After my last book that was not so well written, this book caught me in just a short prologue plus few pages. I knew this was going to be a 5 star right from the beginning! My mind only changed for a few pages around 70% bc I was confused as to what the author could possibly have cooked up for that many more pages. But it all worked.

The prologue tells us that the preggars main character was going to get her not yet newborn baby stolen. Then the 1st chapter slips back to a few weeks before the prologue. It goes into how Jillian is being stalked. Someone is trying to drive her crazy. Is it her ex? Her ex's new gf? Is it Bree? It has to be Bree, right? Damn, who is it?

So cleverly written. Written in first person as my most favorite books are. The timeline is continuous, no flashbacks. The back story is all told through one person recounting the story to the next. The first 60% of the book had me snickering here and there from the author's cleverness. She is a great story teller. At 60+% is when everything flips upside-down and you go for a very fast passed ride right up until the epilogue.

You need to pick this book up! I need to look for other books written her! She sooo good.

A huge thanks to #NetGalley. #Dutton, and author #RHHerron for the ARC of #HushLittleBaby.

OMG! This book! I freaking loved. This. Book. It grabbed me from the very first page and held me until the very last.

This story has a little of everything, but focuses on four women, Jillian, Maggie, Camille, and Bree. They are all pregnant women in recovery of their sobriety. They make a pact to stick together and not become just another group of baby blogging moms.

They are all very different and very independent until things start taking a crazy train. Jillian is the main character and narrator. You alternately want to tell her to get it together and feel sorry for her the entire book through. You feel her emotions and you want to be able to reach into the book and help at times.

Jillian didn't have a great childhood and is terrified she will become just like her own mother. When things start happening and things get misplaced or go missing everyone around her, including her ex, makes her feel as if she's loosing it. Just as things come to a head you realize that you couldn't have been more wrong. Whatever you were thinking at this point.....it's wrong.

This is an excellent book that is a testament to a woman's strength and a mother's love. You will be able to grab this one to take for your summer beach read as it will be available wherever you like to buy your books on 5/11/21. #HappyReading!

Jillian is a busy OB-GYN and is now 36 weeks pregnant with her wife, Rochelle’s, biological child. Jillian is an alcoholic who got sober years ago, but still attends meetings. She and 3 other women are close friends, recovering alcoholics, and all are pregnant.

During the time she was drinking, Jillian made a mistake that nearly cost the life of her patient. That was the turning point for her to stop drinking.

Jillian’s wife has recently left her for another woman, Domi. Reeling from the hurt and struggling to do her job as well as shoulder the physical demands of her pregnancy, she is having a difficult time. She has started noticing things missing or moved from where she left them, along with other puzzling situations. She wonders if Rochelle is doing this to her.

Wow! What a ride! This book had me reading without a break and I found my breathing to be fast. This is what you call a thriller and so very well researched. If you want a good book that will grab you and not let go until you have finished the last page, this is the one. Whew!

The blurb of this book had me intrigued; Jillian is very pregnant with her soon to be ex-wife’s biological baby. Her ex, Rochelle, left her for another woman, and now Jillian’s happy little family is torn apart. But, Jillian, who is a recovering alcoholic, is a successful doctor and has worked extremely hard to get her life on track and to get where she is today. Even though she is deeply hurt by the end of her marriage, she focuses on her job and preparing for the arrival of her baby girl, when things start being moved, the pilot light is blown out and a candle is lit that Jillian swears she doesn’t remember lighting. Is this pregnancy brain or is her ex messing with her?

This one was quite the slow burn with the first half building up the anxiety Jillian feels with all the weird things happening to her, and the introduction of her friend group of other recovering addicts. The action really gets kicking at about the last third of the book and oh my it grips you for a ride and doesn’t let go! I was not expecting the twist at the end and I was in my feels at certain points tearing up like a baby!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to Netgalley and RH Herron for the ARC of this book in e change for my review ❤️

I absolutely love a good thriller that I can read with my back against the wall, all the lights on, doors locked, security system engaged, and I DEFINITELY found it with R.H. Herron’s Hush Little Baby. Even thinking about that lullaby right now is giving me the heebie-jeebies! If you’re looking for a top-notch psychological thriller with a fresh spin, check this one out. While you’re at the bookstore, check out Stolen Things by Rachael, because I’m pretty sure you will love that one too!

Although I already own one of Herron's earlier books, this marks my first experience with her writing - and I absolutely couldn't put it down! I ended up staying up way too late, only to force myself to not finish to get some sleep and then to run late in the morning because I just needed to finish!

