Present Danger is the first in a new suspense series by Elizabeth Goddard. We meet Detective Jack and Special Agent Terra in remote Montana in a murder investigation with so many twists and turns it kept me guessing!

Years ago, Jack left Terra to head to Quantico, convinced that he wasn’t good enough for her. Now she’s the Forest Service Special Agent, specializing in crimes involving artifacts and Jack is back in Montana working as a detective in the local sheriff’s office and despite their history, they need to work together to solve the murder of a well-known local man. But the investigation is far from routine and with danger around every corner, Jack and Terra have to rely on each other and work through their complicated history (both together and in their families) to bring the killer to justice.

I really enjoyed this story and read it quickly. I enjoyed the mystery that kept me guessing. I enjoyed the characters and all the complicated history between Jack and Terra. I’m looking forward to learning more about Terra’s two friends and their shared childhood trauma in the next two books.

Thank you to Revell and Netgalley for providing a copy for me to read and review. My opinions are my own.

It is 3:30 a.m. and I just finished reading Present Danger by Elizabeth Goddard. This is a long book but every word was necessary to build the plot, the characters, the suspense and the HEA ending for Terra and Jack. There were so many loose threads in this book that I honestly wondered if this author could weave all the parts into a believable story. The research required to write this novel had to be a massive undertaking. Yet, she educated this reader regarding illegal trafficking of stolen artifacts through her highly entertaining and suspenseful book.
This author has written a beautiful tale about second chances and I look forward to reading her next novel.

A thrilling suspense packaged together with a reunion romance, Present Danger promises to keep you up late at night.

Goddard’s story hooked me from the beginning. The mystery is engaging, filled with plot twists. This author can definitely keep you on your toes.

Jack and Terra have almost palpable chemistry, which provides plenty of romantic tension. Goddard gives you plenty of glimpses into their past to give an idea of their romance and how they’ve grown. I loved seeing them work together and slowly begin to open up to one another. And I especially loved how the minor characters complicated the plot. Goddard throws in a lot of red herrings to keep you guessing. I didn’t see the final reveal coming, but once all the pieces came together, it made so much sense, I had to keep myself from smacking my forehead.

And for those who read her last series, you’ll find a nice cameo from one of the McKade brothers. I myself got a little giddy.

While Never Let Go is still my favorite Goddard book, Present Danger captured my attention and earned its place as one of the best romantic suspense novels I’ve read this year.

A suspenseful story with a tortured hero and a strong heroine, “Present Danger”, by Elizabeth Goddard (Revell, balances mystery, romance, and family drama in a beautiful and dangerous setting.
Jack and Terra are wonderful characters, their shared past and history so nicely interwoven with the present events. I loved how they both showed emotional growth, learning from experience, being tolerant and slowly forged a new relationship. The way they found closure and their way back to each other was very realistic.
Jack’s confidence and assuredness in his job contrasts with the emotional baggage he carries from his past and gives his character an enticing vulnerability.
I enjoyed the action, the location, the secondary characters, and the family and friendship relations and I hope Owen, Terra’s brother, will get his own story.

'The difference your life takes can often come down to one decision, one moment in time.'

Wow: This book grabs your attention from the very beginning and doesn't let go! Having previously read Elizabeth Goddard's Uncommon Justice Series, I knew I was going to enjoy this book, but it exceeded my expectations. Present Danger (Rocky Mountain Courage, Book 1) begins with a pilot crashing his Piper Cherokee plane 'Ole Blue, while trying to deliver a package. Where is the pilot now? What was in the package? Then a body is discovered. Was it murder? Did he fall while hiking? Is it related to the plane crash? These are questions that Detective Jack Turner and Special Agent Terra Conners (who have a romantic past) will try to find answers to. Along the way, they encounter stolen artifacts and more danger as they navigate toward the edge-of-your-seat mind blowing conclusion.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good mystery with lots of twists and turns, a second chance romance, and a totally unexpected conclusion!

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

Secrets abound in the shadows of Stone Wolf Mountain, and I was completely invested in trying to unwind the thread of clues. Each one steered me in one direction only to yank me back, raising even more questions. I couldn’t put it down.
Looking for sisters lost on the mountain Jack discovers a body and comes face to face with Terra the woman he loved and lost. As danger closes in around them, will they be able to overcome the past to grab hold of the future, or will their second chance be cut short?
I loved this book and highly recommend it.
This book was given to me courtesy of Revell a division Baker Publishing House through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This book took me awhile to get into. I think part of it was that It had characters from a previous book, and was referencing things that had happened, which I had completely forgotten about. Next book in the series I will re read this book before reading book #2 so everything is fresh in my mind! Other than that this book was a wonderful mix of murder, danger, intrigue, romance and God's grace!.

Captivating, engrossing and absolutely mesmerizing!

Elizabeth Goddard holds nothing back in Present Danger, the first installment in her new Rocky Mountain Courage series. From her vivid descriptions of the breath-taking Rocky Mountains, to her powerhouse main characters, Jack and Terra, she kept me entertained and fully immersed in suspense!

Present Danger is fast-paced with plenty of action, drama and dialogue.

This well-written novel balances the high stakes with a fascinating romance between Jack and Terra, two professionals who become a dynamic force against the evil at work in this story. As they individually embrace the trauma from their pasts, and their past together, readers are able to relate to these multi-layered characters as they begin to grow and heal.

I loved the history, connection and chemistry between Terra and Jack. I found their romance to be very compelling. The supporting characters were likable as well, and I’m interested to see who’s story we will discover next in book two of the Rocky Mountain Courage series.

