This is the first TB book series I read and I LOVED it. It has just the right balance of sweetness/vulnerability and physical attraction and was a perfect romance read. The setting was so romantic and it was interesting to imagine the other side of dangerous king crab fishing. Can't wait to read more by Tessa Bailey in the future.

I’m a fan of Tessa Bailey RomCom’s and have binged Schitt’s Creek on Netflix this past year, so when I saw Tessa was working on a Schitt’s Creek inspired romcom, I was excited to give it a try. It was a solid read for me, I enjoyed the premise and the world that was created and it was certainly a fun summer read.

Some bits I really enjoyed, were the town and the town folks and the relationship between Piper and her sister. However, I think the romance wasn’t quite as developed as I was looking for – it just felt a bit too fast I guess, I was looking for more tension or build up. I was really intrigued by Fox and Hannah, so I’ll definitely be ready to read book 2.

Another absolutely winner from Tessa Bailey. I was intrigued by the take on the character of Alexis Rose and trying to give her an ending and this book did not disappoint. Good chemistry and loved the setting.

Tessa Bailey is a perennial favorite of mine, and I love this grumpy/sunshine trope. She always does this lighthearted rom-com well, and I feel like she probably has a wonderful sense of humor in person. My only complaint with this is, as a southern gal from a small town, I get tired of the dumb yokel kinds of assumptions made in books. We rural readers travel the world, are well read, and know the difference between the salad fork and the dinner fork. That being said, this was a fun book.

What an adorable story. There was actually a great deal of character development throughout the story. I also enjoyed reading about the defining moments of the supporting characters. The writing was better here that previous books, seemed a little bit more polished. It allowed me to understand the characters' motivations a bit more.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book! It was everything I wanted in a flirty summer romance and more. I loved piper’s transformation and Brendan was absolutely perfect. 5 stars!

Wow…I went into IT HAPPENED ONE SUMMER expecting to enjoy it because I loved the premise, love Schitt’s Creek, and already enjoy Tessa Bailey’s writing style, but this book blew me away! I loved it even more than I expected and seriously cannot wait for its sequel, HOOK, LINE, AND SINKER!

Brendan and Piper were absolutely amazing characters and I loved their dynamics, especially since I am a huge sucker for the grumpy and sunshine pairing…their chemistry was also undeniable and I loved the little inside jokes that they had throughout the book that would make me laugh even harder when they came up again. It was such a fun, laugh out loud, and also steamy read, and I already want to read it again. It also reminded me just how much I love a beefy, strong hero and a capable man is always attractive! Haha

Overall, I loved IT HAPPENED ON SUMMER! It was steamy, sweet, funny, and also seriously uplifting and heartwarming—the perfect rom-com to pick you up and make you laugh! I’d recommend it to fans of rom-coms that like their romances steamy, and if you also love the sunshine and grumpy pairing, hunky and strong heroes, and heroines with a lot of heart and perseverance than I think you’ll love this one, too!

This is not a genre I normally read and I wasn't not expecting much, or anything really, but I was so pleasantly surprised! The characters had a lot of depth and I liked that it told the story from both perspectives really well. I like that it had enough story to still be interesting when it wasn't as steamy. I look forward to more from this author.

This e-copy was kindly provided to me by netgalley and the publisher for review. All opinions are my own.

This is only my second Tessa Bailey book, but I have a feeling that this will already be my favorite series by her. I loved the sunshine-grumpy trope, the small pacific northwest town feel. Like, I wanna be in this town ASAP. Piper was an absolute riot; cut off from step dads money she must learn to survive. Like, come on, the cooking scene had me laughing out loud. I liked the love interest a lot, one of my favs recently. The ending scenes were a little cliche- saw it coming a mile away but still really enjoyed. Already reading the sister and fox's book as I write this review. JUST SO GOOD

BTW: the 'butt stuff' was very tame compared to how i feel like its portrayed on social media atm. That's not a fav for me, but this book just barely crossed that line to the point of I wasn't uncomfortable.

Holy hotness 🔥 🥵

This book was so so so good. I could NOT put it down. It was so so so good. I laughed out loud several times. Brendan’s proposed Instagram handle options, especially “SlipperyWhenWet” had me laughing so hard.

