I read Sara Richardson's previous book in this series and I really enjoyed coming back to the ranch in this one. Thea and Wes are both living with guilt over the loss of someone. Neither could have changed the circumstances, but both feel responsible and it has kept them both from fully living their lives. The story was sweet and healing. I loved Thea's kids in the story. The story was well written. It's not necessary to read the previous book in the series as the story is standalone. I was pulled into the story and could barely put the book down. I received a copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

4.5 stars. I am loving this series so far. This is such a sweet story. I love the characters so much. Wes and Thea are so good for each other. She for him to want to settle down and him to be her second chance at love and hopefully get it right this time. She is a widow but her marriage was not the best. Her two kids Ryan and Olivia have been through a lot and are challenging at times but really are sweet kids. Wes travels a lot and hasn't ever really had a reason to want to stop. Until he meets Thea and her kids. Didn't take long for young Ry Ry to latch on to Wessy as a father figure either. They were very good for each other. All the other supporting characters are well though out and helpful to the story. I enjoyed this story very much and loved the journey Wes and Thea take towards their HEA.

Thea is a widowed mother of 2 kids who leads a yearly retreat for veterans and their families. She puts everything she has into making it perfect and keeping her children close and helping them to adjust to being without their dad. This year the retreat has a twist, Thea's old friend has gone into premature labor and can't be onsite for the retreat and enlists the help of her brother to take her place. Thea has had dealing with Wes long ago and is not thrilled at learning he's in charge. He's not been the most trustworthy in her eyes and this is a fact that he's aware of because it isn't just her opinon. He feels he's let his own family down big in the past and is working to make it right. Wes hits it off with Thea's son and she's worried that he'll let him down too, something she works hard to avoid. What she doesn't count on is him winning her over too and realizing how much she cares for him. Ms. Richardson is a fairly new author for me, as this is just the second book of hers I've read. I enjoy her writing style and the care she puts into developing her characters and storylines. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

One Night with a Cowboy is the second book in Sara Richardson's Silverado Lake series and I loved the first book, so I was very excited to get my hands on Wes' story!

Wes Harding is a rodeo cowboy, but not in the way most would think. His job entails running from the bulls after the rider is off to corral them back into the chute. It gets his adrenaline up and he loves the thrill. When his sister, Jane, is forced into the hospital, he comes back to the ranch to help run a retreat that she has scheduled.

Thea Davis is a widowed mother of two. She's been friends with Jane for a long time and she is bringing the veteran's support group she's hosting to the ranch for a retreat. Thea has always been focused on her work and her kids, but following the death of her husband, that has only increased as it is a way to keep her mind occupied. Thea feels a tremendous amount of guilt over how things were left with her husband before his final deployment and subsequent death.

Wes and Thea butted heads almost immediately when she and the kids hit town. Much of that stems from a time in the past when Wes didn't show up somewhere he had promised Thea he'd be. Plus, she doesn't have time for men with all she has going on with the kids, but also because she doesn't want to open herself up to pain again. But the chemistry between the two is undeniable. Is it only a matter of time before a spark turns into a roaring flame? Or will the two of them get in their own way?

My favorite character in the whole book was Thea's son, Ryan. He was a precocious and amazing little boy who took an immediately liking to Wes. The bond the two of them formed so quickly was heartwarming and it made me smile on so many occasions. What I loved most those was how quickly he stole Wes' heart.

There was so much to love about this book as both Wes and Thea had many things to overcome in order for them to be together, but it was worth it in the end and you won't be sorry if you pick up this wonderful book.

Sara Richardson does such an amazing job creating a world in a small town that I want to revisit. Then when I get to revisit in the second or third book in her series, she lets me back into the lives of characters that I have already met and loved and it feels like coming home. I wasn't entirely sold on Wes and Thea. She seemed a little too standoffish and I wasn't too sure about him in general, but they were just right. I loved the kids. I enjoyed so much how much depth and humor they brought to the relationship. I thought Wes's understanding of the kids and their grief and how he respected them was so good. If you like a cowboy romance with some heat and with some depth, this book is for you.

A nice, touching contemporary western romance. Wes Harding and Thea Davis are both dealing with guilt and grief and have to get past it to get to their happily ever after. Thea Davis’ husband died while serving his country and she is now raising her ten year old Ryan and thirteen year old Olivia. She planned a retreat at her friend Jane’s Ranch for local veterans and their families. When Jane goes into preterm labor, Jane asks her brother Wes to step in and run the retreat. Wes is rising to the top of his profession as a rodeo clown, and stopping to help his sister may keep him from his next promotion, but his family comes first. I loved the romance between Wes and Thea, but the Bromance between Thea’s son Ryan and Wes put this book over the top for me. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

** I received this as an E-ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review, Thank you!** \

Our two main characters in this book are Wes and Thea. Wes is a Bull Rider/Rodeo Clown, always one the move. He stays home to help his sister Jane, who is having a difficult pregnancy. Jane was putting together a retreat of sorts with her old friend college friend Thea. Thea is a widowed single mother whose husband passed away while he was deployed. When she shows up at the ranch and discovers Wes is in charge, she doesn't have much confidence in his ability to handle the retreat. They butt heats but as they spend more time and get to know one another we see sparks fly!