Elizabeth couldn’t have chosen a better setting for her novel. I love how she brought the mountains of Montana alive with her descriptive details and the many harrowing scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat!

In summary, Present Danger was well-written, exciting, well-balanced and highly addictive! Extra points awarded too for the dramatic conclusion that totally caught me off guard! This is a definite must-read and an excellent introduction to what promises to be a fantastic new series for romantic suspense lovers!

*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher as part of the author’s launch team. All thoughts are my own.

The story starts quickly with an excellent start and keeps moving in an enjoyable story made even more interesting through the use of characters that the reader really believes. Their relationship(s) truly drive the story.

This is the first book that I have read by Elizabeth Goddard. I enjoyed the book and following the different characters in the book. It was a good book with a mystery and a little romance involved. I would recommend this book to others. I look forward to the second in the series regarding Terra’s friend Erin. Sounds like a good book also.

Elizabeth Goddard is a new-to-me author and she has quickly become a must read author for me. THis is the second of her books that I have read and I can’t wait to read more.

This book has the perfect mix of romance and suspense. I really enjoyed the development of the relationship between Jack and Terra. Especially, with the way their past was still impacting their present relationship. Another aspect of this book that I really enjoyed was the way the entire story and mystery circled around Terra, her past and her family. There were a few expected twists and turns but there were also unexpected ones. This led to an engaging story. I am looking forward to the rest of the series and seeing what happens next. Especially after reading the preview chapter for Deadly Target (book 2) at the end of this book.

This book releases 6th April.

This book starts out with a crash, and keeps on going. First an airplane crash, leading to a body that wasn't in the plane, but went off a mountain, but there is more. This is the catalyst to bring two former sweethearts back together, now US Forest Service Special Agent Terra Connors, and Montana Detective Jack Tanner, they now have to work together to solve a murder and stolen artifacts.
I loved the mind of this author and we take a lot of twists and turns, shots and crashes, and bodies, but keep turning the pages, surprises abound here and are dropped all way up to the last page.
We are given so much love and care for their families, and with the twists you will be wondering whom is involved and whom is innocent.
I loved the ending, and then the tease of the next book in this series, which I can't wait for!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.

"The direction your life takes can often come down to one decision, one moment in time."

Such an exciting and adrenaline-filled start to a new series! In her trademark fashion, Elizabeth Goddard weaves an action-packed, heart-pounding suspense with a complex and intricate plot that will have you guessing until the very end. I really enjoyed how all the pieces and clues fell into place to create a bigger picture than either of the main characters suspected when they took on the investigation. Jack and Terra have their voices in the story as the main characters but there is a third voice from a man named Chance whose role in the case is quite ambiguous until the end. I can't wait to read the second book in the series about Terra's friend Erin and Jack's co-worker Nathan.

Jack, ex-FBI and now a county detective, and Terra, ex-NPS and now a forest service special agent, have a rocky past together. Despite having grown and matured through the years that separated them, they still have a difficult and awkward time working together to solve a murder investigation in the national forest of Montana. The initial investigation leads to more confusing and deadly encounters and it gets personal when Terra becomes targeted. Jack and Terra's backstory is heavy with regret, self-doubt, and mistakes but their feelings for each other solidify as they dodge bullets, brainstorm theories, and work to protect others from harm. Archaeological trafficking is something I wasn't really aware of until this book.

I received the book from Revell and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.

A suspense novel that spans thousands of miles and a couple of dozen years (at least). The web is tangled and I kept being surprised! All the layers added to the intrigue. identities had me confused slightly and there was a lot of intertwining of why certain characters were out to get others. It's hard to say much without spoiling but I was definitely surprised at the turn of events!!

The archeology aspect was cool; I didn't know that was a job in our park system. I also loved Jack's care for his aunt. I feel bad for all that Terra's family endured but I think they're going to be okay. Honestly, I don't know what I think about her grandfather and Owen. They didn't have a ton of development. I think there could be more done if the other books were still about Terra but they aren't so we'll leave it as it is.

It was nice to tie in Liam and Rae. I love when characters from other series show up in new books. So fun. I also want to know what is up with the name "Jack". So many authors seem to be using it and it's been the main guy's name in several of the last books I've read. Odd.

Present Danger, by Elizabeth Goddard, is another tale full of action and suspense as you watch Jack Tanner and Terra Connors attempt to discover who is responsible for the deaths that keep occurring in the national forest!

With all the time that Jack and Terra are spending together, you begin to wonder if their former relationship will suddenly spring back to life. However, Terra can barely take it when the evidence begins to point back at her own family!

When the investigation begins to focus on a tragic accident that occurred fifteen years ago killing Terra's mother, Jack and Terra are not sure which way to look for answers. The final pages of this book get extremely complicated when you learn that one of the main characters is is not who you think he is!

This is definitely a tale you do not want to miss!

“Present Danger” has a solid start but a bit of a slow build; nevertheless, I urge you to keep reading to the end! I am a little bit of an outdoors enthusiast and I was delighted to see that this novel encapsulates the rugged beauty of Montana and its surrounding areas. Goddard was able to portray the remoteness of the setting; even paying homage to the artifacts and their histories. It lent itself to the believability factor. Another plus was that the love story did not overpower the overall predicament of finding a murderer deep in the woods-and the quest to find stolen antiquities. Our main characters had to rely on their faith to keep going; a loss of faith in love as well. It isn’t preachy and readers will want to do nothing but cheer on our pair! And once the halfway mark in the book is hit, you won't want to put this down! All the pieces of the puzzle are put into place. There are some twists and some shock factor worked in! It is definitely worth your while! Superb and beautifully crafted! Be on the lookout for it next month!
