. I guess it worked in my favor that I only had a sample.

Since I only read a sample, I don’t think it is fair for me to give this book a bad review. It is possible the book could pick up before the end. As far as what they chose for the sample, I don’t think the sample ended with a strong cliffhanger. I’m not sure this is what is needed to get a customer to purchase the book.

I received the galley from NetGalley.

I did not mean to request this...so Oop sorry to NetGalley and the author. . Did not realize it was just a sample. But okay, here is my short review of what I thought of this book...

- I have read two books by this author...jo and Laurie and the descendants.
Both are good books, so thought I would give this sample book a try.
- it was okay, it did not scream anything special that would make me want to actually pick this book up and read it....maybe if someone gave this to me free as an PHYSICAL copy, I would give a try because why not

But it’s not like I’m going to go try to look for it.

Thank you NetGalley and the author//publisher for giving me this free arc sample of this book for exchange for a honest review from me. :)

This preview was very promising for the rest of the story; it drew me in and it scetched an interesting world. I do fear that the story will be like a lot of other fantasy books - like Throne of Glass for example. This preview hasn't made me feel certain that it won't be like other books yet, but maybe the book as a whole will change my mind.

Although I typically love fantasy and strong female characters, this preview just didn't grab me. Shadow isn't very compelling as a main character - she falls into the tired and poorly-executed trope of being special and highly trained, yet is nearly murdered twice in the span of the first three chapters. She doesn't seem terribly intelligent and overall acts like a petulant child, De la Cruz also seems to underestimate her readers - it's clear from the beginning that Shadow is the princess, and the clues in the first few chapters alone are about as subtle as a brick to the face, yet I'm expecting there will be a big ~reveal~ at the end of the story.

I did enjoy the world-building and would have liked to read more stories set in the space that had more interesting characters. From what I've read so far, the story promises to be fairly formulaic in the vein of fantasy-romance YA. Not for me.

This was such an interesting book. The tension between the main characters, the sparks later, and that cliffhanger!

Intriguing preview for what will surely be an exhilarating YA fantasy read. Mellisa de la Cruz is a skilled writer in this genre and sub-genres. I look forward to reading the full novel and delving deeper into this world.

I was excited to start reading this book because I heard great things about the author but The Queen's Assassin let me down. I was expecting more but it was just like any other fantasy books I have read. My expectations were let down. I thought it was very hard to get into and continue to read. Some may really like this book but it wasn't for me.

This book drew me in from the first sentence, and I can’t wait to read more of it. I love the universe the author created, with enough magic to fuel a fantasy, but also enough familiar elements to ground the reader.

A good sample of what promises to be nice solid fantasy with all the expected elements (royals, lost kings, magic, witches and quests). I am definitely going to buy the full version and look forward to it.

I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I will read any and everything Melissa de la Cruz comes out with. I am a long time fan from one of her first series and this is no different. It is amazing. 10/10 would recommend.

Thank you kindly to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this review copy.

I loved the Blue Blood series by Melissa De La Cruz and was thrilled when I got the opportunity to read this story!

If The Queen’s Assassin has a plot alongside the ones you can indeed find in Sarah J Maas stories like the synopsis boasts it is also very different from said stories.

It’s a fast read set in a fantasy universe where magic has become rare, sometimes even forbidden.

You have the “goods” or at least the Renovians are the ones we are rooting for as they’ve had their magic stolen and have been oppressed for centuries and the “bads”, the Aphrasian who stole the source of magic while withholding the Deian Scrolls.

You follow two heroes as the book is told from a double POV.

Caledon or Cal is young but still a gifted assassin serving the queen of Renovia, aided by the Guilde.

Shadow is a young girl of eighteen, who has been trained secretly her whole life by her aunts and her mother, hoping to become a member of the Guilde.

I don’t want to spoil the plot or anything but as the blurb says, Cal and Shadow will have to face an unexpected danger that will end up with Cal killing someone and being sent to prison for it.

Shadow has been called to assist her mother at the palace but does not want to play the beautiful doll! She wants to be a warrior! To work for the Guilde and use magic!

She will ally with Cal and convince him to take her as an apprentice and work for the Queen.
