5/5 stars

This really might be closer to 4.75 out of 5 stars but I honestly enjoyed myself while reading this one and its been a while since I've felt this way so it deserves the whole 5 stars!

I can see how our main character is compared to Alexis from Schitts Creek and while its not perfect it is a good comparison. And the journey she goes on to find herself and get a footing in a more normal lifestyle came along at a good pace. During the beginning of the book I loved the banter between Piper and Brendan and then watching as they got to know each other and attraction got into the mix. I found myself smiling and crying during the book and I'm so excited for the sequel! Probably one of my top reads of 2021!

I received this book from NetGalley as an eARC in exchange for a review.

Tessa Bailey does it again. Another unputdownable romance. It is the perfect feel good romance with some cute as heck banter. A bit of brattiness and some pretty solid intimate scenes. I can’t wait for book 2 to come out to see what Tessa does next!

This was adorable! Cute and sweet with the Tessa Bailey dirty talk stamp all over it! For some reason though, it's not as steamy as her other books but I definitely can't wait to read the sequel!

Tessa Bailey, once again, is the master at sexual tension, dirty talk, and couple chemistry. Obsessed with this. But for the first time, my immediate attraction is on Piper. Not Bailey’s hero! Totally new for me in her books. I loved it.

I had heard great things about this romance...so I'm not sure why it took me so long to pick it up. I wasn't so sure in the beginning because Piper was the typical rich party girl and I was not a fan. But she definitely grew on me. However, the real star of this show? Brendan. I will take one of him please and thank you. I absolutely adored him. Did they move fast? Yeah. Did I mind? No. Was this one of the most smutastic books I have read in a very long time? Why yes. Yes it was.

I really enjoyed it and will definitely pick up Hannah and Fox's book later this year.

4.25 Stars / 3.5 Steam Fans

When Tessa Bailey stated, she drew inspiration from the show Schitt's Creek, and she wasn't joking. We have a socialite that does something outlandish and gets exiled to a small town where she falls in love. There were funny, sweet, and sexy moments but there were also moments that were just meh. I enjoyed the ride and looked forward to reading the sister's book.

Really struggled to get into this book. Didn't like the characters at all. Ultimately tried a couple times to pick it up, read a chapter or two, got bored and put it down again. I'm in the minority but this didn't work for me at all.

This is THE book of the summer! Tessa Bailey does it again, she makes you fall in love with both characters and the overall trope. Think: Shitt's Creek and your favorite romance novel have a baby. It Happened One Summer was devoured in one sitting for me, I couldn't wait to find out what happened and the characters both had strong archs. Recommending this to everyone I know.

This book was a lot of fun—total Schitt's Creek vibes. I've been recomending it to romance readers and am excited to read more in this series. Loved the coastal setting and compelling romance.

This was a fun romance inspired by Schitt's Creek. The main character Piper is a little bit... Alexis, for lack of a better term, and interest Brendan has all the makings of your next book boyfriend. I do wish the pacing of their relationship had been a bit slower. They start out with an enemies-to-lovers vibe as total opposites, which is one of my favorite tropes but I would have liked the enemies and tension portion to have been drawn out longer so the romance felt more earned.
The sex scenes in this book were STEAMY- more so than I'm used to, but it worked. Although the book may have killed the word 'baby' for me -Brendan completely overdoes it here.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, which explores Piper's sister's relationship.
Many thanks to the publisher for the advance copy.

I always enjoy Tessa Bailey's books because she has such a way with creating engaging characters, and It Happened One Summer was no exception. I loved Piper and Brendan, the fishing town of Westport, and the glimpses at the supporting cast of characters (would've loved more of them - Brendan's foray into joining Instagram with the "help" of his boat crew was absolutely hilarious). I do wish Piper and Hannah were a bit more curious about their late father and explored his story further. But overall, this was a fun read.

