As soon as I saw a Mary Jayne Baker book on here I had to read it! I've loved her other books and I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

You can tell that this one is an older book of hers (it was originally released in 2017 according to GoodReads) as although this one was fun, steamy and downright an amazing read, this one just didn't hit the same way A Question of Us and The Never Have I Ever Club did. This isn't a bad thing it just shows how her writing has developed the more she has written.

Honestly these characters and this premise were perfect and I loved the journey we go on in this one. I cannot wait to read more of her work because Mary Jayne Baker is definitely an auto-read author of mine!

A completely cute story with fun banter and chemistry amongst the characters. Consideration should be given for some sexy, steamy scenes between characters (so older young adults would be most appropriate).

This really hit the spot! This book was hilarious, charming, and filled with sweet romance. I, personally, am obsessed with lighthouses, so I think I'm partial to this book more than others. The writing just flows so smoothly and the characters are so enjoyable to read about. Their witty banter really gets me :) Highly recommend this one!

On Bobbie Hannigan’s birthday she makes a decision that is going to change her life. She decides to buy the local dilapidated lighthouse. Now in partnership with Ross, the first boy she ever kissed, they make moves to turn the lighthouse into an amazing music venue.

Can they make all their dreams come true?

I will read anything Mary Jayne Baker writes. I love the Northern voice and sassy characters. There is aways an element of fun and seriousness. I can’t recommend her work highly enough.

This was a perfectly cute novel idea. I was so excited for this one after reading the blurb but unfortunately that excitement wasn’t matched in the pages. Buying a lighthouse, a hot former classmate, drunken pacts. This had all the potential but didn’t come together for me. Yes there was a fun project and yes there was some chemistry but I wasn’t invested in the characters and I think our female lead is a bit immature. Family history aside, I struggled to get over how much she freaked out about kissing a man who is going through a divorce which caused the chemistry they had in the beginning to fizzle out by mid-book and I just didn’t find myself invested through the rest.

“The day I turned twenty-eight, I bought a lighthouse and met the love of my life.”

When Bobbie realized Cragport’s Victorian lighthouse was for-sale she couldn’t not buy it. Especially since it was a staple in the town she grew up and lived in, and it was owned by her grandfather’s best friend ... but most because it was only 1 quid.

The day Bobbie decided to buy the light house she also reconnected with Ross Mason, whose great uncle was the owner of the lighthouse and also the man who held the title for her first kiss. One drunken night, led to Ross sharing his biggest dream and Bobbie deciding to share the space of the lighthouse. They started working together to make the lighthouse a space for the community and along the way they discovered it brought them more, because it brought them to each other.

This book was cute although predictable. But the string of fun, likable and crazy characters that helped Ross and Bobbie along the way, added to the story for me. This was my first novel by Mary Jayne Baker, but I enjoyed reading it.

“There’s something about the sea ... it gets inside you, sale in your veins. It always calls you back in the end.”

Thank you to Netgalley and Aria for this eARC to read and provide an honest review.

This story has romance, comedy, and some family fun.
The main characters were an odd couple who sparked from a school romance.
An ok book, looking forward to the next one from this author.

Just what the doctor ordered - a bit of light hearted fun and romance!

Bobbie Hannigan shares a cottage with her sister; there's nothing wrong with her life but she craves a bit of adventure. So when she stumbles upon the first boy she ever kissed - Ross Mason - putting a 'For Sale' sign on the local lighthouse owned by his uncle, she takes the plunge and buys it. Before very long, and armed with the help of some birthday drinks, Bobbie and Ross go into partnership intending to turn the run down lighthouse into a popular music venue. With the spark between them as strong as ever, it's not long before they are struggling to keep their relationship platonic and then a blast from the past upsets the equilibrium . . .

What a great read! With the current pandemic continuing to disrupt daily lives, it refreshing to read about someone with a bit of get up and go. I loved the relationship between Bobbie and her sister, and the vibe with their mother was very entertaining! Beautifully drawn characters, an excellent story with plenty of ups, downs, tears and laughter kept me stuck to this one until the very last. Thoroughly enjoyable, as I have come to expect from this author and one guaranteed to brighten your day, earning 4.5 stars and my hearty recommendation.

My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley; this is - as always - my honest, original and unbiased review.

The cover bought me. And the story seal the deal. I just love Bobbie and Ross. From the moment they re-met I was cheering for them.
They are just soooo cute together. I love slow burn romance... In few parts my heart broke for Bobbie, but this really was a good read.
Just love the idea of a Lighthouse...
Beautifully written romance.
4 stars for me.

The cover is what first drew me into this book, then I read the synopsis and I knew I would never forgive myself if I didn't put down a request. I was so happy when I got the "Congratulations, you've been approved" in my email a few days later.

The romance was everything I needed to get me into the new year which I can bravely say everyone was a bit antsy about starting. While I did feel this book did lack in the comedic pool, it was made up by the romance and protagonist who I greatly adored.

My friend, who I told this book about, can't wait to purchase her own copy (as can't I) I will definitely be re-reading soon!