Jillian Marsh, waits on her divorce to be final - and to give birth to their first child. An OB-GYN herself and seven years into recovery, Jillian is feeling fragile during this tumultuous time. When things start happening around her house, it seems like more than what can be chalked up to "pregnancy brain." This is a terrifying read - absolutely gripping and not only well-plotted but also fast-paced and filled with characters that fully come to life, I wouldn't recommend this one to pregnant readers though, that's for sure!

The California setting works welsher - and I really appreciated that for the most part, the cast here is female. It may have been a rather dark choice to read on Mother's Day, but there's a lot here about the mother and child bond. Vividly written, totally terrifying at times, this is an absolute page turner from start to finish! I can't wait to read more from Herron in the future!

Another pulse pounding read by RH Herron. With original characters and a refreshing storyline this book with grab and hold your attention cover to cover. This book had all the ingredients for the perfect binge read and will not disappoint. The story unfolds pretty quickly and takes on some intense twists and turns. It will keep you guessing right until the very end, which I love - it's a sure way to keep a reader's interest. A solid thriller read, I highly recommend this book be added to your TBR if it isn't already.

OMG! I loved this book! Everything about it was deliciously fun. The characters and their situations were original, interesting, and well thought out. I loved how unexpected each element of Jillian's life was against stereotypes. The first half builds slowly as the characters and suspicions criss-cross all over the place then the whole book shifts about 70% of the way into a high-octane nailbiting thriller that was so fun! I loved R.H. Herron's previous book Stolen Things but the gloves came off on this one and the story just ran a little bananas in the best way. This might be my favorite thriller of 2021 so far!

The premise of this one intrigued me right away, Jillian is pregnant with her ex wife’s biological baby, Rochelle left her for another woman and now the life Jillian planned is no longer an option. But her life has went off the rails before and she’s bounced back, she’s a recovering addict who is now a successful OB/GYN and she’s worked hard to be where she is. As devastated as she is about her marriage unraveling she’s focusing on work and preparing for her daughters birth and then weird shit starts happening, a baby book is moved, a candle is lit she knows she didn’t light, it’s all very unsettling as she wonders is her ex gaslighting her or is she having some serious pregnancy brain?

This one is a slow burn, the first half is spent setting things up and showcasing a great sense of paranoia in Jillian. I was constantly trying to decide if she was overreacting or if there was a real issue. By the last third of the book things get wild and then it starts to read like a true thriller. Things do get a little implausible at times but it was so damn entertaining I didn’t mind. If you don’t mind a sharp switch from simmering slow burn to more outrageous intensity in a thriller check this one out, it was bananas! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have not read any books by R.H. Herron, so this is my first read by this author. I love psychological thrillers- one of my favorite genres to read. Whenever I read a book, I want to be hooked from the start. It makes me want to continue reading. Although this book does that, I feel like the start was a bit slow (hence why I gave it a 4/5 rating). It wasn't until about halfway through the book where things just got out of hand and I couldn't put the book down!
Overall, it was a good book and would definitely pick up another from the author.

Right from the beginning, this book was a page turner that I could not put down. Jillian is going through a divorce, is an ER doctor and has a close group of girl friends. She is also pregnant. Weird things start to happen in her home and makes her question everything. I couldn't put my kindle down at the 50% mark and flew through it in just a day! Highly recommend this book.

Thanks to #duttonpartner for an advanced copy of this book for review.

Hush Little Baby is an amazing page-turning psychological thriller / women's fiction novel. When Jillian's wife cheats on her with another woman while she's 5 months pregnant with her baby, her world seemingly flips upside down. She finds herself alone, and as unexplainable things keep happening, such as her baby book missing and a gas leak, she becomes afraid.

The first 50% of this book was a little slow for my liking in a psychological thriller. After the 50% mark, things really started to hit the fan. Secrets began unraveling and you are taken for a wild ride. This book was action-packed, jaw-dropping, and wonderfully written.

Statistically, pregnancy is one of the most dangerous times of a woman's life. Not to mention all of the unknowns - growing a person in her body, hoping all is developing well. It is definitely like housing an alien - all of which the author plays on in this book, adding to the creep and suspense factors.
Jillian is a successful ob-gyn doctor - delivering babies, assisting women with care and compassion. She herself is weeks away from giving birth - when small little things start happening. Window screens are open. Her baby journal is moved. Fred, her cat, escapes the house.
Jillian's group of pregnant first time moms from her AA groups, called the Ripleys, tell her it's pregnancy brain. Minor details Jillian simply forgets.
Jillian is convinced something is happening - she confronts her wife, Rochelle. At five months pregnant, Rochelle moved in with her new girl friend, Domi; Jillian completely unaware of their affair. Or could it be one of her patients?
Excellent suspense. Loved the back story and reality of the characters.
Highly recommend.