You need to read this book ASAP! I don’t know why I waited so long. It was so good. The authors writing is amazing and I am already starting the next book in the series. I want to live in the town of Westport. Piper and Brendan are adorable and you can’t help but root for them from the start! I wish I could give this book 10 stars

I loved this book! It's the perfect blend of naughty and nice for the season. Sure there's no mention of any holiday except the national end of summer, Labor Day, but it does have that blend to it. Inspired by Alexis in Schitt's Creek, Piper is an optimistic rich girl who is thrown to the boondocks of a small Pacific Northwest town to get it together. Hannah, the best sister, goes along to help her acclimate and so that they meet the town where their later father grew up and died in. There's a bunch of zany small town characters but Brendan the sea captain, steals our hearts. Piper and Brendan embark on a opposites attract journey that starts off mean but ends up nice. The story moves quickly with great banter, witty characters and plenty of character development to keep you glued to the pages. I can't wait for the next one

This book was perfect. I loved all the characters. The tension, banter, enemies for lovers, and chemistry was flowing off the pages. Tessa Bailey has always wrote amazing steam and she didn’t hold back on this one! I loved this story and am so excited for the next one.

It was everything I needed and so much more. It was sweet, real, and mature. A true adult romance… including all those steamy moments saved for adult eyes. I loved it. Tessa brings us a winner, again!

So, again I’m behind on the reviews – with work, life, broken fingers and well, a pile to write – I am woefully behind and apologize profusely. But a new series from Tessa Bailey starts with

It Happened One Summer

I’ll admit that I am a sucker for Bailey’s work – the humor, the steam (and there is steam) and her alpha males that always have something just a bit ‘different’ about them. And here was no different, but I did struggle with the heroine here. Piper is very self-absorbed and rather clueless about ‘impressions’ unless they are on her IG page or relate to something that is about her or her ‘fancy’ of the day. But she does learn to balance both life and dreams with a true understanding of who she is beneath all the fluff and fakery. And don’t get it wrong, Piper did come off as trying too hard to fit a persona that she believed would ‘enhance’ her standing – even as it came off as more than a bit airheaded and ditzy. The saving grace here was the fact that, beneath it all, Piper was unsatisfied with the path she was on, and her new life For she’s been “banished” with her sister, to a remote location to run a bar and learn something about ‘the real world’.

From the start, the collection of locals that we meet are suspicious and curious about Piper and her sister Hannah, and the fact that Piper's reputation as the It Bad Girl in LA doesn’t help. Bearded, widowed and outwardly grumpy fisherman Brandon isn’t willing to take more than a quick moment with her – until the chemistry sparks his interest, and soon the two are running into each other EVERYWHERE. In a small town, not hard to do, but Brandon enjoys flustering her, and flattering her – and is determined to find the ‘real Piper” beneath the polish.

As Piper settles in and finds a connection with the place, the person she used to be, and even perhaps finding a new way to be herself because that makes her happy – the connection with Brandon just seems to get stronger and stronger. The chemistry is OFF the chains, the steam is sexy, hot, dirty and completely engaging, and with witty banter, some big AHA moments for both Brandon and Piper, and the growth in Piper that happens incrementally, allowing her real self – with goals, purpose and no real need to “show the world’ her fabulousness – the two goo from reluctant acquaintances to full-on lovers, with the L word and true commitment to follow. Another winner in the ‘will they or won’t they – and will I find a reason to keep on reading from Tessa Bailey – with plenty to love all around.

I received an eArc copy of the title from Avon Books via Avon Addicts for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Move over Alexis Rose... Piper Bellinger has arrived. There's a lot to love about this opposites attract romance set in small-town Washington! I had the pleasure of interviewing the author for Boobies & Noobies about the inspiration behind the book, her steamy sex scenes, and what's ahead for the next book in the series. Check it out on www.boobiesandnoobies.com.

P.S. We need more sexy fisherman in romance novels.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

I will always stop what I am doing and read a Tessa Bailey novel. Her Fix Her Up series had so many great characters. It Happened One Summer is the first book in a sexy new series of interconnected romances. This one is about 28 year old Piper Bellinger, a rich, spoiled social influencer who lives in Los Angeles. After her latest escapade goes badly, she is shipped off the small fishing town in the pacific northwest where she was born. (The same place her biological father was killed.) She finds herself cut off financially until she can learn some responsibility. There she meets bearded fisherman Brendan, a boyfriend trope I did not know I needed. Marketed as Schitt's Creek -inspired romcom, this book totally hit the spot for me. Can't wait to see what Tessa Bailey does for Piper's sister Hannah in book 2.

This is the first book that I read by this author and I really enjoyed it more than I expected to. The main female character is inspired by Alexis from the TV show Schitt's Creek. There was great character development and growth and story was paced nicely. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.