My initial feeling while reading is that the beginning is a little slow. It just felt like it took a while for our characters to really start interacting and watching the tension rise. I really enjoyed that our characters both have some traumas they are still working through, It made them feel more relatable and more real. I loved reading Wes and Ryan together. It honestly made me smile reading their relationship grow and the bond they started developing. Books that involve kids can be really hit or miss for me, thankfully this one was a hit. Overall this was a great read and I completely enjoyed myself while reading. I would for sure recommend.

Moving forward after a loss can be scary! Knowing that each day can be your last is even worse. This book is a wonderful romance about second chances and finding a balance better love and parenting. A must read!

After her husband died while deployed, her focus has been on her two children. As the facilitator and leader of an armed services yearly retreat, she's not prepared for this year's event when her bar friend and mentor ranch owner is hospitalized and her brother takes her place. Wes is not prepared for his reaction to Thea.

He's still harboring guilty feelings about his father's death 10 years ago. Thea struggles with guilt about asking for a divorce as her husband left for deployment so when sparks fly at the retreat, they fight them at first. Can she and Wes have a future.

After a series of unfortunate events, they both realize their relationship is a rarity and they need to do everything to move forward, but will it be enough? You'll want to read this one to find out!

We are back in Silverado Lake and this time the story belongs to rodeo cowboy Wes Harding and Thea Davis, a widow with two kids.
Wes holds a great deal of guilt after his father’s death. A death he feels is his fault. As much as he loves his family, he feels he will always be considered the undependable one. But when his little sister Jane has an emergency and needs him to take care of the group arriving at the ranch, he drops everything in order to help her. The group is being lead by Jane’s friend, Thea. A woman who lives an orderly and rigid life and is not happy with Wes and all the changes he’s making to her schedule.
That said, the chemistry between these two is obvious, but both carry a great deal of baggage and guilt from the past . Can they overcome their past? Can they forgive each other? Can they open their hearts and give the present and the future a chance?
The author delivers another touching, at times heartbreaking as well as heartwarming story in this series. The children were delightful as were the rest of the secondary characters.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Forever Publishing.

A wonderful book about two people overcoming their past to fall in love. Thea is a military widow and Wes is a single cowboy who believes he will never settle down. They meet at Wes family's ranch where Thea is hosting a retreat for military spouses. The story is well written and has you rooting for Wes and Thea. Definitely a satisfying read. I have not read the first book in this series but look forward to it.

One Night with a Cowboy by Sara Richardson is an emotional roller coaster of a romance book (in all the best ways!).

My heart melted with this book and some of it honestly brought me to happy tears (which is quite the feat!). It was nice to have a book that made me feel so much, and it made me feel quite happy to call myself a Sara Richardson fan. But, you may be asking... why?

In this book we have Weston Harding (or simply, Wes) who is a hometown boy, rodeo clown/bull rider. His sister Jane is pregnant so he's sticking around and helping her out during a scary part of her pregnancy. Jane was working on a retreat with her college friend Thea Davis. Thea has a sad past - her husband died in Afghanistan, leaving her and their two children, Liv and Ryan, behind. Wes and Thea meet and butt heads (to no surprise) but slowly start falling for each other. Lots of drama and scary situations will come their way, but you know they will find a way to overcome it!

So many parts of this book made me smile and cry! "He was a goner." Man, that line made my heart do all sorts of back flips. And it's just a small sentence! But the timing and the story behind it... Yeah, it felt so good. And when you pair it with the very last sentence of the book... Yeah, so good! You'll need to read it to find out why it's so warm, fuzzy and wonderful!

Ryan and Wes's relationship building was what actually brought tears to my eyes. Some of the comments Ryan says to Wes and Wes's reaction will make you feel SO HARD. My poor heart couldn't take the sweetness and beautiful aspect of their story. As someone who lost their own Father - finding someone who can give you experiences you thought you'd lost forever is amazing.

Add in how passionate this book is - R rated sexy scenes - and the wonderful heart to heart talks that happen in this book and you've got a winner! This is one marvellous book that romance fans will absolutely love! I highly recommend it.

Five out of five stars.