What if "pregnancy brain," but terrifying? This is a true, true page turner that I absolutely tore through, with a really interesting and well-developed main character. If you have a high tolerance for gore and no issues with reading about horrifying stuff related to fertility/pregnancy/the mental health and cognition-related side effects of pregnancy, this book can cut through a reading slump for sure.

It starts with the crisis moment, then dials back and lets you live in the world for a bit so you can start wondering about the reliability of the narrator and who might be a baddie. Then it ratchets, ratchets, ratchets to intensity in ten cities by the end! It was so effective at both subtle creepy horror and total grossout horror, all while doing some great work with emotions and characters.

5 stars
OBGYN Jillian Marsh is pregnant and is recently separated from her wife Rochelle who is the baby's bio mom. Rochelle left Jillian during the pregnancy to be with another woman. While navigating work, pregnancy, and a separation Jillian turns to her mom to be support group for assistance and friendship. The support group is not only for moms to be but all these ladies are recovering addicts.
Things take a turn for the worse when strange things began to happen leaving Jillian to wonder if it's in her head or if someone is messing with her.

I really enjoyed this book. It's fast paced and if you're looking for a great new thriller I would suggest this book.

Whoa. I was not read. I was not ready and I just finished the book feeling not ready for what I had just read. The twists. The turns. The plot development. The character development. The build up. I do think there were a few too many people involved therefore I was left confused at times but nothing that the plot didn't recover itself. Definitely an interesting read.

Hush Little Baby is a fantastic read leaving the reader questioning if Jillian is mentally unstable as eery events keep her unbalanced throughout the last few months of her pregnancy. There are unexpected twists and turns sure to surprise and grip the reader in this psychological thriller by R.H. Herron.

How many times have I told you that I love domestic thrillers? This one is fantastic. It opens with obstetrician Jillian Marsh delivering a baby and, in that first chapter, I really wished I'd had a doctor like her when I was expecting. It's quickly revealed that Jillian has problems. She's a recovering alcoholic who, years earlier, showed up for a shift drunk, with disastrous results. A decade after she successfully turned her life around, her wife, Rochelle, is leaving her for another woman, while Jillian is heavily pregnant with Rochelle's biological baby. And unsettling things keep happening at home. The baby journal is missing, then reappears in a place she'd already looked more than once. Her favorite kitchen knife is gone without a trace, then appears in the soil of a potted plant. Jillian has a strong support group of friends but even they are starting to think that she's just suffering from a case of baby brain or pregnancy fog. Pregnancy can leave you extremely vulnerable and the author does a fantastic job of capturing that.

This is brilliant psychological thriller/ inspirational women’s fiction with deeply layered, traumatized characters I easily connected with!

Jillian Marsh has flaws, a past with so many mistakes. She struggled, fought, relapsed, hurt, suffered, groveled and at the end she gathered herself physically and mentally to find her own path!

When she has been kicked out from her own family house at the age of 17 by her religious zealot mother, she achieved to pursue her goals for becoming a good doctor! Because of her drinking problems, she was so close to ruin her career if she didn’t she needed help!

She saved her insanity, her career, formed amazing friendships with survivor mothers like her ( yes, she’s pregnant now with biological child or her wife Rochelle)! It seems like she got her happy ending!

Nope, unfortunately she is not! Because her wife cheated on her for a younger woman and now she’s alone, pregnant, extremely emotional and the worst part is she starts suffering from mental breakdown. Thing start to happen in her house! Really weird things!

It only started with missing baby book and gas leak! But later that things get escalated! ( like burning candles, removed screen of bedroom window)

Who could play games with her? Could the Ripleys a.k.a members of mommies to be group ( the Ripleys based on Alien movie’s last survivor: for the love of Sigourney amazing Weaver! ) do something horrible to her?

Bree might carry another man’s child as Camille has own marriage secrets. And what about bold, straightforward Maggie? Those women are survivors but they are also dealing with their own struggling pasts and own their dirty secrets.
And let’s not forget Rochelle’s new lover. They brazenly propose her to take the full custody of the baby. They even offered her money! Maybe the other woman wants to make things easier by playing mind games to completely get rid of her!

I have to admit: the book started really slow and its genre was more women’s fiction than a thriller. But especially last third took an unexpected turn and the story turned into a whirlwind, mind spinning wild ride I highly enjoyed even though I foresaw the perpetrator a little earlier!

The conclusion was satisfying. The writing and psychological analysis of the survivor women was great. I only cut one point for slow start! But overall it’s satisfying, smart, capturing reading!
