Chad Sell knocked it out of the park again with The Cardboard Kingdom #2: Roar of the Beast. I cannot wait to introduce this one to my students. Sell's illustrations and plot lines are well done and engaging for kids. My two boys devoured this book as well.

This was such a great follow-up to the first Cardboard Kingdom. The story is fun and creative and the characters are diverse. Friendship, creativity, courage and kindness. I think many readers will enjoy this!

This graphic novel is filled with diverse characters and interesting storylines that you won’t see in most children’s books. The storylines deal with real life issues, but incorporate children’s pretend play. Highly recommend this book.

This second installment of Cardboard Kingdom has more action, more danger, and also a ton heart.

Vijay has big plans to make The Beast even cooler for Halloween. When he is bullied by teenagers and his costume is destroyed, he doesn't want to be The Beast anymore. That night, Nate sees a big monster attack Eli, causing him to fall and break his leg. Soon, other members of the Cardboard Kingdom begin to see the monster as well. Now it is all out Monster Hunt to protect everyone and save Halloween.

Just like the first installment, this an amazing book that shows neighborhood kids using their imaginations and becoming whatever they want to be. With the threat of the monster, the kids also show how resilient they are, and how they accomplish anything as a team. The mystery of the monster was so much fun to follow and to see how it affected each of the characters. While it is hard to match the magic of the first book, this is an amazing graphic novel and young readers are sure to gobble up.