"The day I turned 28, I bought a lighthouse and met the love of my life."
When a book starts like that, you can't help but want to keep reading. Meet Me at the Lighthouse by Mary Jayne Baker reeled me in with the first sentence. And just like the first sentence suggests, this book was surprising and romantic.
It follows Bobbie Hannigan, who on her 28th birthday- wait for it- buys a lighthouse. Boom. Mic drop. But contrary to what the first sentence says, she didn't exactly meet the love of her life for the first time on her 28th birthday, but rather met him again after ten years apart. Ross Mason, the boy in the band, her first kiss, was back in town and helping his uncle sell his lighthouse for a quid. Bobbie buys the lighthouse and from there starts a beautiful adventure, filled with laughter, love and passion.
I'd like to think that given the opportunity, I might do the same thing had I been in Bobbie's shoes. But I can't say that for sure. Her passion and her willingness to take a chance on a dream is what drives this book. That along with Ross's support and their mutual love and respect for each other and the lighthouse is what makes this book unique. It's inspirational in a way that shows you that dreams can be achieved, as long as you're willing to take a chance on them. What starts out with a tequila slammer and a drunken deal ends with a really uplifting happily ever after.
The book flows really well. There are some time jumps, some of them a couple of weeks, but for the most part the transitions in this book were pretty seamless. It did take me a while to get used to the language and the phrasing but once I did, I was able to really appreciate this book. The author has a really endearing voice that highlights the quirkiness of her characters. Both Ross and Bonnie are really fun characters and while there were times where they were extremely corny, I think it worked for them!
This was a really enjoyable read! It had a really unique plot, which is what made it stand out for me. Along with that the characters were well rounded, and their relationships with each other is fleshed out really well. There are mentions of darker times, but for the most part, this book is fun and hilarious! It's a second-chance romance in a small town that's adorable and heartwarming. I would recommend it if you're looking for a light and cheesy, rom-com with a really sweet HEA!

What an absolute treat of a book this was! I’m always open to trying new books when I find them on NetGalley and sometimes they confuse and disappoint me. But Meet Me at the Lighthouse did not disappoint. It was such a brilliant read, filled with quirky and fun characters, plus a romance for the ages.

To break down what it is, Meet Me at the Lighthouse is a second chance romance featuring two of the most interesting characters I’ve read in a long time. Bobbie and Ross are old school friends who have a lot of interesting history between them. They grew up in the same town, shared a kiss once upon a time and then were apart for years. And their reunion happens in front of the lighthouse that Bobbie ends up buying for £1. And to celebrate, they get rip-roaring drunk (see: Tequila Slammers) and then make a deal to share the lighthouse and turn it into a music venue. Because you know, it’s a good idea and Ross is now a studly rocker and not the lanky boy she once kissed. And so their story begins.

The book is told through a single POV and you only get to see Bobbie’s side of things, which makes you want to clobber her over the head a few times because she’s thinking too much and getting her panties in a twist, as it were. But Bobbie is hilarious and she comes along with a troupe of characters that are just as entertaining - her twin sister Jessica, her mother and Jessica’s new boyfriend Gareth. Ross is dreamy, swoony and charming all at once. He’s the kind of male character we all wish existed in real life for us to trip over our own feet for. Goddamn him and his charm. Plus, he’s a musician, so you know you’re done for when you encounter his magical voice, lyrics and fingers on that guitar.

For all it’s entertaining and amusing characters and factors, Meet Me at the Lighthouse tells the story of fighting for what you want. In order to fix up the rundown lighthouse Ross’ uncle sold to them, they need money and the town council will stop at nothing to ensure that it’s a painful process to have everything they want.

They also go through a series of relationship fits and starts, with everything from Ross’ ex-wife, to his secrets, her lack of trust and her very own cheating ex. Honestly at one point, I felt like everything and everyone in this book was working towards making sure these two never got together! Not that it stops Bobbie and Ross from having all the fun in the world, because they are so hilarious together. They’re a perfect match in every way and I love that so much.

I enjoyed this book far more than I expected, which makes it even more special. And I can’t wait to read more of Mary Jayne Baker’s books and soak up all of this fantastic humour and writing.

I think this is a really cute idea for a story but I was left wanting so much more. The writing was almost too clear, like you never had to imagine what they were thinking or feeling because it spelled out, which made it seem simple.

Unfortunately I was unable to read this book due to formatting issues. My rating is based on both the blurb and my previous experience with this authors work.

This was a very cute idea, but I ended up marking this as DNF since I didn't realize that there would be a certain topic talked about later on. The pace also got a little bit slow for me so I ended up marking this as DNF. Thank you Netgalley and publishers for the chance to read and review this.

Bobbie and Ross buy an old dilapidated lighthouse for £1.00 after a few tequila slammers...... what could possibly go wrong!

A fun, easy read.

A great story. Writen in a way that was not to my taste but an excelent topic to write about. I loved the mother's character. She was so right to be so protected of her girls and I loved the way she interogated the new boy friends. . A GREAT READ

Meet Me at the Lighthouse is a sweet, fun read with a few bumps in the road. I liked that it didn't follow the mostly standard format of 50% together, 75% breakup.

Bobbie and Ross went to school together, each with their own crush on the other they were too intimidated to do anything about it. Fast forward several years, a chance meeting at an old lighthouse sends both of their lives in a completely different direction neither of them was expecting.

Ross is charming and patient. Bobbie has some unfortunate baggage, which makes her feel more real, from a previous relationship that makes her question his motives. There were a few scenes where I could feel Bobbie's heart breaking, or feel her hesitation and doubts. Overall it's a sweet, well-written book, with good flow and equally good secondary characters.