Rodeo cowboy Wes loves his family more than anything and will do anything, especially when his little sister needs him most. He comes home and takes over his sister’s giant charity event.
.
What he didn’t expect was that he would quickly fall for a gorgeous widow and her two children. Thea and Wes both have old wounds that need healing but together they realize that love can heal all wounds. The dynamic of their relationship, and the children pushing them together is simply heart warming. Thea felt she didn’t have time for a relationship when being a mom is what held her together but her kids helped her realize she deserves to be happy too!
.
Also, I couldn’t love more the shoutout to Sweet Home Alabama, one of the best rom coms of all time!!

This is such a lovely story between a widow and a man who never thought he would settle down. Thea lost her husband while he was deployed and was left with two children. She hosts a retreat for military spouses at her college roommate's ranch and upon arrival finds out that her friend's brother Wes is going to be running the retreat with her. Wes is the wild child of the family and gives Thea reservations about letting him lead, but to make this retreat a success they have to come together. She learns to open up and live her life after loss. Wes also knows loss and has to cope with that, also. Not only do they have to open their hearts, but they also have to learn to have a relationship when children are involved. This was and fun loving read especially watch Thea learn to let go and be free.

I was very excited to read Wes's story after Jane and Toby's amazing book.

Wes Harding is the , I suppose you would say, "rodeo protection athlete" and loves the thrill and rush he gets from running from the bulls. For Wes, this is the only time he has great feelings and can forget the pain and sorrow and guilt of losing his father. When Jane is forced away from the ranch, it is up to Wes to run a retreat very special to Jane's heart.

Thea Davis is a widowed mom of 2 kids, great friends with Jane, and leading a Vet support group that happens to be having a retreat at Silverado Lake Ranch. Thea is always on the go, wrapped in her job, her kids, and her volunteering. Staying busy keeps her focused and there is no time to dwell on the grief and guilt she feels over her marriage and the husband she lost to war.

There are instant sparks of attraction when Wes and Thea meet. Wes is known as a nomad of sorts, always on the go, never settling down. Thea been there done that and doesn't want to risk herself or her kids to that kind of unstable future. But when these two are together they simply cannot deny their heat. Interesting storyline keeps these two bantering back and forth, on the same side, and torn apart.

Ryan, Thea's son, is the precious scene stealer and also steals Wes's heart right out of the chute. He adds to the charm and fun of this story.

Great book. Highly recommend. .

A beautiful book about finding love and holding on to hope!

Thea is trying to piece her life together after the loss of her husband and the guilt that she carries she keeps herself busy and never focuses on her! Well Wes changes all that and even as undependable as she thinks he is, her son Ryan is attached to the gorgeous man! Their trip to the Silverado Lake Ranch is more interesting and is heating up!

When it’s close to time to leave Ryan isn’t the only one attached but an accident brings out Wes demons and now Thea has to show him he is worthy of love!

I loved that both Thea and Wes are looking for another chance at life and love! They find not only comfort in one another but also find a reason to grow and become the person they are meant to be!

A heartwarming read that will keep you cozy this season and fill your soul with joy!

One Night with a Cowboy worked for me. This is the first time reading this author. I like her writing style and the way she brought the characters to life. The book had me laughing, and crying but I didn't feel an overwhelming sadness. Just real life experiences from the characters.
A lot happened in this book in a short period of time but I thought it flowed well and kept me turning the page.
There were a few storylines that I think could have been expanded but overall I enjoyed it.

This was a great addition to the Silverado Lake series, one that kept me hooked the entire book. I adored all the characters, laughed and shed some tears and was rooting for Thea & Wes the whole time.

Thea is a widowed single mother of two kids. She honestly got on my nerves a few times with her standoffish and judgmental attitude. But once she gives Wes a chance, she starts to see down to the true guy and not the young guy he was way back when he didn't show up for their date. I loved how strong she was as a mother and how fiercely she loved her kids. It was nice to see her loosen up some and let her kids just be kids instead of being over-protective and involved like she was prior to the trip.

Wes was a really good guy. He had the biggest heart, was great with kids, had a good sense for the business and was just trying to find his place in the world. He was a runner, so he does mess up a couple times, but at least he realizes his mistakes quick enough. And when something bad happened, he didn't waste any time jumping into danger. I had a lot of respect for him.

Thea's kids, Liv and Ryan, were absolutely adorable. I loved their interactions with Wes, especially Ryan. He was too cute for words, although he was someone who didn't exactly follow instructions and got himself into dangerous situations by going off on his own. I loved the way Wes treated Ryan like he was someone who genuinely mattered to him. He was incredibly patient with the inquisitive little guy. And Wes also did well with Liv whenever she did something stupid and got caught by Wes.

The ending was great and I look forward to more from the Harding Family.

It's been 8 months since I read Book 1 of the series and some of the family's details I had forgotten (like how the patriarch of the family died all those years ago). I do wish the author had given a little more of a refresher about Wes's family for those who haven't read the first book or those who have since forgotten.