So many sexy steamy scenes, so many heart-swelling moments, and so many itches to be able to read Hannah’s story immediately after.

I could not unsee Piper as Alexis from Schitt’s Creek and Brendan as Mutt. 😅 I loved the journey each character was on, how much they loved each other for who they already were, but still made each other better by being together.

This is my first Tessa Bailey book and it will NOT be my last. READ THIS BOOK 😍

Easily one of my top favorites of 2021, anyone who enjoys sexy and fun romances, should stop what their doing and devour every one of Tessa's books. It Happened One Summer was a breath of fresh air and after a pandemic lull of unsatisfying books, reignited my interest.

I have zero criticisms for this book other than I wish I had book immediately after. Haha. I wasn't sure I'd like the heroine as the whole social media influencer thing really gets on my nerves but Piper has a heart of gold and grows so much throughout this story. Brendan is the perfect balance for her. She makes him lighten up a bit and he makes her settle down. Their chemistry is ridiculous and so sexy but sweet too.

Piper's sister and the other side characters are very engaging and provide a lot of depth to the story which is why I can't wait for more books!

Tessa did a great job with the plot, the touches of angst and as always, the sexy times. I was also impressed with the descriptive settings and could really feel I was in the town, the bar, etc. That is often hard for me to do but Tessa is pretty magical. So go read this now!

I loved this book! This is definitely my favorite of Tessa Bailey so far! The book was impossible to put down - and very sexy! Piper is such an adorable character and I loved how she and Brendan started out disliking each other. The chemistry was very well written. I can't wait for the next installment!

If you’re looking to get lost in a feel good romance and escape for awhile, look no further. This delightful and fun read is a perfect blend of humor, romance and chemistry with lots of steam. Piper, a fun loving socialite and media influencer lands in jail after a party she instigated cause damages at a hotel. Her wealthy stepfather cuts off her access to unlimited funds and hoping that she will learn responsibility, exiles her to Washington state and a bar that was left to her by her father. Piper and her sister, both rich city girls, soon discover the challenges and reward of small town life. And when the Beverly Hills socialite encounters a fishing boat Captain who is set in his ways, sparks soon fly.

Loved, loved, loved Piper and Brendan!

Ok, I'll be honest, I didn't love Piper every minute of this book, but that is 100% the point of her evolution as a character. Piper runs in the Hollywood influencer crowd, She's shallow, she doesn't have real friends, and she doesn't have a real driving purpose, at the start. But she very quickly evolves into a young woman that feels a connection to someone and to a town, and that helps her discover who she wants to be, and puts her on the path to becoming her best self.

Brendan and Piper had such bad initial interactions, but Brendan realized he was being unfair, and he admitted it. From that point forward, he was genuine and honest with Piper, and their connection and love bloomed very quickly, and very brightly.

Just a wonderful, fun, engaging and witty romantic comedy. Can't wait for more!

I reread this book prior to reading my ARC of Hook, Line, and Sinker (the second book in this series) and I just loved it so much! I mean I love Schitts Creek, so how could I not love this book?! I think this is my favorite Tessa Bailey book so far. The chemistry of this book is unreal and I couldn't put this book down (for the second time!) This is a great spicy, heartwarming read!

I was initially wary of this main character, but she grew throughout the book. Quite steamy. Good chemistry. This is especially recommended for fans of grumpy "man of few words" male main characters.

Absolutely delightful! Tessa Bailey continues to deliver such fun stories with the perfect amount of steam.

Piper was such a refreshing FMC in this story. I loved that she was deemed incapable to 0nly turn around and shine as being really capable.

Brendan was such a delightful hero. Absolutely grumpy as can be but also utterly delightful.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey. All opinions are my own.

I'm a newly-found Tessa Bailey fan, so I was really excited to get my hands on this- even more so when I read the synopsis where it compares this book to Schitt's Creek. That description truly couldn't be more accurate. This is a hilarious romcom that also pulls at your heart, breaks it a little and then puts it back together. The character depth and development alone make this a read that I will recommend to romcom lovers.
