I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley!

The cover of this book really is quite adorable and suites the title / book.
The illustrations were great.
My children and I really enjoyed this book. It was informative but fun.

I'd definitely purchase a copy and check out other books by the author.

This is such a cute book. The pictures .are you feel like you are at the doctors office. It also explains what happens in detail at the eye doctor. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a child who goes to the eye doctor frequently or used in the classroom.when speaking about different kinds of doctors.

Okay this was such a great book. I worked with optometrists and opticians for six years and this book I’ve already told them all to get a copy! It was fun. Well written. And informative.

This cheerfully illustrated book clearly explains what happens when a child goes to see the optometrist. Everything is carefully detailed and presented in a non-scary and interesting way. This book offers a wonderful chance to let your child know what to expect at their appointment. Read it before going. It is quite well done.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

Optometrists and What They Do is a brightly illustrated, informative book aimed at children explaining what an eye doctor does and what to expect at an eye examination. It is well written in a way children will understand and hopefully will make children less frightened of going to their appointments.

Thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for my ARC.

This book isn't just an acutely illustrated book. Optometrists and What They Do, written by Liesbet Stegers does a stupendous job at explaining what an Optometrist does while sharing Karen's experience. Something I wasn't a fan of is how wordy the book is.

A good introduction to optometrists that will probably reduce a child's fears about this slightly weird and different doctor's appointment! I though the art was interesting and it walked through the steps for an appointment, but I felt a lot of the non-technical vocabulary choices were a bit advanced for board-book readers.

It can be frightening to go to the doctor not knowing all that will take place. The eye doctor can be more intimidating as it is up close and a very sensitive area of our body. This book for children will help with the fears and the questions on what an eye doctor does and why. All the machines and what to expect. I found it very helpful and would be a great resource for children that will have to visit the optometrists for any eye concern.

The illustrations were complete and kid friendly. Highly recommend.

A special thank you to Clavis Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

This is a brightly colored book explaining (as the title indicates) what an optometrist is. The illustrations are fun and colorful, and will certainly capture children’s attention. However, there is a significant amount of text on each page, and some large words are used that would be difficult for preschoolers to understand. I worry that the story content will not be intriguing enough to a four year old, and this book may be better directed at a slightly older audience. Overall, this book addresses a very important subject and could potentially be useful to assuage the fears of a child needing to see an eye doctor.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for an electronic copy in exchange for my honest review.

The book gave a lot of information, but I think the format may be overwhelming for preschoolers. Every page has a lot of details and very large words that could be intimidating to little ones. I think that the pictures explain a lot and if this book is to be geared toward preschool age children then it needs to be more concise in the explanations. The illustrations with labels was a very good choice.

Thank you to NetGalley for this eARC.

A cute book that would be at home in any optometrist's office or in the home of any child. It wonderfully explains anything that a child may be anxious about while also acknowledging that there are some things that may be a bit scary.

Thank you to NetGalley and Liesbet Slegers for this advanced copy which I received in return for an honest review.

This picture book is so well done when it comes to brief introduction and information regarding the various tests and simple diagnostic exercises done to test the eyesight of kids. And yes, that's the title well explained and illustrated.

The artwork is basic. Get a glimpse of the inside world of optometrists through this book!

Thank you author and the publisher for the ARC.

I saved this book to read with my three year old daughter - she has a problem with her eyes and this enabled me to read the book with her and point out what would happen - we read it just before her appointment and she was much more relaxed.

I have read a couple of books in this series now and they are great - this one had lovely illustrations and they really helped show my daughter what was going on and she knew what she needed to do - after all things like seeing the consultants and getting them to look at your eyes is a big thing as an adult, never mind when you are only 3!

The book was great, well written and informative - it is 4 stars from me for this one.
I will be reading it to her again when it is her next follow up appointment - highly recommended!

This picture book is designed for kids ages 4+ and is part of the best selling professions collection! This book has very vibrant colors and cute pictures that are sure to capture a child's attention while still being extremely informative. I especially loved the diagrams going over the tools optometrists use and can help ease a child's fear of getting a check up. At times the book can get a bit wordy and too descriptive for the age group but don't let that deter you, this is an all around an awesome read!

This was a very informative book for young kids about their first optometrist appointment. The art style was sweet, and my only critique is the amount of words crowding some of the pages.

This is a great little story for children who may be worried about going to the eye doctor or just curious. Written in a logical way with great illustrations, the writer has done a great job of explaining things in detail for children.

I loved this very informative children’s book. I happened to see a friends review and had to read it myself. I’m getting ready to start a job as an ophthalmic technician and this book will be a great tool to show my daughter what I will be doing. Plus I’m sure I will be suggesting this book to parents of small children who come to the office. What a great way to help explain what goes on during an appointment to a young child.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. This is exactly what an educational childrens book should be! It teaches them something and is inspirational. Not much for illustrations but the words do the speaking.

A good book, as it stands, discussing how a trip to the opticians pans out (OK, the optometrists… or even the ophthalmologist, as google translate converts the original Dutch title of this). It's just I could have hoped for changes, if not improvements. The design is pitched very young, akin to the girl involved in the story, who ends up playing with some preschooler's bricks while her eye drops settle. But the text is a lot more advanced, gearing us right up to dropping all we know about the synoptophore into our casual conversation at school. It starts non-fiction then gives us the character of the girl and her father and optician, and breaks out into dramatising it all. So yes, it is all accurate, and caring, and entirely affirmatory (the things you block a single eye out with are one time "beautiful" and the other "cute"), but it's not perfect. Also it ignores all the glasses care and the very act of using an optician's correctives that such a trip might lead to. Let's hope the sequel then handles things a bit better.
